Welcome along women of a certain age. The new palace has a post modern water feature, spouting forth gin from a serious of suspicious looking humps...

This is probably an annoying question but has anyone tried chinese medicine and acupuncture? I was wondering today if it works.

givecarrotsachance · 28/10/2009 15:01

Update on meeeeee

Day something like 13 but other than some late last night which arrived and went, no FFJ at all. Temps still low as you would expect this early on. SWI about every other day - managed to get one up there this morning but it was a sad little affair - lots of pre-seed stuff and getting on with it. He enjoyed it; for me it was a perfuntory affair. Feeling a bit guilty about that but there we are!

givecarrotsachance · 28/10/2009 15:02

bessie I've used it for other stuff and for some things it's excellent. I must admit I've considered talking to them about fertility stuff but given it's still only my first proper cycle I thought I'd wait a bit! Worth investigating, definately.

ChoChoSan · 28/10/2009 15:03

Don't think so carrots.

I usually have 26 - 28 day cycle. Today is CD28: CD1 started late at night, so arguably I could go on until tomorrow.

I tested on CD26 and nuffink, plus no pg symptoms (ie. humungous painful knockers). Please note, that I have been 2woolf enough to go back over old threads to remind myself what pg symptoms I had in the past...just in case .

As I said before - maybe the progesterone I am on extends the cycle.

givecarrotsachance · 28/10/2009 15:06

cho don't know anything about the prog but if so, then yes. IYSWIM.

But if no symptoms, doesn't sound great . What does the prog do?

ChoChoSan · 28/10/2009 15:06

bessie I think there have been studies that show the acupuncture has notable effects in conjunction with IVF, but not sure about other chinese meds. There was an aricle in one of the Sunday Broadsheets about a Harley St practitioner having amazing results with chinese herbs...I will try to find it.

carrots I know what you mean about perfunctory sex

Bessie123 · 28/10/2009 15:07

boo, I have period pains

ChoChoSan · 28/10/2009 15:09

Chinese herb lady article:
www.guardian.co.uk/lifeandstyle/2009/oct/25/infertility-treatment-babies-doctor-zha i

I don't know about the effectiveness of the herbs themselves but it seems you get a high level of care, and also close monitoring of diet and excercise etc, whereas with nhs etc, you get left more or less to yourself...I have had very few questions about my lifestyle over the past couple of years.

ChoChoSan · 28/10/2009 15:11

Bessie don't worry about period pains - as any 2woolfer here can tell you, such pains can also be signs of pregnancy, as can practically every other period symptom (ref. bleeding = implantation...yes, this way lies madness!!

ChoChoSan · 28/10/2009 15:13

carrots prog is supposed to help with womb thickness/implantation, and poss to prevent m/c.

ChoChoSan · 28/10/2009 15:16

By the way, If anyone read that article in the Observer woman, and still has the magazine, I'd be interested to see it...I'm pretty sure the black baby at the front wasn't in the picture in the printed version - maybe added in later when they realised all the white babies not v representative of society. Or it could just be me not paying attention!

ChoChoSan · 28/10/2009 16:37

Come back every body..where have you all gone? I will have drunk the bar dry by the time any of you bitches gets back

ChoChoSan · 28/10/2009 16:38

I'm in 2woolf overdrive, and there's no one here to putup share it with me.

Bessie123 · 28/10/2009 16:39

I'm still here but I don't have anything interesting to say. And now I know I'm not updiffed I am [sulking emoticon]

longwee · 28/10/2009 16:44

Here's a question - how many of you tell your OHs about your potential symptoms or plans to POAS? I haven't been doing so - last time I just presented him with the positive test - and I haven't mentioned that I've got a handbag full of piss sticks, one of which is intended for use tomorrow morning. The idea is to stop him realising what a lunatic I am keep the madness away so we're not both obsessing/lessen the 'pressure' - but I wondered what the rest of yers do?

CurlyCasper · 28/10/2009 16:44

back from the docs and amazingly did not have to convince her of anything! First step, blood tests for PCOS.

Didn't ask me what CD etc. so I guess this is not the same as the Day 21 test. She's asked for FSH, LH, S Testosterone, and PRL (think thats prolactin)

Shame I can't go tomorrow morning. Will drop into blood clinic at hospital at 9 on Friday before work and get the ball rolling. Good to feel I'm doing something towards winning my baybeee, bad to think there might be a problem...

ChoChoSan · 28/10/2009 16:45

Hi Bessie,

Well it's very quiet at work today, so despite having accepted a couple of days ago that this wasn't the month for me, I have now had time to do convoluted calculations, almost Byzantine in their level of complication, that would still allow me to have some hope of updiffment, so I could do with having a short, sharp, shock administered in order to snap me out of it!

Bessie123 · 28/10/2009 16:47

caspar good news, great to hear something a bit positive.

longweewee I don't bother trying to hide anything but I think dp does reckon I'm being a bit neurotic

ChoChoSan · 28/10/2009 16:47

Curly, glad to think things went okay at docs - mine was equally disinterested, but she did indeed start the ball rolling.

CurlyCasper · 28/10/2009 16:48

weewee I have only tested on one cycle and for that SFF pursuaded me to test six days before droid due (eventually came about sixteen days later!)

After that one, which he asked me about when I returned to bed, I just left the negative-result sticks in the bathroom for him to ponder Well, only the ones I told him about actually Not sure what will happen when I have something to 2woofl about...

OP posts:
Bessie123 · 28/10/2009 16:48

chochosan unfortunately I'm in the same position as you. The only thing holding me back a bit is that I don't feel updiffed, and haven't this month, and now I have period pains. There's nothing wrong with a bit of OFL, go for it.

ChoChoSan · 28/10/2009 16:49

longwee I too try to hide my baybee madness, but as the years go by, it is getting harder. I still don't tell him when I am going to POAS, especially as I always do it early

CurlyCasper · 28/10/2009 16:51

Thanks BESHies. chocho I suppose it did seem a little bit like a "no skin off her nose" situation. But then, I really expected them to ignore me until I'd been off the pill for a year or something. Suppose they must actually get wailing TTCers in all the time...

bessie sorry you are feeling down. Have a beverage of your choosing on moi

OP posts:
ChoChoSan · 28/10/2009 16:55

curly IIRC you have looney cycle lengths don't you...do you do temping or OPKs at all.

Bessie you could say that we are in the same boat ...a floating gin palace!

idealcamel · 28/10/2009 16:56

Casper! Those bloods are the day 21s, so they'll need to be at the right point in your cycle. You'll also need the Day 2/3s to make sure that your FSH/LH levels are ok. Otherwise tests won't tell you very much.

Are you having dildo cam?

(And can you tell that I'm slightly joyful that someone else gets to have the fun tests, thus making me not feel like a freak).

Bessie - it ain't over yet - could be implantation cramps
