Actually now I feel guilty using up the last post of the thread - hope this will do as a continuation

OP posts:
rowingboat · 20/10/2009 22:28

Hi everyone,
hope you are all well.
Have the colds all gone yet?
Spiral well done on getting a date! Hope it all pans out. I'm sure that even if the dates aren't exact the scan should show whether your tubes are open. Or do they close for most of the month and open for ovulation. Sounds like the perfect job 'sorry mate, we're closed!' to the sperm. I could do that!
Just popping on but hugs to all and hi to all the new people.
This is actually CD12 for me, so we should be bding, but I don't feel like it AT ALL. Still have tinitus and whooshying noise in my ear, but am feeling much much better overall, just very tired. DP is very keen to have a go, but I will have to force myself.
How rubbish!

Angifi · 21/10/2009 00:13

Rowing, sorry to hear you still don't feel 100%.I have a friend who describes the "smorgasboard" technique of sex when you really can't be bothered.Just have DH do all the work, help himself and see if you can just snooze through it! I doubt it would work on my DH, as he likes a bit of effort on my part, however, I guess if he's desperate enough the smorgasboard technique might just work.

Spiral I have heard that the hycosy quite often helps women get pregnant in the weeks afterwards as the tubes are nicely cleaned out.Don't know how true that is, but have heard it several times.

Nothing new here.Keep peeing on opk's with pretty well the same result daily - not quite dark enough. I do recall, however, that when I got preg with ds, I didn't get a + opk.I suppose I could have missed the 'surge'.I usually test in the afternoon (between 2pm and 10pm is recommended), but it still leaves a rather large margin for error I suppose. I'll keep peeing on them as I don't really have anything else to keep me occupied re:ttc!
So, anyone able to fill me in on Grownupbabes? When did she get the bfp???I suppose I could go back and read through the old thread, but it has over 1000 posts!

gumblossom · 21/10/2009 00:54

Just to add to the confusion, I have just name-changed as a couple of people close to me have joined mumsnet and I don't really want them to know all the personal stuff. My other name was a bit obvious.
BTW I was Angifi.

rowingboat · 21/10/2009 19:07

Gumblossom eh, what is wrong with gumtree, you could have had dozens of posts from people selling their old sofa on your profile.
I'm not sure about GUB I just cut and pasted and old roll call, so it may or may not be up to date.

KiwiKat · 21/10/2009 22:01

Okey doke - here's a suggestion: how about we put the date at the top so that we know that on this date these were the correct cds, eg CDs on Wednesday 21st Oct.

So if you're looking at the list tomorrow, Thurs 22nd Oct, you just add one day, and you know where you are.

CDs on Wednesday 21st Oct (add one day for each date after this)

Woodelf - 46 TTC#2 CD 29???
10krunner - 43 TTC#4 CD27
Fruitbowl - 41 TTC#2 CD 27

hippychick66 · 21/10/2009 22:20

That's at least three of us who are frantically peeing on sticks and getting nowhere - God I hate those flippin' sticks. Were prob all ov'ing like mad but the sticks are crap

gumblossom · 22/10/2009 00:19

Rowing - just as well I didn't have gumtree, as I had no idea that people would want to sell sofas - is it a shop or classifieds paper or the like? Down here a gumtree is a tree! I had to think of another name and whilst searching for inspiration looked out the window and that's what I saw!

The opk's I'm using are internet cheapies, maybe they are unreliable? But then again, I don't think I am anywhere near ovulating...patience is a virtue, right?Last time I had a clearblue fertility monitor. But I sold it on Ebay after ds was born (as I thought I'd have NO need for it again!).I really liked it, but I don't want to buy another one.

Has anyone used a "persona" monitor? Are they really just for preventing pregnancy, or can they be used in the same was as the clearblue one?

It is kind of a pity that we can't have signature lines on this site, that would make following cycle days really foolproof. I suppose it's good though cos some people get really carried away and their signature line takes up half a page!

rowingboat · 22/10/2009 00:33

gumangi this is gumtree, just in case you are looking for a second hand sofa.
I can't remember who, but somebody did follow the instructions for the OPK, like not drinking for two hours and stuff like that and it did work.
I must go to bed...

ILoveGregoryHouse · 22/10/2009 15:14

I've never found the ovulation tests to work very well. Am CD 10 I think and have started the testing today. I'm sure I read somewhere that it's best to test twice a day - about 9am and about 2pm. Can't remember where I read that though so could be talking complete s**t or making it all up. Good luck with the wee sticks ladies!

mabh · 22/10/2009 16:37

Hmm well the OPK sticks weren't working for me but I put that down to the fact they were out of date... seriously hoping that it isn't because I have an OV problem!

I've just been over on the July bus and the BFPs are starting to come in. I'm feeling miffed even though I still have a couple of weeks to wait! so I am consoling myself with a Turkish Delight.

DH is feeling 'tired' for the first time since we started TTC. I'm hoping it's just because he's busy at work and not because the gloss has already worn off! Bah

Still managed it 4 times around OV so hoping that's enough. I know it sort of is, technically, but Zita West's thing about people who BD 15x per month getting pg 50% faster than people who do it 10x per month is sticking in my mind. My eggs aren't getting fresher!

sorry, long rant. I am a bit crap today .

mabh · 22/10/2009 16:40

Oh, and if anybody is kind enough to update the list, please can you move me up to CD18. I'd do it myself but my bloomin' mouse is refusing to click-and-highlight [grumpy emoticon].

Thx

earoma · 22/10/2009 16:51

AF going to try one more month then i think i'm going to have to admit defeat this last year have taken such a toll mentally and physically that i'm not sure i can take anymore.

hippychick66 · 22/10/2009 19:57

Sorry to hear you're so sad earoma it's a very stressful time isn't it.

It was me that stuck to the rules and didn't pee for 3.5 hours and drank nothing to get the smiley face on the stick. This month not so good though. I'm on day 15 and the cheapy sticks haven't given me the flippin' go ahead yet. I am begining to doubt my body and wondering if it's GAME OVER for me - I know meoldramatic but that's how those sticks make you feel when they keep saying NO .

I'm still doing IT anyway - incase sticks are wrong.

I don't see why you would have to do it 15 times a month???? Surely it's only the fertile days that count. When we conceived DS #2 I got the go ahead from a stick and we just did if for the next two days in a row and that was it. I couldn't tell you how many other times that month we did it, cos I didn't think those times counted. I guess it's a case of having the troops on standby up there all the time.

We find it qute stressful to do IT on the all important days cos we know it's important and I for I am paranoid that we'll get interupted by DC's and the job wont get done! God I hate all this.

Had my second reflexology session last night - v.good. Told her that after last weeks I got a huge spot in the middle of my forehead and she said it was my 'something' chukra!!! Sorry for long rambling post Love to all.

mabh · 23/10/2009 09:42

hippy it's your 'third eye' chakra! If it's good you're in harmony with the world, if not, you're not (apparently)! Mine must be in a mess, then!

I think Zita was suggesting that people get their ovulation days wrong all the time, so having 'troops' as you put it, in place at all times means you catch it anyway. The stats suggest that about half of us guess wrong, but I suppose the sample will include 'normal' people not just those PO OPKs/ temping etc!

I haven't had a +ve OPK yet, but then there's no chance of me not peeing for 3.5hours!

spiralqueen · 23/10/2009 10:55

Hippy think Mabh is right about Zita's theory that people get their ovulation days wrong and especially at our age when our cycles have a mind of their own you're far more likely to be successful BD-ing frequently. Plus if you are doing it that often I suspect that it's much more relaxed rather than the pressured BD-ing on the optimum days, which again all helps in ttc.

Earoma sorry you're feeling down - we've all been there and if someone could invent a tablet to wipe out the 2WW they'd make a fortune I reckon.

dixie64 · 23/10/2009 13:36

fifitot · 23/10/2009 16:18

OMG I got a BFP.

What was I saying? This was my last month ttc, had resigned myself to it, could now live with the decision, just sold all my baby stuff at the nct sale........

We did it once this month. I got a positive opk, did it that night and that was it and I felt it would be the last one and really was a token bd.

I am not getting carried away - there are many many hurdles. Basically I am bricking it......amnio or not? What if it's positive, possibility of m/c again....all those worries.

Plus, have only just got finanically stable after 3 years of child care costs etc. From work point of view too, this couldn't be a worse time!

I must be mad! I will definately be the oldest mother at ante-natal though - (if I get there that is, touch wood)

Bloody hell.........

fifitot · 23/10/2009 16:24

Actually I feel like my period wants to start so not feeling very optimistic to be honest.

pat42 · 23/10/2009 16:25

Yaaaaay!!! Touchwood, Touchwood, Touchwood. Congrats, Fifitot, I am so happy for you. Tons of sticky dust for you. This is really great news. Just be positive and everything will fall in order.

modernart · 23/10/2009 17:49

Fantastic Fifitot! Congratulations! I really hope it sticks. Lots of people say they thought their period was starting but never did. Lots and lots of stories of rushing to the loo only to find nothing.

How are you feeling? Hope you are ok.

fifitot · 23/10/2009 17:57

I feel like I'm in shock thb.

Very bad indigestion which is what got me wondering.

ILoveGregoryHouse · 23/10/2009 17:58

Congratulations fifitot, sending lots of sticky vibes to you.

Well, I actually got the ov predictor to work - tested this morning and got nada but tested at 2.30 and got a smiley. So, that's it for BDing for now, I think that's right for the TTC girl but not 100% sure.

Oh, and it was the shettles book that I read that recommended testing 2x a day - around 11am - 3pm and 5pm - 10pm.

SummerSky · 23/10/2009 19:26

Well done Fifi Huge Congratulations - it often happens when you have given up I've heard. Just remember Cherie Blair! Lots of Stickiness being sent your way. Of course in a plain brown wrapper

by the way my pre seed arrived on Thursday - obviously our postie didn't know about the strike. Will be attemping to use it v soon, if I can stay awake that is.

hippychick66 · 23/10/2009 20:19

Wow - I was just reading all the posts, going yeah yeah oh that's interesting, ho hum, blah blah and then Wow someone else got a BFP. And it's Fifi who made me cry just the other day. I think we all said never say never this could be the one etc. This will be followed by all of us proclaiming that we are giving up - honest wink wink to see if we can have some of that luck.

When I found out I was pregnant I constantly felt like I was gonna get my period so I really hope it's just a case of feeling like it. I completely understand why you're bricking it - but please try to enjoy it - you've earned it - Hippy hugs Fifi.

Yes that's right it's my third eye. The reason I got a big spot there was cos I wasn't in harmony with the world - "Well Sorry about that I'm BLOODY WELL trying to be!"

Once again congrats Fifi. How is Tetley, is she still hanging about - checking in on us??? Fifi have you dared move yourself to graduation yet?
