Actually now I feel guilty using up the last post of the thread - hope this will do as a continuation

OP posts:
AlbaDeTamble · 21/03/2010 17:15

Hippy, you're not horrid! I've seen your encouraging posts more than I've managed recently... It's so busy I think you can simply stay quiet if you're not feeling up to revisiting tough times, enough of us to take it in turns a bit... I'm finding there's also some great positivity which is a big help.

Loving the BFPs and pregnancies here, helping my optimism.

DH and I have decided on lastminute ski holiday after Easter if I get a BFN next week... He's keen for me to learn, and I'm getting quite excited about it, so should help with potential disappointment.

randomimposter · 21/03/2010 20:14

kiwi OMG that's brilliant - has it sunk in yet??? Have all crossed for you. And kick your DH in the shins for me will you... .

hippy FX on the IOW - keep me posted. Ref our beach date, will also bring a coolbox... any preference on vino?

Gum thanks SO much for the blog link. Will check it out now - you're v v kind.

Alba v impressed at your skiing plans... blardy good on yer! But hopefully you won't be going....

Love to all. Off for an early night... no, certainly not for any SWorWOI x

Haystack · 21/03/2010 20:37

Hi everyone

I know this is a very busy thread but I was wondering if I can come and join you all. It feels quite scary admitting that we are trying for another baby, particulary as we aren't officially, just not not trying, but that doesn't fool me I am already bordering on obsessed and it is only 2 mths.

This would be no. 4 and although I am not yet 40 I will be by the time any potential baby arrives so hoping that counts. Have had some fertility issues in the past and have an underactive thyroid gland so hopeful but realistic.

thanks and good luck to you all off to find my sleeping hubby and wake him up!

rowingboat · 21/03/2010 21:50

Hi everyone,
wow, can't keep up with the goings on.
Kiwi that is fantastic news, I'm really inspired by your success. I do sympathise with your DH though, even when you get great news there is always that niggle. He is probably afraid to be happy. Don't worry, he will come round.
I forget that IVF can actually work sometimes.
GPS there you are! How lovely to hear from you again. The tests don't keep the results for long. I had a positive result after my first IVF. Unfortunately it didn't stick, but I put the test in my sock drawer, not sure why, but when I went back a day or so later it had gone back to white. Not sure if this is what you have experienced. Are you testing again soon?
Hope it's good news!
Alba that sounds exciting, where are you going skiing? I haven't been myself, but I look forward to hearing all about your trip.
Hippy what a lovely doctor, it's all good news about early scans and the progesterone. All systems go now.
ILGH I am laughing at your 'unmnlike hugs' next thing we will all be huns and have huge tickers at the bottom of our profiles.
Gum how is your daughter's impetigo? That must be a pain that it returns. I hope it is definitely improving now.
Jollster I agree it is a big positive that you have had no problem becoming pg, just a question of keeping your chin up and continuing to get that 'good' egg.
Haystack welcome to the thread, I hope you only have a short stay here.
Not much to report here. I'm supposed to get AF on Tuesday/Wednesday, cha' right!
Hope she shows up or it'll be 8 weeks on the pill for me. boo hoo! Excuse me while I turn into a psychotic loon.

Italiangreyhound · 21/03/2010 23:10

Kiwi stonkingly good result. Can?t believe dh and ditto to your miserable s*d comment! But bless him, his little fellas helped to do the job!

Just looking back over my posts (I keep them so I can remember what the hoodle I said!) and saw your fridge situation and remember my sperm-like smiley on the forty thread , the bossy boss and DH having wobbles about ICSI- am I getting things right or getting people muddled up! Even me shooting up a quick prayer over the washing up for kitten/s!! Now here we are and I am so thrilled. Who would have thought I could get so excited over a trucker from slough (as I think of you all on the Assisted Conception thread).

hippychick66 I am indeed not Italian; although my mum informs me I could have been if dad had gone with his first girlfriend! I am also on the assisted conception thread where I am called Italian, I respond to most things - except 'hey dumb ass'! Anyway, Worrier66 don't feel you need to keep going back to the MC thread if you feel you are now ready to move on, from what you say there are lots of others there. I've found this to be a very nice and helpful thread but the one I feel most akin to is the assisted conception, although at times they confuse me with all their medical jargon! But I like chatting to you guys too (at 45 I certainly qualify) so I think you should just stick to the threads that suit you at the stage you are at. Maybe some of the great 40 somethings from the MC thread will drift over here.

AlbaDeTamble really like the idea of a skiing trip if you get a bfn, good to have something nice to take your mind off. Stay positive but if you are not successful this time just nice to have something good to do.

Haystack welcome. I am sure we will make room for someone who is nearly 40, as long as you do not flaunt your thritysomethingness!

gumblossom · 21/03/2010 23:28

Kiwi, congratulations! Fabulous news. It is so wonderful to see so many bfp's lately.Very exciting.

I have had a rotten night's sleep and feel a bit head-coldy, finding it hard to wake up, so won't make any more comments - just so pleased for you Kiwi.

Will try to catch up later...

thefatladyscreams · 22/03/2010 09:47

Just popping in briefly and haven't read back properly but wow - saw Kiwi's news.

That is absolutely fantastic

Good on you girl!

Off for my scan today and feeling as sick as a dog with nerves. Scan not until 1.20pm so time is dragging horribly but at least the sun is out! Thanks for all the good luck wishes.

Will post properly later.

At least have Kiwi's fantastic news to keep my spirits up!!!

gonepearshaped · 22/03/2010 13:07

Wow Kiwi well done if yr test was 2010 03 then that's still in date in my book - the one I did was 6 months out! Should have just binned the damn thing...

haven't tested yet, I'm at work and I'm going to hold off as long as I can. Definitely trying to be neutral, I'm still only 6 days late. Bit scared to test now cause I know I'll be gutted by a negative.

So I'm going to put up and shut up on the subject

hippychick66 · 22/03/2010 13:35

Italian Your mum sounds funny - not sure how you could be you without her - haha. You are so right about me only going to the threat that suits. I will take your advise - promise.

pearshaped Good luck when you do test. Let us know as soon as the pee has dried! You could become even more pearshaped!

TFLS Wow, as i type you are actually at your scan. Please report back asap. Lots of love to you and your DH. xxx

Welcome Haystack You sound like you'll fit in just fine. I'd love to be just the right side of 40 - you lucky young thing.

Gum get well soon.

Sorry if I missed you off. love to all.

thefatladyscreams · 22/03/2010 15:41

All fine - phewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww. Saw the heartbeat, got a wave and everything seemed great. I couldn't look at the screen at first as was so convinced that I would get the sympathetic but its bad news voice from the sonographer. Nuchal measurement was 1.4 (you're allowed up to 3.5) so that was really good news as apparently the lower the better. She dated me as 6 days further along at 13 4.

Had lunch with DH afterwards - was lovely.

Thanks everyone for all the support. Going to sink into a pile of nervous relief now!

Gonepearshaped - didn't realise you were testing as well - must read back properly later. My first couple of tests were all negative (internet cheapies) and I only got a postive on about day 31. Fingers crossed for you.

Hope you're feeling better soon gum. And welcome Haystack - excuse my manners earlier but I was a jibbering wreck

ILoveGregoryHouse · 22/03/2010 16:08

That's great TFLS, so pleased. Have you had the triple test too?

I had a booking in appointment at the hospital I want to deliver at but my first choice ob-gyn is booked up for my due date. Managed to get another one (a man!), though, who delivered my friend a couple of years ago and is seeing my other friend who is 25 weeks, so feel confident he's a good'un. I can't see him til 18th April though cos he's on hols. Midwives have booked me to his list though on the referral of the lady who saw me today. Anyhoo, she scanned me today and said all look good. I am still 3 days behind dates but that's fine as that's been consisent for 2 weeks now. Have another scan on Saturday with the doc who has treated me for the lpd and the early pregnancy. She's lovely but the main hospital is in the middle of the city and I don't want to go there to deliver - the other hospital is 20 minutes from my new house and is in the country (well, the desert..), nice and quiet and peaceful.

Welcome Haystack, hope you feel at home with us.

GPS, have you bought another test yet? When are you going to poas? I know it's tough but you're gonna know some time (certainly within the next nine months anyway). Still got it all crossed for you.

AlbaDeTamble · 22/03/2010 17:46

TFLS

Haystack · 22/03/2010 19:32

Brilliant news TFLS so pleased for you. Thanks for the welcomes, I promise no flaunting of unsightly youthfulness! Fingers crossed for those about to test.

randomimposter · 22/03/2010 19:51

tfls have left you a message on the grads thread - but at the risk of repeating myself .

gps what news????

welcome haystack, I remember being under 40...... just!

should have POAS myself today to check all pg has gone, but didn't buy a test.... not a HUGE amount of motivation IYKWIM...

Hi to all x

KiwiKat · 22/03/2010 23:01

Blood test today confirmed the BFP!!! Hurrah! But am going to take it one day at a time, as 40 weeks is a lot of little milestones to achieve before we get the prize at the end.

Thanks for all the support - very, very much appreciated!

Will be back paying attention to everyone else tomorrow - right now my head is all ME, ME ME!

KiwiKat · 22/03/2010 23:04

Meant to say Yahoo! to TFLS! Wonderful news.

Italiangreyhound · 22/03/2010 23:13

Kiwi brilliant news.

thefatladyscreams Wow, well done.

ILoveGregoryHouse well done to you too . Hope you get the hospital you want. I don?t know how it works where you are but I imagine several people will have early or late pregnancies/deliveries so you may yet get into the desert sheik palace hotel...I mean hospital....of your choice.

Goneps, Alba, Gumblossom, jollster, hippy and all, thinking of you.

I had an amazing day. I went to clinic, negotiated their cr*p car park alone for the last time (I think) as my lining is fine (means next time I am there will be with hubby driving (I don't mind driving I just mind parking). After the super lovely nurses checked my lining I was given a blood test to check if my estrogen levels were high enough. Ever eager to please I said "I'm sure they are!" Then I had to confess that I had no idea why I thought that, I was just eager to please!

Once done and dusted I headed home and listened to an amazing programme on Radio 4, at 11.00, called 'Captured by Pirates' where (quote Radio Times) "Kate Silverton uncovers the story of the 70 English schoolchildren who were captured by pirates off the China coast and later ended up in a Japanese concentration camp with Scottish athlete and missionary Eric Liddell. Some of those who were there help to recount this extraordinary tale." These girls as young as 7 lived for years in the camp, they were basically treated OK and the thing that make life bearable was their exceptional teachers who maintained their regular life including girl guiding and Brownies plus their faith and as children their willingness to adapt! I drove along with tears streaming down my face and - actually there are no words - just amazed! Whatever I have to deal with on this fertility rollercoaster is nothing to being interned at age 7 and not seeing your parents for years! It was curiously uplifting. The children were the children of missionaries and it was so moving to hear them interviewed now, 75 years on! If you feel moved you can listen again at within the next week at .

Then it was off to see my dietician (I have a boated tum which we think is irritable bowl). Although I was late, (very late) she saw me and we had an amazing session where she helped me with weight loss talks, mindful eating etc and we even did an exercise where we ate a raison very slowly and explored the smell, taste colour of a single raison! It was the tastiest raison ever! Then on to dentist who said that poor gums can be detrimental to pregnancy so I am booked in with the hygienist for next month.

What a day!

We still do not have a date for definite but it will be soon.

Sorry if I have missed anyone.

gumblossom · 22/03/2010 23:31

Such good news all round! Kiwi, that is such great news.Try to relax and enjoy. You deserve it!
TFLS, great news for you too.So pleased that all is well.I hope you can relax and enjoy your pregnancy too.
ILGH it must be so nice making plans.
IGH, things are sounding positive for you.You must be feeling really ready.

I'm still feeling a bit stuffy headed, but at least little Charlie was a dream yesterday, played so nicely by himself most of the day.Which is very unlike him. I was able to make dinner, bake for the kids, get the laundry done and make lunch all before we went for a walk at 11! Then he slept for two hours. That's the kind of day I dream of.

Still waiting patiently for something to happen re: my fertility. I'm giving me and Charlie til he turns 2 in Aug, and if there's no return of AF, I'll consider weaning him. I at least want to have a shot at it before I turn 44 in Nov.

Rowing where are you at? GPS, please do another test! If you are 6 days late, that must be a good sign! Do you normally have regular cycles?

Can't wait to hear your news.

I have a feeling everyone will have graduated and I'll still be hanging around here waiting for something to happen...[sigh]

gumblossom · 22/03/2010 23:36

Oh, forgot to say Italian, I used to have Irritable bowel and in my case I was able to be rid of it(after years of discomfort)by giving up all gluten. I had tests to see if I had celiac disease, but it came back negative, however if I eat gluten I end up sick again, so I found that was the thing. The funny thing is, when I am pregnant I am able to eat gluten with no problems.Very strange.
At first I gave up wheat as advised by a naturopath, which helped me feel better, but it wasn't til I eliminated all gluten that I stopped feeling bloated and sick. If I eat too much dried fruit I'll get the bloating too.

I hope your dietition helps you find out what causes your IBS and you feel better soon.It can be a drag, I know.

Italiangreyhound · 23/03/2010 00:22

Gumblossom thanks for your kind words. My IBS has not been confirmed and it is not too bad. Just lots of bloating, which often makes people think I am pregnant and some ask if I am! Plus pain at times like first thing in the morning. I have tried cutting out wheat etc and no different. My dietician has suggested cutting out some fibre (but not oats) and various things to calm down my gut (apparently the gut is very sensitive).

I got pregnant with mmc about three months after giving up breast feeding with dd. I do think it makes a difference but it is a big decision and one that is not easy to make! DD kind of made it for me by going off the boob a bit. Anyway, hope you enjoy your week. You sound like super woman doing all that by 11.00!

AlbaDeTamble · 23/03/2010 10:11

Welcome Haystack

Gum and Italian, IBS... yep, I have that lovely condition too. They can't ever confirm it Italian, only rule out other stuff and therefore tell you that's what you have as they've eliminated anything else... so it's just a bit of a catch all really. I find I go through phases when it's all ok and I can eat anything, other times I have to be incredibly careful or the pain is awful. Different triggers every time

GPS - what news?
This run of good luck got me all optimistic so I tested with a 10miu internet cheapy stick this morning -- and for now, the skiing's off... will confirm with a CB at the weekend as it's very early, till then, I'm feeling unexpectedly incredibly calm

gonepearshaped · 23/03/2010 12:51

Wow its busy round here! Alba did you just say what I thought you said? If the skiing is off does that mean you got a bfp - if so thats fantastic

Thanks all you guys for thinking of me - no news as yet - I got as far as buying the stick but am too scared to use it.

So now its day seven and I've felt a bit sick last two mornings. But I'm about to move back to the UK and now the removals people say their lorry is out of action so it could all be just stress.

OP posts:
ILoveGregoryHouse · 23/03/2010 12:56

alba had to read that twice to get what you said. I'll do a whispered "woo-hoo" for now til the CB.

hippychick66 · 23/03/2010 13:52

TFLS - I am so happy for you. How nice of him/her to wave. Now - breath out again. It feels like you've been holding your breath for weeks.

Alba - How can you calmly drop in to the conversation that the ski-ing is off. I am very excited for you but in a quiet, calm way of course. OMG.

Pear shaped - You must have incredible will-power. I would have sooooo peed on that stick by now.

Jollster - i know it's horrid to do that first test after your MMC. I was gutted to see that I was no longer preg - but of course it is a necessity. So that when WE get our next BFP we'll know it's true. ps. DH got a second interview on IOW. This beach date is looking more and more likely

Italian - Not long to go now.

Kiwi -

Oh my goodness, Now i'm worried that A) I'm gonna be the only one left on here who is actually TTCing. and B) Have i missed any one off today.

AlbaDeTamble · 23/03/2010 14:51

Hippy, good news on the IOW second interview... are you excitedly looking to see where you can live now? Or are you more restrained than I would be... I spent many a happy summer weekend there as a child so know most places within walking distance from anywhere you can park a boat. Best memory is the fab sweetshop in Cowes, though I don't suppose it's there any more...

GPS, I'm with you on the too nervous to test. Had I not been foolhardy and tested waaaay too early this morning I wouldn't have at all. It was early enough for me to write off a bfn as too early to be conculsive, iyswim. Now I have the worry that knowing quite so early, I may have my hopes dashed in the next few days... I do hope not.
It's pretty unlikely stress could make you seven days late, though don't know if your cycles are usually reliably regular? If they are, then it's odds on you'll get a lovely clear bfp (like I'm hoping to see at the weekend)

Jollster, so sorry your poas isn't going to be such good news, though it will be a step on the way to another positive one. It was only about 4 weeks ago I got my first bfn, followed by a lovely glass of Oyster Bay Sauv Blanc (there's a box of the stuff here, just got an order in from majestic, great timing there!) -- I think what I'm trying to say is make the most of the wine and the pate and the yummiest cheeses, it may not be for long

wishing zen-like calm to all and may the good news continue
