Hold on, here we go again!

Hum,
Buzz,
Click click
Hum

Monitor blinks, glows
Processor thrums happily

Fingers fly across the keyboard
"Hi how are you?"
"I'm fine been waiting for you"
Smile spreads wide across my face

Her words appear slowly
Full of humor and warmth
A cyber smile, a virtual laugh
Silent yet I hear

Realizing it's time to go,
a somatic sensation warms me

"I hope to chat again soon"
"Till then good bye"

Click click
Buzz
Silence

I found this and thought of us!......

I know it's really hard to choose, I will join on that thread I think. I'm also thinking of using reusable nappies this time as ds was in them for so long, bless him, but again there is so much choice I don't know where to start!

MummyLovesSadie · 27/04/2009 18:44

Sabs Most travel systems face both ways. I would highly recommend Maxi Cosi car seats which fit into most travel systems (& look really cool too!). I bought the Quinny travel system but I would not recommend it tbh, it is too heavy to maneuver & I've had a flat tyre about 8 times in the last 18 months! Next time (if I ever manage to have another freaking baby before my dd starts school!) I'm going to buy a Phil & Teds which you can convert for two lo's.

ScorpiowithabigS · 27/04/2009 18:45

Sabs - i know about buggies!

ScorpiowithabigS · 27/04/2009 18:47

I am a current owmer of 2 bugaboos and would never look elsewhere. I have a cameleon and a bee - the bee is best IMO, smaller. Cameleon nice for little baby but mimi is 12 months now and the bee is more strollerish, but suitable from birth. You can get adaptors fpor the maxi cosi seat to fit both bugaboos, the bug bee has a nest that you put in for the baby; the cam has a carrycot.

I have also had a loola, but was less impressed.

BlueMoon1981 · 27/04/2009 19:52

evening ladies

Wow you can talk can't you, i had loads to catch up on! Very jealous of those who can get on here at work, i tried ages ago and it came up with a big fat ACCESS DENIED! I thought about asking for access but couldn't be doing with explaining to some insensative IT man why i needed it!

Barbie and 4ever, no problem with moon, that's fine with me, its actually what my sister calls me but thats a long story, and no its not cuz i pull moonies at people before you ask!

I'm enjoying being here, you are all very happy people. Its nice to hear all the pg ladies doing well and talking scans and buggies, i hope my bean lasts that long this time.

hi neeko hope you are ok today, trust me your af will come at the worst time possible - mine came the day i was going for a meal with work, and i felt awful and wasn't hungry and thought i was going to pass out! So pick the one day you wish it wouldn't come and i guarantee it will!

waves to all the girlies

LionstarBigPants · 27/04/2009 20:07

VJ glad to hear you have caught up on your sleep. I still have tiredness days, it hasn't passed with the first trimester. It hits me hardest on the days I have to go into the office, fortunately that's only about 1 day a week. The days I work from home I'm much more lax, fortunately I'm freelance, so am less committed to a timetable, as long as I get the job done. Am a bit worried this contract is going to be terminated in June though, which might bugger up my maternity pay situation somewhat.

Interested to hear you are thinking of trying cloth nappies, we used them with DD after about 6 weeks (couldn't be arsed in the early days). I inherited a lot of Kushies Ultra from my sister, but wouldn't recommend them. I like the 2 part systems i.e. with a seperate wrap - much better containment. My favourites were Bambinex bamboo ones. However for childcare the pocket nappies were very simple to use. I was fortunate in that DD gave up nappies completely by about 23 months or so, which helped with my washing chores.

Sabs I know where you are coming from with the cute baby socks - I think I developed a bit of a sock fetish before DD arrived, I couldn't go shopping without bringing home a pair.

Pushchairs is an endless topic, there are so many varieties out there, each with their own strengths. We have the iCandy Cherry which I like. It is lightweight with a big basket. It has a carrycot for the first 6 months, then a seat that can go either way. It also takes the MaxiCosi car seat. The downsides to it are that you have to take the seat off to fold and it isn't much good for offroad. If I was buying now I'd consider a Bee, but the only issue I have with it is the size - it just doesn't look big enough for a toddler.

bluesatinsash · 27/04/2009 21:21

Evening ladies and fantastic news on your scan lionstar - hope you savoured that glass of wine tonight, you deserve it .

Hi moon, I try not to go on at work and make a rule of only posting at lunchtime if at all as I do feel big brother is watching me .

MLS - sorry to hear you've had a crappy hormonal day, I've had plenty this past year. AF visited last month the same day as colleague had her 12-week scan and I felt down all day and which isn't like me at all - damn mother nature!

Mermaid been feeling for you today and your thoughts now AF is here. As Vjay says age gaps can work regardless of length. Hope you and your DH talk things through, we would hate to lose you, you're our wise owl! Oh and DH DID snore last night to the point I slept in the other room. Walked into our room the morning and it stank of metholated spirits - yukko.

oooh Vjay - thinking of Scotish names are you? I like Ewan too but our surname is McGregor so had to black ball that one . Other ones to consider are: Fraser, Harris, Hamish, Lewis, Callum, Gordon, Graeme, Stuart (I am basically working my way through the tarten clans ).

Sabs - big awws re: buying baby socks. re: prams I had Mamas & Papas Ultimo travel system which was great other than car seat which was v. heavy and didnt supoprt DS's head. Would definately supplement it for maxi cosi car seat next time. He was very rarely in it though as I loved pushing him in the carry cot (they look soooo cute all swaddled and peeking out the top). Have fun shopping .

barbie - can you go any browner . How's the bruise on your derrier?

4ever - not long now!! Weird how Af is due exaclty the same day, its a win win for you though .

Kate - you must post lots of photos of your big day, that's an order!

Jools - been thinking about you lots and hope you and DP are having a cocktail or two and just relaxing.

Neeko · 27/04/2009 22:18

Hello. Loving all the baby and buggy talk. All so exciting. We had the Mothercare urban detour 3-wheeler travel system for DD which was great for walking from the house but quite heavy for the boot of the car. Ended up using mclaren buggy when travelling by car. Mothercare now do a cool one that can face both ways. I'd love a new pram next time but DH won't go for it as nothing really wrong with that one. We were going to buy a double tandem one but won't need it now as DD will be too big I'm also loving the Scottish names!
Kate You'll be a gorgeous bride regardless of how many M&Ms you eat.
Moon I'm picking tomorrow as the most inconvenient day just so it'll come quicker!
Littlebellsmum are you still out there? Haven't heard from you in a while.#
Think there are a few ladies due to test again tomorrow? Sounds like gracie might be joining you. Good luck.
I started my new healthy eating and exercise regime today in the quest for a more baby friendly body. Have been to the gym and drank 2 1/2 litres of water in Jools honour!
Hope everyone else is ok.

BlueMoon1981 · 27/04/2009 22:27

neeko it has to be genuinely inconvenient, you can't just say tomorrow or it won't work!

i've been on the water a lot lately, think i won't be having cravings, just a raging thirst judging by recent days! have read this is a good thing though, for making healthy beans

i am off to bed, didn't sleep well last night so am shattered today. night everyone xxxxx

barbie1 · 28/04/2009 06:54

[smiling] here after realising how far we have all come from the very first thread we were on together, how desperate those sad days were and how each thread has started to get happier and more fun, and now we are even talking about prams and socks

neeko at you choosing to get your af today, if only it was that simple!

pram ladies i have no idea what you are all going on about but i would choose the pram that was the cutest but its probably the most impratical! We did look at a few on line last time and we chose the bugaboo range..(the colours were pretty, i think thats what i liked about them! )

mermaid i hope you are still here???

jools hope you are making the most of the sun, sea, sand and sex! make sure you drink plenty of wine, its rude not too when you are on holiday!

Hi to everyone else...im trying to catch up as much as i can, thankfully i told my best friend about all of you and she is happy for me to come on here as she know how important you all are.

We are off into the desert today, for the jeep safari. Some sand bashing, camel riding, sand boarding and then a bbq in the desert tonight with belly dancers etc...im practising holding in my belly in case i can forced on stage to join in!

Love to you all xx

Neeko · 28/04/2009 08:49

Hey Barbie I can but hope! My life is so boring right now that there's no genuinely inconvenient day so I might never get AF Feeling much more positive after taking control of diet and fitness thing yesterday so going to focus on that and let the AF/conception thing sort itself out. My body is clearly not ready to move on and the quicker I accept that the easier it'll be. (hark at me!)
Enjoy the belly dancers et al! Oh and Hi to your friend

4everhopeful · 28/04/2009 09:18

Apologies in advance for the me me me post, but had a nightmare yesterday - as you know DH blood had to be screened pre treatment for Hep B/C, HIV & oth such things, he got all clear results on fri, GP e-mailed them to Portland, they needed them back by today at latest to send to their lab, but dunce secretary reckoned she couldnt find the attachment, after to'ing & fro'ing back to his GP, decided to just resend them myself yesterday, I scanned them at work & resent as an e-mail with attachment, when spoke to her she said she couldnt print the attachment & could I fax it instead(?!?) . You'd think a 150K a year consultant would have at least have a computer literate secretary wouldnt ya?! She sounds very scatty, & talks (over you) in a high pitched tone at a million words per min..
Anyway after many calls to check, she then calls back & said 'one test was meant to be for hep c core antibodys but came back as hep c surface antibody & unless we have the correct one we can't have the treatment' Could feel the tears burning & shouted what a farce this all was, then hastily chased DH GP (diff to mine) to find out what happened, on hold for 40 mins, sobbing my eyes out in work toilet, came back to desk to call DH from oth pho while still holding & agreed we'd just go straight to GP hoping it was simply a typo, sobbed to manager incoherently who let me leave early, we both dashed to GP & sure enough receptinist told us, the lab tested the surface antibody not the core antibody, we got to see the duty GP who called the lab & explained how essential it was to have it & lab reckons they still have DH blood & can do it by 2pm today, I sobbed & sobbed with relief.. However I am now an anxiety ridden wreck & wont beleive its gonna happen til the needles are in my arms! Portland reckon GPs always do this & they are gonna stop allowing the screening on NHS, they said worse way we can go there on thurs & have it done, but would pay through the nose.. So now ive gone from buzzing with excitement to being a complete wreck & wanna scream at the world.. All this bloody swine flu stuff is freaking me out (thinking, great, will prob get pg then get swine flu), worrying about being on MN too long at work & getting sacked, annoyed by MIL prattling on about BIL wonderful new gf, & feeling full PMT but also wondering if PG as the symptom spotters all know, the is just the same... Have drafted this in a mail to cut & paste so wouldnt be on MN long! AGH! Things had gone too smoothly til this point. Will be a wreck til Portland have results & OK it all. So sorry for the superlong post..
Barbie I want to come out there I'm of your jeep safari, me & DH did it & was amazing. Thats just what I need, to disapear into the desert for 9 months have baby in a beduin tent away from swine flu then come home.

mermaidspurse · 28/04/2009 09:29

1 minute to go and not caught up yet! going to bribe the librarian for more time hopefully!!!

MummyLovesSadie · 28/04/2009 12:13

4ever firstly, you have made me laugh so much with your desire to give birth in a beduin tent away from the swine-flu!! Please don't worry about the swine-flu - the only people that have died have been in Mexico & that is probably due to the vastly different social situation out there, e.g. poor diet, lack of proper health-care & more poverty than over here. If swine-flu is identified early enough it is totally treatable. Once again this is an example of the media whipping up mass hysteria. Secondly, poor you for what you had to endure yesterday. I can well imagine being in that situation & the panic & stress & feeling of helplessness building up & up until you explode into a mass of tears. Have they got all the results they need now?

Vjay I have a couple of Scottish name baby books that I bought when expecting dd , I'll dig them out in a min & post a few names.

Af still not here but due tomorrow & had another bfn this morning so I guess it's not my turn this month. Dh is going to the States, Hong Kong & Australia for three weeks.... thank God he goes just after my next ovulation!

LionstarBigPants · 28/04/2009 12:17

4ever, just dropping in to say that I hope they get everything sorted today. How bloody frustrating it must be to have come so far and then get tied up in knots by some stupid poor communication. Sounds like that secretary could do with some training - and charm school!

Thinking of you.

GracieGirl · 28/04/2009 12:33

4ever let me give you a big hug!! I can't believe how much they are messing you around! If that secretary doesn't sort herself out, maybe we need to scare them with the Barbie-mobile and us charlies Emmsys Angels routine!

Lion so pleased your Amino results are normal and Vjay it a boy, how lovely!

Its peeing it down now!! Blue sky ran off somewhere, glad I'm in the library.

Still NOT symptom spotting!! honest! Day 25.
