Have been trying that

Still low CD21.... been bding anyway but not holding out much hope.

How late in a cycle can you ovulate??

OP posts:
Ilovebeingamummy · 05/04/2009 10:14

Lets hope it missed it lexi and I still get my bfp.... or its on to 2010 for me....

poppy34 · 05/04/2009 10:15

can I join? if nothing else I might need tech help with monitor. DD 9 months but ttc no 2 (first month of trying -on day 34 and no ovulation this month). Have had history of m/c/lost a baby prior to dd so am thinking it could be a long /fruitless wait on this board.

timmette does the dipping thing really work? I was away this month so wasnt testing at beg of day so wonder if that affected quality.

poppy34 · 05/04/2009 10:17

and I had opposite problem - high reading for ages (about 15 days from day 5 to day 25 -til told me to stop trying -its my first month of using this).

londonlexi · 05/04/2009 11:16

ILBAM - not sure exactly how late you can ovulate, but i know that you need at least 10 days after to give a fertilised egg chance for implantation, which is the problem unless you have a very long cycle. That's why i was upset about my 25 day cycle - i ovulate on cd 18. Anyway, ewcm good sign for you so i'll keep fingers crossed as you got on with the bd anyway.

Hi Poppy, welcome to the thread. Hope the successful arrival of your dd means you'll have more luck trying this time. You CAN do it!!

Lots of previous cbfm threads said much better to dip for 15 seconds, which is a pain in the bum i know but worth it for better results. Also, when you start using it does seem as if you can get a high for ages - again, have a look at prevsious cbfm threads (just search under cbfm). Next month, try the dipping and hopefully you'll get better results. I'd try and track the natural signs as well (cervical mucus - see fertility friends website or search mumsnet) to reassure yourself.

poppy34 · 05/04/2009 13:34

thanks londonlexi -will do a search ..and having dd means I can do it .

iwillbepositive · 05/04/2009 17:39

Hello all - just thought I would say that from my experience the CBFM is very useful but not 100% reliable so don't get too hung up on the results.

I am now 14 weeks pg, having conceived during the first month in 2 years the monitor didn't give me a peak. Just went on with 'High' for ages. I had actually (yes, I know slightly desperate!) done a separate LH test one afternoon as I wasn't convinced by the monitor - that test showed a clear LH surge line. So I think timing can really affect things and you may well miss a peak if it occurs between two CB morning tests.

Just so no one despairs if they sometimes don't see peaks. Don't stop the bding - fortunately I ignored the monitor that month and went for it anyway!

Good luck.

Ilovebeingamummy · 05/04/2009 20:44

Thank you Iwillbepositive - that has really sheered me up.

I was a bit confused about having to using FMU for the cbfm when opks want daytime samples don't they?

Gosh I am suddenly realising I know so little about ttc - good job I am an antenatal teacher not a fertility one!

Do those exist....I need one!

OP posts:
Ilovebeingamummy · 06/04/2009 12:22

Woo hooo- got my first high (on the cbfm obviously!) Almost as excting as a bfp i was so worried I wasn't going to get one at all. CD22 today. Hope I will get a peak before its too late too...

Have prepared DH to not tire himself out at work today...

Exactly 12 days til end of cycle so I hope that is long enough if I do get pregnant for implantation to be OK. I am now wondering if that is what happened with my 2 mc's/cp's (got bfp CD34 and loss 5 days later with both)

Fingers crossed.

Welcome to poppy34 x

Where has everyone gone??

Now on my 3rd high day CD24...only 10 days left til the end of my cycle so now worrying about that.

Also bd on CD22 but DH was too tired last night so got that to stress about too now.

I really hate this ttc lark... wish I'd known how lucky I was the day I got my bfp with ds (It went something like...oooh, I have no idea when I last had a period, maybe I better do a test....Oh look at those really quick dark 2 blue lines..how fab) Can I myself???

Or just [need grateful emoticon]....

Hi
Ilovebeingamummy - glad to hear you have had some positive news. I am still here although I have promised dh to take it easy ttc this month and next he is very stressed at the moment - - he is right but I am not happy about it. Anyway I have started using my monitor - but have not had to pee on a stick yet .
I think you still have a chance as those little swimmers hang around for 72 hours.

Ilovebeingamummy · 08/04/2009 15:41

Hi timmette

I am convinced now that I have a luteal phase defect and am going to miscarry again even if I do fall pg with there only being 8-10 days before af due.

have managed to get doctor to do form for day 21(which will be 31 for me!) blood test so at least that might confirm one way or the other.

Taking it easy is so much easier to say than do isn't it?..

OP posts:
timmette · 08/04/2009 15:55

Hi ILBM
Got to say I never thought about miscarriage until I had one - - now despite great ds I know I will be a nervous wreck if I do conceive again - obsessing over every twinge etc.
It's good that you are doing something proactive and getting your blood tests - maybe it will give some kind of definite answer that may help you to move forward.
And I am particularly crap at relaxing and taking it easy .

londonlexi · 09/04/2009 15:35

Hi all, i'm still here, just haven't got much to report at the moment, a couple of weeks before my peak i think.
I'm trying (unsuccessfully) to think about other things in the meantime. It's weird isn't it how it takes over your life, I am usually pretty logical about life/stuff, however completely lose my perspective when it comes to ttc and worry about every little thing. I guess it's our bloomin hormones.
ILBAM - my friend got pregnant with 8 day luteal phase so don't worry too much, however B6 is good for setting cycle (100mg per day). Good to get blood test results, they'll reassure you that all is ok hopefully.
Timmette, CBFM asks you to wee on stick after day 5 i think, try and dip if you can mumsnetters seem to say.

Ilovebeingamummy · 09/04/2009 20:48

HI all

Well its all been a bit mental for me the last 2 days. Got my first peak today which is CD25 so 9 day luteal phase.

Convinced myself of inevitable miscarriage if I do conceive due to short LP.... but have today got Dr to prescribe progesterone pessaries (Cyclogest) to try and help with that.

Had 'Day 21' bloods today and more Tues. Hoping that at least now i am on the road to help with this, and best case scenario is a bfp that sticks...

Timmette - I did get much better results with CBFM with dipping too

Lexi - i can't take B6 due to my neurological history unfortunately. Will get Day 3 bloods though next month if this month is not successful

wishingwell · 12/04/2009 21:01

Hi all, i'm still here even though haven't been posting recently. Well, my AF finally arrived full flow today after light spotting for 3 days. Feel quite relieved actually as I was starting to get worried as initially thought the spotting was the period and then got stressed about having light period and ttc. Also quite pleased that this time AF came after only 26 days post mc and not 7 weeks like the 1st mc.

So I'm back to cd1 today and will be setting the cbfm tomorrow morning. Finger's crossed for high/peak reading in hopefully 2 weeks time. By the way does anyone know how many highs do you normally get before getting a peak reading and does the peak reading always coincide with ewcm?

WW x

londonlexi · 13/04/2009 20:16

Wishingwell, good news about your af under the circumstances. I got 3 highs before my peak but i think it's common to get lots more especially when you first start using cbfm. My ewcm coincided with my highs.

Hope my accidental drinking binge on Saturday night and horrendous hangover yesterday don't mess up my chances this month. Oops. I just needed a blow out. Not ov until next Monday

Ilovebeingamummy · 13/04/2009 21:48

HI all.

WW- I got 3 highs and 2 peaks which I think is usual.

Unfortunately having them 8 days before end of cycle is not too usual...

Am praying that I get bfp and the progesterone pessaries help give it time to stick....

They are truly messy things though...Ugh!

Hi All,

I am new to this site!

I started using the CBFM almost 2 weeks ago (this is my 1st month using the CB) The monitor showed 'high' for 2 days and now 'peak' for 2 days (this is day 12. As this is my first month using it, I don't know what to expect!

Does anyone have a good experience with the monitor?

Thank you

NewMember

londonlexi · 15/04/2009 13:05

Hi NewMember, welcome. Good that you got highs and a couple of peaks straight away, hope you've managed to pin down your partner and make the most of it!

I think we're all pretty new to cbfm on this site, however if you search mumsnet for cbfm there are plenty of other threads telling of success using it. I certainly wouldn't have paid all that money without reading lots of success stories!

Good luck xx

NewMember · 15/04/2009 15:34

Thank you londonlexi

Ilovebeingamummy · 15/04/2009 22:19

Hi all

Well no side effects to the progesterone pessaries so far - now on CD31 of 34 and 7th day of using them.

Am praying that they hold off af for long enough to stand me a chance of a sticky bfp (assuming we bd'd enough on those peak days!)

....especially as I am away for the weekend and really don't want to deal with unwanted af whilst away...

Hope all well and dealing with waiting for peaks/af/bding ok

ILBAM xx

timmette · 16/04/2009 07:18

Hi everyone
Well on my first cycle of using the cbfm but it only started asking for sticks on day 12 is that right? Anyway now on day 14 and nothing still reading low - .
Hi NewMember - not an expert but I do know there was a trial done on another forum - not this one and I think on the whole it was a positive outcome as in they do work..

londonlexi · 16/04/2009 13:04

ILBAM, have a good weekend with no af.

Timette - not asking for sticks until day 12 sounds odd to me. I thought it was supposed to ask on day 6 for completely new cycles. Does the cbfm website have a help facility that you could ask?? I suppose it will still identify LH peak for peak days but could have missed the estrogen high for the high days, if you see what i mean? Just to be safe try and bd every other day from now so you don't miss anything. All fertility specialists i have seen have said this is sufficient to cover peak times - if you manage to identify peaks and can do the extra day obviously that will help.

NewMember · 16/04/2009 16:13

The monitor asked me for my 1st stick on day 6 straight through to this morning (day 14)! I had 1 high day, 2 peak days and then 1 more high! It is now showing low so think thats me for this month!

Fingers crossed
