Thank you everybody for your lovely messages. First Response showed up quick and clear yesterday - but I think I'm still in denial as I got that result than tripped off happily for dinner with my work team and ate steak... rare. What was I thinking?!

Jaamy that made me smile!

Beanie m'dear, how are you this morning?

Zen good luck at the docs today, hope they give you a nice early scan.

Biccy Thanks for the Deanna plan details. I might give that a go once my BIL moves out (supposed to be this week but so far he doesn't seem to be packing so lord knows what's going on there), at the moment we've been charting and targeting (although - TMI - there was some non-baby making sex recently and that was FAB, no need to lie there like a loon for ages and no stress!)

Ei, Claire, Migola, Mummy2, Mollie and everyone else - how are you guys? Any news?

Morning. I hope I have updated this ok? I have moved myself into the 'BFP but not ready to graduate' list.

Zen, not sure when your BFP was but have taken you off and put you in the same place as me so you can update it if you want to. Hope this is OK? Also hope your appointment goes ok and you get your early scan.

I am having a scan on 5th June by which time I should be about 7.5 weeks. Am not sure if I will then get another at 12 weeks.

Wave to migola how's it going? Not long now!

ShayeraHol I am still in shock! There are so many questions I want to ask from info about maternity bras to morning sickness.

Biccy congratulations, and don't worry about the rare stake I am sure it will be fine.

Jaamy my due date (from one of those online thingies) is January 16th. I love Clomid too. When I called IVF Wales they assumed I had had IVF too, so when I told them it was just my first round of clomid on its own the nurse was pretty shocked!

PistachioLemon am feeling fine, just dying to tell people. My friend is 4 months pregnant and it would be so lovely to have someone I know to talk to. My other best mate sent me a message last night saying we need to go out and get wrecked soon. Am going to see her tonight and will have to lie through my teeth!

Hope all are ok. Will keep popping in if that's ok. Am just keeping my fingers crossed for a healthy pregnancy.

Am going to bring the thread down, sorry:

This week have found out that I have suspected endometriosis, and husband has low sperm count.

Is there ANY point in carrying on with this, or should I just accept that it's not going to happen for us?

Report
ClaireDeLoon · 15/05/2009 11:53

Oh Shayera I'm sorry that's rotten news. Are you able to have treatment? I don't know much about endometriosis sorry. Are you seeing a doctor again to talk through how both of these impact thing? Lots of positive thoughts for you both, and how about some virtual carrot cake too, lots of frosting.

I've just been to see the doctor/nurse about my bleeding - they could see a small erosion as could the doctor but he has referred me onto a gynae. The doctor could see no obvious problems and didn't think a small erosion would be causing such bleeding. I have rung my health insurers, got the OK from them and booked in to see the gynae my doctor has referred me to privately so will see him on 26th May.

ShayeraHol · 15/05/2009 13:26

GP's feedback to husband was that there's a "process" that can help. Sounds IVF-like from the way he described it, but I need to do some searching this afternoon (have come home from work due to extreme emotional meltdown, not helped by the sheer number of pregnant people in my office at the moment). Seems like too many mountains to climb though - if they fix me, what guarantee that they can fix him and vice versa.

ShayeraHol · 15/05/2009 13:27

SHould have said thanks for thoughts & cake - sorry, am not on ball today! Going to eat chocolate, screw the diet for this week.

Report
beanieb · 15/05/2009 13:43

ShayeraHol sorry to hear your news and can understand why you are down. Is there anything your husband can do to boost his sperm up... ie giving up stuff, dosing himself up with vitamins etc?

They might not be able to 'fix' him but apparently there are many examples of men who have changed their habits and then been re-tested and seen a dramatic improvement.

As for the Endometriosis would you be against herbal remedies or accupuncture? I have a friend who swears it worked for her.

ClaireDeLoon hope you are ook and that they find out what it is. Sorry you have to wait a while to see your Gynae

ShayeraHol · 15/05/2009 15:50

GP was apparently pretty unhelpful - jumped straight to the assisted conception thing, no indication that there was a midpoint. Mind you, I don't know how low is low and if it's not even worth considering. Internet seems to suggest he needs to eat pumpkin seeds .

Don't think either of us are averse to herbal or acupuncture. Interesting to hear it worked for your friend, I might investigate.

Sorry for taking the buzz of happiness away

Shayera - so sorry to hear your news. Please don't give up. Pgs happen all the time against the odds. One of my BFs had endometriosis which wasn't diagnosed until they had been TTC for a good couple of years. We went to her 5yo's birthday party yesterday (she also has a 7yo!). And your DH has sperm!!! Hurray! Sorry if I'm making it all sound a bit simplistic and I'm sure the news has come as a shock. Forget the diet and make sure you have loads of chocolate in. Get something nice for DH as well because he's probably feeling a bit down too. Have a little laugh (and cry) about what a pair you are and then get yourselves some lovely appts sorted. x

Claire - it's good that appt is covered by insurers. Hopefully your appt on 26th (only 10 days away!) will show up something easy to fix.

Zen - How did you get on today?

Hope all the other little beans are keeping well.

ShayeraHol · 15/05/2009 15:57

It's a good point, Jaamy - could be a LOT worse. Think wine and Indian are the order of today for both of us (once we've gone for a run because we are now the getting fit Hol family)

Report
ClaireDeLoon · 15/05/2009 16:34

Break it down into manageable portions if looking at everything all together seems too daunting Shayera - what can you do help yourself with the endo, what can the doctors do to help you, what can your DH do to help himself, what can the doctors do to help him etc. Don't try to look it as a whole problem that will never be overcome but as a series of smaller problems that you can work on. And enjoy the indian and the wine.

Report
Jaamy · 15/05/2009 16:44

GP may well have seemed unhelpful just because they didn't know what to advise. Has DH been referred to fertility clinic? They will be better with the advise.

mmmm...enjoy the wine and indian. x

Jaamy skulks off to see what's in the cupboard for dinner...

I was already on a referral, so I think he just tag teams mine. My GP's alright, but he has a nasty bloke who is highly dismissive of people with medical issues . Course now that I've discovered what the procedure is thanks to some helpful people on another thread I can properly investigate (Mr Hol told me it was IPSOS which is a market research agency - don't think he's entirely taking this seriously!)

Good advice Claire, thanks. One step at a time and all that. Guess I need to turn this into a project, plans of action etc. - that kind of thing makes me happy. Project Baby Hol now instigated

And sorry for not saying earlier, but hope your appointment finds out what the problem is. Good job it's on insurance.

BTW, have we nearly run this thread out? And have we got a new name yet? Can't see if it's already been discussed.

Shayerhol Am so sorry to hear your news- its tough having a reason put to infertility but not as tough as having no reason- there is stuff you can work on and look into now Every disappointment is a blessing, onwards and upwards and all that

Without going back through the thread can I ask you a couple of things?

Have you had a laparoscopy? or an internal scan?

Has the GP suggested it is endo or have you seen a specialist? What symptoms do you have?

I only ask cos I was diagnosed this year after a laparoscopy (this is the ONLY way to diagnose endo) and my DH also has a few duff sperm. I have looked into the whole issue loads!!

Endometriosis UK have a fab website with loads of info and fertility friends also have some good advice- check them out. Arm yourself with info and you cant go wrong!!

Had an internal scan, which is what caused the suspicions - to be confirmed by the consultant if he agrees with the nurse, if yes then I go for lap & dye. Symptoms don't fit with what I knew of endo - periods aren't heavy or painful, but I get midcycle pain which I'm told (plus websites say) can be a symptom.

Still kind of hoping that it's all a big mistake though!

Can I ask how duff your hubby's sperm are? Am guessing that if you're mummy2olivia then you've overcome these obstacles!

I have a daughter with a previous partner but have conceived with my DH although it ended in MC

My DH has a high count but poor morphology (6%) and motility (43%)- cons isnt worried as says that high count makes up for it but its still a concern for us! We are fully expecting to need help at some point.

Midcycle pain is a symptom- my ovulation pain is so bad I cant sit down and have no control over my bowels (however I do have an adhesion to my ovary involving my bowel)- sorry if this is TMI but unfortunately for me its a reality!! Keeping a diary of pain helps me to pinpoint when in my cycle pain is occuring- this might help the cons when you get your referral. My lap and dye was in December and have had an internal scan since. I hope you dont mind me asking but do you have pain after the internal scan?

Another peice of advice- dont scare yourself on the internet- speak to experts and people who have been there and done it but please do not worry. It will be sorted!!! xxx any other questions- just ask away!!!

Hey guys

Well had scan today but they ended up doing an internal one, kept me waiting sooooo long i HAD to go to the loo!! Anyway they think my dates a a tiny bit off because of mmc in jan and I have only actually had 2 AF's since then. So they think just under 6 wks, could see sac and yol but not much else so did bloods and hae to go back tues for more and then another scan 2 weeks today. All in all they said that they are not worried it was the lovely midwife i saw last time, she said theres nothing saying that it wont progress normally. So am not too bothered at the moment and feel its better to stay a little detached until we know all is ok then will avoid so much heartache as last time.

Shayerahol - sorry of you news today, and unhelpfulneess of GP, when all we want is answers we never seem to get any closer x

Will catch up proper tomorrow completly zonked xxxxxxxxxx
