Looking for others who took clomid & hcg. I'm currently 4dpo & could really do with some sucess stories or anyone in a similar boat to me, to help me stay positive!

How are u Izzy? ~I've finally got a high on my monitor (2nd high this morning) so here's hoping for a peak very soon. Dh is worn out already!!! made the stupid mistake of bding for fun on my low days, just to prove i didn't just want it at baby making time! cd 17 today, hayzee whats ur update?

OP posts:
hayzee · 27/11/2008 19:40

nurse was supposed to call me back on tuesday but as yet i havent heard from them. I did call earlier and left a message but they still havent called me back, so no news as yet from me but as soon as i hear anything i will let you know.

Issy42 · 28/11/2008 13:33

Good luck Nicci. Not sure how the monitor works but presume high is bd time, so have fun.

Hope you've got hold of the nurse now Hayzee.

I went for scan this morning and lots of follicles around 1.2 and one at 1.5 so back on Monday and hoping nothing happens over the weekend. Asked the nurse about what next and she advised me to go for IVF. Apparently at my age there would be a 40-50% chance of success, but costs £2500-£3000 and would have to go to the clinic owned by my employer to keep same donor else would be waiting list for donor again. In some ways wish we'd had the discussion earlier as hadn't realised chance was so much higher than the 10% for IUI and might have been better to have stopped at 6 IUI attempts. But I am where I am. Will have to work out my finances over the weekend - though will have a better idea once I see what mortgage rates do on Monday (fixed-rate ends in January and am expecting a hike).

Good luck both.

hopefulnicci · 30/11/2008 10:29

Well i finally got my peak on the monitor (meaning ovulation happened sometime over last 48hrs!) Only i'm not exactly sure when, as my temp rose the morning of the peak reading also!? Somewhat confused me, did i ovulate before my peak reading? i'll attach my chart so you can see what i mean/give me ur opinions! Dh is absolutely worn out so not sure if we're gonna fit any more bding in!! Wish Fertilityfriend would have told me when i ovulated this morning. The monitors really simple to use, it measures your hormone levels daily giving u either a low, high or peak reading. Ur meant to bd every high and peak day, to maximise chance of conception! Hope ur both ok. here's the link to my chart x www.fertilityfriend.com/home/139770

OP posts:
Issy42 · 30/11/2008 16:28

Nicci - I can see why you're confused as you seem to have two temp rises. I noticed that your cover line on previous month was above the first rise though, so that may mean the second rise was ov, which would tie in with monitor reading. Either way you seem to have it covered with your bd timing. Good luck.

hopefulnicci · 30/11/2008 17:21

Bless you Izzy, thanks for the advice! x

Issy42 · 01/12/2008 23:24

You're welcome Nicci.

I had scan today - didn't take proper notice of my results as they were going to rescan on Wednesday - I definitely had two larger follicles, one on each ovary, but can't remember whether were 1.7 and 1.8 or 1.8 and 1.9, some 1.3s and 1.2s. Sometimes my follicles go to 1.8 and others they're well over 2 so never sure. I'm confused though. I used OPK this am pre-appointment and was -ve, then again about 12:30 and the lines were almost the same, which is as positive as I sometimes get, so told clinic they were the same. Since the OPK was so borderline I retested around 4pm and was def negative and again this evening so now I think I may have jumped the gun. Sorry TMI warning - trying so hard not to drink too much that at lunchtime could only manage 3 secs of poas so must have been concentrated, but for later tests peed in plastic cup to avoid the problem and was quite weak both times, despite trying hard not to drink in final 2 hours, so probably just that. Only clear result of all the testing is a dehydration headache! Used Ovitrelle tonight anyway as would be treated Wednesday anyway so thought I'd give those eggs best chance of being matured. Bodies - aren't they confusing!

Babydust to you both xx

hopefulnicci · 02/12/2008 05:48

Gosh it sure is confusing! That's the main reason i got the monitor, i'm rubbish at comparing lines on opk sticks, your follicles sound really promising!! Not too far behind me, FF has just put me at 3 dpo! (here we go again!) Oh what a christmas present a BFP would be for us. Fingers are tightly crossed! Hayzee have you spoken to the nurse yet? X

OP posts:
hayzee · 03/12/2008 11:12

hi
im getting so bloddy annoyed the nurse still hasnt called me even though i have left a message every day this week and a few last week so if the eggs were going to grow i would have missed it by now so just hoping nothing has happened. SO lets hope the new year will bring some better news as its clear nothing is going to happen. Speak to you both soon. xxx

hopefulnicci · 03/12/2008 19:10

Hayzee that's absolutely rubbish, is it an NHS fertility specialist? I hope u haven't missed anything/possible follicles. Keep ringing them, it's what i did in order to get my hcg script. Goodluck, Izzy how'd ur day go?

OP posts:
Issy42 · 03/12/2008 23:33

Hayzee echo Nicci about that being rubbish. I can never get through to my clinic on the phone, but they are better at responding to e-mails. Is there another number you could try? Perhaps your nurse is off sick or something. Really hope you get some answers soon. Very on your behalf.

IUI was OK today - cervix didn't play hide and seek for too long. Found the day really emotional though. I think because it was my last chance. Some good news though, they've changed the policy so you have to pay on the day now and I only got charged the pre-October rate. This is attempt 3 since the price went up but I haven't been billed for the others yet, so that's £450 extra for IVF! Can't see this attempt working - last time I had such good follicles and my day-21 progesterone was about 189 and it didn't work. Just don't see it happening. Trying not going to get my hopes up just to have them dashed again.

Good luck both xx

auntiemoo · 04/12/2008 14:14

Hi everyone

Was wondering if I can join your group. I have taken my first lot of clomid and am now on CD25 so waiting with baited breath for the dreaded AF. DH and I have been ttc for a little over 3 years and up to press consultant can't find any reason that it hasn't happened (good news but also frustrating) I take clomid on day 2-6 but didn't have hcg injection although had a scan on CD15 and nurse said had ov'd already and was about to ov again from other side. Will be gutted if I don't get BFP coz I know I will have had 2 chances this cycle but trying not to symptom spot or obsess too much Also I'm not sure if my cycle length will be affected by clomid as it is only my first go. Anyway here's hoping for sticky little beans for us all for xmas

hayzee · 04/12/2008 15:49

hi all
finally my nurse called me today, said that i have not ovulated this month so its not working as i thought, she is going to speak to my gyn tomorrow to find out if im going to continue on the clomid or try something else. Lets hope that i get some better news in 2009. Hope you are all keeping well and i will keep my fingers crossed for you all xxx.

hopefulnicci · 04/12/2008 17:50

Of course u can join us auntiemoo! sounds like we're in the 2ww together! I'm currently 5dpo. When is ur AF due? That's amazing that you've ovulated from both sides (possibility of twins!!!) I know you said u were trying not to symptom spot, but have u any signs? I've been feeling all sorts of twinges on left & right sides plus,(sorry tmi) i'm so wet down below, it's enough to wear a liner! Also i'm extremely snappy and tired. Are you charting aswell? Praying for some BFP's in time for christms. x Don't give up Hayzee, just bd for fun over christmas, who knows what might happen, maybe ur body needs a break from the drugs & will do it alone! How are you feeling Izzy?

OP posts:
auntiemoo · 04/12/2008 18:52

Hi all

nicci, my cycle is usually between 27 & 29 days so am expecting af around monday-ish Ok so tmi alert........ so far have had reeeeealy sore (.)(.) but usually they are a bit sore anyway, have got thick creamy cm (sorry did warn about tmi) am tired, grumpy and have funny feeling teeth (bizzare) I've had funny twinges on both sides around ov and a couple of times since. For someone who isn't symptom spotting I've mentioned quite a few I've never charted and wouldn't know where to start, up untill 6 months ago was working shifts so would have been difficult to chart then but have no excuse now.

hayzee Glad your nurse finally got in touch, it was poor they kept you waiting so long but sorry it wasn't better news hun. I think nicci may be right, eat, drink and be merry over chrimbo have a rest from the meds and who knows what santa may bring, don't give up, just have a rest

Maybe we should all send santa a letter telling him what we want for xmas

Fingers crossed and lots of babydust for all

Moo xxx

hopefulnicci · 04/12/2008 21:30

Moo, i enjoyed reading your post! I'm at work for the nxt 24hrs, but once home i'll send you a link, + i think i can get you some free trial days for a site called fertility friend. It makes charting simple! I'm a true poas'a'holic!! and i'm aiming not to test at all this cycle until i can see my temp is still elevated beyond my usual 10 day (or so)LP. Keep us posted! Chucking a load of babydust back at you x

OP posts:
Issy42 · 04/12/2008 23:45

Welcome moo. This is a really lovely thread. Funny teeth are meant to be a really good sign.

So sorry it didn't work for you Hayzee , perhaps they will try you on a stronger dose or with the GT injections instead. Hope something works for you soon.

Thanks for asking after me Nicci. I'm OK, just having the usual post injection nausea, but am determined to remember that it doesn't mean I'm pg , so if you catch me symptom spotting before next Thursday tell me to stop! Good luck with not testing.

Good luck all xxx .

auntiemoo · 05/12/2008 17:16

Hi all

Thanks for the welcome Issy, my fingers are crossed for you, hope the IUI works for you and brings you the bestest xmas pressie ever.

Nicci that'll be great thanks, will have a look at FF. I think I'm right in thinking that POAS means pee on a stick??? lol

Still feeling the same but am tring not to get hopes up because I think i read somewhere that clomid can give early pg symptoms so I'm trying to make myself believe thats what it is.

On another topic, the grumpy inspector made me take the xmas tree out of the office today OK to be fair i did put a 6 foot one up but I'm allowed to leave the tinsel up lol. The tree had been up a grand total of 2 hours before it had to be removed lol.

hope you are all well

hopefulnicci · 07/12/2008 17:36

OP posts:
Hopingforbabyno2 · 07/12/2008 19:18

Hello, sorry to butt in on ths thread but I want some advice. I'm having IUI this month and am taking clomid. I'm on day 5 today and wanted to know if it's OK to drink alcohol while taking clomid?

Thanks for any advice

hopefulnicci · 07/12/2008 19:47

Hi there hoping. As far as i'm aware the odd glass of wine won't have any affect. Obviously if ur ttc ur not going to out and get wasted are u?!! Actually a glass of wine may just relax you and in turn aid conception. Goodluck with the IUI. Keep us posted on how it all goes.x

OP posts:
Hopingforbabyno2 · 07/12/2008 20:06

Thanks hopeful, I will have a glass of wine at the Xmas party, this is my last go of IUI on the NHS - 1st go in March was successful but m/c after 6weeks, fertility clinic was then shut for refurbishment! Had second go last month but it failed, 3rd and final go on the NHS this month then it's IVF. I didn't want to have a glass or 2 of wine if it may harm my chances of getting pregnant. I'll probably be drunk on 2 glassess anyhow as it's been that long since I've had a drink . Cheers...

auntiemoo · 07/12/2008 21:05

Well I was right have started spotting so af will be here by morning, by god I hate her , I did test last night and was bfn so should have known. Am gonna have a little tipple tonight and start again with the madness tomorrow...........I knew I should've written to santa

Hope everyone else is well and am keeping my fingers (but not legs) crossed for you all

Issy42 · 07/12/2008 21:33

Thanks auntiemoo. Sorry AF arriving for you . So frustrating that progesterone makes us feel pg. Are you having the hcg injection too? - It makes me nauseous and gives me (TMI warning) thick white CM like I had when I was pg. I ignore it for a few days, but about a week later I always forget and start getting quietly excited. Then about 8dpo all the symptoms disappear and I get disappointed again.

Welcome hoping. I think it's OK to drink on Clomid - I just checked the leaflet that came with mine and it doesn't say you can't.

Hi Nicci and Hayzee. Hope you're OK.

I've had a stressful weekend. Big row with my ex last Tuesday and thought we'd sorted things out and went to a christmas fayre together yesterday, then got home and found an e-mail message he'd sent me a week and a half ago which made me really upset and so I've told him that's it - I'm not even going to try to do the friends thing anymore. Most of the time he's a really nice guy but he has no capacity for empathy and upsets me in a big way 2-3 times every year. I've had enough now, just want a stress-free time while ttc, but he was probably the best friend I had locally (when he wasn't upsetting me), so it was a really hard decision to make and feel very . Just hope all the stress hasn't affected my chances of success this month.

Babydust to all xx
