Looking for others who took clomid & hcg. I'm currently 4dpo & could really do with some sucess stories or anyone in a similar boat to me, to help me stay positive!

Sorry to read your news hayzee. I've just had my first cycle on clomid, but have had hcg injections 3 x before. Hospital says not to test for 3 weeks after injection, but previously miscarried at nearly 5 weeks, so test to see if hcg out of system. Usually test is positive 8/9 days after injection and negative two days later. This cycle, my 6th IUI attempt, have tested positive for last 4 days (9 to 12 after injection) using same tests. Was wondering whether clomid affects how long hcg stays in system? Difficult not to get excited as way too early, but also had strong reaction to paint fumes in my office yesterday - couldn't stay in room, felt so sick. Prob reading too much into it. Af due Saturday, so keeping fingers crossed.

hayzee · 22/10/2008 15:26

hi issy
what strength shot r u on i was on 10,000 and i was told not to test until 14 days after as it can give u a false positive, although some people say allow 1,000 for every day.I dont think the clomid makes the hcg stay in your system 4 longer, But i will keep my fingers crossed that u r pregnant it would b nice 2 hear some good news.

Issy42 · 22/10/2008 19:58

Thanks for the info hayzee. I don't know what strength I had, my hospital is not good at details and I've already recycled the box, but I'm pretty sure it has been the same every time. Tested negative today though on a test which is 87% on day -3 so probably not preg, just got excited especially as yesterday's test was in the evening, so less likely to be positive. I hate this waiting phase.

hopefulnicci · 24/10/2008 06:52

Hi Izzy, any news? I'm currently cd 14 CBFM (clearblue fertility monitor) still registering low! Having a month off the clomid/hcg in the hope i may ovulate on my own, lol!! How are you doing Hayzee, did AF arrive on it's own yet? Here's to getting our BFP in November!!! x

hi nicci

no it still hasnt arrived beginning 2 think the tabs have made my cycle so much worse than they was b4 as im now on day 46 n i have never gone this long n the nurse said there is a chance of the same happening again nxt month. They are going 2 c how it goes n dont no if they will up the dosage or try me on something else. So im gonna wait a bit longer b4 i take the tabs as feel taking tabs has mucked my body up enough n dont want 2 mess it up even more. Just waiting yet again. Dont think these tabs are gonna work 4 me but suppose i will just have 2 take each day at a time n c wot happens.

Hi nicci - had another bfn yesterday, small temperature drop today and feeling periody, so not holding up much hope. I think tomorrow's temperature will answer for me, though it's often higher on weekends as I sleep in.

I think it's good to give your body a rest from the drugs. I really don't like having hcg because of the false positives, but my clinic doesn't treat on Sundays, so have to have it if there's a risk of missing the right time. Would be so much easier to have a dh instead of di . Good luck!

Hayzee - hope your body sorts itself out soon.

Issy42 · 24/10/2008 21:47

Was posting about tests on another thread and my resolve went and just did test. It was a cheapy Sainsbury which I've had no problems with previously, but Tuesday night did two and got a faint line in the test window but an incomplete line in the control window (false positive due to hcg shot). I had a negative cb digital on Wednesday am and two clear negative Sainsburys ones on Wed eve and Thurs am. Way too much testing I know but it's just because of the injection. This time got same as Tues - a line in the test window but very, very faint this time but an incomplete control line. Don't know what to make of that. I'm going to try and ignore it and see what the clearblue digital gives tomorrow. Only have one left else would be tempted to test again tonight. Still feel periody though, definite cramps and the hcg shot means can't trust a positive until Thursday. I need a 'confused' smiley to end this post.

hopefulnicci · 25/10/2008 07:36

Izzy it's so confusing isn't it, everyone says use the digital tests, then there isn't the confusion of is there a line isn't there a line etc etc. But i just find the 'not pregnant' word so depressing & final. I think i kinda like the obsessing over the lines (i take the digitals apart anyway, regardless of the bfn just so that i can check those lines), LOL! I really hope u get a bfp this morning, after 6 IUI cycles i think it's ur time! x Hayzee, sorry AF hasn't arrived yet, hope it happens soon so that u can start the nxt cycle with me! Know doubt i'll still be waiting for O by the time u join me! It's naff just waiting for the nxt cycle to start isn't it?! Still thinking of u x

haven't read the full thread but just thought i'd share with you: I was taking the Clomid and having the HCG.I'm going back x 11 years now. After about my 4th/5th injection (was on Clomid for a while before started having injection too), I conceived. My dd1 is now 10 and then....I conceived "naturally" x twice and I now have three: 10,9 and 8!!!!so hope that's what you wanted to hear !

hopefulnicci · 25/10/2008 09:40

Thanks cutekids, it's gr8 to here your story. I'd love nothing more than to have 3 kids. i really hope i'm able to be in your position 10 years from now. x

Thanks Nicci. Unfortunately had temp nosedive today and tested anyway but used the last cheap Sainsbury one as I knew I was wasting my time. It was of course BFN and AF now just starting . Now I'm not sure when to start Clomid as I'm sure last month I got told to take first tablet on second full day of period and not to count the first day unless period started before noon. I rang clinic yesterday and got told day 1 is if it starts before 6pm (by the nurse the others all check everything with). Since spotting started just before noon, I'm sure will have full AF before 6pm. Why can't they give you consistent advice? Maybe I'll start a thread to ask what others are told.

Babydust to us all for next cycle. I will now be testing next around time mc baby was due and is day of my cousin's wedding so is going to be emotional. Am going to try to just test if late though.

miloopy · 25/10/2008 17:05

I had a hcg trigger last Saturday and had FSH injections rather than Clomid. I have just tested and it came up positive but from what this thread is saying that doesn't mean I am necessarily pregnant does it????

Issy42 · 25/10/2008 17:24

miloopy - my clinic says you can't trust a test for 3 weeks, but up until this week, I've always had a positive test up to day 8/9 after hcg then a negative two days later. This time though was positive 12 days after injection and maybe even last night (14 days after) and am not pg as AF arrived today. So in future I'm just not going to test until I'm late (at least that's the plan). Good luck, hope you have some good news in a week or so.

hopefulnicci · 25/10/2008 19:15

Izzy i'm so sorry for you, i'm thinking of you & sending lots of strength your way for the nxt cycle. Personally i'd take today as cd1 if AF is in full flow. We'll be there for you throughout the journey ahead to our bfp's. Keep in touch x
Miloopy, i was told it takes approx 10-14 days for the hcg to leave ur system depending on the strength they gave u. Was it 5000 or 10000? Goodluck & sticky vibes your way if it is bfp.x h

miloopy · 25/10/2008 19:50

Thanks for the info, thought it might be to good to be true, I shall keep my fingers crossed and wait! Good luck to everyone in the same boat. We will get there.

Issy42 · 25/10/2008 21:45

Thanks nicci, will definitely keep in touch. Any sign of ov for you yet? Here's hoping you will have a BFP on both OPK and HPT this cycle. I'll take more notice of what strength Ovitrelle I'm on this month, but I may not need it as CD14 will be a Friday.

hopefulnicci · 26/10/2008 06:44

Well girlies, i've got a glimmer of hope this morning, cd 17 for me, & i got a 'HIGH' reading on my monitor!! Here's hoping for that peak to follow shortly. Where are u at now Hayzee any sign of AF?

OP posts:
Issy42 · 26/10/2008 16:16

Excellent news nicci , hope this is your month.

hayzee · 26/10/2008 19:51

hi everyone
thats good news about your reading nicci
no sign of my period yet i have decided im not going to take the tabs as i emailed a fertility dr on the net and he has told me that it is highly unusual to be this late as i had the hcg shot as the clomid can make u late if taken on its on but it should not affect u if taken with the shot. Not sure what to do for the best, i know if i take the tabs i can get on with the next round but still unsure if bringing on my period is the right thing to do until im 100% sure im going to wait. Sorry i have not been on for a while but had so much going on here xmas shopping etc. Lets hope we all get some good news soon xxx.

hopefulnicci · 28/10/2008 07:26

Hayzee, i totally understand not wanting to take the tabs. I find it strange that you haven't yet had a period, as if you weren't pregnant the clomid and hcg together would regulate ur cycle causing a bleed, wouldn't they?. Maybe (don't wanna get your hopes up) but there's always the slim chance because you have irregular long cycles there's still a possibility u might be (despite the negative beta). Personally i'd wait for a period too- unless they can do an USS to see what's going on, if anything. Hope u find out soon.

OP posts:
hayzee · 28/10/2008 08:37

hi nicci
well i done another test yesterday n it came up negative so i figure that if i was pregnant then surely it would have shown by now. I decided to start taking the provera this morning there is no point delaying it i might as well just close the chapter on the 1st round and get ready 4 round 2 which hopefully will be alot better. Got to keep ur chin up n hope for the best. Hopefully we will all get pregnant b4 xmas n it would b the most wonderful pressie ever. xxx

hopefulnicci · 31/10/2008 07:21

Hows everyone doing? i'm quite excited, as i got a peak on my monitor all on my own (no clomid this cycle!) decided to give myself the hcg afterall, on the day of peak, as i remember the doctor saying i don't release the eggs on my own, so hopefully this will do the trick, now i'm just waiting for FF (fertility friend) to tell me when/if i ovulated! Hayzee are you going to try charting this cycle?

OP posts:
hayzee · 31/10/2008 08:55

no going to take the provera n then went my period arrives ill just start the clomid again n then go 2 hosp 4 my scans n have the hcg shot when its needed.
im so glad this month is going so well 4 u n u finally get pregnant without the need 4 the tabs.x

Issy42 · 01/11/2008 00:13

Hi nicci - great news. Here's hoping you have a BFP in a couple of weeks.

I've just taken my last clomid for this cycle. Had a hot flush in the middle of the night last night, but no headache today. First scan on Monday (I go on day 10 as previously ov'd on day 11 and missed treatment) so let's hope there's a couple of good eggs developing.

Hayzee are you having IUI at your clinic or just the scans, if you don't mind me asking?

hopefulnicci · 01/11/2008 06:42

Issy i was just logging on to ask after u! Lots of luck for Monday, positives vibes to u!! i'm officially 3 dpo (according to FF), it's the exciting bit of the TWW, hurry up and release that egg & we can be in it together again! x
