Well, I'd like to start this thread by saying a BIG FAT CONGRATULATIONS to everyone who has managed to get their BFP so far, and an equally huge dollop of luck to all those of us waiting for our BFP's!

Hi Gruffalo and Playing

Thanks for word of encouragement... Think issue with staying on drugs is unknown side effects.

Im definately staying here and will try not to worry. A healthy diet, and no stress has to be the best recipie.

this list is great. >

Babytime - since we started TTC 6 months ago my periods have been very different to usual, very short and light with hardly any cramps? Think it might be our minds playing tricks with us. I even believe at times i can feel kicks.
The first time my period was 1.5 days long i was just like you are now, holding on to every little ounce of hope that i was one of those that has a light period and still be pregnant. Unfortunately i was not. My last 2 periods have been short and light i guess just one of those things!
That is me, you may be different, fingers crossed that you get the BFP soon. Just wanted you to know that i have been where you are and it drove me and the DH mad!

GYO- i'm sorry about the decision you are faced with, it is a tough one. Especially when your DH is away and you have no one in RL to talk it through with. Have you found out with the increase would be if you stopped taking it? Is it low/high? Perhaps if you tried researching on the internet for figures this might help relieve the stress a little, what i mean is it could be a very slight increase. Sorry i can not be of more help, but please don't feel that you can not discuss it here.

I seem to be producing EWCM????? Or that is what it looks like so DH will be in for a surprise tonight...... I have never ovulated this late before but you have to cover every base don't ya girls

babytime · 14/07/2008 15:18

2beautifulgirls - ah thanks. I can beleive I am making myself feel this way. The mind is powerful

GYo - just wanted to make sure you didnt think I was telling to go elsewhere. Stay!!!!!

I just thought you should start up a new thread with that in the title just to get some other views on it x

tinkhasagorgeousbean · 14/07/2008 15:47

how mean babytime. i would try fmu tom morn good luck
gyo starting a new thread for thoughts is a good idea. i am on one prescription and would be upset if i was told to stop to so can imagine how you are feeling i hate change 2

GYo · 14/07/2008 16:10

Thanks everyone- I keep getting dragged into meetings- so annoying when I have MNing to do!!

Will investigate more on the drug thing.

Better run but back online tonight.

Playingthe9monthwait · 14/07/2008 16:40

I know exactly what you mean - work keeps getting in the way of my MN time too

Kalikaroo · 14/07/2008 17:02

Hi! Newbie here and mumsnet first-timer - hope it's ok if I stop lurking and pop in for a chat?

Last weekend me and DH decided to stop trying not to get pregnant (if that makes any sense!). My cycles are all over the place so I have no idea really when we should go for it, but hopefully I'll learn to see the signs as I go along (after reading these threads I've learned soooo much!). Some info - 28 yrs old, no DC (yet!), witch due to swoop in on her broomstick end of this week or sometime next week.

Cosmogirl · 14/07/2008 17:25

Hi guys,

Hope everyone's OK. Feeling so sluggish, hot and fat today - really not good. Also I keep having to fight urges to test, even though it is prob waay to early. Due to confusion over when I ovulated, think Fri would prob be earliest I could test. Don't feel particularly pregnant, just fat and awful. Sorry for the me me me post. Never normally feel like this - it's not nice...

tinkhasagorgeousbean · 14/07/2008 17:37

welcome kal we share loads of useful info in here. taking your temperature and charting it on fertility friend is great then you can get to know your cycle. also looking our for egg white cervical mucus - indication of ovulation
hi cosmo sorry to hear that you r feeling down hun
have some smiles

Diege · 14/07/2008 17:38

Hello!!!! Have been wanting to pop in all day, but annoying knocks on office door put paid to that! Students are getting their results today and tomorrow, so need to be 'on call' for them to cry into a pint celebrate and advise with!
Sorry to hear about all the confusing results/afs. 2BGirls, one of my first symptoms with this pregnancy was waking at 5.30ish, and also EWM later in in my cycle (after I'd ovulated). Fingers crossed! Same for you BABY - how odd having such a short af, esp as you had this with first pregnany.
Cals, hang on in there! I can feel your stress trying not to stress , but what an awful wait!
Playing, I still have only tiredness and sore boobs as symptoms. Never had a pregnancy like this before, and am SO enjoying it!(though see below)
GYO, I'm sure all will be fine. They advise caution with all drugs in pregnancy as their effects are untested, but at this early stage when the placenta hasn't even formed yet, there's no chance of harmful effects anyway (so I've read!). I think the 'risks' start at about 6.5/7 weeks of things passing to baby.
Hi TINKs, wow 14 weeks - am very of your neat bump by the way. Mine is not too dissimilar at 9 weeks, but it sort of hangs over my waistline like a man's gut . Still stuffing it into my size 8 skinnies though .
Hi KALIKAROO! Welcome to the thread - you will love it here . Where are you in your cycle??
Hi GRUFFALO . You are right, best to keep postive, and as PLAYING says, there's no point stressing as there's nothing we can do anyway! I have irrationally started to have feelings of dread about my dating scan. WE're away on hols when it's scheduled for, and I've purposely moved it until after the holiday (when I'll be 14 weeks) as it would be unbearable to find out bad news and then have to be on top form for dds when we're away . I have no 'evidence' to go on, just not used to feeling so 'well' . Just ignore me, stupid I know .
Right, I hear screaming from up the road so rugrats are back... Bye for now!

Cosmogirl · 14/07/2008 17:39

Thanks Tink . I prob sound daft but it is really getting to me. If it is a preg related feeling then cool, but if not I prob need to start diet/exercise regime, and not sure if that's the best idea when I'm ttc.....I know some of it is holiday weight too. Too many cornettos!

Diege · 14/07/2008 17:58

x-posts COSMO! I think a rarely issued wagon hug is required here! I think we all go through feeling bleughh, and on paper healthy diet/exercise is the way to go, but the last thing you feel like doing!

Cosmogirl · 14/07/2008 18:15

Thanks Diege - hopefully I will snap out of it before too long! Don't think being on the evil 2ww is helping because your mind plays tricks and you end up attributing every single feeling you have to a 'potential symptom'. Only another 10 days or so to go! arghh!

Diege · 14/07/2008 18:19

Oooh 10 days, that's a tough wait..I remember having symptoms one month when we hadn't even done it Still, my mind managed to relate it to some long-gone gof

2beautifulgirls · 14/07/2008 18:46

Welcome Kal Be warned MN and this thread in particular is very addictive and lucky. Just waiting for the lucky part to rub off on me

Cosmo, sorry you are feeling down, me me me away. We all have days, weeks and months when we feel like everything is against us. Well i certainly do, and TTC adds that extra hurdle that knocks you down everytime you face another month of am i, aren't i!

Diege i'm sure all is fine with your little bean, enjoy feeling so well before you start to waddle or is it just me that waddles when pregnant? So my symptoms of EWCM and waking at ungodly hour is good?

Still not getting my hopes up too much as can remember some the pregnancy symptoms i have now, i have had every month before AF.
I now feel like i am coming down with something, have a headache and freezing cold.

Anyone know what to do with a 2 year old that uses the potty to wee but poos anywhere but the potty. ie the sofa whilst i am busy cooking tea, then walks all over the lounge with it

calsworld · 14/07/2008 19:24

Welcome Kal - we'll have to be careful with our K's and C's otherwise we could get confused!

2bg - you sound same as me, headache and freezing cold, fingers crossed we're "coming down" with pregnancy!

I have no clue what to do with a 2 year old's poo's but am sure some of the more experienced on the thread will have some idea . Will also be quite interested in gathering some tips in preparation for dealing with DS!

Cals - fingers are definately crossed for us both to be duffed
When you due Cal?

Teuch · 14/07/2008 19:54

Hullo all!

Damn these frusrtating waits, eh? I hope we have some lovely bfp's over the next few days - we are definitely due some I think I have to go awol again, though, since it all seems to happen when I'm gone...

I'm 16wks now and waddling!!! I think my waist has gone up by about 11inches (although I don't know exactly what it was before...) . I look how I did at 7mths last time.

I will almost definitely have to leave my lovely island a month before due date and leave DH at home, but hopefully he'll get away 'in time'. I'm not going to worry about it just yet.

Where's Kay these days - she missing from antenatal thread too!

GruffaloSoldier · 14/07/2008 20:58

Good evening everyone

Welcome to Kal

I still have nothing to report, no AF, no BFP! I am super stressed about dissertation, as have to have first draft ready for Thursday and I am no where near and am nannying tomorrow and wednesday so looks like I'm not going to get much sleep the next few days

I am also feeling rather piggyish as I just ate a bag of cola bottles, a bag of chocolate buttons and almost finished a bag of marshmallows. All big bags too

I need the energy!

Was going to say some other stuff, not just about me, but now have forgotten what I just read - sorry! My brain is shrinking after all this stress and studying...

Ses15 · 14/07/2008 21:18

Hi All!

Welcome Kal and Busylady!

I've just been talking to DH about when to start ttc again. I keep thinking about it and part of me thinks that just thinking and not doing (so to speak!) is messing with my head. Although it was only 2 weeks after ERPC, I do think it was my AF last week. Have bought fertility thermometer today. Never used one before so if anyone has any tips, please share!
We have relatives staying from next Monday for 10 days so ttc probably won't be v easy but DH has just said we could try until then if I want to. Feels like a huge decision so maybe we'll be one of those not trying not to conceive couples for the next month and I can just use the thermometer to try and find out more about my cycle. Does that sound like someone not trying to not conceive??!! Hmmm....!
Kal - I think you said that you and your DH were going to start not trying not to conceive??!

Cal - I still think things are sounding good for you this month.

Those with BFNs and no AF - same applies. Don't lose hope as remember what NJ said about not getting a BFP until 9 days after AF due.

GYo - as a pharmacist, I can give you some text book stuff..... AS you said, Metformin is not licensed for use in PCOS. It is licensed for use in diabetes but in that instance it is normally substituted for insulin during pregnancy during all 3 trimesters. There is a risk of mc associated with PCOS but then there is with many other conditions (I suffer with an underactive thyroid which is a pre-disposing factor too). However the greater problem with PCOS is thought to be infertility through lack of ovulation so - not meaning to state the obvious - but the fact that you have your BFP puts you at a huge advantage. Many women will be able to find "reasons" why they think they may be likely to mc but try and just go with the positives and the liklihood of mc is still v low. I know it is a worry but it is true that you are so much more likely not to mc.

Ses15 · 14/07/2008 21:21

Oh and Teuch - I think Kay has been having internet access problems. Hope she's ok though. Sorry if I missed it but where is "your island"?? Is it as exotic as it sounds???

GruffaloSoldier · 14/07/2008 21:51

Hi Ses!

I think temping for a cycle in preparation for ttcing sounds like a good idea. If you are wanting to try it might be a good way to channel your 'urges' and then you will also be in a good position for when you do start trying again. But ultimately go with how you and your DH feel and if you think your body is ready.

If and when I finally do get AF I am thinking of temping next cycle too, Im getting more and more intrigued by what my body is doing and next month my dissertation should be out of the way completely so will be able to concentrate more fully on ttc.

On a more serious note I only have 2 marshmallows left and at least another hour before I have to give up studying and go to bed - what am I going to do to get through

Ses15 · 14/07/2008 21:54

Do you fancy sharing your marshmallows?? One for you and one for me as I have none!

Actually I'm not studying so maybe you should keep both as I'm sure marshmallows are v good brain food! I've just mopped the kitchen floor which I think is far too strenuous for 9.45pm but we have a couple coming for a second viewing on our house tomorrow night so I hope it'll be worth it.

calsworld · 14/07/2008 21:58

Evening all - DH bought us Chinese for tea tonight, which I struggled with a bit, there was too much and I just don't feel that hungry at the moment.

Teuch, lovely to hear from you - I've been missing some of the 'older' faces, (no offence to you or newbies! smile). I can't believe you're 16 weeks already - where has the time gone? Must confess, I'm a bit worried about Kay actually as she's been gone a long time - I've sent her an email and hope she will reply - although of course if she has internet issues its a bit unlikely .

2bg, well (are you sitting comfortably?) I've been POAS this last week, thinking I was due on Tuesday last week (based on my normal 31 day cycle) but that's because (don't ask, ...umm I've been busy ) I hadn't put two and two together....I forgot that I thought I might have OV'd on CD24 this month which would automatically delay AF to about Thurs this week. I'm not entirely sure of dates though because whilst I do keep a note of when period starts and finishes and what 'symptoms' I have, I haven't been using temping or OPK's to pinpoint OVing and don't seem to have much CM as a guidline either.

We've been using pre-seed this month so if I do get pg will be advocating it to the whole world! On the other hand, if I don't, will be ordering a bucket load more as have found it makes things very much more comfortable !

Hi Cal!

Right - I'm off to bed. Catch you all tomorrow!
