Well, I'd like to start this thread by saying a BIG FAT CONGRATULATIONS to everyone who has managed to get their BFP so far, and an equally huge dollop of luck to all those of us waiting for our BFP's!

Hi everyone,

Another BFN this morning for me and you guessed it, still no sign of AF! Might see how long I can wait now if she doesn't come, maybe a week?

KK sorry to hear of your BFN too. We will get through it though, whatever happens!

I am working again this morning on my dissertation then am going camping with DH and the IL's/BILS/BILs girlfriend and all the boys are going zorbing so I am looking forward to that. It will be a nice break for me even if I shouldn't actually be going (I have far too much work still to do).

monkeybumsmum · 12/07/2008 10:03

Good morning! I have just tried to catch up on some of the news - have been away for a while...

Congrats to all those with BFP's . That's great!

I got a BFP a week ago yesterday , so am v happy but nervous after having mc last time... Feeling a bit rough now, with an upset stomach to boot, uurrgghh.

Diege, was thinking of you when Rafa won Wimbledon, you must've been v happy! Have truly knackered out Mr Cowell, so thanks for letting me have him, but you can have him back now

m0nkeynuts, have just looked at your test, and my BFP looked just like that - think congratulations are in order!

Playing, wanted to say congrats to you too re BFP, was thrilled when I read your news. Here's to a happy and uneventful nine months...

calsworld · 12/07/2008 10:04

Grrrr someone slap me, another BFN this morning even though I'm not supposed to test till Monday. KK, you're right that we're not supposed to test till Monday with our suspected late OV's, coz when you OV late then add your regular luteal phase on the end, AF is guaranteed to be late.

Even so, should be detectable a couple of days before surely?

Having said that, I didn't get a BFP with DS until about 32 days. What CD are we today....Ah, CD33

I think I'm just having a random long cycle again like I did in February as still don't feel pregnant.

I'm not going to be on much over the weekend either, apart from anything else, I need to distract myself from this as am beginning to feel flutterings of stress about it - I'd be so much happier if AF had just arrived, feels like taking the piss to be late with BFN's.

m0nkey, just reread your post - when I looked at the pic I presumed that the smudges were from the camera (duh...) so maybe it is a faulty test. Do you have another one to try?

IMO those test are great. I got a v faint BFP on the day AF was due, and then a stronger one the next day. Think they are quite sensitive. Will have my fingers crossed that it is a +ve after all

Teuch · 12/07/2008 10:28

remember ladies - you have a very much reduced chance of picking up enough HcG before period is actually due, and many women don't build up enough HcG until well after period is late!!! If you search through the anti-testing threads you will find the stats of how many pg's are actually picked up beforehand.

I still love early testing as you only get false negatives It leaves that glimmer of hope each month...

Babytime, I realise you did get a line this month but false positives are so very, very rare I would tend to think that this was either an evap line or a very early mc, especially since your period seems different. Sorry for this month and roll on next month.

Teuch · 12/07/2008 10:29

M0nkey - I am just trying to get the large version of the HPT pic loaded up - but can I say I have never seen such a manky test!!

What on earth were you doing woman??!!

m0nkeynuts · 12/07/2008 10:46

Teuch - lol!!! It's horrid, isn't it?!?! It looked totally fine for the first few minutes, then it went all horrible. I did another test at the same time (one of the 25miu cassette-type ones) and it had a REALLY faint line as well ... Will try to hold off until FMU tomorrow before re-testing.

I know what you mean about early testing - I still love it too! I've had 5 pregnancies (3 losses) and I've had BFP before my AF date with every one of them, but it just makes me TERRIFIED until the AF date has passed!!

Still, as frustrating as it is to be squinting at super faint lines, I LOVE watching a faint line develop into a strong dark line over the course of a few days!!

GruffaloSoldier · 12/07/2008 10:49

Ok I have a question, when you see the EWCM do you count that as an ovulation day or do you add a certain amount of days (like 2/3?) for the latest day possible for ovulation? (Am I making sense?)

From a very confused Gruffalo

Cosmogirl · 12/07/2008 10:52

GS - I have read that the day you see the peak of EWCM is ov day. I thought I had ov'ed on day 14 this cycle coz I had lots plus pains in right ovary. Then, on day 16 I had loads of watery cm, which has confused me. So not sure whether I ov'ed 14 or 16 this cycle.

Teuch · 12/07/2008 10:52

Generally, if you can spot your ewcm then ovulation occurs on the last day of ewcm. So, the day it dries up, you count from the day before if you know what I mean.

Keep having sex, though, for a couple of days or longer, just in case. And, of course, if you see any more ewcm...although it is fairly common to get a bit (sometimes more yellowish) just before period.

Teuch · 12/07/2008 10:56

And remember that it is easy to confuse ewcm with semen, but there are ways of checking that if you really must

I was always very aware of ovarian pain at ovulation, but it can also occur beforehand (the ovary becomes quite swollen) or afterwards (apparently the fluid which accompanies ovulation can irritate the fallopian tubes).

Also, we sometimes gear up for ovulation then it doesn't happen until later in the cycle, so always keep vigilant and keep having sex!!

GruffaloSoldier · 12/07/2008 10:56

Oh Ok, I thought I might have miscalsulated therefore not due AF yet iyswim. I had some yellowish cm on Thursday so maybe AF isn't too far off afterall.

Thanks Teuch/cosmo.

GruffaloSoldier · 12/07/2008 11:00

Yeah me and DH been GOFing every other day this whole cycle and we are still going now I did think that maybe as my body might not be used to coming off the pill yet that I might of geared up for ovulation but not actually ovulated, although I don't think I have seen EWCM since!

GruffaloSoldier · 12/07/2008 11:01

*might have

Cosmogirl · 12/07/2008 11:03

I have been having some twinges - feels a bit like AFy cramps or ov pain, but I definitely must have ov now as am cd19 today. Do you think this could be a 'symptom' to spot? I never usually get this after ovulation...

babytime · 12/07/2008 12:04

Hello everyone

GY0 - that brought such a smile to my face about your dh looking at your tummy, what a sweet image

I am just thinking now about the 14th August no - sex sex sex

Positive thinking!!!

How is everyone else feeling today?

x

Diege · 12/07/2008 13:10

Afternoon all . Monkeynuts, looks like a positive to me, esp in light of you being only 11 days post ov? LOL at 'manky test', looks like it had been bashed about a bit . MONKEYBUM (I hope I have the right monkey!!) it's ok you can keep Simon if you like...my libido is zilch at the moment and don't think I would do him justice if you see what I mean.... Plus I am still experiencing the 'after glow' of Rafa......
Cals, hope you don't get too stressed out with the 2ww. I think it goes with the territory tbh. I used to be terribly disappointed when I was ttc dd3 (took 5 months) and was really down in the dumps when af appeared, but reminded myself that it was all part of it, and a few days into new cycle always felt more postive. Planning some treats for day of af helped too!
Hi to everyone else! Have had a dreadful migraine here for the last few days, but coming out of it now...oh and MARKING IS FINISHED!!! . Now I want my money!!!!
Have already got a few things ear marked - new pram, a few bits from IO, and to pay off my Next Directory account!!!
Will try and pop in later - weather rubbish as usual!!!

GruffaloSoldier · 12/07/2008 13:39

Right, I am off camping in Dorset now. see you all tomorrow!

Diege, thanks for words of support, I know I'll be fine once AF arrives, its just that each month I think I know what's going on and have it all covered, my cycle pattern changes to screw it all up again. This will be six unsuccessful months of TTC when AF arrives ....but like you say, I get all hopeful at the start of each month as it has too happen at some point and when it does it will be all the more exciting for having waited so long.

DH was quite blasé about it all as I told him that it would take ages first time round and we got BFP straight away, this time I think we both expected it to happen, now we're six months in I think even he's starting to wonder what's going on...although his word on it this morning was "you're the woman, you're supposed to know" .

Perhaps its about time I sat down and went through it all with him and showed him my chart so he can work it out?

I can't believe the sun is finally shining - its beautiful in my garden!
