Mowmi that's great news, come on embryos! How exciting, how do you feel?

flibbertywidget · 10/12/2008 21:28

Hi everyone
We are back. With two "perfect and lovely" embies on board. They were developed to blastocyst as with my first IVF. Unusually all the 15 embies defrosted, 6 have made it through to near blastocyst and 2 are "lovely" according to our embryologist. So I am waiting to hear whether or not they will refreeze the remaining 6. I got quite emotional about it today.

It has been a horrid mega stress for the past few days. my little girl has been poorly, which meant no sleep for me and DH and I have been hooge beatches to each other under the stress of it all.

Sooty - sorry to hear about your experience, that is horrendous and frankly unforgiveable.

Mowmi - I am keeping my fingers crossed for your embies and hope they continue to do really well.

Rowingboat - hope you manage to get your tests done and can then go over to Hungary.

LL - Are you now back in the UK? - I am on the pessaries, gestone injections, and oestrogen, aspirin and folic acid - I rattle when i walk. I will test 3 days after you on the 21st.

I am feeling completely different this time. Last time I had a panic attack that lasted 2 weeks and must have drunk a case of rescue remedy. This time I am totally chilled out. I think the acupuncture has really helped and the knowledge of my prior experience. I am now going to chill until I go back to work on 18th dec.

I am sure I will be bothering you all hourly!

take care all xxx

mowmi · 10/12/2008 21:35

I'm doing ok, was a bit stressed this morning - dreamt that only 1 had done anything and then the clinic didn't call until lunchtime - was convinced it was bad news!
I know what you mean fliberty - despite the above I feel quite a lot calmer this time - feel much better about everything - felt like I was in free fall last time!

Flibberty - that sounds great and good that you feel so positive and calm. I do hope they re-freeze the other embryos, fingers crossed for that.
Lottie - I tried taking a quarter of a soluble aspirin as part of my TTC campaign. I must admit I didn't mind the taste, but you can always just take it with some water.
Do you do any relaxation or visualisation. I keep reading how great it is, but I just can't get my head around visualisation. I do breathing though, to calm down. Think I will be doing a lot of that in the next couple of months.
Hugs to all the little embryos, hang on in there and grow big!!
Mowmi, I'm glad to hear you are feeling calm now you have your news.

Hi Ladies

I'm new on this thread but would like to say hello. We are a gay couple that had been trying to concieve through a known donor and home insems but are now going down the clinic road and are so excited.

We had our first appointment at the Homerton today. We saw the consultant, my dp had blood tests done, i booked in for a HSG, and we booked in to see the counsellor in Jan and the Nurse and 2nd Consultant appointment in March so i guess if all goes well we should start treatment in April ;D

We have chosen our donor and i'm speaking to the Embriologist tomorrow to sort out getting the swimmers shipped from the European Sperm Bank ;D

DIUI here we come

Hi all wow alot been happenin in past couple of weeks [big hug to soosy] hope everyone else is ok and hello to all newcomers. I am now on the waiting game for AF to start been getting the usual pains but nothing defo as yet, i phoned the clinic 2day to enquire if AF came over the wkend what would happen and they said dont panic just to phone and leave a message and they would take things from there getting well nervous now just hope that it all works out for the best and that hopefully 2 become 3 towards end of year. For anyone waiting to go on waiting list initially when i saw my Gynae i was advised that it was 12-18 mnths back in March but my local NHS trust had some money injected into it for IVF treatment and list was cut down to 6 mnths (it soon flies by) so dont despair,

Madoldbird · 12/12/2008 09:24

Morning ladies

Just popping back to see how everyone is doing...

Lottie I have everything crossed for you. Can't be long until test date, can it?

flibberty likewise, good luck for you too. Hang on in there, little ones!

mowmi thinking of you and your ET, hope it goes well.

sooty I was so sorry to read your news. Look after yourself.

Good luck to roseca, makingafamily & rowingboat with your approaching treatments.

Well, I had a scan on Wednesday, and saw TWO little heartbeats. We are over the moon, and it explains why i have been feeling so awful!! I just wanted to let you all know, to try and give hope that IVF can and does work. Good luck to you all. XXX

Hi lottie - at BFN although, of course it means absolutely nothing....... Really hope you can hold out until next Friday - I can't imagine how agonisingly impatient you feel, but early testing........ it's just not worth it.

Having said that - I'm almost as impatient to hear as you are, and am also counting the days....... Fingers still very tightly crossed for you!

Hello to everyone else - and best wishes on your journeys.

Lottie Just wanted to add that I did a cheeky test in the evening on 10dpo this month and BFN. So, as everyone says, it means nuffink! {mwah}

flibbertywidget · 12/12/2008 13:10

Hi everyone
Lottie -- Smacked wrists for you young lady.. get thee away from the POAS now. It will do nothing for you at all. I know how difficult it is. But hang in there chick.

Madoldbird -- GREAT news for you. Well done. Seeing the heartbeats is an amazing thing and means that this is a real positive milestone. Really happy for you.

making a family welcome to this board, my little girl is also donor conceived (via donor eggs - due to my ovarian cancer 10 yrs ago). This latest round of IVF which took place on Tues is Egg donation from the same amazing donor. It is a real journey, very emotional, but so worth it. Can I recommend you make contact with the Donor Conception Network. They are based in the UK and have a specific network for gay couples and are an amazing help and source of info. GOOD LUCKRoseca keeping fingers crossed for you

Rowingboat - Yes, I do lots of visualisation, i used natalhypnotherapy who have specific IVF and TTC CD which has some great pre EC and ET visualisations and then a post transfer one. I am a bit of a hippy chick and greatly believe in the power of the mind to help heal and support the body. During my first IVF, I had so many nayssayers telling me it wont work (these were the nurses at the docs giving me my daily gestone injections), I just brushed them off and thought whatever will be will be.

Sad new for our embryo's, they didn't progress, so the embryologist didn't refreeze. I am actually gutted. I thought we might have a few that would make it through.

We were in a similar position last time, only 2 made it to blastocyst stage, but fortunately it resulted in my LO. So fingers crossed we are as fortunate this time, as I don't think we could afford it again. Oh well, got to think about these beanies....

We have had a busy morning already. Went to a playgroup with my little girl (unfortunately not as much rest this time around!) and she screamed blue murder when she met Santa. I guess men in red suits and beards are a bit frightening when you are 19 months old. Bless her.

And then this afternoon, we are going to get our xmas tree.

Sorry for the long post...

rattling · 12/12/2008 15:10

Lottie - was hoping you'd start testing early as I don't know if I can wait for the 18th.

But 8dpo!! In the afternoon!!

I got a -ve (FMU) at 10 days past EC, then the barest smidge of a +ve at 11 days past EC.

MOB - more twins! Hope you get away with slightly less nausea than me. I had one day off at 10 weeks then it truly hit - I think there may have been a hormone surge as I suddenly am quite clearly pregnant. No-one has noticed at work yet, but I think I may have to admit all once I come back from my 3 week Christmas break.

MOB - Congratulations, such lovely news!!

LL - I wont say anything...i did it last time and I wont do it again...it's no good for you it really brought me down even though I knew it couldn't be trusted!

Fliberty - when's your test date?

Had 2 embies put back this lunchtime - 1 grade 1, 1 grade 2, there is another embie at 6 cells but it's been a bit slow to get there so we're going to leave it to see if it gets to blast before freezing it.

let's hope all these little embies are sticky and comfy where they are.

hugs to everyone x

flibbertywidget · 12/12/2008 22:41

MOWMI - Great news on your ET.. . I test on 21st of Dec, how about you?

spook · 13/12/2008 08:55

Hi everyone. Sooo much has happened on this thread since I last posted (I was due to start treatment in October but then had a miscarriage)
Two sets of twins !!! Congratulations!
Hang on in there LL,Flibberty and Mowmi. It must be an excruciating wait. I'm really not looking forward to that bit tbh.
Sooty-how bloody awful for you. I'm so sorry and hope you get some answers.
Anyway-I am finally starting the rocky road to assisted conception. I am just about to go and have my very first sniffter All feels a bit unreal really after waiting for a year but I'm quite glad its over Christmas because I'll be too busy to think about it all too much.
At last I can join you all officially!

mowmi · 13/12/2008 13:32

Hi Spook, Where you at? have you started?
Flibberty my test date is 23rd so LL first, then you, then me! let's hope that christmas baby dust and embie glue is lucky for us all.
Feel ok, trying to tell myself it's only a week really (?) I've pretty much finished work now until the 5th Jan. stored up a load of holiday so I could stay away (i blame a horrid stressful time at work for the first round not working!) just going to take it easy and get sorted for Xmas! Couple of lunches, bit of shopping...! hope I don't drive myself mad!
How you feeling today? ulcers are vile!
Been listening to the zita west 2ww relaxation cd this morning...really chilled me out - I'm pretty crap at all that visualisation stuff (think I must have a crap imagination!!) but I managed it much better with zita in my ear!
I had accupunture pre and post transfer too.
LL - how you doing?
Hello to everyone else.

WHO DOES EVERYONE WANT TO WIN X FACTOR?

mowmi · 13/12/2008 13:34

sorry spook I am dense...you've gone for your first snifter! doh. hope it went well!

Lottie stop it! [smacks hand holding]. I agree, it is good to be prepared for a negative (just in case) but don't make yourself stressed more than necessary. It does seem a bit early for the hormones to give you a positive. Don't they have to build up to a high enough level? Sending you hugs and sorry the 2WW is so horrid.
Mowmi - I like Alexandra best and Eggie second. I don't think there are enough strong singers in JLF (?) for them to win.
There are so many posts on here today that I can't take it all in.
I'm a new person too, so welcome to everyone new and good luck to us all.
Rattling, that's great news on your scan, I ate five hundred packets of Rennies when I was pg with my DS - probably why he has such strong bones. It's good to hear your positive endorsement of the ERI.
We are swaying towards the clinic in Hungary to have more embryos transferred - I am 42 and have been advised that more is good at my age.
Do you live in Edinburgh?

Lottie, as far as I know the ERI will transfer two. Well, that's what the literature they sent me said, so perhaps they might do more? It's interesting that you mention that: I thought it was two max, so perhaps we will stay here.
The clinic in Hungary recommended three, but I know they can transfer more. I suppose it depends on how many there are and the quality. If there were four embyros, but all poor then they might transfer all. It's just having the option if things don't go well with the fertilisation.
I would prefer three.
How are you feeling?
