Hi Nappyvalley,
Thanks for your message, I am on the less aggressive protocol, I started downregging on day 21 and am due for a blood test on 23 Sept to see how its going.

Best of luck to everyone

mowmi i am sorry you are feeling so low. You just never know and from what I have read it is normal to have AF style cramps and even bleeding. Don't give up hope and send those blasts form positive love to hang in there. My clinic says that lots of perfect babies are born from imperfect embryos.

i am sorry that they could not freeze any for you though.

hang in there and will be thinking of you this week.

Hey Mowmi don't worry about the cramps. I had them last time and people on this site said they had them on successful cycles. Mine wasn't successful, but my theory is that the cramps were related to the egg collection not the transfer/outcome . . . .

sootykalucy · 07/09/2008 20:45

And as for stress . . . people have pregnancies / babies in stressful situations ALL THE TIME - after rape, during war, in refugee camps. . . .the list goes on. Put on the kettle, get out the biscuits . . .

nomoremagnolia · 07/09/2008 21:50

Just popping in to say hi to everyone, nice to see some new faces - well not nice that you have to be here but you know what I mean... Sorry I've not been around much, would some kind person care to give me a summary of where everyone's at?
Mowmi - fingers super tightly crossed for you I had 16 fertilise (of 18 IIRC) but none to freeze. I was gutted at the time but the clinic told me afterwards that getting embies for freezing is the exception not the rule. Try not to add to the stress by worrying (hard I know) Sending very big ((((hugs)))) to you.

mowmi · 07/09/2008 22:09

Thanks everyone - my mood has lifted a bit mostly thanks to you ladies...
Sooty - you are so right , it's so easy to get wrapped up in this rollercoaster - women still have children in the most horrible circumstances imaginable - some unreasonable clients are nothing in comparison! - took your advice and had a nice bit of rhubarb crumble!

Hope you are all well tonight.

Hi Bucky

No sperm analysis needed for DH - he's not producing any sperm according to the tests he's had so far. He needs tests to see if there is any blockage and / or whether sperm can be extracted using TESA / PESA / MESA (not sure what the full names for these terms are, but basically it means whether sperm can be found within the testes). I'm not sure, but from what I've read, we think he also needs a testicular biopsy.

Lottie, looking forward to hear how you get on with Scan Health. It sounds promising doesn't it? I didn't realise the initial consultation was free (must have failed to read that bit!), but if that includes tests I may just speak to DH (have already forwarded details, but he wants to see what the NHS say as they are free and we need all the pennies we have at the moment).

glastochick · 08/09/2008 12:37

Mowmi, just read your update. Sending you hugs and positive sticky vibes. How are you doing today

nomoremagnolia

here is the sit rep as I know it...

OnionLove & I (& rah ?) are downregging

Lottie & Bucky are being undercover agents for Operation Norway (aka IVF for half the cost) with ScanHealth.

Mowmi is due to test next weekend

That's all I know, sorry if I have left anyone out!

glastochick · 08/09/2008 13:26

Oh Lottie, that is good news. Must be exciting to finally know the ball is rolling for you.

Yes, we're still waiting for another appointment. The letter referring DH to the Urologist had got 'lost'. He had to go to our hospital on Friday because no one was answering the phones and they do not reply to answerphone message . After waiting all morning for someone to speak to him, he was told they had not heard of him or me, so he went to the infertility department and they gave him a copy of the referral letter and promised him they would walk a second copy up to the Urology dept. At least now we know who he has been referred to and we can ask to speak to his secretary if we don't hear anything. However, we're going on holiday on Saturday for 2 weeks so I don't think we're going to hear anything before then anyway.

If Norway could do whatever it is that needs to be done to DH to confirm whether we can conceive his baby we'll be over there like a shot. That's all I want to know at the moment.

NappyValley · 08/09/2008 17:37

Glasto have you thought of getting a quote from a private clinic? as I wish I had just gone striaght there rather than hanging around in limbo's ville with the NHS for a year. the cost to do the initial investigations was not that great compared to the stress of waiting around?? it must be very frustrating. I hope you have a lovely holiday none the less.

Start up appointment went well today. We filled in form after form after form and have to do first injection tonight! ouch!!!

Hopefully as my luteal phase is normally v short, it will not take 2 weeks to shut off my hormones.mmm we'll see.

Ready for the roller coaster ride - here we go..........

I finally got my period today after a five week wait after my abandoned cycle, never been so happy to see blood ! Seems like it has been forever before I could move on the from the failure and I do feel more optimistic today . . . . I have an appt with Dr Nargund at Create which is my backup plan for my Oct/Nov cycle if the NHS fails me.

Good luck to all the Norwegian posse, the prices do seem very reasonable . . . and nice to visit anyway - beats catching the bus to Homerton @!£@£($&

Hang in there Mowmi, I am really hoping that you are going to turn this thread around . . .

NappyValley · 08/09/2008 21:15

OK did first burselin injection tonight.(for those experienced I will be doing others in the morning)

and was very please that I was able to get the needle in no probs, but once I took it out, then it really started to hurt and it had taken 30mins for the redness and lump to go down.

Normal???

I am not sure how I am supposed to do this in the morning before I get up when I have a mischievous toddler (for which I am eternally grateful for) who could get up any time. guess I will have to set the alarm early & stab myself OR be a naughty mum and get him up dressed and stationed in front of cBeebies with toast, and then go back to bed and do it.

Any tips from the more experienced of you?

Sooty - "glad" your af has come and you can think about your next options.

nomoremagnolia · 08/09/2008 21:35

NV ice the area first - ice cube in a food bag (teatowel too thick) then it numbs the site and also stops bruising. were you told to do them in the morning? mine were always at the same time each eve.

nomoremagnolia · 08/09/2008 21:37

burselin is dr drug? not egg growing drug? if so ignore comment about timings - guss you will be dong them morning and night? excuse bad one finger typing, cat is asleep on other hand! also ignore daft phrasing of drugs too tired to think of the proper terms

soosy · 08/09/2008 22:16

Nappy I do mine in evening after toddler has gone to bed, it doesn't matter what time of day you do the jabs as long as it is the same time each day. I would try and do it when toddler not around so you won't be distracted. When I did Buserilin it was once a day .25ml. I never iced and found the flabby bit around my tummy button, flabbier since DS, is a good place with few blood vessels, practise, makes perfect, or is that practice, apologies from c**p english.

sooty, glad you can make plans

Mowmi, wishing everything for you.

OAP how's it going?

Less than a month until my follow up appointment!

Sx

My eyes need matchsticks to I am going to log off now, hope you all had a good day today.
