Hi

Not really sure what I'm looking for here but if nothing else I'll use this as a diary of my feelings etc. I joined a chat years ago for my first pregnancy and am still friends with some of those lovely ladies so hoping to find some people who are on their TTC journey and we can share experiences l.

As the title suggests I'm 42, I have two beautiful children aged 7 and 9, we decided to try for another baby a year or so again, I needed to lose some weight so did that although I'm still overweight according to my BMI but you know how it is... I'm fairly average at a size 14-16. I still have very regular cycles and don't believe I'm anywhere near the menopause yet....

Anyways, I'm 9dpo I think, I don't do opk or anything like that, tried one month but didn't enjoy feeling obsessed over it and it didn't work anyway..I feel I know my body quite well and am aware of the signs of when I'm ovulating if I am. With our first child it took a good 2 years with one chemical pregnancy in that time before.ewe actually got our baby. With our second child...well we thought about trying and then I was pregnant... Amazing how that happens isn't it!?

So here I am, 9dpo and with virtually no discharge at all. 2 days ago I had a huge amount of white cm that was abit stretchy. I've had a headache on and off and been soooo unbelievably emotional. This isn't normal for me but we are going through quite a bit with our youngest and other normal life events so may be that I suppose. I've had sore breasts and I swear they are bigger if that is even possible!.maybe just very slight cramps over the past couple of days but that maybe only.when I'm thinking about it...

Anyone else at this stage and fancy a buddy to compare notes? I'd love to chat.

We're on our 3rd cycle of trying.
Although I don't think we've had optimal timing, and it's about 3 months since starting various supplements including for low ferratin and ubiquitol so they are kicking in now hopefully (definitely feeling miles better on the iron).

I'm about 9 dpo.

At 44 after 3 cycles I'm wondering whether we make an appointment with a clinic to see if they have any thoughts to assist, as time is limited. Equally I don't feel we've had the best timing and the nutrient deficit won't have helped. Still thinking about it.

I have family and friends due this month (2nd babies) and next, and there's so much chatter about it.

I'm so sorry, glad you came back but do look after yourself and do what you need x

Thank you, I’m doing ok and feel like I’ll be alright if my period arrives, but that may change when it actually happens!

Sonic85 · 09/05/2026 16:15

Congratulations @DmcinT 🎉That’s fantastic news and it’s nice to have some hope on the thread!

Im really sorry to hear your news @ChasingRainbow5. Please take care of yourself and I’m wishing you the best this cycle 🤞

I’m doing OK, coming up to fertile week I think, but not thinking about it too much. I’ve actually kind of given up hope of it happening naturally and I booked a consultation with a fertility clinic to pursue IVF. Of course that may not work either, but I think I would regret not trying everything I can

ChasingRainbow5 · 09/05/2026 17:57

Thanks @Sonic85💕

When is your consultation? It’ll be great to find out your options and make an informed decision, whatever happens x

Littlebuzz · 10/05/2026 08:30

That's a negative for me at 10 dpo.

I'm not sure ivf will be an option for me given level of egg reserves, but will be interested to speak to a clinic and see if there are other things they can help with or suggest.

Sonic85 · 10/05/2026 12:15

Sorry about the negative test @Littlebuzz

I haven’t been given a definite date for the appointment yet but told it would be in 6-8 weeks. There’s only one clinic in my area and unfortunately it’s just not practical to travel further afield. I’ve looked up reviews for the clinic which said the process went pretty quickly after the initial consultation, so I hope it won’t take too long.

I’m not sure about my egg reserve as haven’t had an AMH test or scan yet. Trying to stay positive 😊

ChasingRainbow5 · 11/05/2026 08:45

I got a faint positive yesterday at lunchtime and a stronger line this morning with FMU, I'm 11DPO. Don't really know how I feel, mild terror comes to mind..!

TheFutureIs · 11/05/2026 18:06

Tentative congratulations @ChasingRainbow5

Sonic85 · 11/05/2026 20:44

Also sending you tentative congratulations @ChasingRainbow5

DmcinT · 11/05/2026 22:33

Aw congrats @ChasingRainbow5 we are very close on dates I’d imagine ❤️

ChasingRainbow5 · 12/05/2026 09:54

@DmcinT based on ovulation I’d be 21 Jan.

I just realised that I’ll be at the same point I miscarried (6.5 weeks) on my son’s birthday so that’s a whole new level of stress 🙃

Hugs. I was the same when pregnant last year - with a very similar loss under my belt 3 months before - I realised I would hit 6 weeks around DD2’s birthday. Those first few weeks (probably up until my 12 week scan, even though I also had one at 8+5) were petrifying. My baby is now squealing happily beside me on the sofa!

Hi everybody, not sure this sort of downer post is OK, but I just needed to share on a hard day. I'm 42 and I came off birth control about 18 months ago. Trying since without any luck. All tests positive, including AMH etc., good for age - they were done about six months ago. My saving grace has been that I had clockwork 27 day cycles, ovulating on day 15, the entire time.

Now suddenly my cycles are longer three out of the last four months. One 39 days, one 30 days, the last was 26, and now I'm on 31 days and still waiting. I feel something must have shifted hormonally, and it has me really down as if the window is closing further.

Honestly, I'm finding it really hard to cope. I'm trying for my first and I feel I've just lived life all backwards and unsure how I let this happen. I feel like I'm grieving for this idea of a child.

With every long cycle I simultaneously feel the excitement of possibility, and the dread that it will turn into just a long cycle, and me going closer towards peri. So I almost want my period to arrive just so I'm at least still regular. And then I let the hope get the better of me and I take a test, and it's negative, and I feel silly for holding out hope.

I'm sorry for being negative. I do love all the hope here. I just feel quite alone with all this.

curliegirlie · 13/05/2026 22:14

@wholeeverythingif helps at all, even though during this last TTC stint my cycles were relatively regular, after the MC last March I had a 30 day cycle where temps were all over the place and I didn’t get a positive OPK, followed by a 17 day cycle where my positive OPK was on CD6 🤯. I conceived the cycle after that!

TheFutureIs · Yesterday 07:27

@curliegirliethis is giving me a little hope. My cycle has been all over the place too

Sonic85 · Yesterday 11:10

@curliegirlie your story is really inspiring. I’m sorry you went through so much, but so glad it all worked out 😊

@wholeeverything I’m so sorry you are going through this. I can hear the pain, disappointment and frustration in your post. This journey is very tough, and the uncertainty and all the unknowns make it unbearable at times.
Could the wonky cycles be caused by a mc? I don’t know if you test every month. I had two strange cycles recently and I suspect I had a chemical the cycle before, but no way to know for certain as I didn’t test. My cycles were always quite irregular and long but they have become more regular as I got older 🤷🏻‍♀️ Supposedly that can be a sign of PCOS but I don’t think I have that. I think cycles can also just go a bit off sometimes for various reasons like stress, illness etc.

FiB83 · Today 10:39

Hi all, congratulations to this ewith their bfp! I got abut in my head as well so went quiet for a about. AF is really due today but nothing yet although I am on holiday so perhaps that is playing some part. Anyways no bfp so who knows what is going on.
I'm slowly losing some weigh which can only be a good thing I suppose.

Today is cd 27 so perhaps I just ovulated a bit later I don't test for this so wouldn't have an exact idea.

Love that there are so many women in a similar situation to me and that we can openly talk. If I don't get a bfp soon I will definitely be booking some investigations
