TTC Baby #3 Not our first rodeo 🤠

I thought I’d start a thread for those TTC baby number 3 (and beyond, feel free to join!) It would be nice to share experiences. I feel like where I’m from 3 is the new 2 😅 but I’ve always felt like I wanted a bigger family anyway (I am 1 of 4!)

For background, DD1 has just turned 6 and DD2 has just turned 4. I’m on cycle #2, AF due in a couple of days but I’m testing BFN so roll on cycle #3. I was really hoping to catch before November so baby would only be 4 school years behind DD2 🙈 but what will be will be!

DD1 took 15 cycles

DD2 took 1 cycle

Anyone else??? X

Hello everyone @olivehush 👋 I'm a little late but can I join this thread?! We just decided to pull the trigger and go for a third after a couple years of indecision, which I'm finding crazy and exciting! I just turned 40 and our older two are 3 and 7, so it very much feels like a now or never! I know the chances of conception are low at my age but both our mums had babies into their 40s so it seems possible. Eeek!

ahh keeping my fingers crossed it turns into something @mummatara definitely test tonight! Hold that wee in as long as poss 🤣 I am 11dpo today and haven’t felt remotely tempted to test…I don’t feel pregnant at all, but then again I felt pregnant last month as wasn’t so doesn’t really mean anything does it haha. First time ever I have had really bad lower back pain on the left?! Leaning towards AF because of that. I reckon I’ll be able to hold out until Sunday to see if AF shows up!

aww congratulations on seeing your little jelly bean @MamaO88 did they work out how many weeks or still too early?

welcome welcome @Anonna123 definitely still in with a chance! So are you on cycle 1? I definitely feel the same way about a 3rd, I’m the most excited I’ve ever been to get pregnant…but also feel like I’m a bit crazy for wanting to go again hahaha

@olivehush thank you! It's something we've been on-off discussing for a while and we've decided to just go for it, knowing the chances are relatively low but I just can't get the idea out of my head that there's someone missing from our family. Did you feel this way?

There are so many reasons not to - our house and car would be too small, our existing two kids are healthy and happy (not a guarantee for a third child), I have high risk pregnancies, life is easy now.....! And yet....We've decided to leave it to fate and try for the next few months. My feeling is, if it's meant to be it will happen soon-ish! We made the decision yesterday and my (hopefully!) fertile week is coming up next week!

@olivehushlower backache has been one of my symptoms last few pregnancies. It was horrendous with DS2. Got everything crossed for you. I have no symptoms whatsoever. I will report back on tonight’s findings 🤣 I’m not going to get my hopes up yet the boots test really looked like an indent shadow and it was too hard to tell either way on the easy at homes but my brain is just like you can’t possibly have 3 indents surely 🤷🏼‍♀️ only a few days to wait for you but I’m hoping she’s a no show 🤞🏼

Well the line is def there and not so squinty 🙈 I’m sure my boots test from this morning is just an indent as there’s no colour to it now it’s dried. I didn’t have any boots tests left so just traipsed out to get some 😅

@olivehush @mummatara I thought I was 7w 3d at the scan, she dated it 7w 1d but said that is just an average for the size measurement and that it would be corrected at the 12 week NHS scan. I’m pretty sure on my dates though so it’s not a million miles off! 8 weeks tomorrow, feel like it’s going to drag until the scan now!

@MamaO88i try not to get too excited but there is always a lil voice saying maybe this is the one 🤞🏼 I’ve only ever had one positive test this early before and that turned out to be a blighted ovum 🙄 so I don’t know whether it’s a good thing for an early positive or not but I can’t change any outcome just have to hope it sticks. My boots test now has a vvvvvfl and it’s pink so I think that probably means that the easy at homes just picked it up sooner this morning. Oh I’m so pleased you’re where you thought you were. A couple of days either side is pretty normal for an early scan they do usually catch up by 12 weeks. We’re your DC excited?

The kids were so excited, they’ve told their teachers already 🙈😅

@mummatara I can see the lines very clearly and I'm usually terrible with the squinters people post on this forum. Fingers crossed! 😊

It dawned on me today that I'm friends with several parents, only 2 of them have more than two kids. And only one was done intentionally, doesn't help in wondering if we're mad.😅 Then again I'm in London region and have been visiting primary schools for DC1, and the birthrate decline has come up a few times.

@Outside9 Having two kids is very much the norm in our friendship circle too! My husband and I are both one of 4 though, and always said we'd have 3 kids. I have a hard time letting that idea go, hence the mad TTC 😂 I love having a tribe of siblings.

@Anonna123 I'm the youngest of 6, (13 if I include paternal siblings I've never met but messaged in ought other countries). DP is oldest of 4.

So similar to you we have appreciated benefit of a sibling tribe. Though it wasn't uncommon for friends to have multiple siblings as a kid. Times have certainly changed!

That said, don't we'd regret it. Just a natural discomfort in being an outlier I suppose.

@Outside9 when we were growing up it was unusual to see only children but I think it's become much more common now. Certainly when we were living in London I'd say almost half the kids in my son's preschool class were only children to older parents. I can totally see the benefits of having just one child (especially for the environment) but the heart wants what it wants, doesn't it!

Omg, no doubt about that @mummatara !! Eeeeeek congrats!!! What DPO were these tests?

I MAY HAVE just caved and ordered some cheapie tests in Amazon 🤦‍♀️ they come tomorrow. There’s no way I’ll be able to have tests in the house and not use them. I have made peace with this cycle though and if it’s BFN that’s ok for me as I can have a nice boozy festive season 🤣🥂 it’s my favourite time of year!

Ive had some stop me in my tracks AF cramps tonight as well so not feeling hopeful.

I have no idea what to think this morning 😅 FMU dipped easy at home and line appears. Dipped boots and it’s stark negative 🤷🏼‍♀️ waited an hour did another wee and dipped another boots line appears 🤔 never had this happen before

Forgot to add lines look slightly darker than last night too so there’s obv progression

@mummatara sounds like one of the Boots tests was defective if you got a line on two other tests! I'd be out buying 10 more tests just to make sure 😅

@Anonna123its so weird. I’ve taken a lot of tests in my time and this has never happened 🤷🏼‍♀️ lol I have more tests but I will wait until tomorrow probably 😂might dip a strip as I don’t mind wasting those. I am so confused the boots tests have never done me a dirty before they are my go to test

@mummatara That is weird! I can see the progression on those lines though 🤩 Sometimes you do get a dud test. I'm still bitter about that extortionate pack of First Response tests I bought back in 2021 that just didn't work 😂

@Anonna123oh no really that’s bad 😳what did they do? frer was my go to test for ages but then you couldn’t get hold of them in the uk for ages in like 22/23 I think it was so I switched to boots. I did think about buying some frer on Amazon last week but boots were slightly cheaper so I went with those again 😂

@mummatara well you know when you pee on them and they go light pink all the way across before the control line appears? They just went light pink and never faded. On one the control line appeared but it never did on the other. I swear by One Step strips for the constant testing and then clear response digital for confirmation!

@Anonna123oooh that’s bad I’ve never heard of a test doing that 😳 see I don’t like one steps 😂 I like easy at home as my strip waste as many as you want test

@mummatara agree, looks like a dud test to me! Definitely darker today! Looking good so far 🤩

UGH not the update I wanted to give…I’ve just started spotting 🙁 so AF on her way, tomorrow probably. Ovulated on CD12!!! Sighhhh 🤨
