TTC Baby #3 Not our first rodeo 🤠

olivehush · 28/09/2025 15:05

I thought I’d start a thread for those TTC baby number 3 (and beyond, feel free to join!) It would be nice to share experiences. I feel like where I’m from 3 is the new 2 😅 but I’ve always felt like I wanted a bigger family anyway (I am 1 of 4!)

For background, DD1 has just turned 6 and DD2 has just turned 4. I’m on cycle #2, AF due in a couple of days but I’m testing BFN so roll on cycle #3. I was really hoping to catch before November so baby would only be 4 school years behind DD2 🙈 but what will be will be!

DD1 took 15 cycles

DD2 took 1 cycle

Anyone else??? X

Hi!

Also TTC #3 - cycle #2. Will test next week as only 2/3dpo. Will keep fingers crossed for you - still a few days to get your bfp!

I'm also one of 4, as is my husband, so we were always keen on a big family if we could! Xx

olivehush · 28/09/2025 17:20

Ahh let the TWW begin! I know I know you’re not out until AF shows 🤣 my AF is fairly predictable though and I got faint BFPs by 11/12dpo with my first two so just not feeling hopeful but now I’ve accepted it I feel much better about it. I’m a big believer that everything happens for a reason and when the time is right it’ll happen! That being said I could have ovulated like a week late. I did have a 5 week cycle back around April/May time which was unusual! But wasn’t TTC back then so didn’t really look into it. I did feel some ovary pain last weekend when I thought I was 5dpo 🤔 but chalked it up to normal twinges. Ok now I’m reading too much into it…back to being calm!

how old are your 2 DCs? X

Sorry didn’t tag you @MintRobin

MintRobin · 28/09/2025 17:41

@olivehush It's so hard isn't it, trying to keep expectations down and not get too excited! At least its good if your cycle is predictable.

DS1 is 3 and DS2 is 16 months. Would love to add a third to the gang if we're lucky enough; I'm 35 and my husband 37.

Do folk know you'd like a third? I found it funny that after #1, people were quick to ask when we would be having #2. But now having #2, lots of people have assumed we're done! Xx

mummatara · 29/09/2025 18:27

Hey would love you join you im currently cycle 2 TTC #3 about to hit fertile window.

First cycle trying was a chemical but I’m not surprised I have a history of reoccurring MC so I try not to get my hopes up when a BFP comes along.

I have 2 DS 4 and 1. Thought we were done but hubby announced at the end of August he would quite like another 😅 I told him age is not on our side so if we’re gonna do it now is the time 🙈

olivehush · 29/09/2025 20:50

@MintRobin I agree! Absolutely nobody knows we’re even considering a 3rd so it will be quite a surprise if (when 🤞🏼) we do, but we both feel totally ready for it as opposed to a year or so ago when we were more umm-ing and ahh-ing. I don’t think I could have done a 3rd with a smaller age gap though so hats off to you 🤣

welcome @mummatara sorry to hear about your chemical. I’ve had 4 during my whole TTC experience so like you I feel as though I can never really “celebrate” a BFP more like just getting from one day to the next and once I hit about 7 weeks and the nausea comes I relax a bit.

I tested BFN this morning and then got AF 🤦‍♀️ I knew she was coming I don’t even know why I tested. Feeling positive for a new cycle - although I’ve calculated my dates and the last 3 cycles I’ve O’d on CD18 and OH is away with work the week before and literally gets back on that day! So I’m already a bit worried that it won’t be enough, or on the off chance I O a couple of days early (which wouldn’t be unusual) and we completely miss it 😩

Need to stop worrying about what’s out of my control though.

Have ordered CoQ10 and Maca root on Amazon and they come tomorrow. Conceived both of my DDs when I took those exact supplements so hoping they are good luck for me!

MintRobin · 30/09/2025 09:55

Hi @mummatara! So sorry to hear of your chemical last cycle, fingers crossed for you for this month!

@olivehush it's so hard not to test, even when you think it's not going to come to anything! I'm trying really hard to wait and test at the weekend as i know its so unlikely to see anything before then!

I've never taken anything other than Vit D and Folic acid - what does CoQ10 and Maca root help with? I've heard of people taking things to lengthen luteal phase etc but I'm clueless!! Xx

mummatara · 30/09/2025 10:52

I am def a serial tester when we have been TTC I would tell myself to wait until at least 10dpo but alas I can’t help myself and still start at 8 🙈

I think if we ever get a sticky baby everyone will be shocked I told everyone we were done even started giving away all our stuff so we have no newborn things 🤦🏼‍♀️ I agree no one ever expects you to want a third I think 2 is the new normal for people now. I watched something the other day that said middle children were becoming a thing of the past!

@olivehushim sorry for the BFN. hopefully O will behave for you and it can all work out this cycle. I’ve fallen twice when the timing didn’t seem like it would work so got everything 🤞🏼 for you.

@MintRobinmaca root helps with fertility in general I believe like balancing hormones but more so for the man if you can get him to take it it’s v good for sperm quality. Coq10 helps with egg quality. What DPO are you?

I used to take a million vitamins prob should start again but for now just taking a prenatal and folate

MintRobin · 30/09/2025 11:11

@mummatara Ah, fair enough! I'm terrible at remembering to take tablets haha, so I've just been taking one that's got both folic acid and vit D for now. Good to know there are things that can help though!

Think I'm aroundv5/6dpo - i don't chart or anything, just notice signs and dtd regulay. I worry i'd become a bit obsessed if i start charting temp etc! Going to just go with flow for now.

Where are you at in your cycle?

mummatara · 30/09/2025 11:59

@MintRobinahhh almost there then. I love that you go with the flow I told myself I would be chill this time time round and not bother with opks but I bought some the other day 😂 I think I just can’t help myself I do know my cycles pretty well by now though so I don’t really need to do them it’s more to settle my own crazy brain probs make me feel like I’m doing something instead of waiting! tbf the sooner I find out I’m pregnant the sooner I can start taking my meds to hopefully help it become a sticky one so that’s my excuse and I’m sticking to it 😂 I’m about to hit fertile window currently CD12. O will be around 17/18/19 though I have had a few occasions of 20/21 but not for a while.

olivehush · 30/09/2025 21:17

@mummatara ooo we have similar cycles! After I had my two DDs I had a 28 day cycle like clockwork for about 3 years, and only the last year or so it’s gone back to slightly longer, typical!
And ditto with getting rid of all the baby stuff! But actually looking back, I overbought so much stuff that just went unused. This time I’m just getting the bare minimum!

I usually test from 8dpo 🤣never had a BFP earlier than 11dpo though. Hoping I will be able to resist this cycle. I think a BFN definitely makes me feel worse than AF.

@MintRobin yes ditto what @mummatara said…Maca apparently just balances hormones and good for overall fertility, may even increase CM etc and CoQ10 is for egg health. Although I have decided not to take the Maca root this cycle as I was worried it might shorten it and I’d O when hubby was away!

a friend announced she’s pregnant today, I’m so excited for her but back of my mind I was like damn I wish that was me. Haha.

Debating back and forth with DH in whether we want to try for #3. We're 32 and 35 now, DCs are 15 months and 3.5 years.

I'm one of 6, DH us one of 4. We had both desired a biggish family. But now we're here we're struggling to logically justify another.

MintRobin · 03/10/2025 13:17

Hi @Outside9. I think choosing to start ttc (regardless iof number!) can be tricky, good that you and your husband are chatting it through. Do you have specific feelings one way or other?

For us, we'd both love to have another if we can. Just feel like there's a wee space for another; we're lucky to have the means and space, didn't feel 'done' yet. If it doesn't work out though, we love the family we have! Hope you and your husband reach a decision that you're both happy with :)

@olivehush @mummatara , how are you both getting on? AF due on Monday so I'm hoping to wait until Sunday at earliest to test xx

mummatara · 03/10/2025 13:49

@olivehushI remember when I was so jealous of pregnancy announcements always feels a bit gutting 😢 but the time will come for you when it gets to be yours that’s the happy bit 👏🏼

@Outside9ahhhh I think it’s def good to chat about it and if you’re both thinking yes then you should go for it. I think people don’t expect bigger families now a lot of people think two is the norm now but you have to do what feels right for you and your family.
I’m worried about the mayhem and logistics of car holidays etc with three but honestly I just think we will make it work because it’s something we want.

@MintRobin oooh you’re doing so well holding out testing 🙊 I would have def caved by now. How do you feel any symptoms? I’ve just started fertile window think I will O Sunday or Monday so then onto the TWW 🙄 the worst bit IMO!

MintRobin · 03/10/2025 17:12

@mummatara I don't know! Been feeling a bit tired etc, but i know all the symptoms of pregnancy/AF are the same haha!

Previously, I tested late as my periods are always a bit all over the shop and just thought i was having longer cycles. This time, i feel so much more aware of when things 'should' be happening, so bit worried to test i think incase its negative!

Oh fingers crossed for you! Hopefully it's a fruitful TWW xx

Outside9 · 03/10/2025 18:58

@MintRobin thanks for sharing your circumstances. I guess mine are similar to yours. We are planning to expand our space in the next couple years regardless (I.e. larger home, car etc) and fortunately financially secure. I agree it's tricky whatever number. I guess a concern is perceptions given we're in a 'two and through' world in the West, and also how much a third may take away from how much we can invest in our two.

@mummatara I resonate with everything you have mentioned, especially having just come back from our first holiday as a family of 4 a couple days ago! Fun, but very very challenging. I guess the struggle is temporary as challenging as it can be.

mummatara · 04/10/2025 17:34

@MintRobinare you still planning to test tomorrow? Good luck if you are and let us know how you get on We’re rooting for you! My last successful pregnancy I had zero symptoms was so shocked when the test was positive.

my OPK has started to rise pretty sure will peak tomorrow if previous cycles are anything to go by so O maybe tomorrow evening or Monday right on schedule

I can’t decide whether to give hubby a break tonight and dtd tomorrow or dtd tonight and leave tomorrow 🙈

MintRobin · 04/10/2025 19:39

@mummatara i feel like I'm losing my nerve haha! App predicts Af due on Monday (though my cycles can be all over the shop), so i don't know whether to wait and see if it arrives during the week, and if not, test later in the week? Feel like i don't want to test too early and drive myself crazy looking for lines!!

Oh that's great! Good luck to you too 😊 haha i suppose it depends how you're both feeling! Xx

mummatara · 07/10/2025 10:21

@MintRobinhow is it going? I hope AF has been a no show for you 🤞🏼

im 1 or 2 dpo today. BBT would put ovulation at 2 days ago but I had crappy ovulation pain yesterday so I think it was probably yesterday onto the fun TWW though its really never 2 weeks as I only have an 11 day LP

olivehush · 07/10/2025 18:46

Any updates @MintRobin ?
@mummatara hope this TWW goes quick for you!

Just updating as I tend to distract myself up until fertile window (easiest one to not obsess over haha) I actually don’t track O but it’s been around CD18 for about 3 months now and I get EWCM so it’s fairly easy to pin point (she says).

CD9 today so still got a while to go before O 🫩

OP posts:
olivehush · 07/10/2025 18:47

Jealous of people who O on CD14, that used to be me but only whilst I was not TTC…typical!

OP posts:
mummatara · 07/10/2025 19:28

@olivehushim jealous too 😂 sadly ive never been one to O on CD14. It always feels such a long wait doesn’t it 😭 lol distraction is key I’m hoping it goes fairly quick 🤞🏼 I do have plenty to be doing 😂

MintRobin · 08/10/2025 18:09

Hi @olivehush @mummatara- AF arrived today, 3 days late 😥

Disappointed but not surprised tbh. On to cycle #3! Might start testing for ovulation, as I'm afraid I'm missing the peak with my irregular cycles. Any recs of good ovulation tests?

How are you both getting on? In the TWW now? Xx

mummatara · 08/10/2025 22:21

@MintRobinoh no I’m sorry she showed up 😢

I’ve always had success with easy at home tests. Big box is not too expensive from Amazon. I would def recommend checking your CM daily too. my opks don’t really do anything until the day before ovulation sometimes I’ll get a small rise 2 days before ovulation which doesn’t give you much opportunity before you ovulate. I always have fertile mucus at least 4/5 days up to O day.

I am indeed in the TWW. 2/3 dpo today. I’ve been so busy haven’t had much opportunity to worry too much about it. I’m sure by the weekend I’ll be itching to test even though I know it will show nothing 😂

olivehush · 09/10/2025 09:29

ahh sorry @MintRobin why do our bodies mess with us when we’re TTC, it seems so cruel! We’re both on cycle #3 (if that’s any consolation)

just waiting to O…booooring
