By popular request (2 votes actually!) this is a thread for old duffers like me who are over the hill and TTC and for anyone who is old and up the duff ! I didn't suggest these terms so please don't get offended if you don't see yourself as a duffer but would like moral support , chat etc...

Just caught up with the thread - many congrats marinda! . Umm yes, Emma's diary is terrible (they still gave it to me even tho' it's not my first time).

marinda · 29/01/2005 11:56

Hi Bonyn - gosh hope I don't get that diary AGAIN
Please help - anyone who is up the duffer ! feel soooooo nervous about being pg- cancelled this electronic facial i have twice a month as worries abut effects of it on the unborn. Also don't seem to have much nausea only itchy enlarged boobs. Think I am only 5 weeks but am terrirfies with worry already. Did anyone else who has posted here have few symptoms in the early weeks ? Thanks for you help.

OP posts:
Michaelangelo · 29/01/2005 13:27

Marinda - with my DS I had hardly any symptoms in first few weeks, then got sore boobs and weeing a lot but never had nausea (v lucky I know).

AF due for me on Weds next week so hoping some of your baby dust is working its way to me!!

aloha · 29/01/2005 13:29

I never had sickness or nausea with either pregnancy. It's not compulsory you know

marinda · 29/01/2005 22:26

Thanks michaelangel- hope you will be joining me on a "due in....." thread soon. Aloha - glad to know not the only one without nausea ! I did have a lot of it with my first one though!

I have a friend who had NO symptoms whatsoever and bleeding every month so she didn't discover she was pg until she was 20 wks pregnantand she'd been drinking nearly every night and smoking up to 10 fags a day! She was mortifiedbut had perfectly healthy baby. The only reason she suspected she was pregnant was that she noticed her jeans were getting loose around the back but tighter at the front, and she had mysteriously lost her thirst for lager (not for wine though).

Sliminside · 30/01/2005 22:28

This sounds bad but my husbands neices are having babies while im trying to conceive my second one and i am so depressed about it all oh how i wish it was me, one had a boy 2 weeks ago and i cant even go and visit it would be so hard luckely my hubby works alot of overtime and thats my excuse as she lives really far from us another is expecting in august and oh how i wish it was me

TeaTime · 31/01/2005 02:26

Lovely news Marinda and just the tonic I needed after reading the Missed Miscarriage thread and finding out that a few more that were due on August have had to join it. Nothing beats the pure joy of finding out you're pg - esp when you're older! for me, even though it didn't work out this time I feel happy that something got started - proving we're not QUITE past it! How did you do that Babydust thing? Must have taken you ages!!!

romilly · 31/01/2005 13:33

hi old duffers - i'm so excited for you marinda! have you got your latest edition of emma and her pregnant friends yet? - btw, you were not being thick asking what an erpc is (i'm so used to acronyms flying around on MN that i used it) but basically it is similar surgery to a d&c except they call it an evacuation of retained products of conception. yes, horrible, grim and disgusting name and i'm sorry i even mentioned it now and had to enlighten you. i had an m/c at 10 weeks a month ago so that is why i am probably the only person on this thread totally delighted to get AF this month. it means i can properly start ttc'ing again.

marinda · 31/01/2005 18:02

Romilly I cheated with the babydust - I knicked it from another thread - but YES it does take a while to make. Good luck TTC this month. So sorry about the MC - seems to be so much of this. Teatime do you have any plans now ? So shocked how many people have had to leave August thread - surely above "average".
Slininside cheer up - it WILL happen for you - id did for me and I never thought it would. How long have you been TTC ?

OP posts:
romilly · 01/02/2005 14:29

Thanks so much marinda. yes the august thread did seem to have more than its fair share of sadnesses. my due date was beginning of august . enough of that though - i am spurred on by seeing all these old duffers successfully getting on with it. how are you feeling? have you been to your gp yet?

pacinofan · 01/02/2005 18:12

Well, here I am on day 28. No sign of af, and a negative pregnancy test this morning(yes, I know I'm impatient, couldn't help it)!! I hate this not knowing either way stage, drives me nuts!! Thing is, have only had one cycle since miscarriage so not really sure what my normal cyle length is now. Anyway, have successfully managed to walk past the preg. test shelf at Boots this afternoon without buying one - DH has persuaded me to wait a few days. Anyone else due to test?

kelly0612 · 01/02/2005 19:52

Hi there i hope you can help me my fiance and i had unprotected sex 15 days ago then on sunday i went to the toilet and there was a streak of blood on the paper and nothing else. Then again on monday i had some more blood but it was very light and then again nothing else i have had no more blood today im quite dizzy and yesterday i cried for no reason, i have period like pains my period is due on 7th feb i was wondering could i be pregnant id really like to be as we have been trying since last year

Michaelangelo · 01/02/2005 20:14

CD 30 for me Af due any time, so hoping it doesn't and I'll be joining in the testing!

marinda · 01/02/2005 22:24

Kelly wait till 7th and then test as a normal AF can have spotting which is what you may have. Tearfulness may be due to AF - but my advice is to wait. Take care
Romillt been to DR's but with DS whos had virus - told DR I was pg and she just told me to come back another time - bloody cheek- shall see another DR in about a week or so !!!

OP posts:
DecafArabica · 02/02/2005 00:22

Yes, try and wait, Kelly, then you'll get a more reliable result. Good luck!

TeaTime · 02/02/2005 01:51

Hi Marinda - about plans w.e.l.l.of course I'd like to get pregnant and everything go smoothly as if I were 10 years younger but it's getting pretty late (I'm 45) so I think I'll just keep ttc for this year or so and see what happens. If I don't even get pregnant I wouldn't be surprised so I'm trying to reconcile myself to having just the one very ds. It would have to be the natural route for dh and me so we'll go along with whatever that brings.
