marinda · 26/01/2005 17:40

Can't believe it !!!! Had a gnae appointment booked on 24th feb as well. Feel so nervous may have to go and buy another test just in case first one is incorrect. My sickness is just about easing off. Decided not to bother with DR for a month or so. What did you other do ?? Did you go to DR straight away or wait a while ??? The wierdest rhing about me being pg is that I did not get the two lines on the OPK - just a very faint one so assumed I has not ovulated. BUT idid BD alot more this month about a week before, during and a week after my fertile period. To anyone TTC I hope this helps. Before I waited till 2 lines on OPK then BD several times, at least onve every other day but nowhere near as much as I did last month. Anyway enough of that - must go and get myself fed !!!

Congratulations Marinda to you and DH! Fab news, well done you clever thing!!!

I went to the doc's bang on day af was due last time, was just so excited I had to go and tell someone! However, this time, if we are lucky again, I plan to wait until about 7-8 weeks.

Well done again, great news!!!

munnzieb · 26/01/2005 19:16

Hi guys, this is a message from Hester..

hi guys i've jsut had this email from hester and she's asked I cut and paste it (honest it's not me pretending to be her!)

Munnzie, this is so kind of you! I loved reading and catching up - brilliant.
When you have time, could you bear to cut and paste this message from me?

"Hi everyone, hester here. My MN addiction has been curbed by home PC dying
(trying and trying to fix it, but nothing has worked yet) and work barring
access to the site (could it be just me, or am I surrounded by secret MNetters?
I guess I'll find out!). I miss you all and do hope to be back on-line very
soon. In the meantime, can I just say:

  • CONGRATULATIONS to morningpaper and cori
  • BIG HUGS AND COMMISERATIONS to yingers - I'm so very sorry this has happened to you, yings
  • BIG HUGS also to jedds; I'm really upset by this, Jedds, will email you
  • WAVE to marinda - I miss you and your duffers thread!
  • CONGRATULATIONS to Tania for getting started on this IVF project

I am STILL off chocolate - is making me feel better physically but doing no good
to my mental health. I've still got this nausea bug that I've had on and off
since December - like having morning sickness all the time, as it's much worse
first thing and when tired - be warned, those of you who may be interpreting
nausea as a symptom!

Missing you all. Anyone who wants to CAT me to stop me getting too lonely, feel
free!"

I know you're busy, munns, so don't worry if you don't have time for this.

Am off to email jedds. Poor, poor thing.

aloha · 26/01/2005 19:21

Oh hooray! Lovely, happy news .
See....I told you that you weren't too old!

romilly · 26/01/2005 20:22

marinda - i went to the doc. at 4.5 weeks - cause i wanted to make sure i got the earliest possible first scan with hospital i wanted. frankly not sure if it makes any difference cause they do it on your dates anyway, but living in London i thought there could be a waiting list.

marinda · 26/01/2005 22:08

Correct me if I am wrong but is the first scan at 12 weeks ? An't remember 3.8 years ago (blo""" hell thenks makes me seem old !!!). Just can't face going to docs yet. Last time when pg for first time, I went in, confessed and got given "Emma's Diary" to read. Anyone else had this !!!!!!!!!!!!

OP posts:
romilly · 26/01/2005 22:15

yup - do you think it was written in the seventies? Was rapidly replaced with "What to expect when expecting"

yes it it 12 weeks for first scan - but my gp said some hospitals have a bit of competition to get into so to avoid disappointment book yourself in early.

marinda · 26/01/2005 22:25

Is "What to expect when expecting" better than Emma's Diary ? Yes I think it WAS written in the 1970's- the woman in it was not very modern. I remember it started with "I must be pg I'm 2 week late ...... Going to DR Green such a nice Doctor!

OP posts:
marinda · 26/01/2005 22:28

PS; Still have Emma's Diary. Any other duffers who STILL have this or remember it ?

OP posts:
Mumfun · 26/01/2005 22:34

Hi

COngrats Marinda - wonderful news - really happy for you.

My DS born late 2003 and I was given Emmas Diary -not the Expecting book so was obviously behind the times!

Keep us up to date witb the news Marinda!

Michaelangelo · 26/01/2005 22:44

Congratulations Marinda, hope for all us old duffers

marinda · 26/01/2005 23:03

Thanks munfun and michaelangelo Gosh all excited about the expecting book- may have to go to DR's just to confess and get THAT book. It must be 2004 onwards - I had the Emma's one in 2001. So out of date. Anyone else had experience of any of these books ?

OP posts:
marinda · 26/01/2005 23:05

Mind you I bet you don't get a book 2nd time around as it is assumed you know what to expect - debateable. Sorry girls, it's late - I know my conversation is a bit crappy.

Many, many congrats Marinda, I'm soooo pleased for you

Do please keep us posted and send us some of your babydust!

BL xx

romilly · 27/01/2005 10:37

hey marinda and fellow duffers - i am sorry i have got you all excited for no reason here! i tend to bang out my replies in a bit too much haste - WHAT I MEANT was that yes i got given the crappy little "Emma's diary" thing and was so monumentally unimpressed that i binned it and went out and got the newly up-the-duff women's bible - "What to expect when expecting" cause frankly i didnt have the foggiest! I bought that book and the Mumsnet pink book on pregnancy (plse. note the plug MN) which were both brilliant.

I can see all these confused gp's faces as a horde of you guys all go "No! i want the book!!"

DecafArabica · 27/01/2005 10:59

Marinda, I'm so pleased for you and look forward to chatting with you on our September thread. At my first visit to Dr's (4 weeks pg) the test was negative even though had tested BFP at home. Next visit, BFP. Saw GP last week and I got the dreaded Emma's diary this time around and inside was a handy feedback form, so I whiled away a happy half an hour criticising it. Also got given the NHS pregnancy handbook which is pretty good. Then went to the library for 'Your pregnancy month by month' as I'd lent out all my previous pregnancy books to pg friends.

Joolstoo · 27/01/2005 11:09

marinder - 38 is an old duffer?

romilly · 27/01/2005 15:04

marinda and decaf - i am seriously wondering whether there is something about starting up ttc threads that makes you conceive?! didn't you both get up-the-duff soon after introducing your threads? Weird.

DecafArabica · 27/01/2005 16:02

Yes, I started one called 'broody at 43: am I bonkers?' and as it turned out, I was probably about 18 hours pregnant when I posted it!

romilly · 27/01/2005 16:15

right that's it!- i'm gonna start one - and probably look like norma no-mates cause everyone ttc'ing is already on threads

marinda · 27/01/2005 17:32

Yes I think I must have been 4 day pg when I posted this thread - how wierd is that !!!! Honestly HOW I managed it this month as opposed to the last 6 is really a mystery other than I BD alot MORE to the extent I was chasing DH aroung the house ! I had it in my crawl to BD at least 20 times in the month, only managed about 12 - but this was ALOT MORE than "normal". It's probably worth trying this if you feel you can - it worked for me- BUT I did cover fertil period as well - before I could have missed it !!!!!

Mumfun · 27/01/2005 20:53

Hi

Good advice Marinda. Unfortunately AF today - not a surprise due to illness over fertile time plus being up most nights it seems this month with sick DS or sick DH disturbing me - not much chance.

But will try again early Feb and hope better rested and health by then.

Babydust to all!
