Did you ovulate on 2nd April? Christmas Day due date!

Eeek I've fucked up. Don't usually ovulate until around CD20, so thought I was good to go ahead and TTC this month (yes I realise a potential baby due on 31st Dec or something could come on Christmas Day anyway but it didn't seem as risky).

But I ovulated on CD13, and now if I'm pregnant it'll be due on Christmas Day.
I'm certain that this will be the month, precisely because I really don't want a Christmas Day baby.

Join me for the two week wait if you have screwed up too!

I’d be over joyed at any due date at this stage to be honest! I’ve never had a winter baby before so would be something different

GrizzlyTheBear · 04/04/2025 20:31

Well I would be delighted to be pregnant too, but just would have preferred January!
Have you been TTC this one for a few months then?

If it's any consolation I was due around Christmas but my baby hung on firmly in there until January. Conceiving anytime around March/April runs the risk of a Christmas baby so I wouldn't worry too much about your ovulation day. As someone who was also born in January I wish my birthday was closer to Christmas as everyone is cheerful and in the party spirit! We were quite disappointed our baby arrived late as he now also has a bit of a damp squid of a birthday 😂

GrizzlyTheBear · 04/04/2025 20:52

Well that's helpful, thank you! I'm just worried nobody would ever be able to go to their birthday parties. Plus the stress of two big events in one week 😬

My previous babies were bang on due date and a bit early, so I don't think it's likely I'd go over. But you are right, anything is possible, and I wouldn't have stopped TTC in April too, so it's just pot luck isn't it.

Yes nearly 2 years now

SureLook · 04/04/2025 23:19

Going by my LMP if I'm successful this cycle my due date will be the 30th of December. I'd much rather a December baby than a January baby, even if it is only a few days. I had an MMC in January so I'll be grateful for anything in the end.

Iris2024 · 05/04/2025 08:25

I had my first positive LH test on 3rd April so Christmas time baby possible here too. First cycle back TTC after a long break

Edited

You can get the party thing at various points of the year, my DD is an end of August baby, 5 days before they go back to school! Tons of people are always away around then, so becomes an issue!

GrizzlyTheBear · 05/04/2025 08:35

@2025babyfever sorry to hear that. That must be very hard. You said you haven't had a winter baby so I'm guessing that means you have other children already? I'm in the same position (though nowhere near so long TTC) and I worry about the age gap getting bigger and bigger.

@SureLook I had an MMC too, just before Christmas. It definitely makes you more aware of how fragile conception and pregnancy is doesn't it 😔

@Iris2024 glad you could join us! Hopefully you'll have a lucky first-try baby.

I was due in January and had to be induced on 28th December. You just don’t know what will happen so I wouldn’t give it a second thought. It is what it is.

podulpopda · 05/04/2025 08:45

I had an unexpected pregnancy due right on Christmas, I was devastated by the due date! We wanted another baby but it just happened a tad sooner than we were ready, it all worked out, he very politely arrived 5 days early which gives enough separation, and we tend to throw parties first weekend of December before everyone gets too busy. Honestly I think January birthdays are probably trickier!

SureLook · 05/04/2025 08:46

@GrizzlyTheBear sorry to hear about your loss too. I know, you think it will be straightforward based on your other pregnancies but that's not always the case!

@Sanch1 I agree!

thismummyslife · 05/04/2025 09:15

You really haven’t messed up at all! My LO was an IVF success and yes she was due at Christmas time and I didn’t even give a thought! She probably won’t be due on her due date anyway. Just be thankful and enjoy the excitement x

Muddysocks1 · 05/04/2025 11:18

I ovulated on the 26th so if by some miracle I am pregnant, due date would be 18th December. Decided I bet they’d come early or be planned c-section and that would be earlier anyway… I would just be overjoyed to be pregnant full stop but it has crossed my mind about Xmas!! It’s meant I’m slightly less stressed about if it doesn’t happen this month though

GrizzlyTheBear · 05/04/2025 13:24

@Muddysocks1 that's exactly how I feel. I will definitely be way more chilled out about it if I'm not pregnant, and happy if I am but also a little bit "oh shit"!
The 18th definitely gives you a bit more leeway though. When is your AF due/when will you test?

Thank you @GrizzlyTheBear we were trying for a few months beginning of last year and then we stopped as we have a holiday in July. First month back to it and hoping we catch. I’m 41 and had my first at 34 so fingers crossed. Be nice to have people to chat to :)

GrizzlyTheBear · 05/04/2025 20:01

Definitely! It's great sharing the highs and lows of the TWW/testing with people in the same boat ❤️

I spent my whole pregnancy loudly declaring I didn’t want a Christmas Day baby.

She was a bit early so got exactly that - made the local paper as the first Xmas day baby born.

Honestly, it was actually really lovely and has made Xmas even more special. And her bday is memorable.

Better than a 1 Jan bday….

Mama09876 · 05/04/2025 22:07

11 DPO today and just got my positive test after saying i might give March a miss so not a Xmas baby but one quicky, 4 days before ovulation later and now due the 16th Dec! 😂

Honestly could not be happier. 6th month of trying and I’m just shocked/ absolutely made up to see positive tests!

Good luck with your TWW and hope you get you’re positive 🤍

SureLook · 05/04/2025 23:28

@Mushroo that's so lovely!

@Mama09876 amazing, congratulations!

Onwardsandupwards2025 · 06/04/2025 00:00

We’ve just started trying recently, just got my LH surge and it only occurred to me today that it would be a Christmas baby! Panicked a bit 😂 but I’d be thrilled regardless, I know it’s probably unlikely we’ll conceive straight away though.

Clara202 · 06/04/2025 17:26

7th month of trying and would be due 26th if it takes. I would be made up if it does take as I’m beginning to wonder if it ever will. Think of all the positives, off work so you have the time to get into the Christmas spirit a bit earlier and do all the Christmas days out, Christmas seems to start in October these days anyway! Perfect excuse not to attend certain things, no time to go out and buy all those presents. As for the baby, their parties can be the week before or the week after.
Never occurred to me to take this month off.

GrizzlyTheBear · 06/04/2025 19:31

Congratulations @Mama09876 !

@Onwardsandupwards2025 it's just as likely as any other month 😁

@Clara202 regrettably I am always confined to moaning on the sofa in late pregnancy, so no Christmas spirit for me! But I love your positivity.

Looking forward to two-week-waiting with you both.

Would also be a 25th due date here if it all goes to plan! Just wanting a baby at any time though so I’m not that bothered!
Hope the TWW is flying by for you all 🤞

GrizzlyTheBear · 08/04/2025 20:08

Aw hi @Miffy1994 You are right of course. Babies are so precious I'd be delighted to have one any day of the year really but would try everything under the sun to evict it early . Are you TTC your first?
