Hi everyone, I was hoping to start a nice friendly supportive and sensitive thread. Maybe for those ttc for a while or after losses or just finding things difficult with ttc in general. I love to read others have had bfp's as it gives me hope, but have been finding some threads with alot of positive test pictures posted quite difficult.
Hoping to find others looking for the same as it's lovely to have a place to rant, feel sad, feel happy, get advice, or just obsess without judgement 🙂

I am 36, started ttc 2 years ago, had 2 mmc, and have now been ttc for 14 months since the last one without success. Currently on cd14 on a "not tracking"cycle. x

Hi all, first time posting on anything like this and I suppose acknowledging that we're actively trying.

I came off birth control last March and cycles have been 32-34 days pretty consistently. Last month was 37 days had terrible PMS symptoms for longer than usual but then AF arrived. Currently on day 42 of cycle, BFN yesterday so don't really know what's going on.

I'm a bit worried I'm perimenopausal as approaching 34 but not sure if it's just anxiety.

Did your mum have an early menopause? 34 would be unusual. Much more likely to be something else.

CabbageFan · 03/03/2025 17:09

Without knowing more, that sounds a bit like my situation.
My cycles were 30 days nearly exactly after I got my birth control implant removed. We weren't trying, but we had a malfunction and I got pregnant in july 😬 It ended in a very early loss, and my cycles were completely wrecked. Much like yours, they were about 34 days on average after that, with the shortest one being 28 days and the longest 48 days. The 48 day cycle was horrible, it was like neverending pms! I had mid-cycle bleeding on every cycle for 3-7 days.
I finally saw a gynecologist after the long cycle, but she found nothing wrong with my baby-making bits or basic bloodwork. She suspected it might be something with my progesterone and/or estrogen levels during ovulation.
I was prescribed dydrogesterone for three cycles. My first cycle with it was only 31 days and I didn't have any mid-cycle bleeding, which felt great. I tracked my basal body temperature and based on it I most likely ovulated cd17. This is the second cycle that I'll be using the medication and tracking bbt. I'm also doing ovulation strips this time.

Oh best of luck with it all! I want to keep telling myself that what will be will be and I'll be happy either way to try and reduce stress 😂 not sure it's working that well currently.

BGxxx · 12/03/2025 15:48

How are you all? I’m just waiting for my period now to start trying again, I think I’m 3dpo atm

Vanilla90 · 12/03/2025 15:54

Fingers crossed for you! How do you feel about TTC again?

I had a phone call from the hospital yesterday to say that my screening results are back and it’s put me in the higher risk category for Down’s syndrome.
Had to have an NIPT test today, so waiting for the results.
They said odds are 1:106, so I'm holding onto the fact it's still just under a 1% chance, but anxiety is through the roof!

JNicko90 · 12/03/2025 17:48

Can I also join?

No living children. 4 consecutive miscarriages. 2 was MMC at 6 and 7 weeks. Other two at 5-6 weeks. All tests Iv had so far have come back normal. Last miscarriage they sent the remains to Leeds for testing and we found out it was a boy and he had trisomy 22.

Had genetic bloods taken last August and got appointment tomorrow for the results.

Still praying and holding out hope for our rainbow 🌈

CabbageFan · 12/03/2025 19:44

@Vanilla90 oh wow, that must feel really scary and stressful! I'm sure whatever the result ends up being, things will be alright. Maybe different than you thought they would be, but still alright 💗

@JNicko90 I'm so sorry for your losses 💔 But I'm glad to hear that you're getting tested and hopefully they'll be able to figure out a way to help you. It would be interesting to hear what they say, if you feel like updating us later.

As for myself... I think I got excited too soon 🙄 Last cycle felt almost too normal to be true. I'm now on cd21, but no bbt spike or positive opk yet. Last cylce I had great skin in the middle of my cycle, but now it's horrible just like before. The only good thing is that I haven't hand any mid-cycle bleeding this time either, so at least the medication is doing that much. Who knows when I'll ovulate, if at all... and how long this cycle will be 😩

Thank you, I will update the thread later today after my appointment. X

JNicko90 · 13/03/2025 14:33

@CabbageFan so had our appointment and genetic testing was all normal for me and DH. So no issues. Basically there's nothing flagging up as a reason for my consecutive miscarriages. Consult said to keep trying and when I get a positive test to contact EPU for progesterone and book in for early scans.

CabbageFan · 13/03/2025 18:49

@JNicko90 how do you feel about the results?
I feel very conflicted about my situation, because I should be happy that the gynecologist found nothing obviously wrong with me. But... how does one begin to fix something that's not technically broken? 🫤 That really lowers my mood.

JNicko90 · 13/03/2025 21:15

@CabbageFan I feel ok to be honest. Could have been worse. Could have said that we are incompatible or something is wrong and we can't have children. So I'm taking at as a positive. But it is frustrating that there is no explanation. Just have to hope that one day I have my little rainbow 🌈

Marvelftw · 14/03/2025 22:31

Hey everyone 👋 So I took a break from being on mumsnet in general as I was finding the whole TTC journey much harder to deal with mentally than I had anticipated. It’s hard not to start spiralling in on yourself every time you get that negative or AF arrives. I had actually planned on taking a break from ttc for the next few months but decided this time would be my last go for a bit. Imagine to my complete surprise when I got my BFP earlier on in the week. Wishing you all lots of baby dust and hoping you don’t have to wait much longer for your own positive news ✨✨

Have you had your results back?

I feel fine about ttc, I just have in my head it will take ages and even when I do get pregnant I’ve had 2/3 pregnancies end in a loss so not great odds🙄 and that’s without counting the chemical I had too

@JNicko90 a friend of mine went through the same, she was told to just keep trying. She did end up having a healthy baby but it seems such horrible advice when you’re expecting to just keep miscarrying until one time it works!

BGxxx · 14/03/2025 23:27

Also @Figtree11 I hope you’re okay!

and @Marvelftw that’s fab news 🥰

Vanilla90 · 15/03/2025 09:26

@Marvelftwcongratulations! Fab news! Hope you have a healthy and happy pregnancy!

@BGxxxno, they said results can take up to 2 weeks, so got the agonising wait now 🙄
to be fair, an ectopic is different to other losses. The baby would have been okay, just growing in the wrong place, so I’m sure you have every chance of having a healthy pregnancy. It’s hard to stay positive though isn’t it. Hopefully it doesn’t take you long, I found after my losses I conceived relatively quickly, usually 3rd cycle, I’m not sure if you’re more fertile or something.

Welcome to the thread @JNicko90sorry to hear about your losses. Good that your results came back normal. Hope you get your rainbow soon 🌈

@Figtree11thinking of you, hope all is well.

@Ladyinpink1💕

Sorry if I missed anybody, I’m not as active on Mumsnet now, but I do keep dipping in and out to see how everyone is getting on. Really rooting for you all and hope you get your BFPs! ✨

Figtree11 · 15/03/2025 10:41

@BGxxx @Vanilla90 thanks for thinking of me, I’ve been quiet on here as I felt bad commenting when I was lucky enough to get pregnant. Had a scan at 7 weeks after the spotting & showed all was well. But I’m at the point now where the baby stopped growing the last 2 times so I’m feeling anxious & over analysing every symptom

@BGxxx hope you are doing ok & you’ll be back here telling us good news before you know it

@Vanilla90 that must be a very anxious wait, I know that I would feel the same. But I’ve read about odds much less than yours so hopefully you’ll hear back that everything is fine

@Marvelftw lovely news, congratulations!

@CabbageFan @JNicko90 @Ladyinpink1 hope you’re doing ok

I know what you mean, that’s why I don’t comment as much, but some of us have been on this thread for a while, so I like to check in.
When is your next scan scheduled for?
Have you thought about joining a WhatsApp group? I joined one for September due dates and it’s nice having other women to talk to. Quite a few of them have suffered loss in the past and share the some anxiety.

BGxxx · 15/03/2025 15:42

@Figtree11 ah great news that all was okay! Are the epu the ones scanning you?

I don’t think either of you @Vanilla90 & @Figtree11 should feel bad, that’s not the point of the thread at all! It would be really miserable if no one got pregnant so I think it’s really positive that you’re both getting on okay!

I can’t remember if I said on here but I’ve stopped breastfeeding now! So I’m hoping my cycle will not longer have a luteal phase of 5 days 🤣🤣

erihskreb · 15/03/2025 15:55

Fantastic news @Marvelftw ! I hope all goes well with your pregnancy.

I haven’t been posting much as not much to update on. My fertility appointment is in April so getting bloods done next week and DP’s semen analysis. Fingers crossed the semen is ok because otherwise I guess the only option is IVF.

CabbageFan · 15/03/2025 19:31

I really like it when people who got pregnant keep updating and taking part in the conversation! And not to be all parasocial and weird, but given the history of people on this thread I get kind of worried every time somebody announces pregnancy, but stops posting a few weeks later 😆 It makes me fear something has happened ☹️

I got a proper temp rise on cd 22. Maybe ovulated on cd20 or 21. Probably doesn't even matter, because we missed sexy time on the days just before 😕 And without ewcm I don't think much of the sperm was making it through there to be able to wait for ovulation. So I've given up hope this cycle! Sort of. I'm secretly hoping this is going to be one of those "just stop trying and it will happen!" magic cycles that everybody and their mother always talks about 🤣

Figtree11 · 15/03/2025 20:33

Thank you @BGxxx @CabbageFan that’s really kind of you. I know it can be difficult sometimes when you’re in the thick of trying to conceive. But I’ll stick around ☺️ I’ve missed having people to talk to and I’m rooting for you both

@BGxxx now that you’ve stopped breastfeeding hopefully you’ll be able to pin point your cycle & try again soon ☺️ how are you doing physically?

@CabbageFan I’ve my fingers crossed for you that you caught the egg just in time! I’ve seen lots of threads about women worried about ewcm but it not being an issue

@Vanilla90 my next scan is on the 27th when I’ll be 10 weeks. I’ve never had a baby grow to 10 weeks so I’m going to be so apprehensive about that one. I’m on an October due date thread but it’s not that active, and I guess I don’t want to get in too deep with some of those chats in case it doesn’t work out for me. I hope you are doing as well as can be during your wait for results

Ladyinpink1 · 15/03/2025 22:53

Thank you for the tags 💕 and I'm glad to hear you are doing well @vanilla and @figtree I do miss all of our chats, I am not on the normal ttc boards anymore ... I have been on the infertility threads a little and they are a bit easier but honestly it's just all so hard lately, in real life also so i am just trying to protect my mental health. (sorry i sound like a Debbie Downer lol I know you understand what I mean ) xx

Wishing everyone on the thread all the very best, and @BGxxx I hope you are doing as ok as you can be, i'm hoping for good news for you soon too. xx

Thank you for the well wishes everyone! It still doesn’t feel 100% real and I’m taking everything one day at a time. Filled out an antenatal self referral form yesterday so am hoping to have my first scan in about 3 weeks time.

@CabbageFan if it’s any consolation about the ewcm, I never ever did get that plentiful, stretchy clear mucus that other people seemed to have. So much so that I even booked an appointment with my GP about it but I still got pregnant. Hopefully that gives you some reassurance because I was really worried about it too. I did use conception lube though since I first started TTC and last cycle I began taking evening primrose oil tablets although I still personally didn’t notice any changes from it this cycle.

CabbageFan · 16/03/2025 05:49

@Marvelftw that's really good to hear! I'm worried, because this is a relatively new change for me. I used to have lots of ewcm and other very clear fertile window signs. Even though my cycles became irregular, I still could notice the changes. Last time I had them was in november. Between then and now I had the 48 day cycle that was all over the place, and immediately after I began the progesterone medication. I kind of wonder if thr medication could be causing this 🤔 Though it seems kind of counterproductive to put me on a medication that's supposed to stabilize my cycle and make it easier to conceive, if it's simultaneously, potentially making it more difficult? But the gynecologist told me to call again if I'm not pregnant by summer, so I guess I'll just have to wait this out.
TTC is so weird, because not only am I regularly digging around in my vagina, I'm closely inspecting my findings AND discussing it with strangers online 🤣🤣

Vanilla90 · 16/03/2025 08:53

@CabbageFanthats really kind of you to say!
When I conceived in December I was convinced I was out that month. I was venting on here, complaining that I hadn’t had ewcm (usually I’d get loads for a day) and because I didn’t see the ewcm, we didn’t DTD at prime time. I gave up and decided to just enjoy a boozy Christmas… then a few days later I had a positive. It’s weird how our bodies play tricks on us. I don’t think it means something is necessarily wrong. I remember reading how much you drink can influence your ewcm too.

@Figtree11Hope all goes well for your scan on 27th. I find them so stressful. Have you had a midwife appointment yet? If so, you could let her know you’re feeling anxious and they might arrange a scan before then?

@BGxxxah you finally took the plunge and gave up the boob! Congratulations on having your own body back 🤣 even if it is a brief while until you fall pregnant again.
