Maybe a nice shiny new thread will get us all enthusiastic again. I am on my rubbish diet so I only have nuts and beans to put out on the table. Oh and gin of course ;o) Anyone got any cakes to tempt me with?

Ding ding....let's...go

Do you think I have gone a bit mad

Morning, just a quick post before we leave to say congrats (not so tentatively!!!) to Emma! glad your stay here was so quick!!

Good grief GG - there'll be no bivouacking or lav digging for me . My camping tendancies are far more verging on the luxurious nowadays (been there done that with DofE as well, have no wish to do it again, clinging onto the side of Snowdon in the worst storm imaginable - deffo put me off for a little while !). First thing packed this morning - bottle[s!] of wine and glasses, second - duvet. Oh yes, home from home!!

See you all soon xx

GorgonsGin · 01/07/2008 11:42

emma - fantastic news about the BFP!!! . Massive congratulations to you!!!

PnM - ha ha, Iglad you are going luxury camping, sounds much nicer! Clinging to a scree slide in Glen Coe by a tent peg in -5C with the wind and snow battering me ended my (brief) love affair with camping . Never again! The upside was lots of snogging in tents on my DoE Expeditions. More boys than girls went on the trips. Hell, it kept you warm!

JollyBear · 01/07/2008 14:32

Hello all,

emma I'll throw in a tentative congrats too! Sounds like ei had a similar experience with her DD so fingers crossed.

ei Well done on your race for life. I can't believe you are not all stiff and achey. Very well done

dinky As the others have said I don't think you are meant to take them apart. Do another one when you get home.

SH Hope that egg gets a move on for you and that your DD feels better today. I have much sympathy for all who feel/are being sick these days!

P&M I'm jealous of your camping trip. My DH hates camping and I love it! Sounds like it is going to be a home from home with wine, a duvet and music. Have a great time.

GG Oh you are sweet! Glad to hear you are talking to people also looking at IVF. It sounds like a manual should be supplied to understand the jargon. LOL at the snogging in tents, I wish I'd done DofE now!!

Caitni The wedding sounded lovely. Glad you enjoyed it. Hope that AF isn't on her way.

Hello to everyone else!!

QueenyEisGotTheBall · 01/07/2008 14:49

hi ladies
just a quick one to say CONGRATULATIONS to EMMA excellent news
hi to everyone else il pop back later after my docs appointment and let you all know how i got on
xx ei xx

ScaryHairy · 01/07/2008 20:04

Helloooooo my darlings

Less tentative congratulations to Emma. That is good news

How was the doctor Ei? GG oh no, I promise I am not some sort of conception board stalker! I just happened to be looking, honest. Also, what on earth kind of Duke of Edinburgh did you do? Mine was far more boring (although I went to a single-sex school, so any snoging would be somewhat less thrilling...)

The camping sounds great picknmix and I can't believe what a 5* version you do. Perhaps even my high maintenance DH might go for that sort of "roughing" it.

PMSL at your mother's advice Caitni

News from here... I think my egg showed up yesterday, so I just hope that nookie on Sat and yesterday is suffient. We shall just have to see. My little girl is better now, but after 2 nights sitting up with a wailing child I am starting to lose the plot. Early night for me, I think.

QueenyEisGotTheBall · 01/07/2008 20:45

hi ladies
well the docs went badly my urine test results were negative (as i expected they would be) and the doc said due to theresult being negative there was no chance that i was ever preg as the result would still be positive after this length of time evwen though it was a week between starting to bleed and the doca appointment and 2 weeks between the bfp and the docs appointment!! she refused to refer me and said i should stop trying for a baby altogether!! she then said as they had lost my results from the first CP that she didnt believe that i had had one then either as i cant prove it!! my GP is a stupid arsehole!!!! funny thing is i knew she was and gave her a chance as she was nice to me wen i went in the first time about it teach me to trust a GP i have never had a good one who has stuck around long enough to see the treatment through!!
xx ei xx

ScaryHairy · 01/07/2008 21:10

Oh God ei, what an absolute bitch.

Of course the hcg could have been out of your system within a couple of weeks, especially if the levels had been very low to start with (as they would be with a cp since it does not progress for long).

It's another case for changing GP frankly. Can you ring the PCT and ask them for the name of a local GP with a particular interest in fertility? Some GPs do extra qualifications in things they are interested in, so that might be a way of getting to somone more decent.

Am fuming for you.

ScaryHairy · 01/07/2008 21:12

Can you also put in a complaint under the practice complaints procedure? It sounds to me like that particular GP (with her marvellous interpersonal skills) would be more suited to working in a lab.

Caitni · 01/07/2008 21:12

Ei you poor thing - am utterly shocked at your doctor's attitude. I think you should try to see someone else, as this doctor is being obstructive and unhelpful.

Caitni · 01/07/2008 21:14

X posted with ScaryHairy (hello!) and totally agree with her re complaining. It's the best way to stop this happening to someone else. Still so shocked at her behaviour...

loustillwantsaBFPtoo · 01/07/2008 21:36

Oh Ei I know I'm having a crap day, but feeling for you too! What a nightmare GP! How dare she! dont get why some people want to be docs. it's certainly not to help others!

As far as my day goes, TEW got me, and it's a year tomorrow since my MC so I am pretty devastated this evening.
seeing Gynae tomorrow, so will really be pushing for help, help, help!

ScaryHairy · 01/07/2008 21:38

Sorry you're feeling Lou, I guess you are bound to with the anniversary coming up. Be gentle with yourself and lots of luck at the gynae.

Caitni · 01/07/2008 21:39

Oh Lou so sorry that AF arrived and that it's a year since your MC - hope you feel better soon.

Bucky2008 · 01/07/2008 21:59

Congratulations Emma

I was just getting ready for a Bucky-Rant about Ei's frankly offensive GP,when I read Scarys response and pmsling...

Nothing I could say would EVER be as eloquent as 'It sounds to me like that particular GP (with her marvellous interpersonal skills) would be more suited to working in a lab. ' Classic . Ei she totally is an evil GP who should make sure she washes her whites this week as I agree with Scary she will be needing that lab coat soon. You know you got a BFP and nothing she can say can take that away. She is completely unprofessional and needs a refresher course in the basics of humanity if she thinks for one second that somebody would pretend TWICE to get a BFP. And even if you did pretend (which I am not suggesting you did for a second) that in itself would suggest that she should help you. . Um, guess I did rant afterall. . Call the GP police Ei and get another opinion.

No comment on camping here, Pencelli (sp?) in Wales at school scarred me. Kayaking through inch think ice, hiking through waist high snow, potholing in -10degrees and stripping off in front of all the boys to change out of the resultant wet clothes before you hyperthermia, oh the joys of outside pursuits. Give me spas and goosedown pillows, unless you give me Bombay Sapphire and one of those blow up matresses with a quilt in the tent and then I maybe persuaded.

I go on hols on Friday, woo hoo, Lake Geneva here I come and then off to Annecy for a few days. The only downside, well there are two really, the first is that my pups have to go to kennels . DP said he would take them so I didn't get all pathetic and cry. The second is that I actually have to practice safe sex on holidays because I have to have a general anaesthetic for my Lap and Dye on the 17th . I actually feel like I am missing out on a chance , what is that about . Hopefully something will come of the op...

GG I'm up for a meet up. I thought you were away again at the end of July? I lost count about who was up for the Brighton meet up but I think that would still be a good idea. I was conscious last time that PicknMix travelled quite far and we just kind of all disappeared off quite quickly.... Let me know when you are back and we can change the date I am sure.

emma2617 · 01/07/2008 22:23

Ei I can't believe you have such a cow for a GP, what gives her the right to tell you what to do? I have recently complained about my dental treatment to my local PCT. You have to first complain the the practice though, but I would definately write a strongly worded letter to the practice manager. Hope you get a good nights sleep xx

QueenyEisGotTheBall · 01/07/2008 23:42

thanks girls
bucky the funny thing is i showed her the BFP test when i went in about the CP and she was really sympathetic and this time it was like she had a hormonal break or something!! she basically said i was silly for wanting to get preg as in her exact words
"a large number of pregnancies end in miscarriage and there is nothing anyone can do to stop that so i would advise you to stop trying"!!!!!!!!!!!

Madoldbird · 02/07/2008 09:29

Morning ladies

Emma congratulations that's lovely news, and with a digital BFP i think you can definitely begin to celebrate!

EI i can't believe your GP yesterday. Crazy behaviour. I would echo what the others have said, and suggest you make a complaint. Yes, you need to write to the practice manager, stating that it is a formal complaint, and that you would like a response in accordance with the nhs complaints procedure. Outline everything that has happened, why you are unhappy, and what you would like as a result of your complaint. Copy in the PCT (complaints dept) as well. The practice will then have 10 working days in which to respond. Telling someone that they were never pregnant, even with a +ve test is incorrect, and also telling someone to stop trying is insensitive, callous, and unprofessional. Another suggestion is that if you get another BFP in the near future (sorry, can't remember where you are in your cycle) ask to see her and take it in, and ask her to note it in your records. (just incase it happens again - obviously i hope and pray it doesn't happen again) Maybe also take someone with you to witness it. Clearly, you can only have a +ve test if you have hCG in your system, which is only there if you are pg. To not monitor you and investigate why these little beans are not sticking properly is appalling. Sorry to go on - i feel so worked up on your behalf!

lou no wonder you were feeling awful yesterday. Do look after yourself. I know there is nothing i can say to make things suddenly better - but we are here for you, and will listen to you. I hope the appt today goes well, and you get the help you want.

hatty great to see you, and 15 weeks already - wow! You must have a bit of a bump now.

caitni any news? You said you had some spotting - hope it is not AF on her way.

dinky hello and welcome. Have you got a yet? When you take the sticks out of a digital opk, yes, there are always two lines there, but i have found when i use them in the past that when i get the the second line is really strong - as strong as the other one. So although you had an error reading it doesn't sound like you were ov'ing. I found that i would sometimes get error readings when i held the sticks in the urine stream, and found it didn't happen at all when i collected the urine, then dipped the sticks in. HTH

PnM Hope you have a lovely time on your (very sophisticated sounding) camping trip. Here's hoping for some lovely weather for you.

SH Glad your DD is better - hope you and DH didn't get it and that you have all had a more peaceful nights sleep.

Bucky are you packed yet?! I always leave it till the last minute. Guess it will be a bit strange having to practice safe sex. It must feel a bit wierd "wasting an opportunity", but i'm sure it will be worth it in the end to get this procedure done. Hope you have a really lovely time. I can understand how you feel about going away and leaving the dogs - i always hate leaving all my animals.

GG Am i too old to do DofE? Sounds brilliant - lots of boys, snogging in tents

JB Hope the sickness has ended now, and you are feeling more "normal"

DH may get his results tomorrow evening - he has a GP appt to get back blood tests results for something completely different, and he is going to ask if the semen analysis results are back yet. The sample was done last Friday, and they said "about a week" for results, but who knows what that means in the NHS! AF due today i think. Even though i know this month that i cannot be pg, the thought of it starting is still depressing, another reminder i suppose.

JollyBear · 02/07/2008 11:00

OMG ei what a cow! Really most GPs have got hardly any idea about fertility and early pregnancy . I can't believe how rude, judgemental and plain stupid so many of them are. I can't believe she said to stop trying! Change your GP ASAP.

MOB Good luck with the results. It must be nerve racking for both of you. I'm feeling much better thanks. I'm still sick without the tablets but am geeling much brighter 'in myself' as my mum would say!

lou What horrible timing, take care of yourself

bucky It is sweet of your DP to take the dogs in so you don't have a tearful goodbye. Have a great holiday!

SH Hurray for the egg at last

Hello to everyone else!

Caitni · 02/07/2008 16:24

So AF just arrived grrr...I'm so disappointed again, despite doing my best to prepare for it. I've got a hen weekend this weekend, so at least I can have a guilt free tipple or two (trying to be positive emoticon)

Hope all you other ladies on TWW have better luck than me!

ScaryHairy · 02/07/2008 20:49

Hello everyone

Sorry that your period arrived Caitni. I imagine a few consolatory vodkas might just help... I hope you still hang around here even though you are not on your wait anymore.

Hi there Jollybear! I'm glad you have got the sickness under control and that you're feeling ok. How's the bump coming?

I'm sorry to hear you think your period is coming MOB, and have my fingers crossed for your DH's results turning up on time and being excellent.

Bucky your dogs will be fine in kennels. It's a little holiday for them too! And just think, while you are on holiday you can swan about in sandals of all sorts with impunity. Have you found any new ones yet? I was working today and saw these which are pretty nice...

Big waves to the rest of you, Mibbes, DG (if you're ever checking in on us), Hatty, GG, Ei,Lou and not forgetting picknmix.

I am 2 dpo today and very pleased with my chart, which is the least rocky ever from before ov and shows a pretty dramatic rise. In fact have a look, because it is soooo very lovely.
But I am not being very good and even though I promised I would relax this cycle I am still already starting to obsess. Somebody give me a good slapping, please, before I set off down the route to disappointment. I know the only reason I am so fixated is because I feel it is only fair that I get a new bean to replace the one I lost, but I know it does not work that way. Which is obviously a big fat shame... Anyway I shall be 10 DPO on my birthday so will do a test for my birthday maybe.

Anyway, to take my mind off it I was thinking that with so many of us around Exmouth Market-ish we should have an Exmouth Market meet up (maybe after work one night?) - in addition to the trip to the seaside of course. I was walking from there to Clerkenwell Road last week and saw a few nice looking bars. A nice apple martini might just help me forget my fixation. What do you all reckon?

GorgonsGin · 02/07/2008 21:05

hello everyone smile]

very quick post from me tonight, got loads to do and am still in work

Ei - i am with everyone else. I can't believe your GP . Do what scary suggests and speak to the local PCT. Unacceptable. My sis is a GP and I told her anfd she was really at the way she spoke to you.

scary - I'm def up for a Exmouth Market meet up one night, esp if there are apple martinis on the menu . I am about generally over the next few weeks 'cept 15th and 22nd July I am around generally until the big hols at the end of August. EM quite handy for me after work and we can plot the 2WW Summer Expedition To The Seaside while we are there to see everyone else. We will be like the Blue Peter presenters on tour

Jolly glad you are well again

see you at the meet up Bucky
hello to everyone else

QueenyEisGotTheBall · 02/07/2008 21:53

hi ladies
an update from me about my shite GP saga!! i called PALs who are sending me a list of GPs in our local area who are accepting new patients. the lady was lovely and has said she would support me if i wanted to make a formal complaint. she offered to speak to the practice first before going down that road and is goin to update me if there are any developments. hopefully the next GP i have will be a good one
caitni so sorry AF got you hun xx take it easy and have a nice dring at the hen party
i am rather of the EM meetup seeing as how its totally miles away from me ah well all us northern ladies will have to meet up lol
xx ei xx

Caitni · 02/07/2008 22:54

Evening everybody,

Ei v v glad to hear of plans to change GP. Hope you get a much better one that helps you get to the bottom of this.

ScaryHairy gorgeous chart!! That's a very satisfying temp rise. I've made an app with that acupuncture clinic for next Tues and quite excited about it...and you will get a sticky bean that grows into a lovely baby [fingers crossed for a BFP for you emoticon]

Bucky only one full day left before you go on hols - woo hoo! Am jealous! Hope you have a marvellous time - even with all that safe sex! The main thing is to be lovely and relaxed in time for your op.

MOB fingers crossed for DH's results. And know what you mean about conflicted feelings about AF - it's like a taunt sometimes (ha ha not pregnant yet).

GG Blue Peter presenters on tour - can I bring my pipe cleaners and sticky backed plastic??

Would love to meet up at EM - so handy for post work. Also around generally until big hols at end of Aug.

to all the ladies and Mibbes Jolly Hatty Lou Dinky and PicknMix (in her posh tent, under her duvet, listening to her ipod...glamourous camper!) and everyone else.

PS v funny reading everyone's trauma at DofE stuff. I did some crazy wilderness-y stuff myself as a teen but, rather nerdily, I loved it all (bring on the knots and compass and, er, digging toilets and all that!!).

beaniesteve · 03/07/2008 14:47

Right - I am posting in here as usually when I do it makes my period come and I am fed up with waiting. Around 2 days late, 3 negative tests, 11 DPO.

No symptoms apart from what may have been an imagined pain under my armpits last night, particularly my left one.

Apart from that - nothing, nadda, zilch... so come on Period get a F***g move on!

thank you.

beaniesteve · 03/07/2008 18:45

Still nothing! Hrmmph!
