TTC after chemical pregnancy

LucyCL · 13/05/2024 16:51

I had a MC this Jan , 6 weeks and 1 day. Then I had a CP last Tuesday, 4 weeks and 6 days. I finally stopped bleeding today. Two pregnancies and two MCs so far.

I would like to know what your ttc experiences were like after CP. I admit I felt so lost when I saw the line getting fainter and I have been feeling very low and anxious for the last 7 days. However it is not healthy and it is time to be positive! So, I will be trying again this month. That is why I decided to start this thread.

@LucyCL good to know! Would be interesting to know why my CP happened. Maybe just a fault in implantation! Who knows.

Yes, call 111 or your early pregnancy unit. My maternity unit around here as a little messaging thing (they were getting annoyed with me when I was telling my issues regarding my tests getting lighter and told me to stop testing lol but oh well). I just self-referred but this time I’m not referring until I’m 6 weeks or take a test and it’s darker.

yay! Still 2 days behind you! Not sure when I’ll ovulate but hopefully more mid cycle! My first cycle peaked at CD20 on e@h but CD17 on CB digital… last month as you know was wild 😂 CB had me peak at CD13 but I do wonder if I had some HGC left

Super excited for this new cycle!

They shouldn't have gotten annoyed with you because you didn't know what to do and having a CP is also a serious thing!! It is one of the early MCs!! (Now I am a bit annoyed with them)
Yes, I will wait until 6 weeks too. However will you order a pregnancy blood test when you find out you are pregnant again? It is recommended to find out the hcg baseline level as soon as you get a BFP. Then you shall do another one after 48 hours to see it being doubled.
https://www.medichecks.com/products/pregnancy-blood-test
I plan to go to a private clinic to do the hcg beta blood test once I get a BFP.
I also don't know when I will ovulate this cycle.
However flo says 28/6/24, Mira says 29/6/24 and Premom says 30/6/24. I wonder if we will ovulate around similar dates. 😆

@LucyCL yeah, I felt like everyone was making me seem crazy but I knew my body and I knew what was going on!

good idea about the blood test - are you going to a specific place? How long does it take for a private clinic to get back to you? However, I’m not sure I will do it because it won’t change the outcome but I will take a look into it! If I do, I may do the at home
one!

i wonder if I mention on my referral form about miscarriages, if they will do that for me at the hospital (doubt it though!)

My flo is saying 29th which is CD18 for me! But flo is always so wildly off that I’d be very very surprised

I plan to go to a private clinic and it costs 49 pounds to do the blood test. I will receive the result within 24 hours. I did a few there at 10 a.m and got the results back around 5 p.m the same day.
You can mention your CP however I don't think they will treat it seriously unless you have at least 3 MCs. I got 2 MCs and asked the GP for the referral to the recurrent clinic but was only told to do a standard blood test at the hospital (I am still waiting for the result!)
So I don't think they will let you do the hcg beta blood test, sadly.😑

@LucyCL yeah one of my friends told me it took her 4 years to conceive and she got very little help. I don’t think fertility is at the top of the priority list which is a bit annoying (and wrong)!

I’ll deffo think on the HGC test but I think whatever will happen, will happen and a strip pregnancy test may tell me the same thing. Going to have a look at private clinics anyway - is it a specific one for women’s health or a private hospital type thing?

Maxi224 · 12/06/2024 21:59

Thank you to you both @LucyCL and @GreenPickle ive now started bleeding heavier and passing clots so I’ll get my bloods done tomorrow and start again when ready.

I am based on London so there are lots of private clinics there around Harley street. The one I go to is called Harley health centre and they do all sorts of tests for all genders. But it is not a hospital.

@LucyCL oh wow that is super cheap for London! Will deffo take a look.

My AF is mainly brown (had one wipe yesterday of fresh red) so not sure if I’m on CD1/2 or if I need to wait until it gets heavier to start counting? Will keep an eye on it either way and can always adjust period dates later!

just want to get to ovulation week 😂

my thermometer should arrive today so will start it first thing tomorrow!

are you doing OPKs during your period?

I’m going to start opk’s as my ovulation used to be non existent so it was no point but in the last 6 months I’ve been ovulating every month with cycles from 28-34 so now opks might actually help. Could anyone suggest any brands to use or stay away from.

im due for my blood work today to confirm my hcg is dropping. Hcg was 17, 48 hours ago and have been bleeding for nearly 2 days now but still only when I go to pee it still isn’t going into my pads or pants. I done my last test today assuming it to be negative now and the bloods to confirm but still showing the same faint line. Test on left is cycle day 29 middle cd 31 and on right today 33. Must take a while to come out system but this has been a learning curve of a cycle.

If I were you, I would count the first day of bleeding (any bleeding) as CD1. However how did you do it previously?
Before CP, I didn't do OPKs during the period. However after I did OPKs for the entire luteal phase for the last cycle, I have also started to do OPKs since CD1. I do it just for my curiosity! I think I will do it for every cycle!
Cannot wait until my period is finished!! Today is only CD4 for me.😂

Yes, doing OPKs every day will help especially you don't know when you will ovulate. I find BBT useful too.

  1. BBT thermometer: easy to use. Record BBT before you get out of the bed every morning. In general, BBT goes up when it is close to ovulation day. Then it goes down when AF is here.
  2. Easy@Home 25 x Ovulation Test Strips, Ovulation Predictor Kit: cheapest and easy to use, you can use it with the Premom app
  3. Clearblue Digital Ovulation Tests (OPK): flashing smile means high fertility and static smile means Peak, reasonable price
  4. Clearblue Fertility Monitor Advanced: It detects a rise in estrogen 4 days before LH peak , a bit expensive but very precise
  5. Mira Fertility Testing Device: Testing female hormones and creating a chart (more visual and actual figures but expensive)
  6. Apple watch: RHR and wrist temperature, more reliable than BBT.

Wow, you still have the faint line after 48 hours. That is interesting... Please keep us updated when you have the result. I did one 3 days after I started to bleed and it was stark white.

Thank you for the info, I actually have an Apple Watch so I’ll need to look into that and start using it.

I did expect the test to be completely negative today given I was 17hcg 48 hours ago and bleeding since the blood test was done. But these things are set to test us lol. I’ll keep you updated as finding this thread and reading back was exactly what I needed and hopefully can help someone else who’s experiencing the same.

LucyCL · 13/06/2024 10:57

CD4
BBT: It dropped. So LH level fluctuation is expected.
RHR: It dropped as well. So I assume that I am getting close to the true RHR when my period is finished??
LH strips: It gets lighter as expected
Mira: It seems my hormone levels are also dropping down to their baseline levels. Very good.
Wrist temperature: I still have to wait for two more nights. Exciting!
Bleeding: Low flow. I have the feeling that it will last for one more day which is great! My periods used to last for 5 days before my 1st MC!!

Everything looks promising so far, showing this is a normal cycle. 😁

I am really happy to hear that!! Because I knew some people would be like me looking for more information about CP, well, I did find some useful info however it is not sufficient enough to understand what our body is going through after CP. That is why I have decided to update and share my data every day here. Although everyone's body is different, they can still use this thread to know what is to come/expected. 🙂

@LucyCL thermometer is here! Had a little test and it was 36.52 but will use it properly from tomorrow morning!

not sure how I logged my periods previously - this is the heaviest brown blood I’ve had to I’m going to count it but it’s still lighter than usual… maybe just because it’s first official period after MC/CP? Who knows but excited to start this cycle!

also you might be better off putting your LH images into the easy@home tab because it gives different data to the Premom tab (something about qualitative vs quantitative?)

YouveGotAFastCar · 13/06/2024 14:28

GreenPickle · 09/06/2024 18:00

@YouveGotAFastCar do you mean upgrade your Apple Watch? I don’t do BBT as I think it would stress me out but thinking of getting an Apple Watch anyway!

does RHR go up during pregnancy?

hope all goes well for you this cycle ❤️ it’s a lonely journey for sure so please be kind to yourself no matter what happens!

No, I've got the latest Apple Watch. @LucyCL is right, it measures wrist temperature but a lot of fertility apps can use that data now. I've heard great things about Tempdrop and Ovusense, both of which are supposed to be more accurate.

My RHR went up while I was testing positive, yeah. I got an alert from a band I wear to say it'd gone up. My Apple Watch also detected it but didn't alert me.

I'm coming to the end of CP bleeding, I think. Very mixed feelings but I'm back at work so have to keep going, really.

Yes, it’s first official period after MC/CP. Thank you for reminding me!
Here is what I have found:
The Premom app offers two types of urine LH test strips. One is the Premom LH test strip which provides a quantitative level of the LH in the urine. The second is the Easy@Home (EAH) LH test strip which provides a ratio level of the LH in the urine

Although I prefer seeing the quantitative data (which I can obtain from Mira), I will stick with easy at home LH strips and only use the ratio level from now on. There is no pint of buying premom ones when I have got lots of easy at home ones. 😅

@LucyCL i do find the ratio helpful but also it’s affected by so many other things so the numbers may be off depending on light etc!

im excited for this new cycle, although a bit frustrating after having a positive test and having to start again 😩 but going to keep going and hopefully get a BFP this cycle!

im excited to start using my thermometer too 😂 I also have the little hgc e@h strips which is a dangerous game because I can just test all the time during the TWW

Actually I went crazy before AF arrived …
I bought so many pregnancy tests because I did BD until my ovulation date therefore I was a bit confused about why I didn’t get a BFP.
I won’t be buying any more because I have plenty to test hcg for this exiting new cycle. 😅
This new cycle is going to be normal and it is not affected by CP/other MCs. However I totally understand that it is frustrating to try again. I believe we will get BFPs if we keep trying diligently during our fertile windows.
