TTC after chemical pregnancy

1000 replies

LucyCL · 13/05/2024 16:51

I had a MC this Jan , 6 weeks and 1 day. Then I had a CP last Tuesday, 4 weeks and 6 days. I finally stopped bleeding today. Two pregnancies and two MCs so far.

I would like to know what your ttc experiences were like after CP. I admit I felt so lost when I saw the line getting fainter and I have been feeling very low and anxious for the last 7 days. However it is not healthy and it is time to be positive! So, I will be trying again this month. That is why I decided to start this thread.

Well I fell down a google rabbit hole last night 😭

had my CD3 bloods back which on the app say are all normal and within the normal ranges .

But the oestradiol is on the lower end of normal and panicking that’s why I had a CP. The GP who is not going to be a fertility expert will prob just say it’s in the normal range.

FSH 5.2
LH 1.7
oestradiol <88 (77-921 normal ranges)

Having a panic xx

Tbh it could just be one of those things! It could have been implantation, sperm abnormality.

i do understand trying to figure out the cause of it. I blamed myself for it - blamed sunbeds (shouldn’t have been going anyway but only went a few times!), blamed coffee, blamed not eating breakfast, etc. but ultimately, they are way more common than we realise. It’s just your bodies way of telling you that the little bean wouldn’t have survived. As morbid as it is, I was glad it happened earlier rather than later down the line.

you’ll drive yourself mad! Try again when you’re ready ❤️

Hi all, so sorry for all the ladies here who have experienced losses ❤️ could I jump on the thread please as currently experiencing what I believe to be a chemical at 4.5 weeks.

This was pregnancy number 3 after a MMC at 9 weeks in 2020 then having DD in 2021. Currently TTC baby number 2 and thought it was too good to be true getting caught on our first cycle trying and turns out it was 😔 I got a faint positive at 14dpo which got darker over the next couple of days and clear blue 1-2 weeks but the tests then started to fade. Waiting to start bleeding atm after getting a pretty much negative test this morning.

Im hoping to get straight back to trying next cycle 🤞

Sorry you’re going through. Not exactly the best club to be in, but you’re not alone!

I think the not knowing was the worst for me because you just want to start again. Everything is so wildly out of our control and it’s such a waiting game!

you’ll probably start bleeding in the next couple of days but be kind to yourself and just do lots of things you enjoy! Allow yourself to cry and feel crap! Big hugs ❤️❤️

I’m sorry your going through this, we have very similar stories.

I had fairly dark positive tests CD11,12,13 digi 1-2 weeks then CD14 nothing stark white. I started to bleed CD16.

it is cruel and very unfair but sending you lots of baby dust and everyone here seems lovely. Xxx

@Joleyjojo I was trying to understand why this happened and I thought something went wrong with my hormone levels which didn't support his pregnancy. I did a few blood tests and everything was normal. Here is what I found: CP happens because the most common cause is likely to be chromosomal problems with the developing baby and these are usually random, 'one-off' problems.
We shouldn't blame ourselves or look back because it will trap us in this limbo, feeling guilty and worried. I wouldn't worry about the oestradiol being on the lower end of normal because it is only snapshot.
I was worried about my progesterone being low because it was affected by the 1st MC and it was slight elevated on CD3. Then later I got pregnant and CP happened. After CP, on 7 DPO, I did the blood test again and my progesterone level was normal.
What I am trying to say is your hormone levels are very likely to be fine and we can not prevent CP. However it doesn't affect the next pregnancy.

I am sorry for your losses and you found this thread because of CP. Everyone bleeds differently after CP. Don't blame yourself or feel worried because it will not be helpful. Also don't be disheartened if you don't get a BFP straight away.
Sometimes I still feel like crying however I tell myself not to look back. Big hugs to you!💚

Thank you. Just having a bit of a day today. I know deep down there is so many reasons I sometimes wish google didn’t exist. Although very helpful at times.
I am going to concentrate on healthy eating, and im going to start exercising. I am overweight with BMI of 31 so I want to try and shift a stone whilst continuing to try.
thanks for your reassuring words x

@Joleyjojo honestly, my CP happened beginning of May and I’m having a bleh day today (6 weeks after the fact!) Your hormones are probably still all over the place!

im on CD2 and just putting my feelings down to being on my period.

we’ll both feel better in a couple of days… and then probably feel down again a few days after 😂

I guess it is normal to want to cry sometimes. Because I still have little moments of sadness then they go away immediately, not long enough for me to dwell in it.
I am not over it entirely but I am getting better at coping with the sadness.

I was feeling super positive when I got my first real period. Now I have finished bleeding and I am already trying for this new cycle however I am feeling a bit down today. I have seen threads about people getting BFPs within the first three cycles after CP, there are also people who are still trying for 6+ month after CPs. That makes me feel a bit lost.

Northernsoul90 · 16/06/2024 13:58

@LucyCL Thank you for your kindness. I've actually now started bleeding not long after posting on the thread so looks like that's it then. I'm presuming this would be classed as CD1 would you think so?

After my MMC I was still testing positive for weeks so it took a few months for my cycles to return but obviously I was further on then and my body just wasn't registering the loss itself so had to have surgical management.

I know I find it hard not to blame myself and get into a cycle of worry but just need to let myself be sad I suppose and then onwards and upwards xx

GreenPickle · 16/06/2024 14:16

@LucyCL I was also looking at threads saying the same thing and I think that’s why I’m a bit sore today. Some people took 2 months, some 6, some still not pregnant. But there are so many factors and everyone is so so different!

easier said than done, but comparison is the thief of joy!

ultimately, we don’t know what will happen. All these devices can aid us, but won’t really get us that BFP - it’s purely down to luck fundamentally!

it seems both our bodies were messed up by our miscarriages, and rightly so! But, we know we ovulate and we know we can get pregnant… it’s not if, it’s when 😁 remember, stress also affects TTC!

I’m getting back into reading so when I’m in my own head about it, I can just get out a book and not think about TTC for a bit 🫶

Yes, the first day of bleeding would be CD1.
I can understand how you feel. There have been times when I blame myself for the 1st MC (I could have protected it). I also tried to press down the negative feelings towards both MCs however it was not healthy either. Instead, I just have moments of sadness and I always have tears in my eyes. After that, I feel better. So, it is good to let them out and accept this is how I feel right now. Then I am ready to be positive and look forward.
Totally agree with you in this case.

LucyCL · 17/06/2024 09:46

GreenPickle · 17/06/2024 09:24

@LucyCL how are your charts looking today? 🤗

There is an upward trend in Mira and LH charts. BBT has not changed that much. Wrist temperature and RHR are starting to increase however 67 BPM doesn't reflect today's RHR. I will have to wait until tonight to get the true RHR of the day.
Yesterday was CD7 and my hormone levels are at their lowest.
Today is CD8 and they are starting to increase.

In previous cycles, I took vitamin B6 and E for the whole cycles. A few days ago, I found out that vitamin B6 could delay ovulation by decreasing estrogen so I stopped taking it and vitamin E. My ovulation was delayed for 2 days for the last cycle after CP.

I started to take a teaspoon of Maca powder from CD6 and will stop as soon as I ovulate.

OvuSense will arrive today and it is supposed to pin point the exact date of ovulation. It'd be interesting to try and see if it matches the rest of the collected data and charts.

So I expect to ovulate a bit earlier this cycle. How is your BBT chart looking? I assume it also hasn't changed that much. 😁

@LucyCL are you finding that the Apple Watch and bbt are matching up? Hard to tell from images!

ovusense - is that the same as mira?

this is me - CD3! My bleeding is a lighter today but not sure if that’s because I’ve been sitting down 😂 but hopefully will finish AF on Wednesday/Thursday.

going to take OPK every other day until AF ends and then every morning until about CD11/12 where I will do it twice a day!

how are you finding the Maca? 😂 hubby and I are taking it in turns to drink it lol. I wasn’t doing it every day my first cycle either so not really just I can put my bfp down to that (unless of course, it made my cp cycle 46 days 😂)

BBT and wrist temperature match because they haven't changed that much. RHR is hard to say... 😅

Ovusense is not like Mira. It is a device you put inside and it will calculate your BBT. It is more accurate because it is measuring internally.

This is what I found from the official website:
https://www.ovusense.com/uk/
For Getting Pregnant
If you’re trying to conceive, OvuSense provides the ideal way to understand when to time sex or treatment.

Choose OvuSense with the OvuCore vaginal sensor to predict and confirm ovulation using current cycle data. Works for all cycles types and ideal if you have irregular ovulation and/ or the number of days between your periods varies from cycle to cycle.

I asked for the difference between Tempdrop and OvuSense. People who answered the thread have PCOS and they all use Ovusense.
https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/conception/5096109-tempdrop-or-ovusense?reply=136033805

Maca powder smells like sweet potato. I find it hard to drink with water because the powder makes me cough after drinking it so I put it in the honey water which I drink every morning. It is much better!
I have seen comments from the internet saying Maca can increase estrogen and improve LH surge so it is good for the first half of the menstrual cycle until ovulation. It might also make the cycle longer. 🤔That is why people stop drinking maca after O day.

Your OPK plan sounds good! Yes, BBT keeps decreasing which is also normal in the first few days of your period. See how low BBT drops and I believe it will go up again soon. :)

Tempdrop or Ovusense? | Mumsnet

If you are using one of both, please let me know your reason of choosing it and your experience. I am really curious!

@LucyCL that is interesting about the ovu! Does it take internal temp?

would be so interested to know if everything lines up ✨ for science ✨

when will you start doing your CB fertility monitor?

good idea RE Maca, I think I stopped after ovulation before (mainly because it was vile). Also good for men’s sperm count I’ve heard!

Yes, OvuSense takes internal temp.
My CB fertility monitor tells me to start testing on CD9 (tomorrow). It will detect a rise in estrogen so it'd be interesting to see if I ovulate exactly 5 days later to match OvuSense and other charts. Will also share my findings here.
Science is interesting. It turns TTC after CP into an exciting and fun experiment which gives me a chance to learn more about our body.😄
Are you going to buy one?

OP posts:
Joleyjojo · 17/06/2024 10:38

I wear it internally every night and register it in the morning. As long as you have slept for 4 hours the temps are accurate.

I don’t use it to predict ovulation I use it to show I have ovulated if that makes sense. I used OPKs to judge my actual surge which then marry up with the temp rise.

it does give you a fertile window based on previous cycles but my cycles vary so much.

as long as my temps stay up after ovulation I feel safe to stop DTD for a bit.

I will be using it with my CB monitor this month and OPKs just to see if it is the same.

many say just relax it will happen, but with my age etc I will need all the help indication I can get

i have attached a screen shot just for info. I like to know when AF is coming from the drop saves me the heartache of doing any tests and seeing the BFN.

Edited

@LucyCL ooo, are you due to ovulate this week then?

no, won’t be buying one! I find myself becoming obsessive and not good for me
mentally!

The LH strips and BBT will have to do for me as anything around that is just DTD which is the only thing I can control!

but I love hearing people’s little anecdotes about TTC and devices!

this month I’m going to try and relax more and stress less (lol) and maybe use headspace to just focus myself! I’m trying not to put any pressure on myself but it’s hard as i feel like a bit embarrassed whenever i don’t get a BFP
