BFP after first failed IVF? What the actual F

Helloo - husband (38) and I (31) TTC for 2+ years with not a single positive. Laparoscopy diagnosed twisted tubes, stage II Endo and low AMH (8). Both always been healthy, fit, no illnesses etc. So, obviously been feeling very angry with the situation.
Last cycle was our first round of IVF and a fresh transfer (22 eggs, 14 fertilised, 1 grade A embryo put in, with 5 in the freezer)- it failed with no answers. Now, the first cycle after the IVF, I find myself with faint lines at 15DPO, which seems rather late. Ovulated CD19/20 (definitely). I usually have 10/11 day luteal phases and no AF has shown, just spotting. Could these be evap lines?
I’m obviously in total denial because we were told it just probably won’t happen naturally for us. Scared of ectopic as well. Absolutely mind blown. Any words of advice? I don’t know what to think.

@GoldenRetriever1 sooo happy for you.
And re smashing up the living room, hose pregnancy hormones will play havoc with you. I went off with stress and anxiety before I found out I was pregnant, and it was the hormones messing with me!
I’ll be following this thread. So happy for you 💙💙

Urgh having doubts now. Worried about how pale the lines are for 16DPO and I’m still spotting. Bloods are booked for tomorrow and Friday, but I think I’ve read too many chemical stories on here…

I think you need to accept that you are not going to relax until your baby is here.

I didn’t go on half the journey you did, but I still didn’t relax the whole time I was pregnant. I thought I’d feel better after the 12 week scan. Then I worried about the 20 week scan. Then I worried about movements. Then I worried about something going wrong giving birth.

You have been through an horrendous time, but right now - you are pregnant. I told myself that daily. Pregnant until proven otherwise.

Be kind to yourself, show yourself some grace. You’ve been through so much, it’s going to be a rollercoaster for you. One step at a time x

GoldenRetriever1 · 02/04/2024 19:14

@DrunkenElephant Thank you 🐘 - you are absolutely right. There will always be another step to worry about. I think because we’ve had so many let downs, negative outcomes, procedures etc. I cannot for the life of me imagine that it’s actually going to work out.
It already feels like such a miracle (like when we got 22 eggs from our IVF! I cried with happiness.. then we fell at the last hurdle when it didn’t implant).. and so, I’m waiting for it to crumble again. It’s all such mind work.

Thank you, again, for your kind words 🧡

Wow OP congratulations!! Xx

GoldenRetriever1 · 03/04/2024 12:34

Waiting for first HCG blood results. Calling any time from now! Quick question regarding implantation: does anyone know if implantation spotting occurs after or during implantation?

All of my dates still don’t add up. Ovulated cycle day 19, the brown spotting happened 12DPO and then a very faint positive test on 14DPO. All seems rather late to me. Any ideas? Or perhaps I need to stop faffing!

Hi OP, for me it was after implantation. I started spotting on the Sunday, believed it was the start of my period (earlier than expected) and had it until the Wednesday. Once the spotting stopped I tested and got my BFP.

She's now 15 months old and amazing. Also very much a surprise baby as I was on the waiting list for IVF xx

GoldenRetriever1 · 03/04/2024 13:26

@Janey3090 Hi Janey, thank you for sharing - okay that makes sense. I’m just a tad concerned as my spotting started last Friday (I thought it was AF as well, coming on time).. and it’s continued but very very very very light. I got a faint line Sunday, Monday and yesterday. Obviously with these last two years of infertility, I’m going to the worst case scenario!

So obviously freaking out - bloods results are in. 31 IU at 17DPO and progesterone was 46.

Wishing you congratulations and good wishes on your journey.

boydoggies · 03/04/2024 16:13

ps, have been watching and waiting for an update. So pleased.

overthestorms · 03/04/2024 16:18

Hi @GoldenRetriever1 I tried to google it but I can't figure out what the blood work means? Mine was just hcg levels!

GoldenRetriever1 · 03/04/2024 16:32

@overthestorms Sorry I didn’t clarify. My HCG is 31 IU at 17DPO, which is extremely low. Progesterone is good at 46.

OP posts:
RedMark · 03/04/2024 16:50

I know this isn't helpful for now, op but the HCG number doesn't say much in itself with one result. Are you getting repeat bloods done in 2/3 days? That will show if the HCG is doubling which is the indicator.

GoldenRetriever1 · 03/04/2024 16:55

@RedMark Yes, having it retested on Friday.
Obviously I’ve been hunting for success stories with a similar result to mine and I can’t find any. Most women are 400+ iu at this stage.

OP posts:
RedMark · 03/04/2024 17:33

@GoldenRetriever1 I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. Though I do understand your worry.

overthestorms · 03/04/2024 19:32

Thanks for clarifying @GoldenRetriever1 I'm really sorry you're going through this. I've had to wait for repeat bloods multiple times and it's torture.
Your hcg levels do seem very low and my experience with those levels was never positive. But, everyone is different so I really hope you get good news on Friday x

GoldenRetriever1 · 03/04/2024 20:49

@overthestorms 😔 hope is no longer here. Can’t quite believe I’m back here.

Thinking of you, I'm not sure if something further has happened but I just wanted to say either way, please be very kind to yourself. The past few days have been a lot whatever the future is.

@overthestorms 😔 hope is no longer here. Can’t quite believe I’m back here.

I just found your thread in active and remember reading about huge variations in hCg levels in pregnancy.

This is similar to another table I found when I was pregnant.

I really hope everything is OK for you.

mumpenalty · 03/04/2024 22:47

Keeping things crossed for you op. It could well be that you ovulated very late in this cycle as it was the first post ivf…..

maisiedaisy64 · 03/04/2024 23:01

Just to reassure you on your HCG, I had a level of 60 at around the same days as you and I’m now 32 weeks. Fingers crossed!!

GoldenRetriever1 · 04/04/2024 09:41

Thanks everyone. I’m still feeling terrible. Second blood draw is tomorrow, but I don’t feel optimistic after everything I’ve read online.
