BFP after first failed IVF? What the actual F

Helloo - husband (38) and I (31) TTC for 2+ years with not a single positive. Laparoscopy diagnosed twisted tubes, stage II Endo and low AMH (8). Both always been healthy, fit, no illnesses etc. So, obviously been feeling very angry with the situation.
Last cycle was our first round of IVF and a fresh transfer (22 eggs, 14 fertilised, 1 grade A embryo put in, with 5 in the freezer)- it failed with no answers. Now, the first cycle after the IVF, I find myself with faint lines at 15DPO, which seems rather late. Ovulated CD19/20 (definitely). I usually have 10/11 day luteal phases and no AF has shown, just spotting. Could these be evap lines?
I’m obviously in total denial because we were told it just probably won’t happen naturally for us. Scared of ectopic as well. Absolutely mind blown. Any words of advice? I don’t know what to think.

Thanks everyone. Hospital just phone and my level dropped to 8iu, so I’m out.
I thanked the embryo last night for allowing me to believe in miracles (as in creating an embryo without assistance - thought I never could). Also thanked the embryo for being here with me, even though it was only a short time. I guess I won’t know if it ended up in my tube or uterus. The stress and worry has been too much, so I’ll be heading back to the IVF clinic to book in my FET.
Thanks again for all the love and support.

Sending much love to you and gentle hugs.

Your body did an amazing thing against overwhelming odds.

@overthestorms Sorry I didn’t clarify. My HCG is 31 IU at 17DPO, which is extremely low. Progesterone is good at 46.

Just seen the update OP - I'm sorry x

DrunkenElephant · 05/04/2024 14:44

I don’t have any words really OP, nothing that won’t sound trite anyway. You are in my thoughts and I’m sending you gentle hugs, I hope you get your miracle soon x

RedMark · 05/04/2024 15:11

So sorry, op. There's really nothing I can say I know but take care of yourself, feel sad, grieve but hang on to that hope if you can. I found it extremely difficult to believe people when they said that and I was convinced it would never happen for us, even when I got pregnant with my icsi baby (he was my only embryo from that cycle), I was 100% convinced even then that I would never actually hold my baby in my arms.

Will be thinking of you and hoping that little FET will be in your arms soon x

Maireas · 05/04/2024 16:19

I'm sorry to hear your update.
I hope everything works out next time. 🌷

I’m sorry to hear this @GoldenRetriever1 . I really feel for you. I had a long and hard 5 year ttc journey with multiple IVF rounds and multiple miscarriages. I got to the point where it seemed like I was beyond help and hope and miracles happened to other people, but it did eventually happen, with some luck and science. My suggestion would be that, before your FET, that you see if you can have any additional tests to see why miscarriage might be happening. Best of luck.

GoldenRetriever1 · 05/04/2024 17:36

@mumpenalty Thank you for your kind words - and I’m so sorry to hear that your journey was long. Very pleased that you finally did get your miracle though.

I’m not quite sure how to feel about it.. in regards to more testing. This is the first time I’ve had an actual implantation and early miscarriage. The first fresh transfer never implanted to begin with - my consultant thinks maybe due to the drugs, pain and swelling after the egg collection. Before the IVF, I’ve never had a positive test or any signs of pregnancy at all. I’m hoping this time was just either far too late implantation, which would match with my dates or a simple chemical..? I just don’t know. Feeling vacant and rather overwhelmed at the idea of more tests.

I'm so really sorry and wishing you all the best for FETs.

As per post above suggesting you get testing for why the miscarriage happened, it's not possible to get testing done after a single miscarriage, unless you go somewhere privately of course.
With early miscarriages it's often the case of chromosomal issues.
Many of us are here to listen and support your FET journey 🌷

GoldenRetriever1 · 05/04/2024 18:02

@Newpancake92 Thank you for your message - it means a lot.

I’ve scraped the barrel of the internet the last few days.. and my personal gut feeling is the late implantation (12/13DPO). My tubes are complex, lazy and wavy.. wherever it implanted, whether it reached the uterus or not, it didn’t quite get there in time for the embryo to thrive. I’m just thankful in a way that it did implant.. because that’s never happened before. My body did something. A miracle that could have been, perhaps. Xx

Oh OP I’m so sorry.
Grieve now but if you can, when you’re ready, take the positive from this that your body did something it’s never done before! It made a baby. Which means it can do it again and hopefully, next time baby will stick. ❤️❤️❤️

Thefutureisourownpath · 05/04/2024 18:31

You wanted hope stories. 5 m/c not even miscarriages really 5 MMC and GA each time at under 12 weeks and D and C. Then ectopic and left tube removed. Then burst appendix and gangrenous and serious issues with scarring 80-90 percentage in right tube. On the pill waiting the have right tube removed. Fine one day and then down hill quickly stomach pain etc and went to see GP. She said could be ovarian cyst (previous scan had revealed large cyst on right ovary) she phoned hospital and booked same day ultrasound but having made the appointment said they want a pregnancy test done - we both laughed as I was resigned by that point of being told I would never have children. But on the pill all good. Pregnancy test handed her the pee and she tested and them tested again and then tested a third time and then said you are pregnant. Went immediately to hospital for internal vaginal scan as the risk of ectopic was huge and no there she was in the uterus not even a heartbeat at that point. 17 and a bit years later she is doing 4 A levels and applying to Cambridge 😂🤦‍♀️

with number 2 was told again after lots of tests and aged 40 this time that we could try but highly unlikely and needed to be very careful as per number 1, same situation - two weeks later returned to GP and said ‘I think I’m pregnant and need a scan’ she laughed and said no - 6 hours later another internal scan and there he was - sac in uterus

  • so it can happen.
  • I hope and pray it does for you on your journey
Newpancake92 · 05/04/2024 18:32

Looks like it's very likely your tubes were the issue.
Knowing IVF overcomes tubal problems and your body had some time to recover from all the fresh cycle drugs, I'm having lots of hope for your FET cycle 💕

GoldenRetriever1 · 05/04/2024 18:52

@Thefutureisourownpath Your story is absolutely incredible. I had to share it with my husband. Thank you for sharing. Although I hate that you had such an awful journey to get your miracles, it does give me hope. It makes my situation actually feel rather ridiculous/simple. I’m so sorry you went through all that.

Hope the Cambridge application goes well!!! That’s incredible.
