BFP after first failed IVF? What the actual F

Helloo - husband (38) and I (31) TTC for 2+ years with not a single positive. Laparoscopy diagnosed twisted tubes, stage II Endo and low AMH (8). Both always been healthy, fit, no illnesses etc. So, obviously been feeling very angry with the situation.
Last cycle was our first round of IVF and a fresh transfer (22 eggs, 14 fertilised, 1 grade A embryo put in, with 5 in the freezer)- it failed with no answers. Now, the first cycle after the IVF, I find myself with faint lines at 15DPO, which seems rather late. Ovulated CD19/20 (definitely). I usually have 10/11 day luteal phases and no AF has shown, just spotting. Could these be evap lines?
I’m obviously in total denial because we were told it just probably won’t happen naturally for us. Scared of ectopic as well. Absolutely mind blown. Any words of advice? I don’t know what to think.

As someone currently in the trenches of infertility this story has made me so happy this morning! Congratulations OP! Pregnancy announcements normally make me feel like I’ve been punched in the stomach (a million times) but honestly this one has just made me tear up from happiness! Maybe it’s from a selfish point in that miracles do happen to maybe it will for me or maybe it’s just one less person suffering in this way now! I’m so happy for you OP!

QueenBee22 · 02/04/2024 11:39

Huge congratulations OP. I remember getting my BFP on my third round of ovulation induction. Those strips aren't faint at all, they are extremely dark! I didn't get lines as dark as what you have until after 14 DPO. I now have a wonderful 9 month old here with me to show for it! Best wishes for your pregnancy.

@Rycbar Thank you for your lovely words. I know exactly where you are. I was there literally four days ago.. spotting.. another failed cycle.. surprise surprise.. hunting for stories similar to my own.. but then my full AF never came, so I took a test. If this ends up being a viable pregnancy, it’s an absolute miracle. I’m so pleased that my story gives you hope.
Honestly, a natural conception seemed completely out of the question due to my tubes. The IVF was meant to bypass that issue and still, my body said no.
It sounds crazy, but last week I did “calling in your spirit baby” meditations everyday. I told the universe I was ready, I even spoke to one of my very religious friends and asked him to pray. And now.. here I am. In total bewilderment. Fingers crossed everything goes Ok.

I really hope you get your miracle very soon. All my love xx

@QueenBee22 Thank you. It really is a shock.
They don’t seem dark at all in person?! They’ve been consistently this faint for three days now.. so no progression. Bloods tomorrow.. fingers crossed!

@Rycbar Oh and regarding pregnancy announcements… that was the worst thing for me. I’m currently doing CBT because of how badly I react to them. My oldest friend announced her pregnancy last week and I pretty much smashed up the living room (not something I would usually do). I feel you, so much. Your time will come. X

Are the original 3 tests that you posted from three different days? With the earliest at the top of the photo? If so then there’s definitely progression!

Huge congratulations to you!

Someone I used to do yoga classes with, she'd tried IVF, it failed, she and her DH then went through adoption only to have that fail at last hurdle. She got divorced, moved back to her home country of Australia, met someone (it didn't work out) and fell pregnant, now has a son or daughter.

Another friend, similar story, had tried 2 rounds of IVF, was going to look at adoption route. Went away with her DH on a sabbatical, whilst they were travelling she became pregnant naturally and they cut short the travelling to come home. When she spoke to her doctor, she said often when you're relaxed but not worrying about (she was nervous because she'd been smoking, drinking etc) things your body thinks that's a good time to get pregnant.

I think the meditations and positive thought can't hurt at all. Miracles can happen.

Poppalina37 · 02/04/2024 12:24

Aww congratulations xx this makes my heart happy 💗

Enjoy every minute xx

Maireas · 02/04/2024 12:26

You're right to be cautious, though. You have to protect your mental health. It's a wonderful result, and certainly gives you hope, but you're absolutely right not to get too optimistic.
I've got everything crossed that your tubes behave themselves and all turns out well! 💕

Scrambledchickens · 02/04/2024 12:56

Congratulations OP what a lovely post to read.

Hibye23289 · 02/04/2024 13:20

MujeresLibres · 02/04/2024 13:20

Congratulations OP. I also have endo and tubal problems, but I too got pregnant after failed IVF. Best wishes.

TokyoSushi · 02/04/2024 13:24

Oh I would love for this to work out for you OP, good luck!

spudnik1 · 02/04/2024 13:50

We were trying for 6 years. Fertility treatment failed. So we stopped. Decided the 9ne child we already have was enough.
We then sold/ donated all of the baby things we had been hoarding in the attic.
Booked a fabulous med cruise with stay in Rome afterwards for this summer ☀️ to give us something yo look forward to. Then 5 weeks before final payment on the cruise we found out we were pregnant ! Complete and utter shock !

Still hasn't sunk in and I think it won't until I am holding the baby.

I though I was menopausal 😂 I only did a test as I had some old ones still stuffed in the back of the bathroom cabinet .

Montypig · 02/04/2024 14:10

I conceived 2x naturally after ivf with one tube ( following an ectopic) so it can happen !! Good luck !!!

@spudnik1 These stories are amazing! I guess most of the time it really is down to the universe. Totally out of our hands. I’m so pleased you had your miracle baby!

Montypig · 02/04/2024 14:27

yep, 3x ivf (one worked), 1x ectopic, 6x miscarriage and now 3 big teenagers, two of which were not ivf. good luck, will be thinking of you

GoldenRetriever1 · 02/04/2024 14:31

@Montypig Wow - I’m so so so pleased it all worked out for you. I’m sorry you went through a long and I’m sure emotional journey to get your whole family… but wow what epic stories to tell! Much love. Thanks for the best wishes xx

I had fertility treatment after two years of trying for baby #1.

8mths after DC1 was born I was feeling crappy and turns out it was because I was 5mths pregnant. Exclusively BFing, barely having sex because you know…new born and exhausted. Both adults now.

very best wishes!
