BFP after first failed IVF? What the actual F

Helloo - husband (38) and I (31) TTC for 2+ years with not a single positive. Laparoscopy diagnosed twisted tubes, stage II Endo and low AMH (8). Both always been healthy, fit, no illnesses etc. So, obviously been feeling very angry with the situation.
Last cycle was our first round of IVF and a fresh transfer (22 eggs, 14 fertilised, 1 grade A embryo put in, with 5 in the freezer)- it failed with no answers. Now, the first cycle after the IVF, I find myself with faint lines at 15DPO, which seems rather late. Ovulated CD19/20 (definitely). I usually have 10/11 day luteal phases and no AF has shown, just spotting. Could these be evap lines?
I’m obviously in total denial because we were told it just probably won’t happen naturally for us. Scared of ectopic as well. Absolutely mind blown. Any words of advice? I don’t know what to think.

Wow! Tentative congratulations.

But I’d go and get a digital, just so you know to trust it.

GoldenRetriever1 · 01/04/2024 09:28

@ImWatching Haha - tentative is the perfect word.. I have one digital left, which I’m saving for tomorrow morning. Unsure whether to tell the clinic! Our FET was booked for my next cycle! What a mind mess.

3 clear lines there OP, tentative congrats. Considering this might be your moment I’d pee on the digital now and buy another for tomorrow.

ImWatching · 01/04/2024 09:32

Definitely phone the clinic tomorrow. They may do hCG blood test for you.

GoldenRetriever1 · 01/04/2024 09:33

@TeaKitten I don’t think my nerves can hack it.. even making this post has my heart rate going! (First time posting, after being a snooper for 2 years!) 😂

@ImWatching Good idea. It’s also April Fools, so obviously my mind is telling me the universe is pulling a flipping prank 🙄

Anyone else have any similar stories?

I’ve used these tests for over a year and never ever got a slight line or an evap until I was actually pregnant. So I would say it’s positive, congratulations x

BadgerFace · 01/04/2024 11:49

My eldest is an IVF baby. 2 years later we had a frozen cycle which was unsuccessful. My follow up appointment was delayed as the clinic were moving premises and we had time for a natural cycle in between frozen cycles. The fertile window fell the week we moved house so had a rather unenthusiastic-must-fit- this-in moment with DH. I was used to long period cycles and disappointment so refused to waste £10 on a pregnancy test when I hit day 35. Day 39 was my IVF clinic appointment to schedule the next frozen cycle so thought I’d better do a test just to be in the safe side. Did the test at 5.30am and didn’t tell DH as it didn’t seem worth the anticipation, hope, disappointment rollercoaster for him as well as me. Then had to wake him up when I hit a BFP. Natural miracle baby now 8! 😊

GoldenRetriever1 · 01/04/2024 11:54

@Jellybelly888 thank you - Ah really? That’s reassuring. Whenever I’ve used these it’s always been stark white as well to be honest.. I think I’m just second guessing everything. In huge denial.

@BadgerFace This is such a lovely story - thank you for sharing it. It obviously gives me hope - but I’m still in this state of disbelief. I’m also a tad concerned because of how late it is (15DPO) and the lines appearing rather faint. Denial denial denial! 😂

Please take a digital!!!

sarahc336 · 01/04/2024 12:06

Remember digital are less sensitive that strip ones though so I'd probably wait a day or so for a digital good luck op 😁

GoldenRetriever1 · 01/04/2024 12:07

@Thebitefandango even in the middle of the day?! A “Not Pregnant” would ruin my vibe right now 😂

OP posts:
FlowerBarrow · 01/04/2024 12:11

Those are very clear positives, the lines aren’t faint btw!
Can you contact your clinic to book a 6 week viability scan which would be just about 2 weeks yesterday? (you’d prob have to pay)

GoldenRetriever1 · 01/04/2024 12:18

@FlowerBarrow I was skeptical because it took a good few minutes to show anything at all. To begin with, looked very negative. Then I came back and then lines were there.
Yes - I think that’s my plan. If I get another positive tomorrow (via digital), I’ll call the clinic for next steps. Now that will be an interesting convo!

I think once you are past when your period is due, you should get a positive result on a digital. I took one around the same time and got a positive result. Try to hold your pee for 4 hours. Alternatively eait until tomorrow, I'm just excited for you!

GoldenRetriever1 · 01/04/2024 12:29

@Thebitefandango Ahh okay. See, I’m experienced in being disappointed.. but not with things like this 😂I genuinely can’t get too excited because I’m so concerned about the chances of chemical/ectopic. I saw photographs of my tubes and they’re pretty wavy and lazy.. that would be quite the voyage for an embryo…!
I will do the digital first thing tomorrow! 😉

Aydel · 01/04/2024 12:29

Not me, but the same thing happened to a friend. Failed ivf and a month later she was pregnant naturally.

Congratulations!

GoldenRetriever1 · 01/04/2024 12:31

@Aydel my brain never allowed me to believe these miracle stories.. it just does not compute. Perhaps IVF can kickstart the system sometimes (or in my case, the tubes). Who knows!

RockStarship · 01/04/2024 12:43

Ah huge congratulations!!! That's absolutely amazing and I wish you all the luck in the world!

My dd was conceived in similar circumstances. Spent years trying for a baby with no luck. Then had a round of IVF which failed. We paid to have private tests done to try and determine the cause of my infertility and the specialist saw what he thought was a chocolate cyst on my ovary and advised having it removed as he said it could be affecting my ability to get pregnant. I decided to book the op in for the following month and then would have round two of IVF shortly after. A few weeks later my af didn't start but I couldn't bring myself to test straight away after years of negative tests and slightly irregular cycles. Then that week I had a number of weird fleeting waves of light headedness which was unusual for me. So once I was a week late for my af I decided to test just to rule it out, not expecting two lines...and there they were! My dd is now almost 11.

GoldenRetriever1 · 01/04/2024 12:49

@RockStarship What a great story - thank you for sharing. Isn’t it crazy how the body works (or doesn’t work!)? I can’t quite get my head around it - I had totally totally written off natural conception. Obviously concerned about ectopic at this stage… I guess time will tell.
It does make a nice change though.. if the positive is true - my body finally did it!! What a ridiculous April Fools it’s been today 😂

Beamur · 01/04/2024 12:52

I know quite a few women who conceived naturally after IVF.
Fingers crossed for you.

GoldenRetriever1 · 01/04/2024 13:02

@Beamur Totally bizarre isn’t it. Thank you! I’m crossing everything right now.

violetcuriosity · 01/04/2024 13:09

Good luck OP! A digital should show up in the middle of the day with lines that dark xx
