BFP after first failed IVF? What the actual F

Helloo - husband (38) and I (31) TTC for 2+ years with not a single positive. Laparoscopy diagnosed twisted tubes, stage II Endo and low AMH (8). Both always been healthy, fit, no illnesses etc. So, obviously been feeling very angry with the situation.
Last cycle was our first round of IVF and a fresh transfer (22 eggs, 14 fertilised, 1 grade A embryo put in, with 5 in the freezer)- it failed with no answers. Now, the first cycle after the IVF, I find myself with faint lines at 15DPO, which seems rather late. Ovulated CD19/20 (definitely). I usually have 10/11 day luteal phases and no AF has shown, just spotting. Could these be evap lines?
I’m obviously in total denial because we were told it just probably won’t happen naturally for us. Scared of ectopic as well. Absolutely mind blown. Any words of advice? I don’t know what to think.

@Danioyellow I wonder what the digital will bring me tomorrow morning… 🥴

I understand completely. I had an ivf appointment when low and behold I was pregnant. I'm still in disbelief and she's 13. 4 test cannot be a mistake. Congratulations!

GoldenRetriever1 · 01/04/2024 18:05

@KomodoOhno its so incredibly shocking… especially as I’m still in that come down after my failed IVF transfer last month. Best friend announced she was pregnant last week, and I’ve been feeling so jealous/sad/angry.. but now what’s happened?!? Totally totally crazy.

I am so happy for you! It is the best kind of shock. If you want to save the digital test though just now after about 6 months it turns blank. Yes I saved every test and the receipt from the store.

GoldenRetriever1 · 01/04/2024 18:13

@KomodoOhno Haha - I don’t think I’m even in the good kind of shock yet. I’m high risk of ectopic, so I’m obviously preoccupied with those worries! Huge face palm!

This situation, really similar details, happened to my friends. Their little boy is now 3. Fingers crossed for you.

GoldenRetriever1 · 01/04/2024 18:15

@LeedsZebra90 Fertility can obviously be a real mystery. It still does not make sense in my head. So happy for your friends and their little boy.

@Danioyellow I wonder what the digital will bring me tomorrow morning… 🥴

Fingers crossed!
I remember reading Sir Robert Winston's book about getting pregnant, and even he can't really account for some pregnancies nor explain some infertility. Good luck.

GoldenRetriever1 · 01/04/2024 18:57

@Maireas It’s fascinating. Pretty sure my consultant will be totally perplexed when I let the clinic know tomorrow (provided the test confirms officially officially). Just got to keep everything crossed that the embryo made it through my twisted tubes. 🤞🏻😳

Maireas · 01/04/2024 19:00

I remember he wrote about one pregnancy and he couldn't work out which of the woman's damaged tubes had decided to co-operate! That book gave me enormous hope...plus I have two adult DC now 😊

GoldenRetriever1 · 01/04/2024 19:03

@Maireas It’s mind-blowing. I do keep thinking maybe the IVF kicked my tubes into gear. (I had a high egg yield despite low AMH - and ovaries were huge). Tubes were described as very slow/lazy by my surgeon. Never ever had a BFP until now.
So happy that you found your hope and had your lovely children!

Thank you! It took a while. Then things decided to function properly! Never say never x

GoldenRetriever1 · 01/04/2024 19:06

@Maireas I guess even if things don’t quite work out this time round… I should find comfort in that my body DID PART OF IT.. finally!

This happened to my friend after her third and final failed round of IVF at 41. She was pregnant the following month, after giving up all hope. She had a gorgeous little boy 🥰

GoldenRetriever1 · 01/04/2024 19:11

@ShoNuff Wow - that’s amazing. Must have felt like a real miracle. So happy to hear this story.

We tried for a baby for 5 years. Had fertility treatment (not ivf) and it failed 3 times. We adopted, having a toddler barely had sex....twice in 4 months and the second time I got pregnant.
It can happen, your tests show at this time you are pregnant and that is amazing! Send you congratulations 🎊

nokidshere · 01/04/2024 19:21

I was ttc for 15yrs, everything failed. 2 years after calling a halt to it all I fell pregnant naturally, and then again 2yrs later. They are 25 & 23 now and I still can't believe they are both mine 😁

Good luck 🤞

LeoDiCapricorn · 01/04/2024 19:25

I had IVF after trying for seven years only two successful embryos to transfer and one healthy baby born. Less than a year later I felt really run down and sick, the reason why will be 15 very soon. Two babies 15 months apart was fun so wishing you lots of luck 🍀

GoldenRetriever1 · 01/04/2024 19:26

@scarfonthestairs thank you so much for sharing your story. What a miracle! And you’re right - right now, it seems like I’m pregnant. That’s an achievement in itself (irregardless of next steps)!

@nokidshere Wow - another miracle!!! Thank you for sharing your story. Our bodies are fascinating and bizarre.

@LeoDiCapricorn I’m loving these miracle stories - funny when I was in the thick of IVF injections, I read stories like this and couldn’t believe them. And here I am.. in a pretty miraculous circumstance.
Thank you for sharing and I’m so happy you got your babies!!!

My (successful) pregnancy was confirmed by the Early Pregnancy Unit as I was too pessimistic to cancel the appointment and hadn't done a test but my period was 3 weeks late.
Well done OP, you've made it to this point.

pippabg · 01/04/2024 19:35

This is so exciting! I'm commenting so I can get the update tomorrow morning! I wouldn't take the progesterone in until you've ruled out ectopic. Praying this is your time! Those tests are unmistakably positive!
