Icsi ivf may 2024

Hi ladies I thought I'd create this thread to support anyone doing ivf in May 2024, it's great to have other people to talk to going ture the same thing!
My background I'm 31 with low AMH of 3, suffering from secondary infertility 2.5 years ttc had a failed IVF cycle in February where my 4 mature eggs just failed to fertilized so we have been advised to do ICSI for our next cycle! I decided to give my body a break and get back into end of April/may depending on how my cycle returns:)

Hey everyone! Mind if I join as well.
32 with three year old dd. Been trying for another for over two years but no bfps so far. Our first took a while as well, but nowhere near this long and eventually conceived ourselves. Tests and scans show everything ok, AMH 7.smth, so unexplained for us.
It’s our first cycle of IVF. Actually I don’t know if it’s gonna be ivf or icsi, but probably the former. I had a diphereline shot for down regulation a few weeks ago and starting today 8 days of gonal 300, then a scan to see how it’s going. Doctor said retrieval probably 28-30 may so fingers crosswd for that.

@BakinABaby welcome to the group .. hope your injections are ok for you ? I am on day 3 of injections.. I have a scan (7 days after 1st injection) on Monday to see how things are progressing.. I have slight cramps /tender feeling in tummy either sides but nothing too sore .. we will probably have egg collect around the same time 😁

I'm more afraid of just being a spastic and dropping the pen and ruining it than any off feelings :D I hope it doesn't get too bad for you and you get good news on Monday.

i am sure you will be ok, just try and relax .. easier said than done 🥴, I don’t find them that bad to be honest .. thanks .. 🙏 will keep you all posted how it goes 😁

@BakinABaby welcome hope your stims go well. I have the same paranoia, last night after injections we went out for dinner, I was then panicking that I only mixed one vial instead of 2 I couldn't rest until I got home to see 2 empty vials 🤣
I'm on day 4 of stims, have my scan also on Monday @hopefullsosbry then hopefully EC on the Wednesday (well if all goes to plan)
@BakinABaby I'm also on 300iu my AMH is 17.9 we are MF infertility at this end so ICSI

@Ecas88 amh of 53! Wow that is high, how many follicles do you have on scans?
I could be wrong but does sperm take over on Day 3? I know you said your partner all tested fine, fertility really is a mystery sometimes 🤔
But no my partner only had the normal SA it all looked good we didn't test DNA fragmentation our doctor doesn't see the point in that because either way there going to do icsi
I hope I get as far as a fresh transfer! My stomach goes in knots every time I think of it 🥲 will you be doing a fresh transfer ?

@hopefullsosbry I know all our hard work to get them 2 lines then the stress of not knowing what's going on inside us when we do get them lines it really is a roller coaster 😂
I think if you take the trigger shot Wednesday night you would do EC Friday morning 🤔 I'm hoping after my second scan Monday they will tell me to trigger for Wednesday morning! My clinic only does EC Wednesday to Friday 🥺 I'm with a clinic in Ireland! Bit of a pain it only been 3 days because I'm actually due to ovulate this Sunday!

I love the name @BakinABaby 😂 I also have secondary infertility! My dd is 5 now always wanted siblings close to age looks like that isn't going to happen 🙃 if you put a ice pack on your belly for a few minutes you really don't feel the needle you'll be a pro after your second day of injections 🥰

We could possibly have the same EC day 🥰 have you had a scan already to show follicle growth?

@Cloclo93 aww wow, I've not had any scans yet, have you?
When are you starting the cetrodide or what ever brand you have been given.
How are you finding the stims? I've not really felt much different apart from I find these injections sting and leave a red mark for around 24hrs I had one big bruise as I hit a vein whoops

haha thanks 😘 Actually it wasn’t that bad, barely felt it. It was harder psychologically to poke myself on purpose. Now come on, grow eggies!
I know what you mean about the age gap. I wanted to bang mine out in quick succession. In hindsight I’m perhaps glad that didn’t happen, would’ve gone mad and it has been nice to get back to work and independence for a bit, but dd closer to 4 now and I don’t want the gap to get too big.

@camelinastorm no havnt had any scans yet my 1st one is Friday morning 😁 I think I'm actually starting cetrotide tomorrow I must double check, how about you? That's to stop you ovulating is it?
It's funny I've been sleeping like a baby since starting the stims I noticed that in the last ivf cycle aswell it's like it balances out my hormones or something because usually I'm crippled with insomnia and anxiety 😂 do you feel any different?
@BakinABaby i know I wanted 2 kids before I turned 30 now that I'm struggling with the second we have decided we would love 2 more! At least one positive thing about a age gap is at least your old child might help you out 😏 big sister duties

@Cloclo93 yes they are them ones, I'm concerned I should start tomorrow also but on my notes it says Friday so scary all this as don't want it too late but also don't want it to early my scan isn't until Saturday 😬😬

So great to hear from people in the same boat, even thought we've all had such different journeys to get here. So sorry to hear of failed round and miscarriages. 💔

I had my EC yesterday, they got 11 mature eggs. Waiting for a call from the embryology team this morning to say how many fertilised overnight. Dreading the call but trying to stay positive and hopeful. I coped well during stims as I was in control of everything, really struggling now everything is out of my control again!

Hope you're all doing ok and best of luck to those with their ECs soon. I found it much easier than I thought I would, no pain or cramping today. The worst bit is a sore throat from the sedation.

@Lcm11 wow ! Well done you !! Fingers crossed you will have sone good /healthy embryos to transfer !! Keep us updated ! I am hoping EC will be next Friday all going well .. I took 10 days last cycle to be ready so hopefully will be simular this time 🤞🏽

Ah that's exciting, not long now. How are you feeling during stims? Have you had your first scan?

@Lcm11 I have my 1st scan on Monday .. ! Wow that’s good 9 fertilised .. I think that’s expected that a small percentage don’t fertilise.. so you are on track .. will you get a fresh transfer with a 5 day blast ? Won’t be long and you will be getting your transfer 😁🤞🏽

I'm having to do a freeze all cycle as I am at risk of OHSS due to PCOS and I had a lot of follicles during stims (30+) but I guess they didn't all produce eggs as they retrieved 11. So really does show it's quality not quantity.

We also didn't have to use ICSI in the end as the sperm thawed better than expected. Hope that doesn't mean I will be kicked off this thread. 🤣

Hi all I'm 40 doing second round of ivf for secondary infertility. We are lucky to have 2 kids eldest is 14. First round we had 2 embryos and had double transfer - resulted in miscarriage.

We have just finished another stim round this time I've done loads of research and managed to get a tailored stim protocol to me. So far results have been good. Got 14 eggs and 12 fertilised. Just so scared of going through it all again x

I hope you don’t mind if I join. Currently on first cycle of IVF. Started down reg on 29th April and due to start stims tomorrow 17th May. Egg collection provisional date is 30th May. It really is a rollercoaster. Sorry to hear of all the loses and miscarriages experienced by many you, but it is nice to read messages from people going through this journey right now!

I have had a bit bleeding today .. slightly more than spotting, but not heavy .. has anyone had this while on stim injections? I am on day 4 of stims ? I called the nurse but she just said it shouldn’t be happening but not unheard of, not sure whether I should be worried or not ?

@hopefullsosbry I have a bit of bleeding still from the period I got after my down regulation shot and I am hoping the stim shots finally put a stop to them. It’s not a lot but it’s fresh and red, going on day 9. If it doesnt stop my midday I think I might call mu doctor just in case.

@BakinABaby ah ok.. what down regulation shot did you have ? I had a jag of Decapeptyl two weeks before starting the ovary stims.. I did bleed then (like a normal period) this is meant to happen , and was tailing off when i started stims (was only little brown when wiped that morning of starting stims .. sorry for TMI .. but it seems to have come back , she did say the jag of Decapapeptyl was new as it use to be a nasal spray before ? Hopefully the Decapeptyl is ok for using and we are not ‘Guinea pigs’ if you see what I mean .. hopefully it doesn’t turn out to be something that isn’t that good ? Am too old to be wasting time as she did say on phone might have to cancel this round and go with a diff month .. I just feel sh!t now as I feel this cycle will be over before it’s even started .. fed up and can’t find any info of anyone having a bleed anywhere on stims so I can see what their outcome was !
sorry for the rant .. 🥴 will just wait and see . Hopefully you feel ok and are not sore from the bleeding ?

@hopefullsosbry oh, that’s bad news, I’m so sorry. I hope if still works out and you can continue.
I had diphereline for down regulation. It seems the bleeding is drying up today so I hope that’s that.

Oh another thing, and I know this is an irrelevant complaint in the grand scheme of things, but since the diphereline shot my face has gone to sh*t, I'm breaking out all over and It's not serving :/

@BakinABaby oh no that’s rubbish .. I got a really big spot on my chin from the decapeptyl jag .. and have a few very small pimples from the ovaleap injections ! It’s really rubbish huh ! Just want this EC to happen this month so I don’t need to go through all this again ! Fed up with it now 🥴
