Icsi ivf may 2024

Hi ladies I thought I'd create this thread to support anyone doing ivf in May 2024, it's great to have other people to talk to going ture the same thing!
My background I'm 31 with low AMH of 3, suffering from secondary infertility 2.5 years ttc had a failed IVF cycle in February where my 4 mature eggs just failed to fertilized so we have been advised to do ICSI for our next cycle! I decided to give my body a break and get back into end of April/may depending on how my cycle returns:)

@hopefullsosbry yes I totally get you , I guess you could count it that way , I did as well at first but it got a bit confusing later so I switched to every day that passed instead as next day . I think it’s because some embryos are just expanding and some are already hatching so I guess the few hours difference doesn’t matter too much anyways because the results are going to be whatever they are going to be anyways . I think that’s why it’s better to just wait longer before testing in the first place so the hours difference won’t make a difference if you already 7days past trasfer as it should be positive no matter what the embryo looked like at the time of trasfer xx

It’s confusing huh?? It makes me wana cry all the stress and factors that come into this fertility game☹️ .. there’s just so many who ifs and what you should do then confilicting info that you shouldn’t do !! It’s such a head f¥€k for sure 😵‍💫😢have you contacted your clinc yet ? My OTD is still another 6 days away !!! It’s soooo long ! @camelinastorm did you get your beta yet? Hope you are ok ?

@Ilovebees I use one steps, which are 10miu. I knwo they get a bad rep but they have always heen truthful for me, never gotten a false positive and the one time I was pregnant I got a positive with them on 8dpo and I did opks that cycle + I actually always feel ovulation so I’m sure I did not count wrong. But this was my last one 😅 I ordered a fresh batch but shipping takes ages to these borderlands, I’m hoping they’re here wednesday.
Are you still holding out hope or making plans for next cycle? FET for you right?

@hopefullsosbry yes it’s a big head fuck , I can’t belive how upset I was few days ago about my negative and now I’m back to normal feeling positive 🤯 my period started today , which I’m happy about because I want to get rid of all the medicine and toxins from my body . My official date is Tuesday but I stopped meds on Friday. I still tested today to see if there could be a line but there was absolute nothing , blank white .
crazy how my mindset has changed only in couple of days , I guess Iv been through it before so it doesn’t affect me as much anymore . I just get on with life . I will contact my clinic on Tuesday as requested and I’ll just tell them my period started by itself before test day even while on progesterone . The weird thing is that I have had tiny tiny bit of brown spotting ever since the day after my trasfer and all the way until I stopped my meds , I wonder if I didn’t have enough progesterone support , 800mg cyclocest I was on . Once at night time . At first I thought it’s cervical irritation from trasfer but I don’t think so as it lasted all 9 days until I stopped meds and period came 2 days after stopping meds so pretty fast . Maybe my body wasn’t ready to accept the embryo in the first place ….. has bad feeling from the beginning with this trasfer due to spotting so didn’t think it would work .

yes FET for me next , I have to call my clinic on Tuesday about my negative and see what happens next after that .
you order the pregnancy tests online ? Do your shops not sell any sensitive tests in shops ? So you don’t have to order ?
I use easy@home and wondfo, they are brilliant . Xx also 10 sensitivity and so cheap too , wondfo is my fave xx

I’m just sooo glad I have 9 frozen embryos , at least something went right form this failed cycle 😊

@Ilovebees awh, as you say though at lest you have some frozen .. yeh I think it gets easier every time you have a loss , you seem to pick yourself up quicker each time ?do you think you will ask for more test etc ? Or have you had most that you can have ? Have you had partners sperm DNA checked ? I was thinking if this doesn’t work I’ll ask for a repeat of sticky blood , and I might see if I need a saline sonogram and the environment inside the womb to be checked ?? I think that’s the most frustrating for me is the not knowing why it isn’t working ?!

@Ilovebees they do 😂 but the good ones are like 8€ a piece and the other ones are like 2-4€ for one that’s basically the same as the internet cheapies. I’m a serial tester so it’s about economy for me 😀of course if I just have to poas and cannot live with myself otherwise I’ll buy something locally.

@hopefullsosbry hey ,I will not get any more testing done as I have had all , iv had hysteroscopy with camera all okay , iv had blood tests done - all fine - sperm testing is perfect no problems there . I think I just need the steroids , which I have now - just need an embryo to stick now to see if that’s what I needed xx I belive my issue is immune related , because I can get pregnant but my body rejects it at 6 weeks each time . So that’s why I’m a strong believer that steroids can help me . Lower the immune system and not attack the embryo anymore .

@BakinABaby oh okay ! I am also an early tester and it’s true you need a lot of cheap tests to test every day otherwise it’s going to be expensive . Good luck with testing and I pray for you that it’s going to be positive and that you’re tests come on Wednesday 😍do your shops sell first response too or don’t they have this exact brand ? X x

Hi, yes I tested yesterday and got a BFP !!! Can’t believe it .. after 5 losses and 2nd round on ivf I am still wary as know it can still come away etc,how are you ? Hope things are ok? Did you take next steps for a FET?

Hello @Ilovebees I started full on bleeding today and while yesterdays test showed promise, todays I’d consider negative or the barest of squinters at best. So off to another round of IVF for me, at some point.

@Ilovebees mm yeah, my period started bang at the same time I would normally expect it on a regular cycle. I was still taking progesterone, I already googled and it is not certain it will postpone your bleed, it might.

@BakinABaby aww I feel so sorry for both of us :( have you got any frozen embryos ? Are you thinking of FET next ? I rang my clinic and they said that we can go again once my period starts in one months time , not this bleed what I am having at the moment , but on the next one xx this period right now seems quite short and light , not too heavy at all , only lasted 3 days , and now it’s finished pretty much . normally my period is 5 days . I was expecting heavy period after egg collection and failed embryo trasfer .

@Ilovebees no frosties unfortunately 😕. I contacted my doc but haven’t heard back yet. I need a full cycle as no embryos.

Next cycle, that seems reasonable. Give your body a brief rest. I’m bleeding way heavier than my normal. I don’t think we’re doing any procedures this month, might just be busy iykwim 😜, I’ve heard for some couples with unexplaine infertility, IVF resets something and they get pregnany on next cycle. It’s not like we have anything better to do.

@BakinABaby and @Ilovebees so sorry for you both, mine was also negative, no frosties we are going again in August we said this time was our last ( we were due a new kitchen fitted, hubby says who needs a new kitchen let's go again, now it's the mission again to order medication that isn't needing a bank loan 🤣

@camelinastorm @BakinABaby I feel so sad that out of 4 of us , only @hopefullsosbry got the BFP. The odds are very bad if you think only 1 out of 4 got pregnant . :(
obviously so happy for hopefullsosbry , but so sad for us .
I hope all 3 of us get our positives next time around .
im sad to read both of you don’t have any Frosties left , which makes this even harder , like it isn’t hard already 😪
I luckily do have 9 frozen so I do understand I’m very fortunate in this way , as I know frozen cycles are pretty easy with no injections to take . Just patches and tablets . I do feel like frozen cycle has more success than fresh trasfer as body isn’t traumatised from the big ovary’s and body feels in a more natural state . Keep me updated girls when something new happens while we all wait for our new cycle . I’m invested to see how your egg transfer goes and all that interesting stuff , or just to rant on here :) are you guys thinking of fresh trasfer again after egg collection ? Or you wanting freeze all ?

@camelinastorm did I get it right that your was going to get a new kitchen but because your cycle failed , you using this money on new cycle instead and kitchen waits for another time 😁?

@Ilovebees yes the money for the new kitchen is being thrown into this, we will be doing fresh again,we will be transferring three (if we get 3) at the same time scary literally all our eggs (embryos) in one basket 🤣
Throughout this journey I have been on I am still shocked to this day how low the success rates are, in this day and age I do not understand how when it's places in the correct place it doesn't work. And the cost is just eye watering

I know am not out the woods yet .. had 5 positives with 5 losses, so I feel I can’t celebrate just yet🙄 .. still so many hurdles to go past .. ivf is such a rollercoaster road so 1 step at a time I guess and this time I have passed this corner .. still a few corners to pass .. wishing you all the best for your FET .. am sure it will come around in no time .. would be lovely to keep in touch on the chat as you say and see how we all get on 🤞🏽✨🩷🙏

I got an email back from my doctor and I have an appt booked for the 30th of July. If my cycles hold true that should be just a few days before the period from the next one and that leaves us two cycles to try on our own in between. Despite our shoddy record, I’m gonna eff the shh out of my husband and hope for the best, especially since we’ve been on the dry for about a month now given the IVF and progesterone gel gunk.

When’s your next FET @Ilovebees do you know already?

@BakinABaby yes at least the months don’t go to complete waste do they , at least you can still try in between which is good ! I know it’s probably going to not work anyways ( that’s why we do ivf 😁) but worth a shot isn’t it .
I don’t know my FET date yet , I think I’ll find this out once I ring back next month with the first day of period . But my guess is that it’s going to be around 11 weeks from now .
4 weeks until my next period
then I think 3 weeks into my next period and I start notethisterone tablets for a week ( so another 4 week there )
then wait for period again and trasfer 3 weeks into that cycle ( so 11 weeks all together )
I remember roughly from my last FET that it took about 11 weeks . So Neally 3 months from now . I find it goes pretty quick because you’re not waiting for something immediate . I think my FET will be end of August .
@BakinABaby whTs your appointment for ? Is it follow up consultation ? Or to start FET? Why is the wait time so long for you for your appoitment ? Mine is only 1 month and I can start from my next period .
