Angelselevenx · 28/02/2024 17:09

Struggling to find an active Letrozole thread. Recently been prescribed Letrozole as I have low progesterone and signs of ovulation not being as effective as it could be, albeit I still ovulate on my own.

Would love to hear success stories or chat to people who are going through TTC with letrozole now x

@Letrozolelastchance thank you for your reply.
I actually emailed my consultant last week for advice/discuss next steps - got an out of office until thur, hoping to hear something by the end of the week.

No I haven't tried myo inositol, sorry to sound naive but what is it? what does it do? Any recommendations of where to get some

It’s supposed to really help pcos as it helps with insulin resistance, cycle regularity , egg quality. I’ve tried various ones (inofolic, zita west and myova) I do think it regulated my cycles . It’s worth trying as can’t do any harm !

KLPark · 04/06/2024 21:00

Hello everyone, I hope it’s ok to join the thread, I’ve been trawling MN for weeks now, verging on obsessive 😂 going through all the old threads - so happy to see an active one and hoping to get some support on this nuts journey TTC

I am on my first cycle with Letrozole (currently 5DPO) I think, I don’t think I’ve ever ovulated
and I’ve never been pregnant,( I don’t think I’ve ever really tried tbh, or truly understood my body) I was diagnosed with PCOS in my early 20’s…have a higher BMI, no matter what I try…and oh - I’ve just turned 40 🤦🏼‍♀️ not sure of my chances are but I am giving it my best shot 🙏🏼 I’ve had dull achey cramps for a few days now, similar (but not as bad) as the ones you get before AF but AF not due until a couple of weeks. Has anyone had any experience of these symptoms? Could it just be early period with letrozole 🤷🏼‍♀️
Hope this is an active little thread so I can start to speak to people going through similar 🫶🏼

@susie1984234 Congrats lovely, that's fantasitc news! Hope the next few weeks go smoothly.

@hopeanddreams Have you ever seen a fertility nutritionist? I've heard really good things about them taking a good look at your bloodwork etc and prescribing certain supplements that help with PCOS. Check out "wellnessbyjessica" on Instagram for example.

@KLPark Welcome! It's a great wee community. How long have you been TTC for?

KLPark · 04/06/2024 22:57

Hey @dancingfairy1 thanks so much 🥰 Long story short, I’ve never really use contraception, yet never been truly focused on TTC, tracking ovulation etc. I guess I always knew I’d need intervention, just didn’t think it would ever be this late on in life. This is only my first medicated cycle though. I’m at the clinic tomorrow to get a blood test to check progesterone to confirm ovulation, so we will see 🤞🏼

How’s things going with you? I’m trying to catch up on the thread but I’m a bit lost as to where everyone is at. I am sure I’ll catch up. Going to check out the Instagram page too. I’ve been doing fertility acupuncture and they have an in -house nutritionist that everyone speaks really highly of, given my situation and willing to throw anything at it 😂

Thank you so much, i'll look into this and place an order. Desperate to try anything which can help balance my cycles.

@dancingfairy1 I haven't seen a nutritionist - just had a look on instagram and is definitely something I will make contact about, thanks.

Still heard nothing from consultant - it's been a 2 year battle so far, constantly chasing and doing my own research to push them in the right directions!

KLPark · 05/06/2024 16:35

Does anyone on here monitor progesterone? I've had my bloods done today and clinic have confirmed ovulation...with progesterone at 61, I think that's quite high, hoping it's a positive sign, there's lots of stuff online about it could potential be first signs of pregnancy, but I am getting waaaaaay ahead of myself even thinking that, wondered if anyone had any experiences with progesterone levels?

Daniki · 05/06/2024 17:21

@KLPark that's a great Level,
It should be over 30 really to confirm you've ovulated but clinics like it to be higher than that especially if you're on medicated cycles!

KLPark · 05/06/2024 17:36

Oh thanks @Daniki that's good to know! Fingers crossed it's a good sign of things to come.
How's your journey going? x

Daniki · 05/06/2024 18:38

@KLPark not great, 3rd trigger cycle no joy! Had a consultation about moving to ivf so trying to get all my investigations together for the consultant and will go from there! X

Letrozolelastchance · 05/06/2024 18:43

I’ve had my progesterone measured in the past in natural cycles and it seemed to show that I ovulated sometimes and not other months . This cycle I have been given progesterone supplements from a few days after trigger injection so not having a blood test. Just hoping it helps !

One thing that’s been so weird is no EWCM at all in my Letrozole cycles. I was getting 7-10 days of it usually (which is too many and I think maybe a sign my hormone levels were off as my lining was always too thick as well too) but it makes me anxious to have NO ewcm at all !!!

KLPark · 05/06/2024 19:58

Ah it's so frustrating isn't it @Daniki, I've had three lots of friends over the past couple of years that have all struggled TTC for various reasons, and IVF has worked for them all, one of them was told to give up as she had zero chance, but she ended up with two beautiful twins, everyone has their own journey don't they and just proves sometimes we've just got to push through.

@Letrozolelastchance hey there, I found the same issue with CM on Letrozole!! I had heard it can make you a little dry (sorry if that sounds a little tmi) so I sort of expected it. I went for a day 10 ultrasound scan to check for ovulation, I said to the nurse I didn't think I was going to ovulate as I didn't have any CM and she said it was common, and then saw that I had a 22cm folical and was just about to ovulate!
Are you still on Letrozole? How many cycles have you done so far? x

This is my second cycle. I’ve had 2.5mg for both . Last month I had 2 follicles (one each side) had a trigger injection on day 10, same this month (but both on one side) I’m 5dpo I think today. I didn’t have progesterone last month though.
i tested my trigger out last time and it took 13 days to fully clear from my system

KLPark · 05/06/2024 20:34

@Letrozolelastchance yeah I had 2.5mg too, I always get confused with the tigger injection, when do they give that? I honestly cannot believe at the age of 40 how little I knew about my cycle and my body in general 🤷🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️

Letrozolelastchance · 05/06/2024 20:57

@KLPark they did the trigger each time I had follicles at about 20mm I think it just means it ensures ovulation about 24-36 hours later so you can really time intercourse precisely , last month my ovulation wasn’t confirmed by scan this month I had a scan 5 days after trigger and it showed both follicles had ovulated and I was started on progesterone that evening. Really hoping it works this month 🤞

KLPark · 05/06/2024 21:13

@Letrozolelastchance clinic told me to start testing on 17th...not sure I have that level of patience! 🤭 fingers crossed for a lucky month all round 🤞🏼

Frankie2607 · 06/06/2024 09:32

Hi all - triggered two weeks ago today, so guessing around 11/12DPO due to the time of day I triggered. Did a test this morning and negative… of course 😞 Yet a part of my stupid brain is like “maybe you’re just taking longer to implant” 🤦🏻‍♀️ Eurgh!!

hows everyone else getting on?

harrietm87 · 06/06/2024 10:13

So had my first scan today and was a little disappointing- I had one good sized follicle 21.7mm - and one other of c.15mm which I think will likely be too small.

I had the trigger today and told to dtd tonight, tomorrow (optional) and Saturday - which is more than they told me previously!

Im not holding out much hope for this cycle but I did conceive my DS with one follicle so fingers crossed.

Has anyone triggered with a 15mm follicle? Any idea whether that one is in the running at all?

dancingfairy1 · 12/06/2024 23:17

@Frankie2607 Sorry! How many more rounds of letrozole will you try?

@harrietm87 Sorry I didn't have an answer to your question but how did you go?

Update, BFN but weirdly it didn't get me down like it has previous months - I think I knew deep down I wasn't pregnant yet and we were on holiday having a great time with my toddler and her grandparents so it helped. Next appointment with the fertility clinic isn't till late August so got a few months to try before then - I think I'll have a break from Letrozole and just focus on a quieter few months incase we have to go down invasive tests and procedures after then. I'm looking forward to it tbh! Might be a bit quieter on here while not on letrozole but I'd still like to hear updates!

BUT does anyone have tips on how not to stress about age gaps?

harrietm87 · 13/06/2024 06:58

Thanks @dancingfairy1 - I’m 6dpo assuming I ovulated on Friday night (36 hrs after trigger at 10am on Thursday). No symptoms at all but it’s obviously too early, and I’m not holding out much hope for this cycle as only had one good follicle. Obviously I know that one is all it takes but I’m 37 so suspect quality is not what it was!

Glad you had a lovely holiday! What age is your toddler? My DC’s are 6 and 3.5 so will be looking at 7 and 4.5 gap at best. I think there are pros and cons to all gaps.

Angelselevenx · 14/06/2024 20:18

Very much on and off this thread.

I'm CD9/10 of cycle 4 of letrozole. Had my hycosy yesterday and trying to take a bit of a step back from TTC as we have a couple of holidays coming up. Feeling so deflated recently, cycle 17 of TTC and cycle 15 after our loss 😢

Another cycle failed for us . Getting so fed up now. Will keep trying of course but just so frustrated

Angelselevenx · 16/06/2024 21:36

@Letrozolelastchance what cycle of Letrozole are you on now? Sending love

It was my second cycle, everything looked perfect and I had 2 follicles again plus had ovulation confirmed by scan. Having a month off as just feeling so depressed about it all now

harrietm87 · 17/06/2024 09:31

I’m so sorry @Letrozolelastchance - it is really frustrating. How old are you?

I think it’s honestly just a numbers game. Some eggs won’t be viable but some will and you will get there.

Im testing tomorrow at 10dpo but have had no symptoms at all, not even from the progesterone Im taking! I usually feel implantation so I’m pretty convinced I’m out this month and just want to move on to the next cycle.
