Struggling to find an active Letrozole thread. Recently been prescribed Letrozole as I have low progesterone and signs of ovulation not being as effective as it could be, albeit I still ovulate on my own.

Would love to hear success stories or chat to people who are going through TTC with letrozole now x

@harrietm87 i don't have PCOS either but found that letrozole also made me ovulate a bit earlier than normal, CD11 instead of normal 14/15.
I'm feeling a bit PMTish today so trying not to get my hopes up!
It's great to hear some positive stories on here :)

Hi all! I was on letrozole and then triggered on day 15, ovulated day 16. I’m now on day 23, so got just under a week before I can test. Trying not to get my hopes up as this is our first medicated cycle…. But still!!! We had four dominant eggs when I went for a scan 😳 the warning of twins was said frequently haha.

Doesn’t help that the oestrogen tablets I’m on are giving me pregnancy symptoms- nausea, super tired, food aversions. It’s a minefield isn’t it!

wishing everyone the best of luck ♥️

dancingfairy1 · 01/06/2024 08:23

@Daniki I may see something on the bottom one but I can’t confirm for sure… have you tested again?

@harrietm87 Wow, that’s amazing. I’m on cycle 6 of letrozole but only cycle 4 of ‘trying’ on the right dates. I already ovulate but wasn’t having a lot of luck so hoping letrozole is giving us extra chances,
Can I ask what days (if you remember) having sex for your successful cycles?

Update at my end… I ovulated EARLIER than I expected! It was such a shock and I’m so lucky I tested on the opk that day because I wasn’t planning on starting the opks till the next day! We tried home insemination since hubby is injured at the moment. And it was so easy! Way less stressful than actually having sex over and over lol. Anyway I think I’m O+3 then we head away for a break next week so I won’t be testing till 10dpo.

If this cycle isn’t successful, back to the fertility doc we go since we have to have a review appointment after six cycles of letrozole. It’s all out of pocket so I have no idea what we’ll chose to do. However I’m optimistic and I really believe we can do it. It’s just frustrating seeing the age gaps widen. I saw another pregnancy announcement today from one of the mum’s from my DD”s baby group today. It sucks and I feel like it’s an attack on me.

Nice to read/virtually meet more people on here - hi to you!

Daniki · 01/06/2024 08:31

@dancingfairy1 yea they have all came back like vvvvvvvvvvvfl/basically negative, 13 days past trigger today so I am out! 😩 I had a consultation yesterday with a new clinic so looks like next step is IVF. Its hard to fathom how we're here, we have one son & have conceived naturally 4 times 😣

dancingfairy1 · 01/06/2024 08:47

@Daniki I’m sorry to hear, it’s heartbreaking and yet difficult because we are so lucky to have our one DC but it’s wanting to give them a sibling so badly!
Do you think you would try IUI first or just go straight to IVF? I hear for some people once the decision is made to go to IVF, it lessens some of the stress because you have a team working with you to get you pregnant and it’s not all just on you.
Do you get any funding for it or is it self-funded? (I’m in Aus so not sure what the process is like in the UK)

harrietm87 · 01/06/2024 11:43

@dancingfairy1 my doctor tells us to dtd only twice, which is what I did both times I conceived. I think it is the day after the trigger shot and then the next day - will confirm next week after my scan as the last time was over 4 years ago!

Daniki · 01/06/2024 12:46

@dancingfairy1 I'm actually in Ireland so it will be self funded 😣 we don't qualify for funding as we already have a son together! We were thinking of IUI, the consultant said once I have the ultrasound to check uterus etc and he goes over all our investigations so far he will have a better picture of what's more suitable. My husband just can't understand how it's not working at all, it's so frustrating and puts so much pressure on couples!

My nurse said last time to try from 2 days after trigger for 3 days in a row and this time the dr said from the day after trigger for FOUR days in a row then a scan to see if I did def ovulate

Letrozolelastchance · 01/06/2024 13:06

I’m not even sure what they look for on a scan to be able to tell if ovulation happened?

It might be 2 days after the trigger…I will check. But it’s definitely only twice and worked for me with both my kids. I’m sure more goes can’t hurt though!

It’s just a lot 😂😂😂

dancingfairy1 · 03/06/2024 18:54

That sounds reasonable! I’m guessing that’s O-1 and O?

We tried for a year for our first and I remember being stressed about trying to hit multiple days before O because of “having sperm there ready” but the month that we were finally successful with we only BD the day of positive opk and day after.. It was the month before we were meant to start letrozole. So I’ve been aiming for the same days this time round too, since maybe doing it closer to O is the trick for us.

Im 14 days post trigger today, just tested and there's a definite line. Will ask for bloods today confirm - will ask for bloods to confirm. Definitely thought I was out as I've been really irritable which is my number one pms sign

That’s brilliant ! What dose trigger did you have ? Last time I had 5000 and it was still there faintly on day 12 I think this time I won’t test till 14 days post trigger

harrietm87 · 04/06/2024 09:04

Congratulations @susie1984234! What cycle is this for you?

Ive got my scan on Thursday - interested to know what’s going on in there!

susie1984234 · 04/06/2024 10:21

@Letrozolelastchance I triggered with Ovitrelle 250mg. I'm hoping at 14DPT it's out of the system and the line is just me. Heading for bloods now so I'm thinking lots of positive thoughts! I didn't test out my trigger and made myself wait until today before I did my first test!

Thanks 🥰 I'm cautiously optimistic. It's the first Letrozole cycle and I've been TTC for over a year, turning 40 in September so haven't been holding my breath tbh!

harrietm87 · 04/06/2024 10:31

That is so great @susie1984234!

Id be surprised if there was anything left of the trigger by 14dpo. On my regime I have to test at 10dpo (as need to stop my meds if not pregnant) and the trigger was always gone by then.

Daniki · 04/06/2024 11:57

@susie1984234 I would say it's you and not the trigger as 14 days is usually the testing date!

Letrozolelastchance · 04/06/2024 12:01

By 14 days I’m sure the trigger would have been gone so fingers crossed !

I had read that the 5000 dose is gone by 10 days so I was frustrated that mine took longer and that cycle didn’t work anyway

susie1984234 · 04/06/2024 14:35

My blood results were positive ladies. Taking it nice and easy for the next weeks and hoping it sticks :)

hopeanddreams · 04/06/2024 15:55

Hi everyone, hoping it's ok to join - i'm tearing my hair out at the moment.

Been on letrozole for pcos as I don't ovulate. 2.5mg and 5.0mg I didn't respond. I confirmed ovulation on 7.5mg CD20 but didn't catch. 4th cycle 7.5mg again I didn't respond so they put me on max dose of 10mg for cycle 5 - I'm now on CD42, no positive and no sign of AF.

Anyone else had issues like this? I'm on the NHS and haven't had trigger mentioned, would it help in my case?

I would say if you’re not responding then a trigger wouldn’t be advised as it’s used when dominant follicles reach a certain size. Has your dr mentioned trying anything else such as FSH injections?

Letrozolelastchance · 04/06/2024 17:09

Also @hopeanddreams have you tried myo inositol ? It’s meant to be really good for pcos

hopeanddreams · 04/06/2024 17:17

@Letrozolelastchance thank you for your reply.
I actually emailed my consultant last week for advice/discuss next steps - got an out of office until thur, hoping to hear something by the end of the week.

No I haven't tried myo inositol, sorry to sound naive but what is it? what does it do? Any recommendations of where to get some
