Struggling to find an active Letrozole thread. Recently been prescribed Letrozole as I have low progesterone and signs of ovulation not being as effective as it could be, albeit I still ovulate on my own.

Would love to hear success stories or chat to people who are going through TTC with letrozole now x

@worldwidetravel2017 not on metformin, the doc has never mentioned it

Worth talking to gynae or fertility about

Staffyparent · 26/08/2024 19:15

Hi, I'm just wondering if anyone here has experience of moving to 5mg from 2.5mg after having no response to 2.5mg? Unfortunately, we learnt I'd had no response to 2.5mg, we were devastated, despite reading that it can take a few cycles before success. I asked the nurse when I should take my tablets (2 x 2.5), when we eventually go again, and she said it didn't matter, and said I could either take both at the same time or one in the morning and one at night. For those also on 5mg, when did you take your tablets? Is there anything else you did to maximise your chance of success? I've been taking inositol for nearly a year. Thanks in advance.

Are you on metformin too ?
Do you have pcos ?

Angelselevenx · 26/08/2024 22:21

I've just recently stopped metformin as I felt like it created PCOS for me! I have PCO and ovulate every month, usually CD20-23 without letrozole, been ovulating on CD16 on 5mg, been upped to 7.5mg and started metformin the same month, didn't ovulate until CD21! Stopped it and ovulated the next day

I was told when taking metformin to start it on cycle day 1

Angelselevenx · 27/08/2024 06:58

@worldwidetravel2017 yeah I started it a few days before cycle day 1, messed up my cycle massively

Hi lovely ladies I'm back here again. Got pregnant on my first round of Letrozole in May. Unfortunately it ended in MMC.
Took my first dose of cycle 2 today, last time I had terrible side effects on 2.5mg, I'm hoping it's easier this time around!

Those of you taking letrozole..

When in your fertility/ letrozole journey did you get your tubes flushed ?

I didn't get mine flushed. I'm nearly 40 and struggling to conceive for over a year, extremely low AMH at 0.23. Dr said to try Letrozole for 4 cycles first before moving to that stage as it can be an invasive procedure. Are you currently being treated with Letrozole?

Yes

This is my 3rd Letrozole cycle

The thing is , Letrozole is supposed to help ovulation and progsterone

I ovulate most cycles without it

And my progsterone has been tested and letrozole isnt helping that

I have pcos. Also ibs and cfs.

In pcos you often have low progsterone..

As i have miscarriage history - nice guidelines say that im to be offered progsterone next time im preg anyway..

Even my partner was there saying ' she doesn't need help ovulating '

Normally i always get ovulation discharge and ovulation boobs

Letrozole bought my ovulation fwd in the last 2 cycles..

This cycle ive taken pregncare 4 conception and its made everything awol - my body is still trying to ovulate and ovulation tests show this - but weirdly no ovulation discharge etc .

My friend is a month off 38 - she had low amh - shed had 5 private ivf - now theyve discovered shes celiac

I have good amh

Used to be high due to pcos

Im on metformin and myo inostol now

Sending you all the luck

Have you had your vit d tested? Do u take daily high vit d ? - that could help you

@worldwidetravel2017 I'm also in the situation where I do ovulate normally and routinely on my own without any problems.

I don't have PCOS so was a bit confused at first when I was offered Letrozole, but my Dr says it's more to improve the maturity of the egg produced and to be able to really pinpoint the ovulation by using a trigger shot.

And I fell pregnant on the first round of it (ended in mmc). My body seems to respond well to it although I do get terrible side effects.

Yes I've been taking vitamin D along with the rest of Cocktail of supplants 🤪

Are you taking progesterone suppositories from ovulation through your luteal phase?

I'm sorry you're having a hard time, this is a tough process and is really a head f**k at times. I'm wishing you all the luck ❤️

Thank you
Sending you all the luck too

@worldwidetravel2017 maybe ask for it next cycle. I take Letrozole cycle days 2-6, ultrasound on day 10 then if I have produced follicles then trigger shot followed by progesterone from ovulation until either I get my period or a positive test.
My progesterone has been up and down naturally, sometimes fine sometimes very low.
I do believe the progesterone helped me conceive last time although it did end in the MMC.
I would talk to your dr about getting some kind of progesterone supplementation if it's something you are low in anyway 🫶

Sorry to hear of your loss

Hope letrozole helps

Dya have pcos ?

LucyLou0527 · 03/09/2024 09:21

Hey thank you!

Not that I know of, I’ve never actually been tested for anything. I’ve sourced the Letro myself as my hubby is finally back on board with wanting a baby after loss so I’m wanting to kick start ovulation after being on the pill for a few months. He’s also on TRT which can reduce sperm count slightly so just wanting us to have the best chance we can x

Is he taking wellman max ?

worldwidetravel2017 · 03/09/2024 12:29

If theres any chance u may have pcos - good to be tested as metformin and myo inostol can help

Dya have heavy periods since off pill or before pill ?
Unwanted hair ?
Sugar cravings ?

LucyLou0527 · 03/09/2024 19:03

He isn’t taking wellman however he does take pretty much everything in it plus clomid to maintain his fertility whilst taking testosterone. My first period after the pill was horrific however the most recent period was only 2-3 days and then maybe 1 day of spotting and fairly light too. Too be honest I thought I was pregnancy as I did get a faint positive on some mommed strips however they are completely gone now so it was either a chemical or evap lines🙃

Yep ive had side effects on it

susie1984234 · 07/09/2024 08:36

@worldwidetravel2017 what side effects do you get?
On my first cycle I had a lot of headaches/nausea but this time it's even worse with hot flushes, stomach cramps and going to the loo constantly. And generally just feel spaced out. Could just lie in bed all day if I could :(
I hope you're feeling ok!

Headaches
Nausea
Body aches
Hot flushes

On the days i toook it - i took it at 3pm - so a chunk of work day was done

This was my 3rd cycle taking it and this cycle hasnt worked
( haven't ovulated properly yet)

The only thing id changed with comparison with other letrozole cycles was taking pregncare for conception for the month of August

susie1984234 · 07/09/2024 09:31

@worldwidetravel2017 the first cycle I took it in the morning and this time o thought I'd try it at bedtime to see if it helped but somehow it's worse.

I'm sorry to hear you didn't ovulate this cycle, I can't imagine that the Pregnacare would have had an effect but who knows. Are you taking other supplements?
