Struggling to find an active Letrozole thread. Recently been prescribed Letrozole as I have low progesterone and signs of ovulation not being as effective as it could be, albeit I still ovulate on my own.

Would love to hear success stories or chat to people who are going through TTC with letrozole now x

On round 5 of letrozole, had my fertility consultant review last week and he's asked for me to up letrozole to 7.5mg and has prescribed me with metformin.

He also said if no luck by end of year, we will have our IVF go ahead early January 🥳

Hey everyone. I’ve been waiting to do my first letrozole cycle since April. Had to be prescribed provera to bring on a bleed in the end as had a huge cyst on my ovary so my hormones were all off.

No response to 5mg of Letrozole unfortunately and the nurse said a doctor would call me next week to discuss. Has anyone not responded to this dose, but responded to a higher dose? Xx

When you say ' no response -.

Does no response mean it didnt bring fwd ovulation ?

Or no response folicle wise?

I think it must vary from clinic to clinic
I was offered monitoring which I found really helpful
i was told if I responded but didn’t fall pregnant that I would then continue on the same dose but unmonitored

Sorry 4 being dim..
But i wonder what they are deeming as ' responded ' ....

Im on it as have pcos.
Some awol cycles but generally quite regular..
And usually / used to ovulate naturally

We have miscarriage history - naturally - prior to any help

For us it meant ovulating with atleast 1 but no more than 2 eggs would have shown I ‘responded’

i actually produced 4 eggs and was told to cancel the cycle due to the risk of multiples and that my dose would be lowered and I would be monitored again.
to be completely honest we ignored this and decided to take the risk and this was the cycle I conceived with 1 baby, currently 17 weeks

i also have pcos and fairly regular cycles and also a history of miscarriage so letrozole seemed to give me the push my body must have needed, I feel extremely lucky

I honestly found the monitoring so helpful and it helped me relax as I felt I actually knew what was happening in my body for a change, I wonder if it’s something you could request? If they didn’t offer it

worldwidetravel2017 · 28/07/2024 20:41

We have an appt in a few days
But its a ' follow up ' - so brief appt..
I have a list of qs

Apparently person we are seeing works NHS and private.
Feel like i may need to ask if i can book an additional appt - mix up private n nhs

Conception hopes / dreams after loss is so hard

Congrats on your pregnancy :)

Purplemichelle · 28/07/2024 20:41

@worldwidetravel2017 the clinic have said no response as only one follicle on day 10 which was less than 5mm, also my lining is very thin. I’m paying privately so they monitor you for the first cycle and if no response, I’m guessing they up the dosage of letrozole but not sure at this stage.

Congratulations @Crazyhope amazing news!!

worldwidetravel2017 · 28/07/2024 20:43

My friend had higher letrozole than me
And it helped her progsterone more

Medical secretary told me letrozole is supposed to help progsterone

But my progsterone numbers are as they were months ago - without letrozole then

Hi, can I ask what does of letrozole you were on? I'm due to start on 2.5mg as soon as my period starts (I'm currently taking Provera). I'm really hoping for a positive response to the 2.5mg and they don't need to up the dose. I have not had a good experience with my fertility clinic. Thanks!

worldwidetravel2017 · 31/07/2024 14:26

Fertility appt for us this week

2nd cycle of letrozole atm

Of course!
we initially went to a private clinic while waiting for our NHS appointment
we did 2 rounds of 2.5mg letrozole unmonitored and then we had our NHS appointment and they started me on 5mg with monitoring and that was the one that worked

but I did get really strong OPK’s on the 2.5mg rounds which had never happened before so I do think it was having a positive effect even though we weren’t successful on those cycles xx

Hi,

Just started my letrozole journey this month. 2.5mg from CD2 - CD6. I'm now on CD8 and started testing my LH this afternoon. Confused though as this looks like a peak test, do you think? It seems very early. I would have expected peak to be around CD14. Has this happened anyone else? We haven't started DTD yet this month as my period only just stopped properly on CD6. So I guess we should start tonight. Have I missed majority of my fertile window?

When you took it day 2

My clinic told me to only count the days from the full bleed days

Thanks for replying. Yes 2nd day of full bleeding, I usually take it in the evening. My period usually starts off quite light and gradually gets heavier, but this month it actually started quite heavy so I know for sure CD2 was the 2nd day of full bleeding.

Concerned this is just too early so perhaps I'm not reacting to the letrozole properly, as my doctor had said ovulation would be 2 weeks into my cycle.

I have PCOS, so irregular (long) cycles. Trying letrozole as doctor believes I'm not ovulating myself every month and to try and regulate my cycles

Thank you! That's interesting, we were told we had to have the first cycle monitored in case of ovarian hyperstimulation. We also went private as we were told it would be a 40 week wait with the NHS. Did you have any side effects on letrozole? What day was your monitored scan? In the information leaflet they gave me, it says it has to be on Day 8, but they have told me to book in on Day 10. We're on strict instruction not to TTC before the Day 10 scan!
