Hello,

I am very much a newbie to this (first post), I am 34F in a same-sex relationship and we did our first unmedicated IUI last week (now 4dpo).

Is anyone else currently in the TTW and would like to chat?

I honestly didn't realise how slowly time would go, feels like these 4 days have taken forever.

How is everyone feeling today?

All good here 7DPO. Been and bought a couple of cheapy early response tests - probably going to test tomorrow and 10DPO.

Feeling a bit stressy now about what if I'm not. I know I'm only on the first cycle, but it's taken me 4.5 years to be brave enough to try for another after my DD, owing to PND. I'm scared I'll change my mind.

PrincessPrawn · 06/10/2023 11:55

Clinging on here too @kat167 !

Im a bit twitchy today as I'm 9DPO and that’s when I got my first squinter with my DD…but still nada on the cheapie I did this morning. I know it means literally nothing as it’s all chance, but still can’t help myself!

kat167 · 06/10/2023 12:35

@PrincessPrawn oh, hang in there! Fingers crossed for you..
I got a very very very vfl this morning on Clear Blue. It's 5 days before my expected period so I'm finally in the window, but it's still early. Couldn't hold out though and did a digital this afternoon.. of course it was negative. Don't know why I bothered.

@fr4zzledmum ah, that sounds tough! I think it's totally natural to be worried though and do have conflicting feelings.

I feel like my emotions are all over the place. I'd been wanting to start trying for a while now, but we were changing jobs and moving and buying a flat and renovating the flat. Things have finally settled down and DH agreed to plan a vacation for after the new year and start trying then... and then this month we were just not careful. Im trying to keep my expectations in check and tell myself most people don't get pregnant on their first cycle and things will be fine either way. But I also just would really like a positive.

Muddysocks1 · 06/10/2023 12:36

@SnookyPook oh that’s interesting to know!! Another negative 11dpo so I’m almost certain my period will be along shortly!

kat167 · 06/10/2023 12:40

@SnookyPook it's amazing the things animals know! I've heard other people say the same thing about dogs around pregnancy. And they can smell certain illnesses. Could be a sign!

fr4zzledmum · 06/10/2023 13:02

@SnookyPook funnily enough, my MIL's dog was obsessed with me in the run up to my missed period when I was pregnant with DD.

Muddysocks1 · 06/10/2023 13:04

@kat167 thats exciting! Hope it works out! would this be your first child?
Me and my partner as a bit behind really, wanting to buy somewhere next year, so this would be unexpected and ahead of schedule. But I already feel sad that it could have happened now even if maybe not the right time! I know I shouldn’t say that before period has actually started but I’m pretty certain. It’s going to spark some conversations about the future and timelines though I think!

kat167 · 06/10/2023 13:17

@Muddysocks1 That's a totally understandable feeling! And conversations about timelines are always good. It's hard because at the end of the day it's an emotional decision even if you have to try to be rational about it. I've definitely had some tearful conversations about timeline where I was like, "Yeah, what you're saying makes sense but it doesn't change how I feel AT ALL." lol

Yeah, it would be my first. I'm only 28 so I've definitely got time, but I do already kind of have a clock ticking in my head if I'm honest.

Muddysocks1 · 06/10/2023 13:43

@kat167 ah yes I definitely feel that too! For me it feels totally rational, I’m nearly 32 and I know that’s not really “old” but I just don’t know how much time I have so it feels really urgent! I’ve definitely been thinking about it for a good few years but the last year I’ve been thinking about it every day. Always feels like there’s some barrier (like just need to buy a house first) etc but then I keep reading people saying there’s no ideal time really and there will always be something!

AnnieStar12 · 06/10/2023 21:40

AF arrived this afternoon like 4/5 days early. So that's me out this month.
Good luck to the rest of you.

fr4zzledmum · 07/10/2023 08:07

@Muddysocks1 @kat167 I agree with you both - I'm 31 and feel like that's a massive factor against me this time, and I'm not even old. I was 25 when I fell pregnant with my DD.

fr4zzledmum · 07/10/2023 08:08

@AnnieStar12 sorry to hear that - hopefully you'll strike lucky next month.

kat167 · 07/10/2023 08:16

@Muddysocks1 I agree that there's no perfect time. I've heard people say if you feel 80% ready then that's really good because it's normal to be scared about taking on anything so major.

@fr4zzledmum 31 is still really young though

fr4zzledmum · 07/10/2023 08:21

@katkat167 my body feels about 55 😂

Muddysocks1 · 07/10/2023 08:31

Randomly I’m sure I noticed my Montgomery tubercles (didn’t know they were called this until googling last night!) seem more prominent. Has anyone had this? My temp also jumped up this morning, higher than I usually go after ovulation. my partner did say I was very hot this morning, and I did have some wine last night so perhaps that, but all a bit odd.

kat167 · 07/10/2023 08:32

@fr4zzledmum Haha, I know what you mean but more so my mind. For various reasons, I've always been younger than my peers (ahead in school, started professional life really early, married someone whose siblings are all 10+ years older)

kat167 · 07/10/2023 08:51

@Muddysocks1 I had to look those up, too! I can't say I had noticed on myself, although once you mentioned I looked at myself and said hmm, maybe.

My boobs do seem to have gotten bigger. I'm normally 89cm round. Yesterday I was at 93cm and this morning I measured again (because I'm crazy, apparently) and I'm at 94cm. I suppose it could also be PMS, I often feel like my boobs seem bigger before a period but I don't generally measure to check.

I did another CB early detection this morning and it was definitely not positive. I don't know if it was faulty because it had a horizontal smudge across it or if maybe my pee was more diluted this morning (it seemed so) or if yesterdays vfl was just a fluke. It's a bummer because now I'm confused. DH is traveling all next week and I was hoping if there was something to tell him I could tell him today so that we'd have the weekend to enjoy it. Now, he'll be gone when AF is due :/

fr4zzledmum · 07/10/2023 09:03

@Muddysocks1 I didn't know they had a name! Mine are always pretty prominent tbh, so don't think it's a good measure for me.

I took a cheapy early detection test yesterday but it wasn't with FMU and was negative. I'm only 8DPO today, but likely will test again tomorrow. I've got three tests left and I've told myself I won't be buying anymore haha. I haven't told DH I'm testing this early.

Muddysocks1 · 07/10/2023 09:19

@Muddysocks1 @fr4zzledmum apparently they can also be more prominent for other reasons so maybe I just haven’t noticed them before 😂

Twomumfamily · 07/10/2023 09:29

Hi Everyone :) Ah @AnnieStar12 hopefully next month will be your month!

I’ve been having the weirdest symptoms! On 7dpo I had really bad stomach pain, like period pain but slightly lower, I also felt like I was beginning to get a UTI.

8dpo - Tummy pain gone but I felt really dizzy and had a metallic taste in my mouth and was so tired. Then I was up and down all night needing to pee (which isn’t like me).

I am 9dpo and did a FRER test this morning and BFN - now I don’t know if it was all in my head - I guess it could be PMS but so strange!

I don’t know whether to test again tomorrow or wait a few days now…

fr4zzledmum · 07/10/2023 10:13

@Twomumfamily that's the difficult thing isn't it- early pregnancy and PMS symptoms are often one and the same! I'm not quite sure if I feel these symptoms every months but I'm just not hyper aware of them.

I do remember with my DD that I used to have a constant horrible taste in my mouth and smells would send me under.

Twomumfamily · 07/10/2023 10:20

@fr4zzledmum thats it isn’t it! I’ve been having PMS for over 20 years but now it’s like I can’t remember what I usually have!

That is interesting you had a horrible taste in your mouth with your DD - may be hope still.

My DW keeps telling me to just not think about it - so much easier said than done!

Fingers crossed for your test tomorrow!

AnnieStar12 · 07/10/2023 10:57

@Twomumfamily good luck with your next test! I just let myself test everyday as it gets near the end of the cycle otherwise I spend so much time just thinking about when to test. It’s one less thing to think / stress about!

I read a really useful article the other day that was basically saying all the little things we look out - for the twinges etc are really unlikely to be signs of anything at all as the fertilisation and implantation of an egg is so microscopic that it’s probably impossible to feel.

There’s been many months I have convinced myself I’ve felt implantation and then my period comes. But obviously if I were pregnant on any of those months then I’d then have reported that’s what they were, haha!

Bex4567 · 07/10/2023 18:46

Hi so I've been having the spotting since Thursday and stillno full blown period .did a test Friday when 12po but negative could I still pregnant

fr4zzledmum · 07/10/2023 19:43

@AnnieStar12 its a good point, everyone always talks about implantation but I think it's probably quite rare to actually feel it.

I had a little scroll back on my app and found I did my first pregnancy test with my DD only a couple of days before my period was due, so I'm going to keep that in mind as I go along. Can't believe how I'm letting g myself get so worked up this time round.
