Anyone else in the TTW and like some company

Hello,

I am very much a newbie to this (first post), I am 34F in a same-sex relationship and we did our first unmedicated IUI last week (now 4dpo).

Is anyone else currently in the TTW and would like to chat?

I honestly didn't realise how slowly time would go, feels like these 4 days have taken forever.

Hiya! Yep I could use some company. Currently 5dpo I believe. Have had a bit of a tough year with a MMC in April and a CP last month. Just really hoping our rainbow is on its way soon!

I'm 37 and have a 2 1/2 year old son already.

How did you find the IUI process? Timing that always sounds like it must be a bit stressful.

Twomumfamily · 02/10/2023 10:51

@SnookyPook Hello, thank you for replying! Oh gosh I am so sorry to hear about your MMC and CP that is tough sending baby dust your way.

The IUI was quite painful actually which I wasn't expecting, took about half an hour to get the catheter in so was worried they wouldn't be able to go ahead - fortunately, it worked in the end. Yes, it's hard to know tbh, especially as frozen sperm doesn't last as long but I think the timing was okay.

How long have you been trying for (if you don't mind me asking)?

Awh 2 1/2 is a very cute age (my nephew is 3), did you have any symptoms at all with your first pregnancy?

SnookyPook · 02/10/2023 11:12

@Twomumfamily oh that doesn't sound much fun - hopefully all will be forgiven if it gets the desired result though!

Ah thank you, yeah it's been a bit of a tough year. I actually came off the pill in Jan 2022 but my periods didn't return until November 2022. I then started with opks straight away and was lucky to conceive on the third cycle. Unfortunately that was the MMC and then the 4th cycle after that loss was the CP. So it's never taken too long to conceive but unfortunately they've not been sticking. Really hoping it's not my age and that I still have some good eggs in there!

Yes, my DS is the light of my life and I'm so lucky to have him. It's been a massive help having him as I've navigated this year. It is a particularly endearing age too!

Yes, in the tww with my first I had a few symptoms - mostly from 8dpo. I was spottier, noticeably gassy (both ends!), my breasts felt really heavy and tender and my appetite increased. However, the one that has definitively distinguished pregnancy from random pms etc has always been a noticeable increase of creamy white CM. With the two I lost I also had cramping around 8dpo. One of those I absolutely knew it was implantation, the CP less so but still noted cramps around that time that I don't usually get.

So, I do feel like if I don't notice CM changes or any cramping etc in the next 3-4 days I'll probably be out!

Is this your first pregnancy attempt? Good luck to you! X

LozDo · 02/10/2023 11:20

Hi! 38.. 9dpo, trying not to symptom spot but I am struggling and tested 2 days in a row now BFN 🫣. It's a tough wait, I have cramps, mildly sore boobs, mild nausea yesterday, but nothing abnormal for me before period so I'm pretty sure I'm out this month. Crossing my fingers for you! 🤞🤞🤞

Twomumfamily · 02/10/2023 12:24

@SnookyPook That is really tough, must put such a strain on you mentally, I hope you are doing okay.

It is such a fun age, and definitely a good distraction I am sure!

It is so interesting hearing about people's symptoms as they are all so different, I didn't even think about checking CM but that makes so much sense.

Yes, this is our first attempt, we went to our GP in March 2022 to get the ball rolling, we decided to go the NHS route so we were logged into the system, however it then took a LONG time to get to insemination. We still have to pay for all our IUI treatment however it means if 3 IUIs do not work we will likely be eligible for IVF on the NHS and we hope that will progress quickly as we are already in the NHS system (I don't know if that is actually how it works though).

Are you keeping yourself busy over these two weeks?

@LozDo Welcome, thank you for replying. Oh it is really difficult not to symptom spot isn't it? 9dpo is still early so fingers for you!

Do you all continue as normal for the TTW or change lifestyle slightly (stop alcohol/reduce exercise etc)? I have stopped drinking but do weekly weight training PT usually and there is such differing info on if that is okay or not...

OP posts:
LozDo · 02/10/2023 12:47

I'm just carrying on as normal, my work includes heavy lifting but theres no evidence to suggest it would cause issues so early on.

I don't like to change anything and get my hopes up, with my last I didn't know till 2 weeks late and was continuing as normal so I think if it's meant to stick it will and we change accordingly once we are sure, but that's just me, we all need to do what feels right for us

fr4zzledmum · 02/10/2023 12:49

Hi, can I join? :) Currently only 3dpo, first cycle trying for DC2 - have a DD who is 5 in Jan and have only just managed to convince myself I can handle another after PND.

We were lucky on the first cycle with DD but I'm older and much fatter softer now, so being realistic that it likely won't be the same this time.

We're not fully into ovulation tests and scheduling yet, just seeing how we get on. I'm using my Clue app as an estimate for ovulation.

So sorry, I may not be too savvy with some of the acronyms.

Twomumfamily · 02/10/2023 12:55

@LozDo thank you, that is reassuring, I really enjoy training so I think I will continue as normal. I have stopped drinking only because each try is costing us so(ooo) much money (IUI) so it is just for peace of mind really for the run up to and during treatment. I am missing wine though haha! Very good to know you continued as normal previously, it's tricky to know what to do!

Hi everyone! I’m 33, 6dpo and ttc #1 after a MMC in august. That was an unplanned pregnancy so this is my first ever tww, would love to join in with you all. I don’t have high hopes for this cycle but sending lots of baby dust to you all ✨ x

Twomumfamily · 02/10/2023 12:59

@Bali200 Welcome!! Sorry to hear about your MMC in August.

I am also in my first TTW, it's way harder than I thought it would be!!

I'm trying to cut down my caffeine, but that's purely because I have waaaay to much coffee ever when I'm not TTC, so drinking more tea and decaf coffee. I'm not a big drinker, so havent had to avoid that yet - I have something planned at the beginning of November which I'll likely still drink but not the same quantity I would've.

Twomumfamily · 02/10/2023 13:17

@fr4zzledmum Hello! Of course you can - welcome! I have been using Clue app too, it is quite accurate (I am using OPKs as well but it's pretty lined up with what Clue says it will be).

Haha I am just getting my head around the acronyms also!

Twomumfamily · 02/10/2023 13:20

@fr4zzledmum Sorry, just seen your second post - I am also cutting down on caffeine which I am really struggling with (I usually have 2 or 3 cups) so am now on 1 caffeinated and then decaf. It is not hitting the spot haha.

Hoping on here. I haven't been actively TTC... the plan was to wait until after the new year but there was an incident during my fertile window. I (think I) am 6DPO, though I wasn't really tracking ovulation.

Last week, I had half-convinced myself I had symptoms even though I knew it was far too early, but now I don't feel anything in particular. The thing is, I've been wanting to start trying for ages, but hubby wanted to get more settled in a new city, new job, etc.

@Twomumfamily As for lifestyle changes, it's probably overkill but I started taking folic acid just in case--I had already been to see a midwife a few months ago because we had just moved and she recommended having it on hand just in case. And I haven't been drinking (never have been a big drinker). The biggest thing for me is that I'm limiting myself to 1-2 cups of coffee a day which is not much for me ahah. I just figure better safe than sorry

fr4zzledmum · 02/10/2023 15:28

@katkat167 Yes I've started on pregnancy vits, just some cheapies from ASDA but they have folic acid and other vitamins in (and excluding vit a).

My body probably do with a bit of TLC anyway, haha!

Muddysocks1 · 02/10/2023 16:12

@kat167 hey, I’m also here after an accident in fertile window! It was O-3 which is apparently the second highest likelihood day.. am 7dpo. Convinced myself of symptoms but it’s all gone quiet today and as implantation doesn’t usually happen until now or later, I’m not sure if they’ve all been in my head 🙈

fr4zzledmum · 02/10/2023 16:15

This is my apps prediction of my fertile window and DTD (green markers). I don't particularly think we've timed anything well enough this month or done it enough, but I'm reasonably relaxed with it being my first cycle.

Twomumfamily · 02/10/2023 16:33

Hi @Muddysocks1 and @kat167

Yes I have also been taking folic acid and some other vitamins, I started about 4 months prior to beginning treatment - they are multi-vitamins though and have actually helped me with fatigue anyway :)

OP posts:
kat167 · 02/10/2023 18:42

@Muddysocks1 Yeah, it's amazing what our minds can do to us. I probably shouldn't research everything to death either--but oh well. This weekend was incredibly busy and productive getting the new house set up, so I think that helped distract me so I stopped stressing about it so much.

@fr4zzledmum hey! I use Clue too. Although, it looks like you're timing may not be that bad. I read Period Power a few years back (it's not about ttc just about understanding your cycle) but I remember it saying people ttc should try to have sex in the days before ovulation to be sure not to miss it.

Muddysocks1 · 02/10/2023 18:44

Yes @fr4zzledmum @kat167 I think thats right, this is what I saw last week about the days most likely!

fr4zzledmum · 02/10/2023 19:04

@Muddysocks1 thanks, that's an interesting graph! Crazy to think the highest chance is 26%!

PrincessPrawn · 02/10/2023 19:12

Hello! Might hang around if that’s ok 😁

Currently on cycle 1 of trying to conceive our second and told myself I was going to be all calm and chilled this time…and here I am at 5DPO symptom spotting like a mad-woman!

fr4zzledmum · 02/10/2023 19:33

@PrincessPrawn I was saying the same thing to my DH yesterday - I can't remember being this wound up trying for DC1, and I certainly don't remember even thinking about the TWW. I'm only 3dpo and already impatient! Will probably have a cheeky test around 7/8 dpo if I'm honest.

Muddysocks1 · 02/10/2023 19:38

@fr4zzledmum it’s crazy isn’t it!! and when you’re at school they teach you if you even look at a penis you’d “fall” pregnant 😂 how untrue that is

JJM13 · 02/10/2023 20:18

Hello everyone I am 38 TTC to conceive no2 we have 1 DD who is 4 , in April we had a MMC and a CP in July it’s taken until last month for my cycle to normalise after the D&C.
