kayzisbroody · 23/02/2008 13:50

LOL, your poor dh. After you told him did he still think it was horrible?

Diege · 23/02/2008 13:53

Oooh no, v.keen now . He asked me where I'd heard it from and when I said mumsnet he raised his eyes to ceiling and asked 'is that the fanjo place'??

kayzisbroody · 23/02/2008 13:58

PMSL!!!
When dh comes home from work and I'm on the laptop he says are you on MN?
I'm so sad I've just been and bought a pg magazine. You'd think after doing it once I dont need to read them.

NatalieJane · 23/02/2008 14:00

LOL DH is quite used to me coming out with MN acronyms, I once texted him asking "Can you bring DS1 home a treat, he's had a bad day" Got a reply along the along the lines of who the fuck is DS1 LOL I have mentioned norks, fanjo, even EWCM, he just gives me the sort of look and tuts at MN for influencing my vocab!

GJ agree with Diege, take no notice of the nusre, it is solely for dating purposes (i.e. not medical). Besides, that is what dating scans are for, and IME even if you 100% on your dates they only take notice of the dating scan dates anyway.

kayzisbroody · 23/02/2008 14:02

Yeah they just use the dating scan anyway. I know I got like 500 million due dates over 2 months.

Diege · 23/02/2008 14:03

Lol Nat - I've also sent e-mails and used 'dds', 'dh' etc, and was quite surprised that people are confused!
Kay, I think pregnancy mags are par for the course, however many times you've been through it! Which one did you get then ?

lardylumps · 23/02/2008 14:09

With dd I came of the pill and never had a period as I got pregnant straight away (dp says he has super sperm) more like persistent buggers.

I wonder if that is a fluke.....

kayzisbroody · 23/02/2008 14:11

I got the Prima Baby and Pregnancy one. It came with a free Celeb Mum's Reveal Special oooh!!

lardylumps · 23/02/2008 14:11

Why cant I type a simple message today??

Of cause that was meant to say: I wonder if that WAS a fluke

kayzisbroody · 23/02/2008 14:13

LL I did exactly the same with ds and the doctors told me it was impossible and I was given about 8 due dates that were 2 months apart.

I'm hoping the same will happen this time except the due dates. 1 will do ta!!

Diege · 23/02/2008 14:14

LL, it's well documented that fertility goes up in SOME women after stopping the pill, so maybe not a fluke at all?? .
Kay, know those mags well (my sister who's a midwife was in Prima baby recently ). Did it have the regular 'Find out what labour REALLY feels like!!!' on the front cover?

kayzisbroody · 23/02/2008 14:17

Its a 'how to get the birth you want' in this issue!!

Diege · 23/02/2008 14:32

Ahh, close enough! You've made me want to go and get one now . Also want to get cable so that I can watch the live births on Discovery. I'm obsessed!

kayzisbroody · 23/02/2008 14:36

I watch like Portland Babies and stuff.
I know exactly how to get the birth I want, DH can give birth!!

Diege · 23/02/2008 15:18

That would be good wouldn't it! Have to say I don't 'get' the whole joysome birth thing, esp early stages, but having said that I still have this vision of how birth COULD be..it's just that it goes out of the window when it starts to HURT . I have told dh I don't want to have an epidural this time, but even I can't blame him for laughing . If I do go down the home birht route, at least I won't have the choice of an epidural!!

kayzisbroody · 23/02/2008 16:52

I couldn't have an epidural, I'm terrified of needles. I dont know how I managed to have pethedine!!
I want one of those births you hear about that they have like half an hour of contractions, push twice and there you go one baby!!

Diege · 23/02/2008 17:24

You mean a TV birth Kay? (a la Violet off Corrie ). Have to say, an epidural does work well (with 2 of 3 of my births - with dd2 it didn't 'take' so just had gas and air)but the needle is a little scary looking and it's v.hard sitting still while they find the right spot. You also feel a bit of a shock when/if they hit a nerve, but then blissssss

kayzisbroody · 23/02/2008 17:29

Yeah a TV birth. It would be marvellous!! I'm really paranoid that when I'm pg with #2 I'll waddle like Violet. I'm sure I didnt with ds.

Its the sitting still during contractions I dont think I could do.

Diege · 23/02/2008 17:39

Oh I don't think I'll ever forget that waddle. Twas quite pleased that people were always surprised when I turned round when I was pregnant as I didn't look like I was from the back. Thinking about it, I think you waddle more AFTER the birth what with the pillow of a sanitory towel and the general 'discomfort' shall we say

kayzisbroody · 23/02/2008 17:43

Yeah I know. I hated those bloody things. My MW broke her ankle a week before I gave birth so I had 4 different mw's come and see me after I gave birth and I moaned about the towels. Then 1 of them said that I could use normal towels just the ultra ones and I could've kissed her.

Diege · 23/02/2008 17:53

Yeah, by dd3 they were recommending 'Always Nighttime' - much better! In fact I still have a few packets after dh stock-piled them! Also some of those disposable knickers in fetching pastel shades. Think I'll just buy cheap cotton ones next time. The rustling noise when sitting down isn;t great

kayzisbroody · 23/02/2008 17:58

LOL

I've got bucket loads of breast pads. I didnt need them in the end as I couldn't breast feed due to stupid nurses and MW's

lardylumps · 23/02/2008 18:00

Ladies, as always it has been a pleasure. I am now going to try and convince my dp that the time is now....

Speak on Monday

kayzisbroody · 23/02/2008 18:06

You go for it LL!!

NatalieJane · 23/02/2008 18:24

Evening laydees

Oh the joys of a play pen and Nick Jr.

My last labour/birth was pretty much a tv birth but with a lot more shouting screaming and mooing. just less than 2 hours contractions and 4 minutes pushing, on a couple of puffs of G&A, which I wasn't even doing right apparently....!

Have a good time LL And everyone else have a lovely weekend xxx
