Ovulation testing help

Morning ladies :)

I’m currently on day 4 of cycle 1 TTC after a miscarriage at 8 weeks on 5th March.

I want to try not to miss our chance with this cycle, so have bought some ovulation test sticks, just wondered when would be best to start testing from after my period ends?

I usually have 28-30 day cycles but I don’t know how the miscarriage would have affected the cycles and/or ovulation.

Thank you :)

@Angelselevenx Ah yes you did mention it, I’m just useless haha!

Well, I only have one cheapie test so I’ll try my very hardest to wait until around 5th May 🫣😂 We’ll see how that goes though…

When are you planning to test first?!

@DHB how you doing lovely!? Any symptoms?

DHB · 30/04/2023 16:07

Hey! @Angelselevenx I’m all good thank you! I caved and tested the other day at what I think was 6dpo 😂🫣 Obviously it was negative!! But no symptoms at all :(

How are you getting on?! X

Angelselevenx · 06/05/2023 06:46

@DHB hey! How you doing? My temp stayed high but I had some pre period spotting, temps dropped right down now so expecting AF any day now x

DHB · 06/05/2023 14:47

@Angelselevenx Hello! Oh no :( Here’s to a lucky May if that’s the case! 🤞🏼

Well I’m just plodding along! I expected AF today based on my normal 28 day cycles, but then from the first bleed of the MC in March, to my first proper period, was 5 weeks, so now I have no idea when I’ll be due this month, not even sure for definite when I ovulated either 🙃

Hey @DHB ! How are you doing? X

DHB · 19/06/2023 17:54

@Angelselevenx Hello! I had my first positive HCG on 7th June, I’ll be 6 weeks tomorrow however as of today I’ve started spotting firstly very pale brown this morning and now have had some water pinky red so having to wait for EPU to call me back which will be tomorrow now :(

How are you? X

OP posts:
Angelselevenx · 19/06/2023 17:56

@DHB oh wow, tentative congratulations lovely. Fingers crossed all will be okay, have you still been texting hcg?

I'm good thank you, on CD15 and O is CD20. On holiday at the moment but typically won't O until just after we get home, started DTD today and going to try another 2/3 times and on O day 🤞🏼 x

DHB · 19/06/2023 18:03

@Angelselevenx Thank you, I don’t even want to move I’m so worried 😩 I’m hoping they will book me in for a scan tomorrow to check what’s going on. Yeah, they’d been getting darker too and I’d only ordered more last night too to keep checking it.

Oh yay that’s getting close then! Fingers crossed all goes well for you this month! If not, try the relaxed approach as that’s what I ended up doing and I did feel it helped too x

OP posts:
Angelselevenx · 19/06/2023 18:05

@DHB they should do, I had an internal scan when I went to EPU. They might do bloods for you as well. Have you taken anymore since you've started spotting? Spotting can also be normal so try not to worry too much, I know that's so so much easier said than done.

Fingers crossed, how did you become relaxed? I feel like I'm constantly waiting for O and trying to time dtd. I feel like I can't switch off from it x

DHB · 19/06/2023 19:21

@Angelselevenx They’ve booked me for a scan next Tuesday as they need me to be over 6.5 weeks ideally, so they can make sure they can see something if it is still there. I thought it was tailing off about an hour ago but it’s gone back to bright red/pink again so it’s just a waiting game now. My sore nipples (my only symptom along with bloating) have disappeared too in the last few days.

I just stopped testing OPKs and tracking anything! Stayed off MN a bit more too. All I tracked were my period dates as I’d still like to have those tracked xx

Angelselevenx · 19/06/2023 19:27

@DHB oh no that's frustrating having to wait but hopefully they'll be able to see more by then. I know the stress so I completely get your worry. Did you say you had more tests coming/have you done anymore since the bleeding?

That's a good idea, maybe I should do that. I was going to test OPK this month and did for 2/3 days but I think I'll stop now as I can usually tell when O is anyway without them xx

DHB · 19/06/2023 19:30

@Angelselevenx Oh no sorry I missed that bit off didn’t I! I have tests coming tomorrow but I’m actually so scared to even do them. I keep checking with wiping and it’s going from light bright red to light browny red and looks watery.

Yeah I’d stop and just see how you get on. DTD as much as you can and want to obviously. There’s no harm trying :) x

Angelselevenx · 19/06/2023 19:35

@DHB don't worry 🤣 oh I really feel for you, it's an awful place to be. Hope your partner is being supportive and I'm sending love your way. Don't do them if you find it stressful and see how the bleeding/spotting goes over the next few days

Some spotting/bleeding can be completely normal, a friend of mine recently had heavy bleeding on and off/pink & brown had a scan and was absolutely fine. Xx

DHB · 19/06/2023 19:39

@Angelselevenx Ah yes he is, he came home from work straight away when I called him (which isn’t the easiest job to leave as we’re both in the emergency services!)

I’ll see how it goes tomorrow, but then if it’s in a MC process I don’t know if they’d be faint already by tomorrow anyway would they? I was further along last time, nearly 7.5 weeks.

Oh really?! That’s reassuring to hear. I’ve been on here most of the afternoon searching for positive outcomes 🤦🏼‍♀️ Silly really as it won’t change whatever my outcome is! X

OP posts:
Angelselevenx · 19/06/2023 19:42

@DHB oh good I'm glad! aww amazing are you, my partner is in the emergency services as well so I know the struggles!

I think if it is a MC (I'm still holding out hope for you) they'd be a bit lighter than the previous ones you've taken, if you kept them you could compare?

I know, I know mine was around 5 weeks but I drove myself insane and searched high and low but like you said, it doesn't change the outcome but even if it helps you get a bit of a better sleep tonight x

DHB · 19/06/2023 19:52

@Angelselevenx Oh is he! Small world isn’t it! We’re both on complete opposite shifts at the moment too and two separate stations in the district so it’s a right nightmare, but the force are looking to change the shift pattern in October so that’ll be easier on us! It’s a nightmare thought isn’t it, knackering and for what money 😂🤦🏼‍♀️

Oh ok, I think I’ll have to save my wee from the morning and take one then, otherwise I’ll just be even more anxious and at least I’ll have an idea then I suppose, I’m in limbo and clutching at straws at the moment, it’s tiring isn’t it :( x

OP posts:
Angelselevenx · 19/06/2023 20:05

@DHB it really is! He works for the red line though not the blue, although I actually volunteer as a SC as well 🤣. That must be hard work, hats off to you I don't think I could do shifts full time. I think the fire serv shifts are so much better, 2 days 2 nights 4 days off. That's good they're changing the shift pattern, what are they changing it to?

Bless you, it's horrendous to go through I really hope this all works out for you. It is, you drive yourself mad. Did you let the doctors know of your MC last time? X

DHB · 19/06/2023 21:19

Oh do you? I did that for a year before joining regulars! Yeah, those shifts are ideal! That’s what I wanted, but they’ve gone with 2 earlies, 2 lates, 2 nights, 4 off so still not too bad!

Yes we do don’t we :( Time goes so much slower too. It’s gone quite red now so I think it’s probably going to go the way I thought it would from the start, I always had this gut feeling. Yes they’re aware, but don’t seem too concerned really! I will have to chase them up I think x

OP posts:
Angelselevenx · 20/06/2023 09:25

@DHB ah that's quite good! The shifts in my force are awful, I think that's what puts me off massively they're just all over the place. Is your OH shifts changing too or just yours?

Oh hun I'm really sorry, how is it this morning? Are you off work whilst this is happening? Definitely let them know if it does happen a second time they might be able to get you in for testing to find out why it's happening (if it is). Hopefully your tests turn up soon so you can see what it's looking like x

DHB · 20/06/2023 16:58

@Angelselevenx Yeah they’re not the greatest are they! No, it’s both of ours, the whole force for response is in consultation for the change, I think it’ll be a lot better but all the younger officers are complaining as they won’t get as many free weekends partying 🫣😂

Its basically been full blown period all day, with period type cramps earlier too. My tests came, I did two strips which do look slightly fainter than the last one I did prior to any of this, which were getting darker. The clear blue is also still saying 1-2 weeks which is what it said on 7th June too. EPU can’t get my scan any sooner due to being too early on, so it’s just a waiting game for confirmation I think. I’m gutted :(

Yeah, I told work today as I’m due back in tomorrow so I’m staying off x

OP posts:
Angelselevenx · 21/06/2023 06:22

@DHB they really aren't but that's good you're all in consultation for it! Typical of the younger ones 🤣.

Oh hun I'm so sorry, tmi but has there been clotting or just blood? How are you feeling? Frustrating EPU can't get you in, have you called to say the bleeding has intensified?

Glad you're off work as well, definitely a good idea not to be going in x

DHB · 21/06/2023 08:53

@Angelselevenx Yeah, they need to sort their priorities out haha!

It’s literally as a period would be, so not clots and such but tiny (no more than 0.5cm) of stringy tissue. So I’m 99% sure what the outcome of the scan will be :(

I did call them again yesterday but they said they can’t bring the scan foreword because they need me to be around 7 weeks otherwise it’d be unlikely they’d see a heartbeat either way. They just said to monitor the bleeding and go to A&E if it’s soaking through two pads an hour or I’m getting one sided pain xx

Angelselevenx · 24/06/2023 07:24

@DHB just come to check up on you and my previous reply didn't post!

How are you doing? Xx

I would start testing around day 9 of your cycle. I bought some tests from Amazon, they were quite cheap. £5 for about 6 months worth. They were very accurate and we got pregnant on the 3rd cycle.
