Anyone out there starting/continuing IVF treatment next month (April 2023)?

I’m 36, first time everything, and due to start stims early April. Wondering if there are others who might like a thread to chat/vent?

If you’re out there and in a similar position, let me know!

Great news @lemons44! Keeping everything crossed for tomorrow.

Triselly · 01/05/2023 20:27

How are you doing @pongom xx

pongom · 01/05/2023 20:44

@Triselly I just keep sobbing mostly, all the hormones have finally caught up with me and I’ve gone a bit mad!

no more spotting but have all my usual period pains so I think my period is on it’s way unfortunately. Official test day is on Friday but I tested today (waaaay too early I know) and it was a definite negative today.

how are you? x

CR7 · 01/05/2023 20:52

@pongom it's so hard xx we are all here

TheBirdintheCave · 01/05/2023 21:28

@lemons44 Great news re the eggies! :D Fingers crossed for good fertilisation rates tomorrow.

@pongom Sorry it was another negative :(

I started Fyremadel today along with the Gonal F and first scan is tomorrow at 11am. I found the Fyremadel needle a lot harder to get in than Gonal F one 😂 I think it's slightly thicker maybe? 🤷🏻‍♀️

Triselly · 01/05/2023 21:47

I am sorry @pongom , I’ve got everything crossed for you that it’s just some period-like symptoms and that you get good news on Friday - it is still very early for a positive test.

I am the same re:hormone madness, god I can’t stop crying. At everything. I tried watching a bunch of Disney films to cheer up but just ended up proper sobbing through Inside Out, it’s ridiculous 😂😭

@TheBirdintheCave Yes I think the fyremadel is a bit thicker, I know I’ve said it a thousand times but I found using ice on the area for 10 mins beforehand made it almost completely numb if that helps.

Sorry @pongom it must be so stressful at that stage of waiting to see if it's worked. Agree with @CR7 we are all here xx

lemons44 · 02/05/2023 08:10

And thanks all. I am assuming we will hear fertilisation rates this morning. I want to call the clinic but don't want to pester as they did say they will call today. Our egg collection was at 9:30am yesterday so I'm thinking surely they would know first thing today? We had to have ICSI. How soon did u all find out from egg collection? I feel unbelievably stressed and scared to the point I feel sick and shakey.

Triselly · 02/05/2023 08:13

@lemons44 I think ICSI has better success rates? We understand, it’s so nerve wracking. Plus you went through surgery yesterday so bound to feel a bit shaken? We heard a couple of hours after the clinic opened, but if you are really feeling awful I’d just call them - can’t see how that would be a bother for them, they must be very used to women needing answers ❤️

CR7 · 02/05/2023 08:20

@lemons44 we were called each time before 11 xx

RunningOnHope · 02/05/2023 08:23

@lemons44 our call was about 9.30. What are you up to this morning? I'm sure they'll be in touch in the next couple of hours.

WholeZebra · 02/05/2023 08:37

@lemons44 completely understandable that you feel stressed and shaken - and congratulations on such an amazing number of eggs. I wouldn’t worry about ringing them - I’ve done nothing but pester our clinic.

lemons44 · 02/05/2023 09:58

Of our 13 eggs, 10 were immature. Of the 3 that were mature the 3 fertilised.
I'm so confused. Why would 10 be immature? I'm 33 and my AMH is 14. ☹️
They are going to call me later with more details. Feel so sad and confused

Triselly · 02/05/2023 10:04

I’m sorry the numbers weren’t as high as you were hoping for @lemons44 , I understand it’s a crushing disappointment, but you have 3 little embryos developing right now, and all 3 might be winners ❤️

I am purely speculating here, but maybe they did your egg collection a bit early as they were worried about the cyst? Not trying to offer medical advice of course, as have no clue, but just a guess?

OP posts:
CR7 · 02/05/2023 10:08

@lemons44 understandable to be disappointed. Try if you can to be excited about these three tiny miracles xx the numbers game is such a lottery; you never know what will happen

TheBirdintheCave · 02/05/2023 10:15

Sorry only three were mature @lemons44 :( Still, three of three fertilised which is really great! Fingers crossed all three make it to day five!

WholeZebra · 02/05/2023 10:34

I’m so sorry @lemons44 that you didn’t get the numbers you were hoping for. But remember it just takes that one little embryo!

lemons44 · 02/05/2023 10:38

Thanks. I just feel like something has gone a bit wrong somewhere for 10 to be immature. I was originally supposed to have my egg collection on Wednesday and it got moved forward to Monday. I wonder if this was part of the problem. Also really wondering if I responded badly to the trigger shot. I've never heard anybody say they had this many immature before.

CR7 · 02/05/2023 10:44

@lemons44 they should definitely do a wash up as to the findings xx

TheBirdintheCave · 02/05/2023 11:22

First scan done. 30 follicles are growing so the estimate is 15-20 eggs. I wasn't told how big they were.

They mentioned the freeze all thing again so I'm really not happy about that 😡

Next scan is Thursday.

Not sure what happens if it all happens over the Coronation 🤷🏻‍♀️ Or how on earth we're meant to get into London then.

CR7 · 02/05/2023 11:48

@TheBirdintheCave great news! They should have a bh protocol as we normally have eight a year. Did you ask the question? Xx

Flowerlover010 · 02/05/2023 12:12

@lemons44 completely understand your disappointment and confusion. Hopefully the clinic could give you some insight but id try to focus on the 100% fertilisation rate which is very good. Quality over quantity any day. Fingers crossed for you xx

CR7 · 02/05/2023 12:15

Excellent words (as usual) @Flowerlover010

TheBirdintheCave · 02/05/2023 12:30

@CR7 I forgot 🤦🏻‍♀️ I had it in my head ready to say then they started talking about freeze all so I got distracted.

Getting an email (hopefully) later to see if they want me to lower my Gonal F dosage.

CR7 · 02/05/2023 12:33

@TheBirdintheCave easily done!!!!!!
