Anyone out there starting/continuing IVF treatment next month (April 2023)?

I’m 36, first time everything, and due to start stims early April. Wondering if there are others who might like a thread to chat/vent?

If you’re out there and in a similar position, let me know!

Sending love, @lemons44. So many of us have had lower numbers at this stage, but I get it's particularly confusing about the maturity. Keeping everything crossed for their next few days.

We tested again this morning, BFN at 8dp5dt. So pretty sure that's it now but will obviously test again on OTD next Monday. Feeling ok about it - we've got three in the freezer and at least this way I won't have morning sickness while doing my big job interview next month!

Triselly · 03/05/2023 06:45

Hey @RunningOnHope hope that you’re doing ok xx Surely it’s still a bit early seeing as your OTD is a while away - but glad to hear that you sound quite positive and have some embryos waiting in the freezer.

@RunningOnHope Sorry about the BFN :(

lemons44 · 03/05/2023 10:44

I'm so sorry @RunningOnHope for the BFN. Keeping everything crossed that it's just too early for you. That's great you have frozen ones though 💗

Thank you everybody for your messages. I'm finding this whole process very stressful. The clinic rang today on day 2.

Of our three fertilised mature eggs, one embryo has not divided. The other two have divided and are where they should be for day 2. One has divided into two cells the other into three cells.

They want me to come in for a transfer tomorrow at 11am and they will transfer the best looking one.

TheBirdintheCave · 03/05/2023 10:47

@lemons44 Ok, two still going strong! Fingers crossed they keep on dividing ❤ How are you feeling about it? :/

lemons44 · 03/05/2023 10:48

@TheBirdintheCave that's a great number of predicted eggs. Fingers crossed for your next scan xx

lemons44 · 03/05/2023 10:51

@TheBirdintheCave ah cross post!

I'm feeling a mixture of emotions. I am so happy we still have 2 but in my head i just feel like it isn't going to work for us this cycle and im mentally preparing to go again. I don't know if this is just my brains mechanism to protect myself from getting any hopes up.

I think the progesterone is starting to make me hormonal too 😢

TheBirdintheCave · 03/05/2023 11:24

@lemons44 Totally understand that feeling. It's ok to want to guard yourself just in case. I'm glad you can still hang on to a bit of happiness though :)

Triselly · 03/05/2023 11:33

I feel exactly the same as you @lemons44 , 1 embryo 6dp3dt and very much preparing myself to have to start all over again at the beginning. I don’t feel any different at all aside from very emotional from the progesterone. I guess it’s good to be prepared for and expecting the worst though.

Let us know how the ET goes tomorrow if you feel like it, it’s crazy how fast it all happens after so many weeks/months of waiting.

Glad to hear you have such good numbers, @TheBirdintheCave that sounds very hopeful. Do you know what your clinic is planning if you have appointments over the coronation weekend? I’d be extremely annoyed if it started getting in the way of my treatment.

How is everyone else doing?

OP posts:
TheBirdintheCave · 03/05/2023 12:04

@Triselly No clue yet. Next scan is on Friday (they moved it a day later to avoid us travelling into London lots, which was nice of them) so I can ask then. Really hope I get given a date for egg collection then 🙏

It's funny how everyone here sees my numbers as hopeful but I'm just depressed about everything 😂

It can be normal to feel nothing by the way, I didn't feel any different at all when I was first pregnant with my son which is why I didn't even bother testing until my period was due.

CR7 · 03/05/2023 13:22

@TheBirdintheCave glad that they are being flexible with travelling. I have had scans etc on BH mondays and they do work as normal on BH for EC and ET where I go.

I think we have all learned not to fixate on numbers as the numbers aren't always an indicator of final results.

Doesn't stop up cheering each other on though! xx

SaraSS · 03/05/2023 13:23

Hi all, I'm starting IVF this month, my first round. I jumped on this thread earlier to follow you guys who are slightly ahead of me.
I can't quite catch up with all the messages, sorry for the BFNs and fingers crossed for those still to transfer and test.

I've had my meds delivered today, has anyone got experience with the below?

  • Gonadotropina corionica 5000 units 1ml
  • Micronised progesterone 400mg
  • Fyremadel 0.25mg / 0.5ml
  • Menotrophin 75 IU

I'm not sure what to expect! It's our first round so everything's new to us 🙂

CR7 · 03/05/2023 13:48

Welcome @SaraSS - not had any of those I'm afraid x

TheBirdintheCave · 03/05/2023 13:52

@SaraSS The only one of those I have is Fyremadel. It's meant to sting a little but I've found it to be ok and the slight tingle I do get is after I've taken the needle out.

Triselly · 03/05/2023 14:05

Hi @SaraSS :) Yes I was on fyremadel, like bird says it’s a tiny bit stingy but absolutely nothing to worry about. I am sure the drugs we have all been on are fairly similar - I didn’t have any problems other than getting rather bloated towards the end - so invested in some cheap dungarees. I recommend treating yourself to an item of clothing that doesn’t have much of a waistband if you don’t have any already.

Other than that, didn’t have any bad experiences with the drugs at all. What date are you due to start them?

Ooh yeah I can deal with a sting. My fear is sickness, I'm such a wuss with feeling nauseous!
So do you know what Fyremadel does?
I have no idea what the jobs of each medicine is!

SarahShorty · 03/05/2023 14:33

@SaraSS 'Micronised progesterone 400mg' - that'd be pessaries. They either go up your bum or up your vagina. I had Cyclogest pessaries. They made a right mess of my underwear when inserted vaginally, but it washed out just fine.

Triselly · 03/05/2023 14:35

@SaraSS None of the meds made me feel nauseous at all :) I believe the injections that you take for the first few days stimulate follicle growth and egg production, and the fyremadel that you take for the last few days stops you from ovulating too soon. The progesterone is possibly for a healthy uterine lining and I’m not sure about the other one- maybe that’s your trigger shot? Mine was Ovitrelle. That’s all guesswork though apart from the fyremadel 😅

@SaraSS hi im due to start my first round soon too. Im exactly the same as you with sickness! Im hoping i dont feel ill either! But i guess ill only find out when i try. What date are you starting?

RunningOnHope · 03/05/2023 15:44

@SaraSS @Flowerlover010 I didn't have any side effects at all from any of my meds, right up until now when I think the progesterone pessaries are giving me a bit of a dodgy tummy. But otherwise, the drugs have been absolutely fine for me.

Flowerlover010 · 03/05/2023 15:48

@RunningOnHope thank you ive always been funny with new meds coz u never know what side effects you can get. To be fair i dont usually get any so im hoping these drugs are the same. I am already on Norethisterone and heparin and ive got nothing from them so far so thats good.

SaraSS · 03/05/2023 15:52

Thanks for the responses @CR7 @Triselly @TheBirdintheCave @SarahShorty @RunningOnHope

You've put my mind at ease a little as sounds like you've had ok experiences so far!

I start early next week I think, due my period this weekend. I've got an appointment tomorrow morning to be shown how to inject myself! Very excited and also nervous!!

@Flowerlover010 do you know when you'll be starting?

Flowerlover010 · 03/05/2023 16:42

@SaraSS ive been injecting heparin and taking Norethisterone for a week now but dont start stims until 20th.
I literally absolutely hate being sick so much but if it meant i was having a healthy pregnancy id take it any day 🥹

CR7 · 03/05/2023 16:45

Echoing @RunningOnHope - not felt sick at all throughout any of my cycles. Not even a bit. Headaches at first but as I've said a lot on here drinking loads absolutely removes them from happening xx

SaraSS · 03/05/2023 16:52

Ooh what are the ones you've been on for a week? Does that mean you're on long protocol?
Sorry if questions are dumb lol 😆

Yes I'd go through pretty much anything if it got us a baby🥹
