Anyone out there starting/continuing IVF treatment next month (April 2023)?

I’m 36, first time everything, and due to start stims early April. Wondering if there are others who might like a thread to chat/vent?

If you’re out there and in a similar position, let me know!

@RunningOnHope Hoorah! That's so exciting :)

charja100 · 22/04/2023 15:54

@RunningOnHope ah that's amazing news! Really pleased for you!

CR7 · 22/04/2023 15:57

@charja100 don't do it. Must wait xxx

CR7 · 22/04/2023 15:59

@RunningOnHope yay!!!!!!! I have mine Tuesday. Let me know any worries or questions you have. Mine is exactly 24 hours later. It's practically the same as a smear test. Xx

Triselly · 22/04/2023 16:13

Ah that is brilliant news @RunningOnHope ! God what a rollercoaster.

@lemons44 Yup I’ve been having twinges the whole time, last day of stims yesterday after 12 days. Has been pretty achey and very bloated these past few days though.

Got my trigger in 4.5 hours, then sitting with everyone who’s waiting for next week!

RunningOnHope · 22/04/2023 16:27

Thanks @CR7. Lovely that we'll be almost in sync, it might help me hold off the tests!

My smears have normally been fine but the last one took a good few attempts and made me bleed because my cervix is pointing backwards or something inconvenient.... 🙄 How was your transfer in the end @charja100, I remember you were worried about it?

RunningOnHope · 22/04/2023 16:28

@Triselly that's so exciting, great that your trigger is at an acceptable time too, no getting up in the night for it!! Does that mean your collection is first thing Monday morning?

CR7 · 22/04/2023 16:30

@RunningOnHope that's why you need a full bladder which you wouldn't have with a smear unless you like living on the edge. You'll be grand xx

charja100 · 22/04/2023 16:32

@Triselly nearly time to join the wait club. 😂

@RunningOnHope it was quite painful. As I was so nervous I made a point of telling the doctor on the day I was nervous and explained the complications. They listened and asked some questions and actually then said they were going to change their approach... I am SO glad that I told them. It meant my embryo stayed safe in the incubator for longer

It took her while to dilate my cervix and a bit of manoeuvring, so if not my embryo would have been out and just waiting around, but we got there in the end. If we're unsuccessful then next time I'll definitely be taking some paracetamol!

pongom · 22/04/2023 20:59

@RunningOnHope thats really fabulous news! So exciting that youre almost ready for transfer ❤️

I heard from the embryologist this morning, of 15 eggs, 14 were mature but only 5 fertilised successfully. I know logically that 5 is great but I can’t help feeling disappointed, it just feels like such a huge amount that didn’t fertilise. I’m trying to stay positive now until transfer day on Wednesday, keeping busy to help the days pass quickly!

RunningOnHope · 22/04/2023 21:31

@pongom Ah I completely feel you. Sorry you're feeling deflated. Isn't it interesting that you, @charja100 and I have all had disappointment in the fertilisation rates? Almost identical numbers retrieved and you two with 5, me with 4 (eventually) fertilised. For @charja100 those few did brilliantly though, let's hope that mine and yours do really well by day 5 as well!!

charja100 · 22/04/2023 21:44

@pongom I'm sorry you're feeling disappointed. Running on hope is right I was in a really similar situation I was certain that using ICSI we'd have had a much better fertilisation rate.

I had 14 eggs, 13 mature and only four fertilised. but, all four made it to day 5 blasts. 1 was a very good grade and was the best as was already hatching and they popped it in on Weds... and I have two also very good ones in the freezer!. The other two they felt weren't good enough quality to freeze.

It's quality over quantity for sure. I was so surprised to have three embryos left.

I'm rooting for you both @RunningOnHope and @pongom! 💪🏼✨💕

CR7 · 23/04/2023 00:14

@charja100 @pongom @RunningOnHope @Triselly - we got this ladies. One day at a time xx

RunningOnHope · 23/04/2023 08:11

Anyone getting progesterone side effects at the moment? I've got reallly sore boobs - my little girl asked me to run with her, and I had to basically clamp my boobs down and do a very slow jog 😂 Also getting bloating and pretty painful gas 😬 so elegant!

pongom · 23/04/2023 08:24

@RunningOnHope oh my god, I’m so glad it’s not just me 😂 I had to give myself a strange boob massage last night because they were so sore!!

I also have absolutely chronic constipation. I’m drinking as much as humanly possible but I just cannot poo, starting to get horrible stomach pain from it now so hoping it budges soon!

CR7 · 23/04/2023 08:26

@RunningOnHope @pongom not yet. Maybe it's due to come 🤮

pongom · 23/04/2023 08:30

@CR7 hopefully you’ve avoided it!

charja100 · 23/04/2023 08:45

@pongom I've found a glass of orange juice a day is helping to keep things moving.

And yes @RunningOnHope all the side effects. 😣 This journey is one hell of a ride.

charja100 · 23/04/2023 22:00

@everyone hoping someone can help me. I have my transfer on Wednesday so I'm only 4dp5dt but this evening there was some pink spotting when I went to the bathroom and I have some cramps. Had anyone had similar?

RunningOnHope · 23/04/2023 22:05

@charja100 Implantation can happen any time from about 6 to 12 days after ovulation - you're at the equivalent of 9dpo, so it sounds like that's definitely possible? I'd take it cautiously as a good sign.

Triselly · 24/04/2023 06:53

Yes @charja100 seconding @RunningOnHope cautious optimism that that may be implantation bleeding - they say it's typically pink or brown.

Waiting for egg collection, hope you all have good days everyone ❤️

charja100 · 24/04/2023 07:03

Thank you @RunningOnHope @Triselly it was pink last night and dark brown this morning. Let's hope it is IB 🙏🏼

Good luck with your egg collection today @Triselly! Let us know how you get on 💕

CR7 · 24/04/2023 07:04

Good luck @Triselly xx keep us posted if you're in the mood xx

CR7 · 24/04/2023 07:06

@RunningOnHope good luck with your transfer ♥️♥️♥️♥️

RunningOnHope · 24/04/2023 07:12

It's Monday! Thinking of you @Triselly. Really hope it's easy and smooth. I would do it again tomorrow: it was so much easier than I thought.

Transfer day here also means leaving the toddler with a friend for the first time because MiL who is our normal childcare help has Covid (yes that has added extra stress this week!) She and friend totally adore each other and we see them a few times a week but it will still be a big deal for her and us to be left there for a few hours!
