Anyone out there starting/continuing IVF treatment next month (April 2023)?

I’m 36, first time everything, and due to start stims early April. Wondering if there are others who might like a thread to chat/vent?

If you’re out there and in a similar position, let me know!

@charja100 I had to take mine out in my handbag last night as I went out for dinner. How long do you keep still for after. I always try for 20 mins x

charja100 · 20/04/2023 07:46

@CR7 oh dear what a pain! I haven't made any plans in the evenings as couldn't face the thought of being stood / sat somewhere with my legs crossed!

I've been lying down for at least 30 mins as that's what the nurse told me was best if I could.

TheBirdintheCave · 20/04/2023 07:56

I'm worried my husband and I might have to go on antibiotics for our sore throats :/ Three days and it hasn't shifted yet though we both feel like we're getting better otherwise.

Has anyone taken antibiotics during their cycles? Googles says it might still be ok if it's penicillin (which is what I was given for Strep A)

Triselly · 20/04/2023 08:00

Wonderful results @RunningOnHope , that’s a great number!
What are you going to do this week @charja100 , are you taking some time off or carrying on as normal?

What is everyone else going to do post transfer? I’m not sure I would be able to carry on as normal, I think I’d be worrying every second about traffic fumes and perfume etc!

Excellent that you’ve got a transfer date @CR7 , hope the steroids and pessaries are all going well!

We had our second stims scan yesterday, I’m now at 7 follicles and have egg collection booked for Monday morning, and if that is successful and we get some embryos, probably Thursday ET. Really excited for next week, for everyone who has stuff happening!

Hope everything is progressing well, @WholeZebra @SarahShorty @lemons44 @TheBirdintheCave and everyone else in the thread, how are you doing?

@Triselly I have booked two weeks off this time. Last two occasions just a couple of days and I didn't relax enough or drink enough or eat as well as I could xx

WholeZebra · 20/04/2023 08:03

@Triselly very exciting that you have a collection date booked in! Fingers firmly crossed for lots of happy healthy eggs.

We have our treatment planning meeting with the nurse today (finally) - including my bloods etc. Not really sure what to expect, hoping to come away feeling excited and like we have some progress!

WholeZebra · 20/04/2023 08:04

@CR7 two weeks off sounds like a great idea! You can really focus on looking after yourself and try to relax!

RunningOnHope · 20/04/2023 08:09

Hi @TheBirdintheCave, I was given penicillin as a standard part of my egg collection, so I guess it must be fine? Really hope both of you get sorted out soon, sounds miserable.

RunningOnHope · 20/04/2023 08:18

Great to hear that your scan went well EC is booked in @Triselly, how are you feeling about it being around the corner now?

Thinking of you today, @WholeZebra, really hope it feels like a positive time and as you, things are definitely progressing now! Are you ok with bloods and things?

After transfer right in the middle of the tww, we have a massive family weekend away - like all the cousins, relatives from around the world flying in - to celebrate a big birthday. On the one hand it'll be a good distraction but definitely not the most stress free way to unwind! I also will have to finish my big job application that week, and doing some interview practice with a kind senior colleague. Again, distracting but not relaxing!

TheBirdintheCave · 20/04/2023 08:30

@RunningOnHope Compared to how I felt with Strep A it's a breeze 😂 Annoying though. I wish my body would stop catching things. I had an incredible immune system before I had my son but now I catch everything going 🙄 Great news that it sounds like Penicillin would be ok. We're going to see how we are tomorrow and maybe (try to) make a doctors appointment if it doesn't feel like there's any improvement.

charja100 · 20/04/2023 09:06

@TheBirdintheCave are you taking multi vitamins? I take a multi vitamin and I also take some vit c and vit d on top (was all part of reading it starts with the egg and trying to prepare my elderly eggs 🤣) anyway, positive side effect is I've barely gotten a sniffle since even when those around me are I'll. might be worth looking into just for day to day.

@Triselly yay! It's almost time! It will be here before you know it how exciting. Keep us updated!

So I'm still working, but I do a desk job and this whole week I've worked from home so I've made sure to take the time I need to stay relaxed. I'm normally a workaholic and do way more than needed so I feel like this is a bit of time they owe me back anyway! But, luckily my business is pretty flexible and are open to us flexing our hours (around our workload if we need to.

The only day I took off was for egg collection, which was luckily on the Friday so I had the weekend to recover.

I think if I had two weeks off I'd just drive myself crazy with worry and anxiety, better to keep myself distracted

TheBirdintheCave · 20/04/2023 09:08

@charja100 Yeah I've been on the Pregnacare preconception ones plus max strength Vitamin D for over a year now 😂 It doesn't seem to make a blind bit of difference for me unfortunately. Toddlers are plague carriers 😂

charja100 · 20/04/2023 09:14

@WholeZebra good luck today! Let us know how it goes. 🤗

charja100 · 20/04/2023 09:15

@TheBirdintheCave oh dear 😅 🤣 well in that case it's good old paracetamol, honey and lemon!

TheBirdintheCave · 20/04/2023 09:26

@charja100 Yeah I've asked my husband to pick us up some more Strepsils today so hopefully they will help. If I get a negative pregnancy test tomorrow morning I will take some Ibuprofen too.

RunningOnHope · 20/04/2023 10:08

Only three fertilised. Feeling pretty gutted. No issues with the donor sperm so maybe just a compatibility issue. They didn't seem to know. But a nail biting few days ahead.

CR7 · 20/04/2023 10:11

@RunningOnHope we are all here xx keep the faith xx

TheBirdintheCave · 20/04/2023 10:17

@RunningOnHope I've got everything crossed for those three. Come on embryos!

SarahShorty · 20/04/2023 10:34

@Triselly Things are moving along. I had my blood test yesterday (CD11). The turnaround for the test is 3-4 days, so I'll likely be hearing back from the clinic early next week regarding the results. One thing my nurse did impart was that it's recommended to LH test from CD10, as all the hormonal stimulation will have likely jump-started everything into moving faster, and to my surprise, I got a high reading from an LH strip last night, so of course I yanked DH into bed with me 😂He didn't complain. We like to DTD on the high LH days so we don't miss the peak. We're totally relaxed and are taking a "Whatever happens, happens" approach. A case of having to be after what feels like forever and all the set-backs.

RunningOnHope · 20/04/2023 15:06

Thanks @CR7 and @TheBirdintheCave

Just feel like I've been punched in the chest whenever I think about it, and because I'm looking after my toddler full time, there's a lot of very boring time that means I'm thinking about it constantly.

Just need to readjust and find my equilibrium again, before the update on Saturday.

Triselly · 20/04/2023 16:36

@RunningOnHope Keeping everything crossed for you that those three are all little fighters xx

@RunningOnHope it's all a big rollercoaster. Ups and downs. So hard x

charja100 · 20/04/2023 18:25

@RunningOnHope I'm sorry it's not the number you hoped for. I was disappointed with our fertilisation too. Keep the faith, you still have three great chances 💕

WholeZebra · 20/04/2023 19:46

@RunningOnHope I know it’s not as you wanted but remember, It only takes that one! 🤗

We had our appointment at 3pm and it just feels so strange coming away feeling really positive after a year of let downs. I’m super excited. All plans in place and our medications should be delivered in the next 48 hours. It’s finally happening!!!! 😭

CR7 · 20/04/2023 19:50

Very interesting take on the two week wait. I've just watched whilst having my hair cut so there are subtitles if you don't have privacy xx

Would love to know what everyone thinks
