Hi ladies

I have a short LP, about 9-10 days. Anyone else in the same boat? Have you managed to get pregnant with a short LP? Any advice would be very welcome!

@GabbyGal @EmmRach thank you! I've definitely got more hope now.

I've not even had any spotting which I normally always get a few days before my period, along with some cramping. I've been weeing a lot today and have come down with cold symptoms. Eeep I wonder if this is it! I'd be amazed though, I had more bloods done recently and my AMH level is so low it's almost undetectable.

It's crazy how HCG can stop a period but not show up on tests, but I guess it depends on how sensitive the tests are. I used an easy@home cheapie test, will be getting some Clearblues if AF is still absent at the weekend!

That does all sound very promising @JuniperandI !! 🤞🏻🤞🏻 let us know xx

Carlotta27 · 18/05/2023 16:29

@JuniperandI Good luck! I recently had a chemical pregnancy (which was emotionally really tough) and in that situation it showed up on a FRER ahead of any other test, so I’d recommend those x

GabbyGal · 18/05/2023 16:30

Wow @EmmRach 32 weeks, not long to go!! How are you feeling?

We’re on cycle 10 TTC now. I’ve had all the fertility tests including a HyCoSy (tube flush) this week and everything is working as it should so we’ve been advised to give it another 3 months (some couples conceive spontaneously after a HyCoSy) and if still no BFP we’re going to do IVF. Feeling ok about it all because we have a plan but I’ll be 39 in Sept so I’m keen to crack on!

GabbyGal · 18/05/2023 16:32

@JuniperandI maybe try a FRER? X

JuniperandI · 18/05/2023 16:46

@GabbyGal I'd be rushing to Boots for a FRER test but I've had so many false positives on pink line tests in the past that I don't trust them anymore! I hope IVF brings you a BFP if you need to go down that route.

@Carlotta27 I'm sorry to hear about your chemical pregnancy. I know how hard it is ❤

My period still isn't here, no sign. I'll just try and relax and get on with my evening!

Aahh I've started taking maca root this month and now I'm reading that it may delay periods! Anyone got any positive maca stories?

OP posts:
Sparklythings1 · 18/05/2023 18:23

@JuniperandI I took maca root the month of my BFP! It gave me an extra 2 days which I think might have been what did the trick but I’m certain all my problems were caused by stress at work as I was more stressed than I’ve ever been before for those months. I also had implantation bleeding, I’d already had a faint positive at 9dpo then we were away for the weekend and as soon as we arrived at the hotel I realised I was bleeding heavily. It was fully the same as a period. It only lasted one day then stopped and I’m now 27 weeks 😅

Hope this is it for you! Keeping everything crossed

JuniperandI · 19/05/2023 07:13

Morning!

Still no period or positive test. I've noticed something about the easy@home tests I'm using - does the control line look a little bit too close to the middle? I looked at pictures of the tests and they're all closer to the right. Anyway, I looked until the bit of paper that holds the 'sponge' and I saw a second line. I think this was because of glue for the paper and it faded quickly.

Short luteal phase?

Hi all, nice to hear your updates 👋🏻 keeping my fingers crossed for you @JuniperandI , no spotting is a great sign…

@Sparklythings1 did you have a different name last year? I’m sure I remember this happening to you in Dec - was so worried! Very glad to hear you’re progressing well, 27 weeks wow ❤️

im moving on to cycle 10 now (same as you @GabbyGal ). Nothing has changed except we’re using the Fertilily. Waiting for DH’s NHS SA. Desperate to get myself booked in for hycosy as that’s pretty much the only thing I’ve not investigated (although I’m still suspicious about progesterone and my spotting). At this point if NHS say there’s a wait I’ll just spend savings on private and go without something else. Feel like my life is on hold while everyone’s around me is on fast forward :( Every decision I’ve made in my adult life has been to prepare for this part and I’m a bit lost.

JuniperandI · 19/05/2023 09:01

Aah scratch that, I'm getting some pinky CM. AF is on her way 😔 jesus this is so hard isn't it?!

OP posts:
GabbyGal · 19/05/2023 10:02

@JuniperandI Aw sorry to hear that, although you never know it could be implantation bleeding!

@Sierra26 I’m in Ireland doing everything privately, I’m lucky I can afford it because it would have taken way too long to go through the public system at my age.

Carlotta27 · 19/05/2023 11:23

@JuniperandI hoping it’s implantation bleeding for you!

Good to hear updates after a few months.

On my side, I quickly paid for a private consultation given my consistently very short (5 day) Luteal phase was a real worry.

I’ve done four medicated cycles (with letrozole to give me a strong ovulation, a trigger shot and then progesterone pessaries) - the pessaries have been the key bit and given me a 14 day Luteal phase with no spotting it issues!

On cycle two I had bright red spotting on day 12 and so assumed it was my period and didn’t take the progesterone that day. It was also the day I got a positive test! Do started up the progesterone but sadly it turned out to be a chemical. The dr has said this wasn’t ny fault but I have felt huge guilt and regret… The one upside is that I suppose it shows my body can get so far as getting pregnant and I’m keen to keep on these progesterone pessaries for the next few cycles. After that he recommends IVF which in a bit scared of as it feels quite like ab “end of the road” option

Interestingly when I saw the private consultant and did AMH tests mine came back low (6.2 at age 33) and he said it was likely because I had short cycles and therefore got through eggs a lot quicker - sharing as this may be the case for others in here too.

Anyway best of luck to all in this unfair and painfully long journey x

GabbyGal · 19/05/2023 14:40

Hi @Carlotta27 thanks for sharing, really interesting to read about the meds you’re on and how they’re working. So sorry you had a chemical but it has to be a positive sign, fingers crossed for a BFP soon. We have a meeting with our consultant next week and I’m definitely going to ask about progesterone for these next 3 cycles, sounds like it’s worth trying. I understand how you feel about IVF but I sort of feel like I’m ready to call in the big guns! Don’t worry too much about AMH, it only takes one egg after all! x

Carlotta27 · 19/05/2023 14:42

@GabbyGal good luck for the meeting! I certainly found it helped me feel a bit calmer having a bit on an action plan for a few months.

The progesterone pessaries (called cyclogest) cost about £20-30 a box for a month and are simple to use - so it’s definitely something worth looking into as it seens to be a quick fix for the lucky women it works for!

Im sure if that’s not part of your treatment the expert will have something suitable - keen to hear how you get on!

JuniperandI · 20/05/2023 07:57

Morning!

I'm still just barely spotting (I'm talking a few streaks of red) and I've had another negative test this morning. I'm going to get some Clearblues later after yoga, just incase the tests I've got are a bad batch.

I'm 11 DPO today and my period is never this late. I've been having cramps like my period is starting properly but it hasn't. GAAHH!

@Sparklythings1 unfortunately AF showed up 😑

@JuniperandI im so sorry! It’s such an emotional rollercoaster. Take care this week and treat yourself x

GabbyGal · 22/05/2023 11:43

Sorry to hear that @JuniperandI sending love ❤️

Sparklythings1 · 22/05/2023 20:07

Awk gutting @JuniperandI 😔 hoping the maca root does work for you though, I don’t think it was the first month I took it that it worked but it was possibly the second as it definitely did give me longer before AF arrived and in my non-scientific theory my body was trying to get pregnant every month and AF was basically arriving and just tearing it all away regardless of whether I was ‘almost’ pregnant or not. My periods seemed to be way heavier than normal so I told myself that’s what it was anyway!

GabbyGal · 06/06/2023 12:02

Hi all, checking in to see how everyone is doing?

After my HyCoSy we had a follow up consult with the fertility clinic and were advised to keep trying for now but we’ve booked in a date for IVF in October if we haven’t got a BFP by then. I started progesterone pessaries which seem to be doing something because I’m on CD28, 9DPO, and my last 4 cycles were 25/26 days with 7/8 day luteal phase. I couldn’t resist testing on a cheapie this morning and got a BFN so feeling a bit deflated today but no sign of AF so trying to remain hopeful.

Hope you’re all doing well xx

EmmRach · 06/06/2023 13:29

Ahh fingers crossed for you @GabbyGal I imagine it must feel good to have a plan of attack? Good to have a direction and feel more in control?

All good here. 35 weeks this week. Not long to go now until I get to meet little one x

GabbyGal · 06/06/2023 16:21

Thanks @EmmRach, yes it does feel good to have a plan and I’ve been feeling very positive about the whole thing, but a bit fed up today after BFN even though I know 9 DPO is early to test.

Only a few weeks to go for you, how exciting! How are you feeling? Not too uncomfortable I hope? x

Carlotta27 · 06/06/2023 19:02

Hi @GabbyGal

Good to hear you have a bit of a plan! How long will you be on the pessaries for? How are you feeling about IVF?

And a negative at 9DPO does def not mean you are out! I think there’s some research online that says something like 12/13DPO are when most people get a positive test…

Im on cycle 5 out of 6 of trying the pessaries, along with a trigger shot to induce ovulation shortly after. I should be ovulating around about this eve and have been slightly obsessing about the “perfect” time to have sex and definitely overthinking and over googling it!

I think the recommendation after that will be IVF for me but I’m keen to try something lower intervention like IUI. Keep us updated on how you progress.

Im trying to keep positive and remind myself that we should all get there in the end … but it’s tough when you’re desperate for a baby right now and can only see the worrying aspects.

Hope everyone else is coping with it all and making some progress in the right direction. X
