Hi ladies

I have a short LP, about 9-10 days. Anyone else in the same boat? Have you managed to get pregnant with a short LP? Any advice would be very welcome!

@EmmRach thank you ❤ I must keep going, stopping isn't a choice!

Our next steps are my progesterone bloods at the end of the month and DH has a sperm test in his near future! I'll keep taking my vitamins and supplements for now and so will he. We have a table booked at our favourite restaurant for Saturday night, it's so important for us to keep dating each other, especially through this tough journey.

I know this isn’t particularly interesting for anyone but I had to share… second month using CBAD and easy@home opks.

last month after 7 days of flashing smilies I peaked evening of CD16, so ovulation C17-CD18. Also had longer than usual cycle after it.

This month, after 3 days of flashing, just got my peak this morning CD12! So probably ovulate tomorrow CD13. I had some right sided pinching yesterday like last month so did think it might happen a bit earlier, but v surprised it’s this early.

what a rollercoaster - no prizes for guessing what we’ll be up to tonight

also blows my mind I can feel the ovulation pains, I had never looked for that before

JuniperandI · 31/01/2023 19:20

Hello ladies.

I had my 7-days-from-due-period progesterone blood test today and the results are totally within normal range. All of my blood tests have been within normal range.

Not sure where to go from here. Other than progesterone, has anyone found any reason for their short LPs?

Hi @JuniperandI

Good your levels were normal, but frustrating for you it doesn’t give any answers :(

I don’t have any advice I’m afraid, but I’m waiting for day21 blood results. My consultant is doing all the possible tests, so I’ve got to go for a day 3 blood test in a few days and a pelvic ultrasound next week.

Im only month three/four of trying and AF due tomorrow, but been spotting as usual for 4 days, BBT come down and BFNs so think I’m out again.

Will update if I get any advice to share at my follow up xx

DesertSnow · 01/02/2023 14:04

Hi @JuniperandI It's great that your results are normal, and that you're doing all the possible tests. I know it doesn't help with answers though!

I think in my case it may have been to do with stress - but that's just a guess really. When I conceived, I had just got married, and had taken a full week off exercise (which I never do) and was generally just in a relaxed and happy place. But it's really hard to say, and probably not very helpful. There's no knowing how long my LP would have been that cycle if I hadn't conceived - it may still have been short but it could have just happened that implantation took place early enough that cycle for it to be successful. There are so many variables, it's hard to know. Really keeping my fingers crossed for you!

JuniperandI · 01/02/2023 20:20

@DesertSnow stress could definitely be a factor with me too! I'll have to keep working on that, thanks 😁

Hi everyone

Spoke to the doctor this morning, and she told me my progesterone test result didn't indicate ovulation...so the results weren't normal as I'd previously been told.

The thought that I'm not ovulating has shaken me a little bit and I've had a cry this afternoon. Next steps are another 21 day blood test, DH sperm test and referral to fertility clinic. I was however referred in June 2022 after my third CP and was told the wait was 18 months so..we'll see if I hear back from them by the end of the year!

I have a feeling it's going to be a long fertility journey for us 😢

OP posts:
EmmRach · 03/02/2023 17:33

@JuniperandI agh, I'm so sorry to read that you suspect more issues. I really hope the wait isn't too long for you to get the referral. You do right having a cry lovely. Xx

DesertSnow · 03/02/2023 18:51

@JuniperandI really sorry to hear your update, but I guess the positive is that if they can identify an issue, it'll be quicker to identify solutions. Fingers crossed your referral comes through quickly.

JuniperandI · 03/02/2023 21:05

@EmmRach @DesertSnow thank you ladies ❤❤

@JuniperandI ugh I’m sorry you’ve had that news ❤️ especially after being told it was okay. As the other ladies have said - allow yourself to be sad! Are they going to try you on meds to stimulate ovulation? There are a lot of success stories out there xx

JuniperandI · 04/02/2023 08:13

@Sierra26 thank you ❤ they said I need all the tests before they can put me on meds, to rule out other causes.

Sierra26 · 04/02/2023 09:46

@JuniperandI hope they can do all of that quickly for you. Go easy on yourself this weekend - self care only! Xx

Carlotta27 · 04/02/2023 11:04

Hi @JuniperandI I’m sorry to hear your news

When I went to see a private Dr a few weeks, he took follicle tracking scans and it showed I didn’t ovulate that month - I was so upset and also worried it was because i tried vitex and had messed myself up - a really worrying thing to have hanging over me!

Anyway, I was prescribed letrozole (to induce ovulation) and will have an HCG trigger shot around the time of ovulation which apparently should boost the luteal
phase. I’m hoping this works for me to give me a normal cycle, let alone a pregnancy. Sharing as it may be the kind of treatment you will be prescribed and can give you some hope for options going forward x

BCxx · 04/02/2023 12:26

@JuniperandI so sorry to read you’ve had a bit of a set back 😢 Could it be stress? I’m sure stress can do all sorts to our bodies and can probably stop ovulation to completely. I was so ridiculously stressed at work and I’m certain that’s what caused my LP issues. As soon as I went off sick I was pregnant 2 weeks later. I’m actually too scared to return in case the cortisol drops my progesterone again so I think I’m just staying off and taking a very early mat leave. Stress and too much cortisol in our bodies can cause endless problems. I don’t know much about your situation though so it might not be but if there’s a chance it could be, maybe try and drastically change it, especially if you’re going to have a bit of a wait for an appointment anyway. Hope something works for you ❤️

JuniperandI · 04/02/2023 21:48

@Carlotta27 thank you! I'm considering private tests at the moment

@BCxx they've checked my cortisol level, all normal. I had the most stressful year of my life in 2022 so that could still be a factor!

OP posts:
BCxx · 04/02/2023 22:05

@JuniperandI ahh I see.. it could definitely be playing a part and like progesterone I’d imagine it’s something that goes up and down? I’m no expert 🤦🏼‍♀️ Hope you manage to get somewhere with it as soon as possible

Sierra26 · 14/02/2023 19:45

Hi all, jumping back on here to share my test results (haven’t had the follow up consultation yet but I was impatient and asked for a copy of the lab results).

Most looks good, and my internal ultrasound was all clear, but I have very high prolactin levels and think I will be referred for macroprolactin test (whatever that is).

google tells me high prolactin can contribute to fertility issues and can unbalance estrogen and progesterone. So I wonder if this is the root of my problem.

does anyone have experience with high prolactin?

google does also say it spikes after exercise and I did a particularly high intensity session an hour or two before my blood test, so also expect I may be sent for another more “rested” test!!

Rosiestraws · 14/02/2023 20:09

Hi @Sierra26 so I don't have any experience as to knowing what the next steps are but I had blood test about 10 days after a chemical pregnancy and I had really high prolactin levels. So it flagged to them to ask me if I was pregnant and I had to explain/remind them why I was having the blasted tests to begin with (which was because I thought my TSH level might have caused miscarriage as I knew it was higher than2) They did eventually agree to redo the tests recently to see if prolactin was still really high (as its linked to pregnancy so the pregnancy hormones might have caused it before) or it could be another issue...
I'll let you know if mine is still high and what they say...

Sierra26 · 15/02/2023 07:08

@Rosiestraws sorry about your chemical :( thanks for sharing that though. Pretty insensitive of them to ask you that! Yes please let me know what happens next, I’ll do the same. I’ve got my appt tomorrow to discuss xx

EmmRach · 17/02/2023 14:07

@Sierra26 interesting!! Hope the consult goes well. It's interesting about exercise. I run quite a lot and the month we fell pregnant I had Covid so wasn't running. And I know @DesertSnow had a week off exercise when she fell pregnant as it was her wedding week!! Exercise obvs has its own benefits, so I wonder if there is a balance there.

@Rosiestraws so sorry about your chemical and how insensitive your medical team were. Hope you get answers soon xx

DesertSnow · 19/02/2023 18:34

Yes I definitely think easing back on the exercise helped in my case. The body can't tell between "good" stress (like exercise) and "bad" stress - it reacts the same way.

JuniperandI · 18/05/2023 12:40

Hello everyone

I hope you're all doing well!

So, my period was due today and there's no sign of it. I had a negative internet cheapie test this morning and the only symptom I've had is getting very emotional (but to be honest there could be many reasons why that's happening!).

My LP is 9 days, so I'm wondering if it's too early to test, even if my HCG level has stopped my period IF I am pregnant?

OP posts:
GabbyGal · 18/05/2023 13:25

Hi @JuniperandI, still trying here too!

Yes it probably is too early to test. Before my period is due my Flo app usually says something like “time to test in 5 days if your period doesn’t arrive in 2 days”. Fingers crossed for you!

EmmRach · 18/05/2023 13:34

Hello @JuniperandI! Hope you are doing ok. Long time no speak. So sorry you @GabbyGal haven't had your BFPs yet. I imagine it's not been the easiest.

I had a 9 day LP and I got a VERY faint positive 10days DPO. So you never know. I have everything crossed for you!!

Also probably worth saying I had implantation bleeding on 10, 11 and 12 DPO that (I'm not going to lie) scared me shitless. But all was well and I'm currently 32 weeks with a very active little one kicking me as we speak.

Keep the faith and I am sending you lots of positive ness. X
