Hi ladies

I have a short LP, about 9-10 days. Anyone else in the same boat? Have you managed to get pregnant with a short LP? Any advice would be very welcome!

thanks all

and I'm sorry too @JuniperandI it's happened to you so much.. is it worth asking drs to investigate? I'm trying to get positive about Christmas too and feel similarly but it's not working yet..

I guess I'll try my best not to test if it ever happens again.. but I'm 36 now and this was my first ever positive test (only been trying seriously for around 8 months so maybe not too bad?) but there have been years of pulling out before before we actively started trying so who knows if there's other issues with conception. I was so, so shocked this happened as I know I have other fertility issues with severely diminished egg supply.. just thought it was finally all falling into place 😥

JuniperandI · 21/11/2022 19:04

@Rosiestraws yes, make sure you tell your drs about it. They won't do anything until you've had 3 miscarriages (hopefully you won't!!) but it's worth having it on file. I've had 2 blood tests and a (private) scan and they all came back normal.

Look after yourself. Rest, call in sick to work if you need to, do whatever makes you more comfortable. This is hard but you will get through it ❤

@Rosiestraws I'm so so sorry to read your news, I hope you're doing as ok as you can be. Look after yourself, and as others said, tell your doctor so it's on your records.

@JuniperandI really sorry to read that you've had 3, and in such a short time span. My heart goes out to you.

@buttercupbee I honestly thought that being ill would mean my immune system was on high alert so more likely to attack sperm... but maybe it works the other way round and it was distracted? No point me trying to find logic in it, but as you say, encouraging to know you can conceive while poorly. Power to you for DTD even with an infection! Fingers crossed for a BFP.

@BCxx thanks for sharing! I would only be 8 weeks by Christmas so am still a bit hesitant about sharing, but DH is struggling to keep it to himself, and I think with all the questions that will come up, it would be easier to share than to lie or be evasive. Prvovided all well at the 8 week scan. How many weeks were you when you told people that Christmas? And totally, it's up to you who you tell, especially if people didn't behave well around it. You guys are the important ones here! True re. hydration affecting tests. I have a few cheapies left, think I will probably use them up with testing every other day then won't get any more (all being well, of course).

I'm 14DPO/4w+3 today. The line is definitely a bit darker than it was 12DPO so some progression. But this is my first time so not sure if it's as dark as it should be as I don't know what I'm looking for. Keeping everything crossed and if no change will test again in a couple of days.

BCxx · 22/11/2022 09:30

@DesertSnow I didn’t even get a positive until 12dpo so the fact it’s progressed by 14dpo is definitely a good sign! I think I ended up being 6 and a half weeks at the scan, thought I was going to have been nearer 7 but I ovulated really late that month, don’t know whether that affected anything. So I would have been just over 7 weeks by the time I told them.

In hindsight I don’t really know why we did as I wouldn’t have if it had been any other time of year but felt I had to since it was a good time to surprise them. If anything bad had happened at another time of year I would never tell his parents though as I wouldnt be comfortable with them knowing anything had happened, we really aren’t close to them. This year we’re driving to their house at lunch on Christmas Day then going to my parents after so I can just drive even if I am pregnant by then and it wouldn’t be obvious.

The early scan is definitely reassuring though, I remember having my heart in my mouth a bit as I felt like we’d booked it too early and might not see a heartbeat (we did) but I think that was the only one we could get before Christmas. Everyone obviously had the same idea as the scan was at like 9.45pm or something, it was open so late that week 😂

DesertSnow · 22/11/2022 17:18

@BCxx Yeah, we'd only be telling because of the time of year and the fact that they'll all be guessing it anyway - would rather be able to reveal it than be exposed! My DH is the driver so I don't have that excuse - and we'll be having people round at ours for a celebration earlier in the week for his birthday, so am thinking of going with the antibiotic excuse for that one. It's certainly a nice 'problem' to have! Just hoping it all works out. How wonderful you got to hear a heartbeat! I'm hoping that at 8 weeks it will be a good indication all will be ok.

BCxx · 22/11/2022 19:53

@DesertSnow yes definitely! I was reading something recently about how much the risk decreases at 8 weeks. You’re never ‘safe’ as such until the baby is physically here but you’d at least feel better after that. my mum said they used to tell people about a pregnancy at 9 weeks. She couldn’t get her head round me keeping it a secret til 12 weeks last time 🤔 If it’s in your own house I would 100% just pretend to drink as you have full control over making the drinks! Even if it involves buying non alcoholic versions and filling up old bottles 😂

LS888 · 22/11/2022 21:43

I’m now on 9dpo. Testing tomorrow at 10dpo with fmu. Keeping my fingers crossed. But did have a tiny amount of blood when I went to the toilet just now. I did have implantation with my last pregnancy for about 2/3 days. Tomorrow will be cycle day 32. Normally 28/29 but last cycle was 32. Hoping for good news xx

EmmRach · 22/11/2022 23:31

@BCxx that's exactly what I'm going to do this weekend!! Just ordered some 0.0 rhubarb Whitley Neil to decant into a bottle I currently have fairy lights in 😅

LS888 · 23/11/2022 06:39

BFN for me this morning at 10dpo. No further spotting overnight though.

@BCxx such a good idea to decant some bottles!

EmmRach · 23/11/2022 07:53

@LS888 boooo to BFN, still early days though. You're not out yet.

Tomselleckhaskindeyes · 23/11/2022 08:00

Mine is 7 days. I got pregnant first time with both my pregnancies. I thought i wasn't ovulating the first time as i was using a kit. I was already pregnant!! Ensure that you have sex regularly thougout.

JuniperandI · 23/11/2022 11:33

@LS888 I'm 10/11 DPO and I got a BFN this morning too. Had a tiny bit of spotting on Monday. AF is due today and hasn't shown up so I'm hoping she doesn't and I'll test again in the morning.
I'm crying at Christmas songs though so either AF is round the corner orr....

DesertSnow · 23/11/2022 12:20

@BCxx haha, good shout on the drinks! Interesting they used to announce at 9 weeks, wonder why that changed!

@LS888 sorry about the BFN, but spotting could have been implantation so you're definitely not out yet!

@JuniperandI fingers crossed that having the weepies is a good sign! I was soooo emotional the day of implantation.

BCxx · 23/11/2022 14:25

@EmmRach 😂😂 it’s genius! No way would I say I wasn’t drinking if I had could do that and hide it 😅 the only time im dreading if I’m pregnant this cycle is a dinner with friends at a restaurant. I feel like saying I’m driving or any of those excuses just don’t wash with my group of friends and I’d be as well telling them but I think if it comes to it I will go early and tell the waiter instead 🙈

BCxx · 23/11/2022 14:26

@DesertSnow totally 😂 who knows, I think the way you get appointments has totally changed to. I remember at the start last time I had like one phone call, a blood test about 10 weeks and nothing else til my 12 week scan then 2 months til my next appointment. My mum was horrified, she said they used to get a doctors appointment every month!

BCxx · 23/11/2022 14:28

@LS888 fingers crossed you’re not out yet then 😅 haha it totally is, got to be creative 🤣

LS888 · 23/11/2022 18:25

Has anyone experienced evap lines on easy@home pregnancy tests? The one I used this morning now has a faint line. Obviously it didn’t look like that this morning so would have appeared after the time limit. No sign of AF anyway so will test again in the morning.

LS888 · 23/11/2022 19:36

@JuniperandI I will be testing again in the morning too. Fingers crossed for us both! 🤞🏻

BCxx · 23/11/2022 19:44

I don’t know what’s happening with me this month.. cd 9 and AF has been gone for a good few days, had been a bit lighter this month so thought that was promising.. was preparing myself to start ‘trying’ again from tonight but went to the loo today and there was blood, not even like a tiny drop either, quite a lot. It’s dried up now but I can’t understand why I was still bleeding on day 9 😑 Just going to have to start tomorrow now

DesertSnow · 23/11/2022 21:17

@BCxx I guess they just don't have capacity these days, but it's a shame - an appointment a month would be nice. That's so weird re. your bleeding. No chance it could have been implantation bleeding when you bled before?

@JuniperandI and @LS888 good luck testing tomorrow! Afraid I've never used easy@home so can't comment on them.

@EmmRach tomorrow's the day! Thinking of you and hoping all well. Let us know how you get on with the scan?

BCxx · 23/11/2022 21:23

@DesertSnow nah there were at least two of the days that were proper full on heavy bleeding and the other days just weren’t as heavy so definitely was AF. I’m guessing it just wasn’t finished and that was the end of it today but day 9, really? 🤷🏼‍♀️ Hopefully can start a fresh tomorrow and get somewhere this month

LS888 · 24/11/2022 07:19

ladies…I have a really faint line! Hubby can see it too but I can’t see it through a photo. Going to test in a few more days. and maybe use a frer or a digital one at the weekend! 🤞🏻 trying not to get too excited until it’s confirmed!

EmmRach · 24/11/2022 07:35

Eeeee!!! @LS888 that's fab news, fingers crossed it gets darker!!

@BCxx how weird! So frustrating, just when we think we've got a handle on our bodies / cycles they do something weird like that!!

@JuniperandI fingers crossed for your test today!!

@DesertSnow thanks so much lovely. It's after work so I'll be sure to update you tonight either way. How are you feeling?

JuniperandI · 24/11/2022 07:48

One positive, one negative. AF was due yesterday and I've had spotting this morning.
Side note - I make pink dye/FRER tests positive when I'm not pregnant so that's also confusing.
I think I'm probably out this month.

Short luteal phase?

DesertSnow · 24/11/2022 08:44

@BCxx how frustrating! At least you're onto the new cycle, fingers crossed.

How exciting @LS888, hope it gets darker!

Hope today goes quickly for you @EmmRach. I am feeling a bit worried. I did another test today at 16DPO and while the line is a bit darker than it was at 14DPO, I'm worried it's not dark enough at this stage. Picture attached. Top is 12DPO, middle is 14DPO, bottom is 16DPO. Such an anxious time.

Short luteal phase?
