Clomid TTC

Hi all,

I wondered if anyone who is currently TTC with Clomid fancied joining a TTC thread? I've had a look and can't see a recent one.

My husband and I have been trying for approx 2 years. I have PCOS and also had a congenital uterine defect (complete septum) which was operated on and fixed in November 2021.

We paid for a private appointment with a gynaecologist yesterday who prescribed 6 months of Clomid. I'm starting off cycle 1 with 50mg and will have a transvaginal ultrasound around CD 10-14.

My period is due in about 3 weeks but ofc with PCOS this is approximate and it might be early/late. My consultant also prescribed norithesterone to bring on a period if it's delayed. I'm tempted to start it soon so I can get cracking with Clomid - patience isn't my strong point!

Would be great to hear from anyone else in a similar position and hopefully share our BFPs in the coming months. TTC can be a lonely time and I've decided to not tell my family/friends about Clomid as it upsets me too much when I have to tell them I'm still not pregnant.

@Ldougal92 clomid can extend your luteal phase, one lady in a previous group I was in had it up at 17 days or so after ovulation before a period. However, if a test is going to be positive it will be positive by 13dpo

Ldougal92 · 30/08/2022 09:08

This is really helpful thank you! Just picked up some first response tests! Now the wait and patience not to test!

how is everyone else getting on?

Hoping43 · 30/08/2022 10:09

@Ldougal92 im on cd 8 of my second round of letrozole after not ovulating on the first round (I ovulate naturally though). I’m anxious I won’t ovulate again and it’ll be another month wasted

All my fingers crossed for you. Do you have a scan booked to check or are you like me and left to your own devices?

Hoping43 · 30/08/2022 11:48

@Ldougal92 ive opted not to have scans. I paid for scans last month and they told me nothing that my body wasn’t already telling me, I knew I hadn’t ovulated from my own signs. So I thought what’s the point in paying again. Just going to do OPKs and hope for a sensible length cycle x

Oh yes that makes complete sense! Fingers crossed! This next two week wait is going to be painful!

MK85 · 31/08/2022 22:24

@Hoping43
I wish my consultant had been a little kinder like yours so that I could at least keep the hope alive . i had the complete opposite experience . She told me the reality is I'm 36 and asked me why had i waited so long and that its not going to be easy for me at this age.
I get it but quite an unnecessary comment considering its taken them years just to get me to this point 🙄

How are all you ladies doing this week ?
I've just returned from a trip to London, other half had a work trip and figured I could do with the time off to relax and reset . I was able to put the baby making anxiety behind me for a week so I'd say it was quite a successful trip

I'm planning on starting provera this week and then onto my first clomid cycle.
Part of me is still pondering should i book a amh test because of my age. I don't know what I'm working with. I'm concerned what if I have a low egg count, after all I'm turning 37 at the end of the year, in which case clomid wouldn't be doing me any favours .
Not feeling too positive about it all right now. If I couldn't even get pregnant in my 20s I don't know what hope i have in my 30s 🤷‍♀️

Hoping43 · 31/08/2022 22:53

@MK85 have you been trying since your 20s? Well I’ve seen three consultants and none of them have said my age is an issue. One of them said I was young 😂. I don’t know if I even believe it is my age. I was 34 when we started trying. That’s not old is it?! I had my last baby when I was 32.5 so somewhere between 32.5 and 34 I suddenly became infertile! X

Jadeybabes86 · 01/09/2022 01:00

@MK85 im 36 to be 37 in Jan and they aren’t concerned about my age people in their 40’s on this thread are using clomid so don’t let age be an added concern you have enough going on, I felt about bumed out with Stacey Dooleys comment about feeling lucky cos of her she but she’s only 35 but who knows she may have also struggled!

glad you’ve had some time away to chill, I’m waiting for my Provera prescription to come in the post I sent an email chasing it up today so fingers crossed it comes tomorrow or I’ll just buy some cos the stock seems to have picked back up now I’m eager to get stuck into cycle 2 even though cycle one was a huge fail!!

Hoping43 · 01/09/2022 11:09

Hey how is everyone? I’m panicking that I won’t ovulate again on the higher letrozole dose. Day 10 now and no ovulation symptoms. I ovulate naturally so don’t want another 50 day cycle because of taking the drugs 😭 I feel like I’m wasting my time. X

Jadeybabes86 · 01/09/2022 13:06

@Hoping43 hang in there and try not to stress as hard as it is not to, I was convinced I had ovulation symptoms last cycle but I hadn’t so symptoms can be hit and miss especially when we play mind games with ourselves fingers crossed for ovulation this month for you x

Ldougal92 · 03/09/2022 15:07

Hi ladies!

Quick question and this may be premature but I am day 7 post ovulation (day 28 in my cycle) and I just had a bleed. I know it could be an implantation bleed but it wasn't just when I went to the loo and had to put a tampon in (bright red in colour).

Now the question really is, if this continues until tomorrow do I start taking clomid (as I am supposed to take this on day 2 of my period) - as you may have seen read I dont have contact with my consultant so no way of asking frustratingly.

Any experience on this?

Thanks x

Jadeybabes86 · 03/09/2022 16:35

@Ldougal92 oeeiod is supposed to come cycle day 27-30 if you have ovulated so if it’s a proper bleed like period bleed then take the clomid, if you’re really not sure then wait another day there’s absolutely no harm in starting them on cycle day 3 as other people are advised anywhere from days 2-5

hope this helps x

This is such a good point - i don't need to rush taking it, good to know I have a few days. My period wasn't "due" until next weekend, with how late I ovulated but I know these things are all guesses.

Do you know if implantation bleeds can be more than just "wiping on the toilet paper" or whether it can be a few days? I am sure once I have done this first full cycle I will be much more clued up and less questions asked ha!

IWillBeWaxingAnOwl · 03/09/2022 17:18

@Ldougal92 unfortunately implantation is usually either no bleeding at all or tiny pinkish spotting (what I had the time I conceived).

I'd see how it goes into tomorrow

Jadeybabes86 · 03/09/2022 18:43

@Ldougal92 implantation bleeding usually is more discharge than blood hence it usually being diluted blood colour and it’s not constant it’s literally just “spotting” but there’s no rush take an extra day or two if needed to be certain 😊 good luck on cycle two I’m waiting for my provera to come to start cycle 2, as I’m on cycle day 57 😳 no bleed so the fact you are potentially having a bleed is a good sign it means you ovulated and it’s working 😊

Gosh so sorry you’re cycle has been so long! This is super helpful thank you. Feeling very teary today but just wasn’t expecting it. My bbt plumated today which would also explain period although if it is my period it’s extremely light! Thanks again x

IWillBeWaxingAnOwl · 03/09/2022 21:21

@Jadeybabes86 I'm cd467, just finished taking my norethisterone so awaiting a period to start next round 7.5mg

Jadeybabes86 · 03/09/2022 21:41

@IWillBeWaxingAnOwl @Ldougal92 fingers crossed we will all smash this next cycle 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

Hoping43 · 03/09/2022 23:28

@IWillBeWaxingAnOwl are you on letrozole? 2.5mg failed for me and pretty sure 5mg has too. I’m on cd 12 and zero ovulation symptoms. It feels exactly the same as my failed 2.5mg month when I had a 50 day cycle. I don’t know whether to go to 7.5mg. I feel like throwing the towel in on letrozole. I wasted 2 months on the first round, no doubt 2 months on this one and if I go to 7.5mg and it fails then it’s just more wasted time

ttcmom · 04/09/2022 05:26

Hello everyone. Hope all is doing well. I m currently on letrozole cycle 2, done the hcg shot and in tww.

I m curious to know, if 13 days past hcg trigger shot... is it wise to test for hpt? Will it still produce false hpt reading? Blush

Thanks ladies - it is definitely my period, it is lighter than usual but definitely too much to be an inplantation bleed.

A little worried as my last "natural period" also had a 7 day luteal phase - bit worrying if this is "normal for me". Next consultant appointment isn't until end of November which is frustrating - hopefully round 2 might be a longer phase.

TTCX2 · 05/09/2022 20:52

Hey everyone, how are you all doing? Anyone else think the days drag whilst on this bloody journey!!

2nd cycle of Chlomid (that test I posted earlier in the thread was a false alarm) but first cycle ovulation was confirmed 🤞. I’ve avoided used ovulation tests as all they do is confuse me and dishearten me- no idea if or when I’m due to ovulate/have ovulated so just trying to BD over the two weeks after my period ended. We BD cycle day 9, 11, 13, 14, 16 and plan to day 18 and 20. I think I ovulated late last cycle. I honestly mentally can’t commit to any more than that hahaha poor DH so please tell my crazy mind that I’ve covered my bases this month or I’ll cry 🤣🤣🤣🫣🫣🫣

I’m sure you have :) just to warn you I didn’t ovulate until day 21 with my first cycle of clomid x

IWillBeWaxingAnOwl · 05/09/2022 22:23

@TTCX2 they do draggggg. I'm awaiting period after taking norethisterone. It's also dragging! Just want to get on my next dose. You have absolutely covered your bases - well done!
