Clomid TTC

Hi all,

I wondered if anyone who is currently TTC with Clomid fancied joining a TTC thread? I've had a look and can't see a recent one.

My husband and I have been trying for approx 2 years. I have PCOS and also had a congenital uterine defect (complete septum) which was operated on and fixed in November 2021.

We paid for a private appointment with a gynaecologist yesterday who prescribed 6 months of Clomid. I'm starting off cycle 1 with 50mg and will have a transvaginal ultrasound around CD 10-14.

My period is due in about 3 weeks but ofc with PCOS this is approximate and it might be early/late. My consultant also prescribed norithesterone to bring on a period if it's delayed. I'm tempted to start it soon so I can get cracking with Clomid - patience isn't my strong point!

Would be great to hear from anyone else in a similar position and hopefully share our BFPs in the coming months. TTC can be a lonely time and I've decided to not tell my family/friends about Clomid as it upsets me too much when I have to tell them I'm still not pregnant.

Thanks @Ldougal92 , I think I may have ovulated around day 18/19 last cycle so maybe same again this month. How are you doing?

@TTCX2 so my period has not come and instead I have a positive test. I'm worried because I have been taking norethisterone, and because of previous loss but also cautiously hopeful

Congratulations. Keep positive and I have all my fingers crossed for a successful pregnancy 💜

@Jadeybabes86 after you stop norethisterone your period is meant to start within 4 days. Mine hadn't! So I tested just in case. It's crazy as I wasn't even on letrozole this cycle.
I think it'll be a long time before I feel excited/happy - we have had a loss at 11 wks previously and I'm still dead worried about the embryo being exposed to norethisterone too!

@IWillBeWaxingAnOwl wow that’s so surreal didn’t you test before the norethisterone? Had you had any pregnancy symptoms? Fingers crossed baby stays put and is healthy x

Yup @Jadeybabes86 - tested before too. I'd say the line is a 10dpo line so likely conceived literally the day I started norethisterone 🙄

Wow that is so bizarre isn’t it and we think we know what’s going on with our bodies or supposed to be it just goes to show it does what it wants 😂

hopefully the norithersterone has had no impact it’s only hormonal drug and I’ve known people fall and carry full term with a coil in so try and relax 😊

well I’m day 17 and got a peak OPK on 5mg of letrozole which is a massive improvement from my 50 day cycle on 2.5mg. I can’t imagine it giving me the result I want but at least it’s a bit of progress!

@Hoping43 no that’s really good progress stay positive 🤞🏻 Well I’m now day 62 and still no period, the Provera prescription was due to arrive in the post last week and hasn’t so I’m just a sitting duck at the min ☹️

i just want to crack on, it’s annoying cos it’s messed my period up because I wasn’t really by the book regular but I was more regular leading up to taking the clomid 😩

@Jadeybabes86 yeah I know exactly how you feel, I was in the same position last month and it just felt so frustrating.

I have a friend taking clomid and she had a 20mm and a 16mm follicle on day 10 but she’s day 37 now and no period and not pregnant. It feels like It can really mess things up x

Hi ladies, hope you're all well. Looking for some advice - I've started taking norethisterone today to bring on a period before I go away on holiday on the 2nd Oct (don't want to risk coming on whilst I'm abroad wearing bikinis etc.). If I take my clomid CD2-6 I won't be able to have my day 10 scan with my gynaecologist as I'll be away.

Do you think I should wait until next cycle to take the clomid when I'm in the country for my day 10 scan? Or could I go for my day 10 scan on the 2nd cycle if the 1st doesn't work?

Not sure exactly what the day 10 scan is for and I know someone people take clomid unmonitored the whole way through. Just really want to get started with the clomid now but don't know if I'm just being stupid and impatient to start taking it this cycle.

@lucymc11 they use it to monitor how you are responding. Given you can only have a limited number of clomid rounds, I would consider postponing cycle 1. I would not recommend postponing holidays - important still to live your life

Morning! If it helps I’m completly unmonitored through clomid and don’t tend to ovulate until day 21 so a scan day 10 probably wouldn’t be super helpful for me. Not sure if that’s helps you at all! But I know how exciting it is just to get started! X

@lucymc11 I would attend for your day 10 scan, it will show them how well you're responding to it. I was on 50mg my first cycle and had no dominant follicles (had two around 10mm) on day 10 ended up ovulating on day 25 which was too late as egg wouldn't have been good quality. I was increased to 100mg and I ovulate on day 13/14 now. It is definitely worth it x

Thank you all, really helpful - I think I'll hold off on the clomid until I get back from my holiday. Seems the sensible thing to do even though I'm desperate to get started. TTC gives 'marathon not a sprint' a whole new meaning!

@lucymc11 i have a controversial different opinion but I did 2.5mg of letrozole and I had 4 scans and they didn’t see any dominant follicles. I also didn’t have any EWCM or usual ovulation symptoms so I knew I hadn’t ovulated. I’ve now increased my dose to 5mg and opted not to be scanned due to cost but I’ve had EWCM and a positive OPK so I guess what I’m trying to say is that I felt my body told me as much as the scans

Hi ladies! On my second cycle of clomid and my OPK seems to have had a high and then fallen very quickly. Boobs are very sore so something is happening but do you think I could have peaked and missed it?

@Ldougal92 i don’t use opk so I’m absolutely no help but hopefully one of the other ladies can help. It’s good you got a high though looks like somethings happening?

so cycle two of clomid, cycle day 35 and no period, been testing like mad and nothing. But this morning I’ve gotten this? What do we think? 🥹
