Clomid TTC

Hi all,

I wondered if anyone who is currently TTC with Clomid fancied joining a TTC thread? I've had a look and can't see a recent one.

My husband and I have been trying for approx 2 years. I have PCOS and also had a congenital uterine defect (complete septum) which was operated on and fixed in November 2021.

We paid for a private appointment with a gynaecologist yesterday who prescribed 6 months of Clomid. I'm starting off cycle 1 with 50mg and will have a transvaginal ultrasound around CD 10-14.

My period is due in about 3 weeks but ofc with PCOS this is approximate and it might be early/late. My consultant also prescribed norithesterone to bring on a period if it's delayed. I'm tempted to start it soon so I can get cracking with Clomid - patience isn't my strong point!

Would be great to hear from anyone else in a similar position and hopefully share our BFPs in the coming months. TTC can be a lonely time and I've decided to not tell my family/friends about Clomid as it upsets me too much when I have to tell them I'm still not pregnant.

Thanks @Harper02 @SusieNI It’s so lovely you’ve taken the time to reply ❤️. Will keep you posted!

oh @Harper02 that could be promising, and not too long too wait to test if your cycles are that length. Hoping this is the start of something for you!

lucymc11 · 27/11/2022 21:08

@TTCX2 I think I can see the second line on your latest photo! Keeping everything crossed for you!! 🥰🥰

@Harper02 that seems like it could be a good sign??? Everything crossed for you too.

Hope the next few days pass quickly for you both.

After spending the weekend with my 3 y/o niece I've decided I'm not patient enough to wait until January and I am going to start clomid cycle 3 today. 🤣

This mornings 😭😭😭😭😭😭

I just can’t let myself believe it.. I’m not sure how dark the line should be as I’m not 100% when I ovulated but I’m CD29 today. Do you think a digital would work at this stage?

Congratulations @TTCX2 im over the moon for you! How amazing!!!

Which cycle was you on?

im on cycle 3 and 8 days PO the suspense is tough isn’t it

what day did you start testing? x

TTCX2 · 28/11/2022 14:08

Thanks so much @Jadeybabes86 @lucymc11 I can’t believe it. Feels so surreal. It’s going to be the most anxious few weeks but my fertility clinic give me a scan @ 7 weeks so just 3 to wait but I just hope there will be something in there to see 🫣🫣.

this was cycle 3 for me, my 1st on 100mg. What dose are you on just now? I wasn’t certain on my DPO but I got faint lines on CD27, CD28 and then confirmed digital today CD29. 🥲

Jadeybabes86 · 28/11/2022 15:10

@TTCX2 amazing news!! Gives us all hope 😊

im on 100mg I’ve always been on it which is strange cos I know people have stared on 50mg x

SusieNI · 28/11/2022 16:14

@TTCX2 omg😭💕 I am absolutely over the moom for u congratulations!!! Just the best news!!!

SusieNI · 28/11/2022 16:28

@TTCX2 im just remembering what u said a gew weeks ago, could this have happened from your 'unconventional methods' around ovulation!😯😯

XMoonChildx · 28/11/2022 16:38

I know this is a long running thread but is it alright if I join in ?
Has anyone got any advice what to expect using clomid ?
What days us everyone taking clomid ? Do you feeling the days make any difference ?

TTCX2 · 28/11/2022 17:00

Thanks so much! It could well have been @SusieNI 🤣🫣 we DTD loads around that time and also had a very “I can’t be ars**d” baby dance so maybe that was the trick 🤣🤣🤣

hi @XMoonChildx welcome and of course! I took my clomid on days 2-6 of my cycle! My only advice is not to worry if the 50mg doesn’t work- it’s really common for them to increase the dosage. Wishing you lots of luck!

Harper02 · 28/11/2022 17:03

Aww such lovely news @TTCX2 🥰

Af has arrived for me and I've decided to not take my break lol just took my first dose of clomid, this is cycle 9😫 don't think it'll happen at this splint but will keep using my meds until it's finished x

Hey and welcome @XMoonChildx everyone seems to be different but for me I had very little of the side effects and I'm on 100mg, I take mine day 1-5 and ovulate on day 14. Good luck x

XMoonChildx · 28/11/2022 17:06

Thankyou TTCX2
That's what I've been started on 50mg. I'm told I'll have a scan only on my first month or any month if dose has been increased which does scare me a little.
I'm hoping for a bleed any day now so I can get started.

Apologies for any grammar word errors. Apparently my spellcheck isn't cooperating today 🙃

MK85 · 28/11/2022 17:12

Congratulations @TTCX2

Great to hear another positive story.
I hope everything goes well 🤞

@lucymc11 I'm not patient enough to wait until after January either so I'll be going ahead with clomid over christmas.

Here's a question : do any of you ladies get any symptoms around ovulation?

Harper02 · 28/11/2022 17:21

@MK85 my symptoms are usually ewcm and my ovary feels like it's going to POP

SusieNI · 28/11/2022 18:41

@XMoonChildx welcome:) dont worry I've just finished my tablets on my second cycle of Clomid so now we wait. First month was 50mg and i had 3 tracking scans and it didnt seem to have worked but then AF came at a decent time on day 33 (which NEVER happens me) so maybe I did ovulate...hmm.

No symptoms all from the 100mg dose which is freaking me out a tad as thought id be on fire with a double dose lol🥵

@MK85 I genuinely dont know if I have ever ovulated before in my life tbh :( so no signs that I know of anyway!

SusieNI · 30/11/2022 11:13

Hi ladies hope everyone is well! Qq - I have had the qorst headache and craziest most vivid dreams ever the last few nights, did anyone experience this whilst on Clomid before? Like a nightmare a night atm :(

Harper02 · 30/11/2022 12:33

@SusieNI yes I have the same, my dreams are really vivid, not nightmares but just reaaaally strange 👀 do you take your clomid at night?

SusieNI · 30/11/2022 13:23

@Harper02 yes I do! Do you? Aw just horribly vivid and I finished my last tablet a few days ago and the dreams are still there! So glad someone else has this too as wasnt sure if it was a thing or not lol

Harper02 · 30/11/2022 13:40

@SusieNI yeah I take mine in the evening :) on day 3 now I think. Feels like a vicious circle, I've done 8 cycles of clomid now. I have an insta for TTC and there's girls on there who sent me information on buying letrozole, you can get it without a prescription. Tempted but also scared 👀 did your clinic let you know what next steps are if clomid isn't successful? I'm due back at the Mid in December but really don't want to face going back.

TTCX2 · 30/11/2022 15:13

Yes to all the above! I had really vivid dreams that took me a while to wake myself from! Hope you’re all doing well. @Harper02 I’ve heard some lovely things about letrazole!

SusieNI · 30/11/2022 15:35

Aw this is so reassuring ladies I thought my dreams were possesed 🤣🙈

@Harper02 Im just in month 2 of Clomid but if I still havent ovulated by maybe month 3 or 4 I might request Letrozole??

Harper02 · 30/11/2022 15:37

@TTCX2 apparently it's better for pcos! I hope I don't need to try it though😵‍💫

@SusieNI im in Northern Ireland and my clinic said my next step was gonal f injections which make you ovulate same as clomid and then after that, ivf😫 that's why I'm thinking of buying it myself. Defo ask for it though 🤞🏼

lucymc11 · 30/11/2022 15:42

@Harper02 I'm keen to try letrozole too if I don't have any luck with clomid, I've read good things.

I contacted my gynae to see if I could try a trigger shot this cycle so am booked in to have that next Wednesday. Hopefully this cycle is the one. 🤞

Btw have any of you listened to the BFN podcast? I found it the other day and would really recommend. Apart from this thread and my husband, I don't have anyone to talk to about TTC as I've decided not to share with family & friends because I don't like the constant questions, opinions, "just relax and it will happen" comments. So the podcast has really helped and made me feel less alone with it all!
