Clomid TTC

Hi all,

I wondered if anyone who is currently TTC with Clomid fancied joining a TTC thread? I've had a look and can't see a recent one.

My husband and I have been trying for approx 2 years. I have PCOS and also had a congenital uterine defect (complete septum) which was operated on and fixed in November 2021.

We paid for a private appointment with a gynaecologist yesterday who prescribed 6 months of Clomid. I'm starting off cycle 1 with 50mg and will have a transvaginal ultrasound around CD 10-14.

My period is due in about 3 weeks but ofc with PCOS this is approximate and it might be early/late. My consultant also prescribed norithesterone to bring on a period if it's delayed. I'm tempted to start it soon so I can get cracking with Clomid - patience isn't my strong point!

Would be great to hear from anyone else in a similar position and hopefully share our BFPs in the coming months. TTC can be a lonely time and I've decided to not tell my family/friends about Clomid as it upsets me too much when I have to tell them I'm still not pregnant.

And no shame here lol u gotta do what u go to do! I'm actually impressed with your innovation! 😂😂😂

TTCX2 · 13/11/2022 22:09

Your acceptance of my unorthodox methods and lack of judgment is so lovely ladies thank you 🥺🥺 how are you both? @lucymc11 @SusieNI

lucymc11 · 14/11/2022 17:21

I'm ok thnx currently 5dpo and refusing to Google any minor symptom I get e.g. me being
thirsty this afternoon 🤣

@TTCX2 do you mind me asking if you used clomid to conceive your little one? Sorry if you've already explained and I've missed it.

Lucy that made me laugh @lucymc11. It’s crazy how our minds work, I might not have even ovulated yet or maybe only just, and I’m like “oh what’s that 😳😳”. Not too long until you can test though, when do you think you will and how did you confirm ovulation? (Sorry if you’ve said this already!)

so with my first DD (2 and half years old☺️) I was on the waiting list for fertility support as I have PCOS and absent/irregular periods. We got extremely lucky and a one off DTD we managed to catch it and fall pregnant in October and didn’t need any input in the end. I hadn’t ovulated since the January so it was complete miracle tbh. This time I decided to get support right away because I was conscious of time and age gaps and my periods still being non existent! Our bodies are incredible, even when we think they’re not ‘working’, they are and my DD is proof!!

SusieNI · 14/11/2022 19:13

@TTCX2 aw thats so incredible a total little miracle then!!🥰

Can I ask you guys, when you ovulate do you feel little pains or anything? At this stage I'm kinda feeling like I've never ovulated on my own in my life before atm :(

lucymc11 · 14/11/2022 21:27

Awww that's lovely @TTCX2 she's your little one in a million.

I had a peak on my OPKs CD15 and EWCM so I'm hoping that means I ovulated. I'm not having blood tests to confirm so can't be 100%.

I'm going to try and not test this cycle unless my period is a few days late because I hate seeing a negative test.

@SusieNI No I've never had ovulation pains. I did wonder whether I felt a slight twinge this cycle but I think it was in my head. 🤣

Thanks @Jadeybabes86 ! Aw I think I might gice up on OPK testing,I've had a very distinct line for weeks but no peak so I think my LH levels are just still running high :(

TTCX2 · 16/11/2022 09:46

Oh @SusieNI its so frustrating and I don’t think OPKs work for everyone. They never have for me before now. Doesn’t mean your not ovulating though ❤️. I don’t really notice ovulation symptoms like other women but I must admit this cycle my whole abdomen area just feels ‘different’. Bloaty and crampy. Don’t know if that’s linked to ovulation tbh!

Desperatelyboredhousewife · 16/11/2022 10:50

What Cycle Day did you all ovulate with Clomid? I'm currently CD13, usually ovulate day 20-25 but have been hoping Clomid will bring it forward

TTCX2 · 16/11/2022 12:14

what dose are you on @Desperatelyboredhousewife ? I ovulated quite late with the 50 around day 17/18 but I think/hope I have ovulated now between day 14/15

Desperatelyboredhousewife · 16/11/2022 12:45

@TTCX2 I'm on 50mg, not showing any signs yet not even a flashing smiley so I think I might just be following my pattern of ovulating late. Really hoping it happens a little earlier this month but we'll see! Thanks for sharing

MK85 · 17/11/2022 03:57

Had my hsg today and everything was normal. I feel alot more relieved and ready to start my first cycle now knowing the results.
I wish i had a crystal ball. Had I of known in advance I wouldn't have wasted another month waiting on this test tho.
I'm only on cycle day 10 so I have a long wait 😢

QueenBee22 · 17/11/2022 11:41

@Desperatelyboredhousewife

I normally have long cycles. First round of clomid I ovulated at day 19. Second round of clomid 24.

It definitely didn't shorten my cycles at all.

TTCX2 · 17/11/2022 17:41

So glad it went well @MK85 and exciting to start your first cycle! Fingers crossed and baby dust 🤞🤞🤞 I am into my TWW now and it’s gonna draaaag! Must keep busy 😫

SusieNI · 17/11/2022 18:05

Aw great it went well@MK85!

I dont know what to do to be honest...I am cycle day 29 now, do I take a test and then just start Provera again and then higher dose of clomid or do I wait another week or two just incase I ovulated later and we have been lucky? I def hadnt ovulated/wasnt looking positive by my last scan which was cycle day 18 hmmmm this is torture 😭

TTCX2 · 17/11/2022 18:43

oh @SusieNI that’s tough. How long are your cycles normally (or were the irregular before the Provera/Clomid?). I’d give it a bit more time, there’s still time for a period or a positive test to appear 🤞. Do you not have a consultant you can get some support from?

SusieNI · 17/11/2022 20:05

Aw thanks @TTCX2 aw cycles could be anything from 35 days to 90 days.
We have went private for this but have literally seen 6 different male doctors at the clinic since we started, no consistency. The last scan i had that doctor said to give it to week 5 do a test and then start provera but what if i ovulated later...:( plus i didnt really like him lol so thats putting extra doubts in my head to wait an extra week or two beyond week 5 then do it.

TTCX2 · 17/11/2022 21:32

Set yourself a wee deadline. You’ll wait until CD ‘x’ before you start your next round. Have you tested for pregnancy yet?

MK85 · 17/11/2022 21:47

@SusieNI I'd personally give it another week before taking provera again , just to be sure

SusieNI · 17/11/2022 22:34

Yeah you are both right I think I will! No havent taken a test yet as no point really as knew I wasnt ovulating as of 10 days ago so i def dont think thered be anything to see yet! I'll maybe give it two weeks from now and then restart! Its all fun and games isnt it ladies lol

QueenBee22 · 18/11/2022 15:05

@MK85 how did you find the hsg test? I may need it soon.

TTCX2 · 18/11/2022 17:47

Yeah a little more time @SusieNI and fingers crossed you don’t need to take the Provera!! 🤞🤞🤞🤞

I’ve had some EWCM yesterday and today so now I’m panicking I’ve o’d later and timed it all wrong 😫🙄

SusieNI · 18/11/2022 21:42

@TTCX2 aw man! :( hopefully its just a wee fluke! Its so hard to know😭

TTCX2 · 20/11/2022 09:57

I’d say for the last 3 days I’ve had EWCM.. but Premom says I’m 5dpo (going by my high/peak OPK). Do you think you could ovulate that much later after a peak? I’m CD 21 today, getting bloods tomorrow to confirm ovulation. We DTD Sun, Mon, Tues and Thurs over the last week to cover what I thought was ovulation but now worrying it’s happened later and we’ve not covered it enough.

do you think it could just be post ovulation EWCM? 🫣

MK85 · 22/11/2022 13:41

@QueenBee22
I suppose everybodys pain threshold is different and to some it might be a breeze but I personally found it quite uncomfortable.

The first part of inserting the tube was a bit painful , like a period pain . They told me that was the worst part over 🤨 but Injecting the dye was the most horrible part of it all. It felt like an intense pressure from within and pain just along the pubic area. Yeah definitely quite painful but I might be a bit of a whimp 😆 i think my reproductive organs are quite delicate in general. Thankfully the whole process is over relatively quick. About 5 mins or so its all done and the pain didn't last longer than a few minutes each time. I had some mild discomfort for a little afterwards, just a bit of tenderness ,nothing major but i was fit enough to go shopping after it . I did bleed for a few hours afterwards aswell but you can pretty much resume your activities straight afterwards
