Clomid TTC

Hi all,

I wondered if anyone who is currently TTC with Clomid fancied joining a TTC thread? I've had a look and can't see a recent one.

My husband and I have been trying for approx 2 years. I have PCOS and also had a congenital uterine defect (complete septum) which was operated on and fixed in November 2021.

We paid for a private appointment with a gynaecologist yesterday who prescribed 6 months of Clomid. I'm starting off cycle 1 with 50mg and will have a transvaginal ultrasound around CD 10-14.

My period is due in about 3 weeks but ofc with PCOS this is approximate and it might be early/late. My consultant also prescribed norithesterone to bring on a period if it's delayed. I'm tempted to start it soon so I can get cracking with Clomid - patience isn't my strong point!

Would be great to hear from anyone else in a similar position and hopefully share our BFPs in the coming months. TTC can be a lonely time and I've decided to not tell my family/friends about Clomid as it upsets me too much when I have to tell them I'm still not pregnant.

Another provera question.
So as mentioned I started spotting ever so slightly day 7 and 8 of taking provera ( last mon and tue ) then it stopped.
My last final pills were day 10 on Thursday.
2 days àfter my last provera pill i started to bleed (yesterday and today) a little more obvious than the previous spotting last week but its off and on. When I say bleeding I just mean a splotch on the paper , way too light for a tampon. Thought to myself at least provera has worked and im now going to get a bleed, only for it to stop again. Its been doing this past 2 days now and no sign of full flow so its clearly not a proper bleed.
Those of you who took provera did you have a normal bleed ? Or was it any heavier or lighter ? Did it take a few days for bleed to build up or did yours come on straight away ?
I'd read online a common side effect from provera induced period was heavy bleeding but I seem to be having the opposite. I'm supposed to book myself in for my dye test on first day of my bleed and now I don't know what I'm supposed to be doing since it's not full flow

@MissH82 thank u SO much!! It is so so lovely and reassuring to hear the story of someone who has been through this and has come out the other side of it 💕💕 it only takes the one time for all our hopes to come true so lets keep trucking forward ladies!💕🙏 we got this!

SusieNI · 07/11/2022 19:48

@MK85 I have only taken Provera once so can only give my experience of that one time. I did spot while taking Provera a little but my period did then start pretty damn heavy 2 days later.
I would say since you spotted for so long maybe u are just having a lighter flow right now? (I was only prescribed Provera for 5 days not 10 and only spotted a tiny bit) maybe ring to book in and explain?xx

Jadeybabes86 · 08/11/2022 01:26

@MK85 I was very late on my period following my 1st cycle and I actually started spotting for a good week before taking provera, I decided to wait for a natural full flow to start the next cycle but it never came so I took the provera and a few days after finishing had the most horrendous heavy flow, I’ve had spotting in the past that’s gone on 3 weeks before a heavy flow, give it a little longer for full flow it may come, but maybe mention it to your specialist xx

SusieNI · 08/11/2022 12:31

Hi ladies...am a little confused and would love your opinions. My doctor in my scan on Sunday (cycle day 18) said (quite abruptly) that clomid hadnt worked follicles werent size they should have been and try again next month. But today and yesterday my OPK lines are getting darker...could it just be im going to ovulate a later? I know some of you ovulated way past day 20+? Maasively confuddled

Thanks for spreading some positive @MissH82, so lovely to hear of your outcome 🥰

@MK85 i had a really heavy period after the Provera so maybe wait a few more days and then call your Gp? Maybe you’re just having a lighter flow but it’s so annoying if it’s delaying you getting your dye test.

im terrible at reading ovulation sticks @SusieNI but that does look dark! I definitely ovulated later in my first cycle with clomid so could be!!

lucymc11 · 09/11/2022 14:08

@SusieNI OPKs confuse me to no end. What days did you take your Clomid?

OP posts:
TTCX2 · 09/11/2022 18:59

What was your opk saying today @SusieNI?

scan today went well, a 18mm follicle so looks like I’m responding to the 100mg and hopefully ovulate in the next week 🤞🤞

SusieNI · 09/11/2022 19:09

Oh fab news @TTCX2 !! Thats so lovely to hear, come on little follicle grow grow grow 😍 what cycle day are u? So genuinely pleased for u!!

Theres still a line on my OPKs, not just as dark as yesterday so I dont have a clue what to be at or think any more 🤣 ee are just doing the deed every other day and praying and hoping for the best now! Dr said to give it to week 5 and if no period take a pg test and if no then start Provera again, so I guess I wait!🤷‍♀️

lucymc11 · 09/11/2022 19:17

Glad your scan went well @TTCX2, that's really exciting!

TTCX2 · 09/11/2022 19:46

Thanks @lucymc11 ❤️ How are you? Where are you at in your cycle?

maybe you’re right and ovulating a bit later than they had anticipated! It’s hard when you’re not sure to be able to pin point and plan DTD around it so you’re covering your basis by doing it every other day! Fingers crossed you’ve caught it and this month is the one!!! 🤞🤞🤞 I'm CD10 so the Nurse had said ovulation will be likely in the next week and then I’ll have day 21 bloods to confirm. Not sure whether to do OPKs or not?

lucymc11 · 09/11/2022 20:32

I'm good thank you @TTCX2 currently CD16, I think I got my peak yesterday but Premom doesn't seem to think so. Hoping that the low numbers/levels on Premom don't mean I'm not ovulating ...

OP posts:
TTCX2 · 09/11/2022 21:23

Oh @lucymc11 definitely I’d agree, especially the 1.54pm one!! I think they’re can only be so much accuracy in the app and to the eye it definitely looks like a peak 🤞🤞🤞🫢🫢🫢

SusieNI · 09/11/2022 22:39

@lucymc11 ohh that def looks like a solid line to me too on the 1.54pm test! 🥳 fingers crossed for u!

@TTCX2 its up to u on the OPKs but since u know u have such a big follicle from the scan thats the best indication u can get instead of driving yourself mad with OPKs??? maybe just go to town on dtd for the next week and a half to cover all possibilities 🤣

Jadeybabes86 · 10/11/2022 11:09

Hi all cycle 3 underway I’m due to take last tablets tonight, the 1st cycle my symptoms were all over the place and I just felt weird - I didn’t ovulate,

2nd cycle my symptoms felt a little more under control but I had really bad hot flashes in bed and in particular the back of my neck was drenched in sweat!! That cycle I ovulated 10 days after taking the last dose, I also had a lot of bloating!

BUT this cycle I don’t feel any symptoms do you think it’s not working? 🤔

Has anyone had next to no symptoms compared with previous months and still ovulated?

I wasn’t going to do OPK’s this month and just try and chill and trust the process but I’m not so sure now 🤣

MK85 · 10/11/2022 14:24

@SusieNI
I'd keep trying regardless of what the follicle tracking scan says as I've seen on posts other people saying they were told similar that clomid didn't work this cycle or else told it looked like they were just about to ovulate or had ovulated only for symptoms and opk tests to show they actually ovulated at a later date than the scan had indicated so there's definitely no harm in continuing to try until af shows

SusieNI · 11/11/2022 11:26

@MK85 yeah I think we will just keep the hope alive and keep trying! Its not that I don't trust all these male doctors but I'm just kind of like....I'd love a female doctors opinion on all this for once! :'( (channeling Rachel in Friends, "no uterus, no opinion!" 😆)

Out of interest ladies, has anyone every tried fertility acupuncture or reflexology?

TTCX2 · 11/11/2022 17:23

My mother in law does reflexology (reiki and EFT) and people used to call her ‘magic hands’ because after regular treatments a lot of woman got pregnant. Not sure if it played a role but it can’t hurt I suppose 🤷🏻‍♀️

Desperatelyboredhousewife · 11/11/2022 20:36

I did acupuncture for a couple of months earlier this year, didn’t work (hence the Clomid haha) or really give me any other noticeable health benefits, but my luteal phase has now lengthened so that could have played a part in it potentially, it made me feel calm and certainly didn’t do any harm but it was a lot of money

TTCX2 · 13/11/2022 15:05

Is this a peak?! I’ve never had one of these before! 🫣

lucymc11 · 13/11/2022 15:36

Yes definitely looks like one @TTCX2! Congratulations 🎉

TTCX2 · 13/11/2022 16:32

Eeee thanks @lucymc11 I’ve never had one before and never thought I’d see it! My husband is getting ready for a nightshift tonight and have our very clingy two year old at home with us so have had to resort to an unconventional methods before he headed off to work 🤣🤣

lucymc11 · 13/11/2022 17:03

Haha that's really impressive you managed to DTD in those circumstances! Hopefully you can do it again tomorrow too. How exciting 🤞🤞

OP posts:
TTCX2 · 13/11/2022 17:10

I’m ashamed to say DTD wasn’t an option with our curious 2 year old so unromantic methods involving a syringe and some Tupperware took place 😳😳😳.. telling myself that I’m putting all these medicines on my body so have to take every opportunity.. what has my life come to 🫣

lucymc11 · 13/11/2022 17:38

No shame here, it has to be done! There's no thought worse than a whole clomid cycle going to waste. I've seen on other threads some ladies also use similar method but with a menstrual cup and it's worked.🤞
