Clomid TTC

Hi all,

I wondered if anyone who is currently TTC with Clomid fancied joining a TTC thread? I've had a look and can't see a recent one.

My husband and I have been trying for approx 2 years. I have PCOS and also had a congenital uterine defect (complete septum) which was operated on and fixed in November 2021.

We paid for a private appointment with a gynaecologist yesterday who prescribed 6 months of Clomid. I'm starting off cycle 1 with 50mg and will have a transvaginal ultrasound around CD 10-14.

My period is due in about 3 weeks but ofc with PCOS this is approximate and it might be early/late. My consultant also prescribed norithesterone to bring on a period if it's delayed. I'm tempted to start it soon so I can get cracking with Clomid - patience isn't my strong point!

Would be great to hear from anyone else in a similar position and hopefully share our BFPs in the coming months. TTC can be a lonely time and I've decided to not tell my family/friends about Clomid as it upsets me too much when I have to tell them I'm still not pregnant.

for anyone that’s had Provera did you do the full 10 days? Seems excessive?!?

Yes I am a stupid *** for testing so early and now I'm sad lol

@Jadeybabes86 I used norethisterone not provera but did take all 10 days

How many dpo @Harper02 ? Don’t lose hope if it’s still early days lots of opportunity for that second line to appear 🤞

7dpo! I never used to test early but I'm desperate 😢🙃

I can see where a line should be @Harper02 but the cheapies have that anyways.

Wait until 9dpo, use a FRER

Hope you're ok @TTCX2 - have you told your gynae that you've had positive tests in previous cycles too?

@Jadeybabes86 sorry I haven't taken provera before but always take the full 10 days for norethisterone. I do wonder everyone if 10 days is really necessary but have never been brave enough to deviate lol.

@Harper02 I've seen other ladies not get BFPs until CD12 so you're definitely not out until your period comes. 🤞

Can't believe how up and down this journey is. I have days where I feel really positive and like it will happen one day soon, and other days where I feel so down and like I may as well give up. When it does finally happen for us all, and I'm sure it will, at least we'll never take it for granted! ❤️

I went for the scan to check if clomid worked last Wednesday - very relieved as the dr said it worked perfectly and I had the triple layer womb lining (can’t remember the official terminology he said!).

he said he thinks ovulation in the next day or two, so we DTD on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday (busy 🤣).

I felt twinges and period like pains on Thursday… and nothing since so maybe ovulation? First time ovulating in 14 years after coming off the pill a year ago.

Would you assume Friday as 1DPO?

I just don’t feel like it’s going to happen for me this month but going to try block that negativity out!

Hi @toadinthehole1 glad your scan went well! What CD are you?

I had my scan last Friday and was also told everything looks good - I had one dominant follicle and my womb lining was thickening up.

I'm currently CD11 - I've been taking OPKs but no positive yet. What days do you ladies normally ovulate on clomid?

Hey! You too 😊 I’m CD19, had the scan on CD13. I have a feeling I ovulated on CD14, just because I felt pain that was unusual and I’m assuming was ovulation pain that was gone the following day.

Is this your 1st cycle? I’m struggling to not get my hopes up!

I’m only cycle 3 and I’ve ovulated on day 21 and day 19 so very late on. X

Hi girls, I hope to get catching up with how you've all been getting on soon.
I've taken a little time offline to focus on my physical and mental health.
I've alot to update you with regarding our journey which hopefully I'll feel upto sharing soon.
I'm knackered and struggling to focus these days. i have a horrible stubborn cold (not covid) that just won't shift. OH and I have both been struck down with it and strangely all our pets have been displaying cold like symptoms aswell. I always thought they were species specific viruses. F* knows what we have 😆
Thankfully I'm feeling like im finally on the mend, hopefully if I get a few more days over me then I can get back to normality. First sickness in 3 years tho so I suppose I can't complain

Optimistically did a test this morning which I know is way too early at 6dpo (obv bfn!).

Had sharp twinges on my left side low down and a tapping / pulling feeling yesterday… hope I’m not just imagining it 😅

There seems to be so many sickness bugs / colds going round at the moment! sending my love and look forward to hearing about your updates!

Only update here, cycle 3 currently happening here - last tablet tomorrow. The drs are finally doing bloods on me this month to double check everything and then luckily managed to move my appointment to see the consultant up a month to 2 Nov, so hopefully they will up my dosage and give me my last 3 rounds of clomid!

I usually take the full 10 days, the consultant said between 7-10 - so better safe than sorry x

my only update is I still haven’t gotten my period from my previous posts. Find it so odd considering last month everything worked ok and I’ve done exactly the same and same dosage this month and no confirmed pregnancy and no period. I’m going on holiday soon so I need to time my Provera/ clomiphene around that as I’ll be getting scans this month since my dose will be increasing! Good luck everyone ❤️

@TTCX2 i feel you, I started my 1st cycle back in July no period no pregnancy, waited for Provera prescription that was meant to be posted out but took forever then started spotting so I though may as well wait for a natural period, that didn’t happen I just kept spotting (took several negative tests 😩)

Finally took the Provera for 10 days to bring the bleed on (10 days seems too excessive) I’m now on day two of full flow and it has been horrendous I am literally just flooding, im supposed to take my 2nd cycle on day 2 of AF but im going to take it tomorrow instead because the bleeding is so heavy I just want it to get the lining out before I start so cycle 2 starts for me tomorrow

I researched why you bleed so heavy after not having bled for three months and it is basically your womb lining shedding as the lining has thickened thinking that you are pregnant hence the really heavy flow this time as my body thought I was pregnant for 3 months and the womb lining was thickening all that time…. Crazy isn’t it!!

@Jadeybabes86 oh gosh, its horrendous isnt it? Especially if you have to leave the house. I've been there a few times after not having a period for so long. I recall the worst time was when I hadn't had a period for over a year. It was like a massacre 😆 😳
We even had to buy a new mattress and everything, even tho I lined the bed with towels. It just soaked through everything. I couldn't leave the house for over a week.
It's incredibly embarrassing. Thankfully my partner is so supportive about it.

That sounds correct. The gynaecologist told me when your not having regular periods the estrogen builds up and it causes the lining to thicken

@MK85 it’s awful isn’t it you just don’t feel steam or safe to leave the house, my partner is really supportive too, hes seen all sides of me and doesn’t phase him, yes we’ve been through a mattress and towels and bedding and endless clothing items 😂

im starting cycle two today well tonight I take them before bed to sleep through the symptoms

Oh ladies I feel ya @Jadeybabes86 @MK85 i usually wear maternity pads 😳😳😳 (and sometimes still bleed through these!). I’ve just been to the GP this morning for some blood tests just to 100% rule out pregnancy before starting the Provera- absolutely not looking forward to the bleeding from it!
